Brutus (The Immortal Matchmakers, Inc., #6)
From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes BRUTUS, a Paranormal Romantic Comedy that will surely cause evil vampires to kidnap the author.CAN THE WORLD’S TOUGHEST IMMORTAL WARRIOR WIN THE HEART OF THE WORLD’S TOUGHEST IMMORTAL WOMAN?Brutus is not your average immortal warrior. He leads the gods’ army, he’s tough as nails, and his mind is so powerful, he no longer speaks to communicate with his men. Some call him telepathic; he just calls it being a badass. But despite the many bloody battles and hard-won victories, this is one mission he’s not so sure about. There is a plague sweeping the immortal world. Gods, vampires, incubi—no one is safe, except for those with mates, and sadly, there just aren’t enough women to go around. To keep the gods’ army intact, ready to protect the human world, Brutus must convince a group of ancient female warriors, located deep in the Amazon jungle, to return home with him, and…well…go on dates with his men.But when the toughest, meanest, man-hating, sexiest woman of the group catches his eye, all he can think about is conquering her heart. WARNING: This book contains a smokin’ hot immortal warrior looking for his forever love, a randy invisible unicorn, and bad, bad, such bad language. Okay, and some sex. Fine, yes! Lots of sex! And a kitten, a bit of violence, a man who loves knitting, mannibalism, unruly deities, Mayan priests who babysit animals, a naked goddess who wears a bee bikini, leather pants (for men), a very randy ghost who’s desperate for her HEA, anecdotes about evil mermen, a BIG plot twist even the author didn’t see coming, and a ton of romancy kind of stuff.

This book, maybe even more than any of the other books in this series, is filled to the brim with total chaos, sexy deities, utter craziness, and did I say chaos?Brutus’s heart is broken. The universe had given Colel two fated mates, but she chose Rhys, not Brutus. He’s given up on finding love for himself. For now, he has other pressing issues, like saving the world. The plague is sweeping all of the immortal world, causing any unmated beings to flip, meaning if they were good, now they are bad. The world is in chaos. Brutus has traveled to the Amazon jungle to find a village of beautiful female warriors that live there, hoping to convince them to come back with him and hopefully mate with some of the immortals. Of course, things don’t go as planned. Not only is he taken prisoner, one woman in particular has made him forget all about what happened with Colel. The only problem is, she hates him.Fina is the daughter of the queen of their village. She doesn’t agree with their archaic ways. But her mother won’t listen to her ideas. When the gorgeous man walks into their village, she can’t help but feel the zing when they touch. But men aren’t allowed. That is the rule. And this beautiful man has no idea what he’s gotten himself in to!I have to also mention that we get a lot more of Zac and Tula’s saga in this one. Mimi has been torturing us with their ongoing dilemma throughout this series. If there ever were two people that deserve a happy ending, it’s these two. There really isn’t much more that I can say without spoiling anything. Only that I advise you to hang on to your hat when you’re reading this one. I might be alone in thinking there are hidden messages throughout this book, real life messages. But, one thing is for certain. This is a wild ride from cover to cover. Have fun!!!For more about this book and so many others, come and visit me at Carol's Crazy Bookish World.https://www.facebook.com/groups/Carol...

And crazy pretty much sums up this book. A crazy mess guaranteed to make you laugh out loud, get you a little hot and bothered, and just maybe leave you with a little food for thought. If you’re ready to escape into a world that’s even more messed up than ours, with endearing characters who will steal your heart and leave you with a smile on your face, teleport this one to your device and start reading right away!

As usual, nothing goes as it should! Neither Zac nor Brutus has much luck, although Brutus does “get lucky” many times, whether he likes it or not. Once again, the build up to the ending leaves you in the edge of your seat and the last page leaves you yelling “Noooo!” Now we wait till 2021 to find out where this goes! Mimi Jean is almost as evil as her characters!

If you don’t mind those, I encourage you to read this novel (and the whole series if you haven’t already)!!!Ever since I discovered her books last year or so, I became a Mimi aficionada, and I just love her style (romance, paranormal, humor, what else does a girl need?). 🙂 I say it for all her novels, they are so funny! If I’m feeling a little down, I read them to feel better, even if it lasts only for the few hours I need to finish–I mean devour them! It’s the kind of stories that absorb you completely, and you feel like one of the protagonists. Yes, the one that tags along and can’t help whatsoever, except to yell at the others to be careful or be quick about something. But I don’t mind being in the backseat. I enjoy hanging out with my new “friends.”I always have a Mimi’s book on the side for when I need friends to cheer me up. The kind that help you put life on hold (like taking you out for ice cream or to party but without moving from the couch). So, yes, for me Brutus is therapy. 🙂I can’t say anything about what happens in the book, because I’m afraid to spoil it. I want everybody to enjoy it, so I will keep quiet. Just read it, you will not be disappointed!

Brutus is the latest in Mimi’s Immortals universe. This universe was introduced in her Accidentally series and they continued to evolve in her Immortal Matchmakers series. Both series are in my all time favorite series and I have read each book multiple times, finding something new with each read. I reached for Brutus with extreme excitement, equally thrilled and terrified to see where Mimi’s immortals would take me and what plot twists would pop up along the way. Let me start off with saying th Brutus is the latest in Mimi’s Immortals universe. Let me start off with saying that while you could read this as a stand-alone, I highly recommend that you at least go back to the first Immortal Matchmakers book because you deserve the best reading experience.Brutus kicks off with the universe on the verge of collapsing. That is right, it is another apocalypse! This one is handled with even more irreverence than ever before and there are plenty of laughs to be had and tie-ins to what is going on in the world today, giving the reader a way to laugh at the ugliness that is 2020. There is also plenty of “grown up” stuff to go around. Most of it is mentioned as either something that has already happened or something someone wants to happen but there are a couple of live action, tastefully graphic interactions. The world is ending again, so of course people want to get their last woo-hoo in before it all goes up in flames. Along with the laugh out loud moments and the schmexy times, there is some heartfelt “aww” moments. Mimi always gets the humor, heart, and heat levels just right. While the book does end on a cliffy but with Mimi’s books, I never mind. It is a series and this is how she gives us clues about what is to come in the next book. My shenanigan book buddy and I always say it is not a Mimi book until we scream, "Damn it, Mimi!" a few times. That is part of what makes them so awesome, you see. What worked for me – the perfect mixture of humor, heart, and heat . The chapter hooks were on point. The action packed, fast but steady pace kept me engaged. The outstanding dialogue provided the wit and sentimentality that makes Mimi's books stand out from the crowd. The fantastic world building allows readers to get lost in the Mimiverse. The touching base with some of the characters from previous books lets us check in with some of our favorites and sends back for rereads. The satisfying ending that left me eager for the next book. Who knew Tula had it in her? (I did! Late bloomers are often the brightest of the bunch.)Overall – Brutus was every bit the rocking roller coaster ride Mimi’s fans adore and expect. There is never a dull moment for these characters and getting lost in their story was an excellent escape from the tediousness of 2020.

The Immortal Matchmakers, Inc. - Book 1 (Andrus) was actually my VERY first Mimi Jean book! After Andrus I went back to devour all the Accidentally books, and now I’m pretty sure I own her complete works. #sorrynotsorryWe see nearly EVERYONE from the Immortal Matchmakers world make an appearance throughout this book, which I just loved. That check in to see what they’re all up to after we’ve absorbed their stories earlier in the series is such a treat! In my opinion, this series is best read in order, because there is a LOT (of amazingness) going on. Mimi Jean’s world building is fantastically fun!If you enjoy hilariously sassy wit, adventure, steamy romance - and a serving of extra chaos and crazy courtesy of the Goddess of the Underworld, then you absolutely need this book. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. However, I’ve purchased MANY of Mimi Jean’s books in the past, and would have happily 1-clicked this one! My general rating rationale:3 – Perfectly fine story, perhaps some minor editorial errors. Entertaining. Typically with this rating I feel like there could have been MORE – be it believably/relatability, character development, internal dialogue, explanations or depth, richness to the overall storyline, etc. May lose a bit of engagement here and there but always finish reading.4 – A very good book. Engaging, with well-developed characters, a great plot, relatable scenarios; keeps you invested to the last page. Would recommend to reader friends.5 – Can’t say enough amazing things, loved the characters, fabulously detailed plot, a quick hook, intense investment in both story and characters (including supporting characters) throughout the book. Will tell anyone who will listen that they should read it (if they won’t listen, I’ll be louder).

In the end, the apocalypse did more damage than anyone could imagine and so did Brutus! He had 93 problems but his girl wasn’t one! I wouldn’t consider them problems because they would be more help to the village than anything! This is one twist I was not expecting but with Mimi Jean, I KNEW the unexpected was coming! I really enjoyed this book! Even though I read them completely out of order, I couldn’t tell! Each story from before, old and new all entwined with each other, picking up where they each left off! Mimi Jean did not disappoint! Now I’m going get every single book that I don’t have and reread the ENTIRE series over to prepare for the next installment!Great, great, great book and phenomenal story!

Maybe more amazing as you get to know the characters better. Actually, I've written every book that Mimi Jean has every published, and they're all good. And no, I'm not secretly her cousin or friend or something, lol. Personally, I am partial towards her supernatural books like this one as being especially good. The sad part is that this series (everything set in this world) is wrapping up soon, I think. The good news is that it's not over, yet! And she writes pretty fast, even though it feels like forever between books since I have a tendency to finish them within 24 hours. The other good news is that when this is over, she'll still be writing amazing books (at extremely reasonable prices, if you prefer to own rather than borrow from the library). The ending of Brutus broke my brain a little, but I've had a couple days to digest it now, and am looking forward to finding out what happens next!

But things don't go as planned because these warriors haven't encountered a male specimen in a very long time and they are all sex crazed man hating mannibilisms. Let's just say that Brutus is a extremely virile man that meanest and most resilient warrior cannot ignore. It's crazy, I know, but this story just works. It's filled to the brim with shenanigans that are extreme and ridiculous leaving you giggling and wanting more.Although this book is about a new couple, I would suggest reading all the books in this series so you would not be as lost as me. The books are interconnected and has chapters from other characters POV as well. It also ends in a cliffhanger of sorts. It makes me wonder what truly goes on in that brilliant crazy mind of Mimi Jean. Her imagination and creativity is superb, refreshing and totally wild.

I love when I'm chosen to ARC read for one of my all time favorite authors!Thank you! What a load of absolute, hilarious drivel! I was only an hour in, and had lost count of all the snorts and giggles. So, with this being (apparently) the last book from this series, you'd be expecting a nice story with not too much drama? How Dare You!!!! How Double Dare You!! How could you even expect something so droll and boring from Mimi. Of course there's no nice story and definitely no lack of drama! WOW!!! The end of the world!Of course, there is a HEA, for some of the characters, not for all! So who gets the happy and who doesn't? Haven't we happied everyone? Hahahaha, I'm not telling.Wait to meet "The General" Senor Gato, and Mimi's favorite friend Cliffy. Yes, she can even give us one of those in a final book!!!! Or can she? Maybe it's not really the end for the Matchmakers? This was a great laugh a minute read for me, full of utter rubbish, like Minky's sparkly toilet!! and other assorted hilarities, that I'm sure lead to Mimi being classed as not quite right in the 'ead.Thank the gods for that!!!I have loved this series, and it will be sad to see it finally end,BUT, onwards and upwards!

This installment of the Immortal Matchmakers is just what the doctor (or Gods??) ordered during the crazy times that we are currently living in. Once he finds the tribe, he meets Fina the tribe princess that at first is the bane of his existence in that she is stubborn, opinionated, strong willed, intelligent all on top of being a skilled warier. Sacrifices are made and internal discoveries are made on top of the sexual chemistry added with the chaos of the ongoing events that are taking place as well as the usual chaos of the Gods not to mentioning Cimil and you get one great read. Also in this book we get to catch up with Zac and Tula as he works feverishly to get his HEA with her as well as find her body and break his promise to Minkie. Overall, this was a great read that I could not get enough of once I started it. The only thing that I was sorry about was that this book had an end point and now I have to wait to see what Mimi has in story for us next. This is a definite must read for fans of this series.

Brutus and the babes....Mimi Jean Pamfiloff has done it again. Her Immortal Matchmakers, Inc series just keeps getting better with each book written. As with her Accidental series which first introduced us to the gods featured in this series, her books don't focus exclusively on the character the book is about. She has brought in other characters such as Cimil "the Insane" and Zac "the Stalker of Tula" (just the names are correct not the descriptions attached). And while it isn't necessary, reading the series in order is suggested as each book kinda leads into the next, introducing characters that will become important in subsequent books. She gives each character a personality much like an onion - many layers and the more you peel away, the deeper the flavour it will produce. She also doesn't pigeonhole the characters into "the rescuers and the rescued", allowing everyone to be a bit of both - especially in this book! Plus, as with this book, and much to my frustration, she has given us a glimpse into the next book! As for the title of this review, well, you'll just have to read the book to see what I am referring to! Happy reading!

But I am sooooo excited that Zak finally gets his own book!!!!!!!! I absolutely adored this book. Read it! You won't be disappointed!!I recieved an ARC for my honest review.

This entire series, The Immortal Matchmakers, is some good escapist paranormal romance. If you're into paranormal with loads and loads of heat, this is the series for you.You do not need to read this series in order since they're all standalones, but I find that it definitely helps to have read them in order as prior characters appear in the subsequent novels. This is fun, funny, engaging and sometimes mind-boggling, but in a good way.
