you know what, when a non-queer author announces that all of the money they earn for a queer book they've written goes to queer charity? We cry, we stan, we buy the damn book.

Simon, Bram, Leah, and Abby are all in college now, dealing with being away from home, trying to make the most of their college experience, navigating long-distance relationships and love and all the beauty and insecurities that come with it.“When we say we want to freeze time, what we mean is that we want to control our memories. We want to choose which moments we’ll keep forever. We want to guarantee the best ones won’t slip away from us somehow. So when something beautiful happens, there’s this impulse to press pause and save the game. We want to make sure we can find our way back to that moment.”This book is told all in emails back and forth. Some of the emails have a surprising amount of emotion contained in them, and the discussion about finding the memories you want to keep forever, like the quote above, even choked me up a little.I’ve really loved these stories and these characters, and also adored the Love, Simon movie. I definitely saw the actors in my head as I was reading this. (I also may have watched a few clips from the movie on YouTube once I finished this book.)I just wish this was longer!! Even though she said before publishing this that she didn't intend to do any sequels or follow-ups, I do hope that Becky Albertalli plans to revisit the Creekwood gang again because I didn’t realize just how much I missed them until I read this.Albertalli is donating all of the proceeds from this book to The Trevor Project, which is an organization near and dear to my heart, as are so many others I support. The beauty of my month-long Pride Reads effort continues!!Check out my list of the best books I read in 2019 at https://itseithersadnessoreuphoria.blogspot.com/2020/01/the-best-books-i-read-in-2019.html. Really cute and totally worth the read - it's a good one-sitting visit into how all the characters of Simon Vs. are doing in college. Wish it was a full novel! I especially recommend buying because Becky Albertalli is donating all of her advance & royalties to The Trevor Project. I would sell my soul for an arc of this

But I got it and I hate that book even more now - Leah is... Leah. Ugh.Let’s just say I’ll try to delete this book from my memory and give that space to Love, Victor instead.******So,,,I’m almost done with Love, Victor and I swear that show makes me so emotional. Victor/Michael Cimino is the cutest person alive. I need this novella right now.

Wrapping up the Simonverse with a novella consisting of all emails seems appropriate and almost poetic— but it didn’t make for the most exciting read. Still, it was great catching up with these characters, and I listened to the audiobook just so I could hear Michael Crouch as Simon one last time. This was unnecessary fan service, through and through, and I honestly think it shows that it was written within two weeks, but if you’re a Simon fan you’ll enjoy it. Love, Creekwood is the epilogue I wanted. I absolutely enjoyed every second I spent reading this, which honestly wasn't very many seconds since this book was only 100 pages long. I teared up quite a bit. Becky Albertalli just has a way to hit you in the feels unlike any other YA contemporary author. I don't want to say good-bye to these characters yet!!!!!!!!!! I'm sort of sad!!!

this should be retitled as, "how to cry for 100 pages: the manual".it was so sad seeing this series come to a close but being able to follow these friends in their first year of college was lovely. it highlights the struggles of long distance relationships and coming to terms with saying that four letter L word, all while giving us a perfect epilogue to the simonverse. i loved every page.(time to start again from the beginning)

So this was obviously super sweet. And made me really nostalgic for SIMON VS. (I can't believe it was only five years ago? I get are a thing, but they've always irritated me, and feel even weirder now that JK Rowling has been declaring her TERF-ness loudly and proudly. Like... it just feels icky and unaware. But I have no idea when she wrote this book, so! There's that! Also a Mackenzie Lee book was mentioned, which, again, I don't know when this book was written, but Lee has been called out multiple times for racism and messiness, so that also felt tone deaf :( I'd buy and read if you can, though, just because all the money is going to charity and I suppose that's more important than mentions of messy white authors. Plus, Becky is the best.

But I want more!!!Also, the book goes from the end of August to the end of March. We get to see a lot of special days for Simon and Bram. But it couldn’t have been pushed just a little bit until May? We couldn’t see Leah and Abby’s anniversary?Anyway. I love these characters. And I do also genuinely love this book. It just felt like something was missing. I just… expected more. 4/24/20This is what 2020 deserves.
