Surrender (Seaside Pictures, #4)
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken comes the next standalone rockstar romance in her Seaside Pictures series…I had his posters on my wall when I was sixteen and when I accidentally got pregnant in high school—his was the face I dreamt of when I closed my eyes at night. Now, over twenty years later, that dream's turned into a reality. Not only is Drew Amhurst in my tiny town of Seaside, live and in the flesh…But he's mentoring my rockstar son.Drew says he's mine for a week. And he made me three promises."No strings attached.""No falling in love.""It's only seven days."He's confident that he can help me rediscover myself both in and out of the bedroom, and I'm confident that he's too arrogant for his own good. And at the end of seven days, he swears he'll walk out of my life the way he came into it.The only problem is, the more I get to know him, the more I want to surrender the last pieces of my heart and beg him to stay.

Just know that walking out that door doesn't mean I'm not fully planning on walking back in." DrewImagine meeting your celebrity high school crush and find out that the person you have been crushing on for years now is crushing on you. Woweeeee.....That is what happens to Bronte Connors. The rock star she was in love with in her teens is now wanting to be with her. Talk about a fantasy come to life. I loved this theme and premise right away.Next let's talk about Drew Amhurst, the rock legend. My mother told me when I was younger to marry a man that made me laugh. So a sense of humor is very important to me. Drew was hilarious. He was the most quick-witted hero I have ever read. Constantly teasing and flirting he just makes a woman swoon on top of the fact that he is gorgeous and a writes beautiful songs. I absolutely loved Drew and could not get enough of him.Bronte Connors married and had children very young so she really missed out on life. Now she is being swept off her feet by the enigmatic Drew. She is learning to let loose and enjoy life which is very apropos and I liked her character. The story focuses on Drew giving Bronte one week of pleasure and fun for her fortieth birthday and boy does he come through. Who knew rock stars were so romantic? Their passion was palpable and sizzling hot. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Fast paced with witty dialogue including amazing secondary characters (Bronte's children) truly brought this book to life. It is a slow burn but the desire is strong between the hero and heroine. This is the first book I have read in the series and it can be read as a stand alone. I am definitely going to read the other books in the series because this one was good. My only negative point is I wished the book focused more on Drew's demons to add more depth. But overall a very pleasant summer read. I recommend.Note: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. Read about more bad boys/alphas at www.anovelqueen.com.

Terrific Rockstar Romance! This was a wonderful romance between a Rockstar and a mother who hasn’t had enough fun in her life. I really liked the fact that the heroine Bronte, had her first child at sixteen years old so she was really a grown up way too soon. She completely missed that fun part of life when you are young and having all the fun with little responsibility.Along comes the Hero Drew Amherst, who is nearly the same age as her and has been a rockstar since he was young. Bronte actually Terrific Rockstar Romance! Bronte actually had a huge crush on him when she was in high school and now her grown son is his protégée. Bronte’s son Braden was discovered by Drew and is now a rock star in his own right and has recently gotten married. Bronte also has a daughter away at college and an teenage daughter, Amelia at home who had cancer. They are about to find out if the cancer has returned or is still in remission. Bronte’s ex husband never really loved her and was forced by his parents to marry her. So he cheated on her during their entire marriage and divorced her when the kids were young and is not a part of their lives.Bronte is the kind of woman who has always had to rely on her self and has never really been in love and had someone love her back and want to take care of her. I see a lot of myself in her, since (aside from the child with cancer), I had basically the same background. Boy would I love a rockstar to start paying attention to me like Drew paid to Bronte.Drew is a recovering drug addict and has been clean for over three years, but he is lonely. All of his band mates have been getting married and having young children and he is the only one who is still alone. He is also having a bit of writers block while he should be writing their next album. He sees Bronte, whom he has been crushing on since he first met her. Braden is going on a belated honeymoon during the week of Bronte’s birthday so he asks Drew to watch over his Mom and take her out for a good time. Though both Drew and Bronte know that he is only in town for a week, Bronte agrees to go out with him during that week and try to let her worries go and have some fun for once in her life. What happens from there is a sweet and steamy week of fun, sun, horseback riding, picnics, hot kisses and more.I also liked the fact that her daughter Amelia played a big part in the book. She was funny and her interactions with drew were priceless. I don’t always like books where the women are mothers because sometimes the children are just in the way of the story, but this one was great. I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own. Blog|Goodreads|Facebook|Instagram|Twitter|BookBub

Tired from raising kids and working hard to keep them safe, she has learned to overcome! Her oldest son has found success in the music industry and finally, Bronte is getting some well deserved TLC! Despite all of the amenities her new life has to offer, she is missing something vital to living a beautiful life- love. When she and her daughter run into a famous rockstar, her entire world is turned upside down. Drew (a smoking hot bad boy rockstar) instantly recognizes Bronte as his protégés mom! It doesn’t take him long to decide he wants a tiny piece of her heart. But when he gets that piece he realizes it’s not going to be enough! Drew wants all of Bronte...every single piece of her heart and soul! "I throbbed for her, hurting to join the song. After all, it was a duet. A sweaty duet." Told in multiple POV, Surrender is a fun and flirty read full of witty dialogue and expert character development. The dynamics between Drew and Bronte are quite extreme and yet, I thoroughly enjoyed the way in which they fit together so perfectly. The family element is strong in this read and paired with the fast and furious rock lifestyle, you get the best of both worlds! After devouring all of Drew and Bronte, I would not hesitate to explore more of this series! "I never imagined a single kiss could alter the way you saw the world, but somehow, she'd just done that." Overall, Rachel Van Dyken is an expert storyteller who creates exquisite text that paints a vivid picture of the setting. Additionally, the characters draw you in and don’t let you go! The band aspect in this read was well placed as the shenanigans of the band only enhanced the story more and added a nice ensemble element to the read. This book would appeal to rock romance fans! Van Dyken is one of my favorite paranormal authors and now I am excited to explore more. For more reviews/reveals/giveaways visit:

Even though he’s now older and wiser, he still has his demons to battle, but perhaps the gorgeous Bronte can sooth his raged edges. Maybe it wasn’t about fixing what was broken and then handing it over; maybe it was about merging our pieces into one. It’s also worth mentioning that Drew was a fantastic Not-Dad (inside book joke) to Bronte’s youngest daughter Amelia who kept interrupting them in the most adorable teen like fashion and who Drew just loved on with his impossible to resist charisma and sage advise. “One step at a time. The only thing that happens when you stand still is that the world keeps on spinning, sweetheart.” ~ Drew to Amelia ➵ Heroine: 5. Bronte Connors. Divorcee. Mother of three, including Branden Connors, Drew’s protégé (from Provoke, novella 3.7. She loves her children but getting pregnant at 16 deprived her of all the fun shenanigans teens get into. Of course it’s also made her an independent woman who doesn’t need to rely on anyone. Not even the super sexy rock star who’s offering to help get back her groove. “I could spend the rest of my life staring at you and still see something new across your face. I will be fascinated by you until the day I die.” ~Drew to Bronte➵ Sexiness: 5. Bronte had a crush on the rock god since she was a teen and Drew went gaga over her since he first met her. They had a wonderful witty, flirty rapport and a deep appreciation for one another which made their chemistry explosive. “You’re breathtaking.” I leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her lips. “Devastatingly gorgeous.” Another kiss to the side of her mouth. “My tongue’s favorite taste.” ~Drew to Bronte ➵ Feels: 5. Raw, angsty, swoony. The snippets show you the swoon, what’s raw is the fact that Drew has lived hard and fast and has a lot of baggage and doesn’t want to burden Bronte with it, but in order to truly be together, they both need to open up and help each other, which was beautiful to read. “You’re my favorite song because everything you do is like music.” ~ Drew to Bronte➵ Secondary characters: Three words: The band chat! It was funny and ridiculous and I loved it. ➵ Plot/Pace: 5. This is a flirty, sexy, swoony and angsty story which I read in a single sitting. Its fluid pace and hooking characters allowed for nothing else than to flip pages until the very end.➵ Facts Surrender is book #4 of the Seaside Pictures series by Rachel Van Dyken. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 STARS I love... love... LOVED Bronte and Drew's story! It was fun and their banter was entertaining. Loved the mission of 'Operation Bronte Connors Gets her Groove Back' and the 'Not-Your-Dad' relationship he had with Bronte's daughter, Amelia. The whole story was endearingly sweet and steamy, and not your typical rock star romance. Surrender by Rachel Van Dyken is an EPIC read that will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!

I laughed , I cried, I swooned and I fall in love irrevocably with this irresistible love story!Drew Amherst is the prototype of misunderstood, broken, destroyed bad boy rockstar. He is drowning under the guilt and shame of his reckless and dark past. And his protégé's mom is like a light his soul is magnetically attracted. Bronte didn't have an easy life either. Her life has been dedicated to her kids and now she feels empty and lonely. Drew takes up the challenge to make her live a little on her birthday and anniversary week. One week. Will it be enough? Specially when both have walls and secrets... I don't know how RVD writes these broken bad boys in every single story. Drew's pain ripped my heart out, shredded it into tiny pieces and I still haven't put them together. This sexy cocky ahole with nose ring, endless tattoos and bruised heart distract everyone from his true feelings by his joking, smirking and cool attitude. His issues are endless and complicated. Just like Bronte. She is scared of opening up her heart. She is afraid to let go and live selfishly a bit for herself. And her over cautious reactions almost destroyed them. I loved Drew's sweet and caring side as much as I liked his scorching hot and dirty side. They fought a lot inside but finally they found happily ever after in unexpected ways. Their chemistry was sinful and filthy and achingly beautiful! It was equally angsty and steamy. It was temptation and torture wrapped nicely. Every single dirty, witty, sweet agonising, heartaching, swoonworthy and glorious emotion hit me hard. And the BROMANCE! This is just epic. The bandmates of Drew are the best friends one can want. And their group texts were the best things ever. I couldn't control the laughs and smiles. This story has glimpses of other related stories those will be enjoyed by old fans! Surrender by Rachel Van Dyken was an emotional rollercoaster of epic proportions. One moment my heart was happy and swooning. And the next moment she sent me to heartbreaking and angsty hell. It was worthy of all my tears and smiles!Received ARC for honest review

I think I should start this review with a confession: I wish I lived in Seaside. The Seaside and Seaside Pictures series are my absolute favorite from RVDs books. From the second I picked it up and started reading, I just couldn't put it down.I also have to give it extra credit for having not only the always hilarious mandatory group chat sce I think I should start this review with a confession: I wish I lived in Seaside. OMG. I can't tell you how many times i've laughed out loud while reading them and have had my family give me weird looks like... WTF is wrong with you? Ummm, nothing is wrong with me... Rachel is just hilarious. Carry on....Anyways, this is Drew's story and the last in the Seaside Pictures series. (sad face). It always sucks when your favourite series comes to an end. Although, Rachel is giving me quite a few more favourite series to go back to. There's always something good from her that I can read next. You definitely don't want to miss this story! Bronte had kids early. When she was in high school actually and even though she thought the man who gave her kids was going to be her forever - that little fairytale didn't come true. He left them and only decided to even get in touch with them again when he found how his son had hit it big in the music world. When Drew Amhurst showed his face in Bronte's kitchen the day he came to tell them that he was going to be mentoring her son, Braden, Bronte nearly has a heart attack! Her long time celebrity crush was standing in her kitchen! He couldn't get her out of his head after that day and now, when Braden plans to go on his honeymoon before they go on tour, Drew finds himself staying at Bronte's to watch her while her son is away. He's giving himself to her for one week. He's making three promises..."No strings attached.""No falling in love.""It's only seven days."He plans on helping Bronte get her groove back... and then when those seven days are up... he'll walk back out that door and leave. But it may end up being a little harder than expected to keep those promises.Drew is by far a top character and I looooove this story. He has a messy past and a lot of baggage he carries around with him but he still manages to get by and keep the smile pasted and the jokes flowing.... but nobody can hold on forever. One day... they'll crack. You just have to know who to have in your corner. Who will be the one to have your back and keep you from falling? Bronte loves her kids. They mean everything to her and after their father left them... and her, she has a bit of a hard time trusting anyone. But Drew isn't just anyone. This story was so much fun to read. I loved how they interacted with each other, but more entertaining was Drew interacting with Bronte's daughter, Amelia. Amelia is so funny! It was really an entertaining read and I'm happy with the ending that Drew got. He deserved it! I love Drew!Surrender releases June. 23, 2020You can pre-order now!

I just needed her to breathe me in, while I rested in her. This book took me by complete surprise in the best way, I was not prepared for how hilarious The Drew Amhurst was going to be. He was legit the best thing. He had my laughing so loudly that those around me looked at me like I was a lunatic. But there was nothing I could do, Drew was just that good, he left me with a perpetual smile, and a lightness to my soul. I loved his relationship with not only Bronte but her children as well. This brought another layer to this story, watching as his relationship grew and how his easy-going behavior helped in some very difficult situations will have you falling head over heels for this Rockstar. I could write a hundred love songs based on that kiss. Bronte was amazing she is this completely unselfish person who put her entire life on hold to be the best mother she could possibly be. And you can see that in how amazing her children are. She has a gentle soul and has gone through some atrocious things. But she doesn’t let those wear so much on her. She is beyond strong in how she deals with things in her life and you want to just wrap her up in a hug and tell her that it’s okay to be selfish every once in a while. I loved the dynamic between her and Drew, he’s laid back and funny and she’s I’ll be it a little uptight but it’s his demeanor that helps her to let go and have some much needed fun. I never imagined a single kiss could alter the way you saw the world, but somehow, she’d just done that. She’d made me want to sing. This was a thoroughly enjoyable stand-alone story set in the world of Seaside, Oregon. It was nice to see some familiar faces, but not having read many of the Seaside Pictures spin off of books, I didn't feel like I was lost or missing out by having characters mentioned that I hadn't seen before. Speaking to the characters, I definitely liked Bronte a heck of a lot more than I liked Drew. She was relatable, she was realistic. A broken woman who threw herself into being the best mother to her kids that she could be (even if her kids were basically grown). I definitely would have liked to see more wooing from Drew and less sexual innuendos and flat out sex talk. Especially when he propositions her and she gently, but firmly tells him no and he retorts with how she "needs it". Dude I know you're famous and not used to hearing that word, but you know the woman has been celibate for fourteen years (because you ASKED her), let her enjoy "dating" you before she jumps into bed with you.In fact, a big part of what was so annoying about his character is that there was no reason for all the "dirty talk" - there were so many scenes that were just SO romantic (like when they watched the sunset together), that when he suddenly would ask her things like can she wrap her legs around his face - the entire moment was ruined for me. It made it seem like while Bronte was interested in ALL of him, he was only interested in getting between her legs in any way he could. That made me lose interest in him fairly early on, and continue to be annoyed with him when this happened over and over again. Although I have to laugh at the very inventive ways Bronte continued to turn him down. There were some definite moments of character growth for Bronte, one of the biggest being her learning to overcome her fears and let her guard down enough for Drew to become a part of her life in the first place especially given the fact that it was only supposed to be for a week. And Drew (when he wasn't being the aforementioned horndog) did do a great job of being "not-dad" to her youngest daughter Amelia. In fact, numerous times I found myself laughing out loud at the antics not only of Drew and Bronte, but of her daughter Amelia as well. Long story short - this is a quick read that is perfect for a day on the beach. I just wish there would have been less sex talk and more romance. I would definitely read more from this author! Surrender is the fourth full-length novel in the Seaside Pictures series by Rachel Van Dyken! You can read each book as standalone. I still need to read the first one and a few novellas. I need to get one that! I did read Provoke though and that is where you first get a glimpse of Drew shamelessly flirting with his protege’s mom, Bronte. And now, five years later...One week. Drew has one week to show Bronte a good time and I don’t just mean in bed. He wants to make her smile. To laugh. To let her be wild. To have a birthday week that she will never forget. She deserves it. She is a single mom of three. Two are fully grown and one sixteen and a spitfire. Amelia wants to give this to her too. Bronte was only sixteen when she became a mom and now was the time to let loose. Give in. With her teen crush. The one who she never thought would be standing in her kitchen making her breakfast. She had the posters. She had the lunchbox. And now, Drew was here and she wanted him. All of him. Demons and all. But, what will happen when the week was over? Awe!!! I am truly and absolutely in love with Drew. Holy shit...he is hilarious, sweet, insightful and sexy. I knew their story would be good but it was so much more than that. It was everything. I loved their connection. Their banter. Their sparks. And his relationship with Amelia? The best! They cracked me up. Hard. I can’t even with those two. Overall...it’s my favorite of the series. Drew and Bronte made me swoon, laugh, and cry. I will say it again, I love Drew and I just might have a girl crush on Bronte. Lol. Quotes: “On a scale of one to ten, how offended would you be if I asked you to just wrap those legs around my face?” “And strangle you?” “Sweet death, take me,” I growled and then reached for her.“Amelia’s in the other—” “We have an understanding.” “Huh?” “I talked with her, told her I was going to get you pregnant and be her new daddy.” “WHAT!”“You stare at me a lot.” She chewed her lip nervously. “Because each time I look at you, I see something different,” I confessed.

I know I'm not alone when I say that I've been waiting for Drew's book. I think there are many fans of RVD and the Seaside/Seaside Pictures series that were waiting for this guy to meet his match and in true RVD fashion, she struck the exact right note!Drew Amherst is one of the lead singers of Adrenaline and of late, he's also been the mentor for Braden Connors, the newest it guy to hit the music scene. Drew has had a tumultuous past, a lot of which he wishes he could forget, and that has caused him to be misunderstood, feel a tremendous amount of guilt and shame and on many occasions, it makes him feel very much alone. He wants to be happy like everyone around him, but he's not and he's not sure exactly how to get to that place.Bronte Connors is the mother of Braden and she also has two daughters, one of which is already out of the house and then Amelia who is still at home. Bronte was a young mother who was left divorced and alone to raise three children. She's done a great job, but in the process she's neglected herself and put all of her focus into her kids. It's time for her to focus on herself, but will she really do it? Oh and let's not forget that Bronte has had a crush on Drew since high school! When Braden leaves for his honeymoon, he doesn't want his Mom to spend her birthday alone, so he gives in to the suggestion that Drew spend time with her even though he's repeatedly asked him to stop hitting on her! Once the two start spending time together are they really going to be able to just be friends? Or will it turn into something more?I absolutely adore this group of people! This can be read as a standalone, but to have the other band members in the story, it just made me smile. That text conversation was EVERYTHING! Amelia is also another bright spot in the book. Her relationship with Drew is awesome and the whole Not-Dad thing was inspired. I enjoyed watching these two people who have been so broken in the past help one another to become closer to whole again.Great work by RVD and you definitely need to pick this one up. It will be a great summer read!**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**

It has been far too long since I spent time in Seaside and I have honestly missed being there. Surrender is the fourth book in the Seaside Pictures series and can be read as a standalone. The story grabbed my attention in the very first chapter and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Bronte and Drew are perfect for each other and I adore them. It has been fabulous spending time with them both and I love how natural they are around each other. I am certain that the majority of the time I had a huge smile on my face when witnessing their interactions. I hated that they both had demons that they needed to put to rest but I felt that being in Seaside, surrounded by their incredible family and friends was the perfect time to try and move forward..... preferably together. I can’t help but love the times when Rachel Van Dyken adds group chats to her stories. They usually have me laughing out loud and the texts in Surrender did exactly that - they were brilliant! This is a must read. I have loved reading a book that hasn’t been too heavy and has kept me engaged throughout, although I do feel that everything happened very quickly between Drew and Bronte but maybe that's an age thing and they simply felt the need to grasp every opportunity with both hands. I award Surrender 4.5 stars and hope that it won’t be too long before we head back to Seaside again.

True undeniable talent!  I don’t know how Rachel Van Dyken does it.  She can write serious mafia, intriguing paranormal, laugh-out-loud comedy, hot sexy Rockstar, and all of it with romance.  There hasn’t been a book she has written that I didn’t just love.  Surrender is the latest in the Seaside Pictures books and it was AMAZING!  The appearance of the other band members make it feel familiar, but it is a completely standalone book like the rest. Drew was funny and sexy yet still the tortured artist while Bronte (BTW I love her name) was the responsible mom that just needed a good time and Drew was just the man to show it to her.  I read this in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down.  Thank you, Mrs. Van Dyken, for yet another 5-star spectacular read. Drew Amhurst is struggling.  Struggling with recording new music. Struggling with writing new music. Struggling with watching his band mates and friends all living their best lives while he sits alone being jealous of what they have.  Bronte Connors has always had to be responsible.  Raising three kids basically on her own and then having her husband abandon them has left little time for Bronte to have her own life.  Now her teenage crush Drew Amhurst wants to spend a week with her and show her how to have fun.  How can Bronte possibly give up her control and let her hair down?  How can Drew spend time with this beautiful woman and not surrender his heart to her and loose what is left of himself in the process.

We do learn about some hurdles they both faced but I felt like I never really got the whole picture of what happened especially with Drew. There were hints but I still felt I am left with questions in the end. This made me think there is more in the first three stories that discuss his past that I missed. If I could change one thing about the book, I would have started the story with a prologue. It felt a little strange starting with them both already being attracted to each other and I did not read the first three books in the series to know whether the character’s storyline began already. Either way I think if we had gotten a little backstory about them before that point maybe the plot would have been more seamless.I did enjoy this book and the dynamic Bronte and Drew had with all the characters. I will be checking out the first three books to see what I missed out on. Great job Rachel Van Dyken!

I love my visits back to Seaside because it always feels like I’m coming home to catch up with family and friends. 3 3/4 stars! Not entirely 4 but not three. I really enjoy reading this authors books. Like the way she writing is easy and flowey. All about a woman actually putting herself first for once and taking time for herself. She was a really strong character! Where the book lost points was with Drew or Andrew. He was a bit pushy and creepy. I know he meant to take her out of her comfort zone which she wouldn’t have done alone but he pushed so much that it made me uncomfortable. At times it was too much. To foreword. Too sexual. Too overbearing. I don’t know. Maybe it’s me... so needless to say I wasn’t team drew but I was happy he was helping her. Good book all in all.
