He really said “That’s Lord Damian to you, old man.” BOIOperation Best Buddies Damian thinks Anya likes him... so I guess that works for the plan. He thinks it’s cute that she’s shy. Anya being a sassy queen. She told Damian “Aww aren’chu so glad?”Anya punched the shit out of Damian and it was honestly the best power move she could’ve made. Lloyd is freaking out because he never foresaw such a thing happening Umm the fact that Lloyd quit smoking for Anya... sir your dedication has me whipped The whole penguin ordeal was supremely entertaining Anya’s on a mission to apologize to DamianLloyd shows Anya a sign with a mirror and she thinks it’s a message from God I’m- Damian’s all flustered cuz he kinda lowkey likes her even tho she punched the shit out of him. Yoru’s brother found out his sister’s married. Oh snap Yuri (Yoru’s bro) is a member of the secret police. Oof his job is to capture spies. Oh yikes. Oh no, he’s after Twilight which is Lloyd. Oh no. Ummm so Yuri seems all cute and soft but this is a damn cunning man. Also what a coincidence both he and Yoru basically work to torture/kill other people and they both keep it a secret from the other. Guess it runs in the family? Lmao they’re all fake. Lloyd, Yoru, and Yuri. Lloyd figures out that Yuri’s caught up with the intelligence agency. Yuri’s like way too nosy. It’s Yoru’s first kiss I’m- Yoru punches the shit out of Yuri and the hit wakes Anya up for a second she looked so funny, bless her soul.

Damien tries to bully her, but of course, Anya being Anya, and her having gotten some advice from Yor, unintentionally makes power plays that leaves Damien on uneven footing (poor kid is also sort of crushing on her, but I don't like the 'if he bullies you, he likes you' trope soooo) and gets her another girl as a friend (who is awesome btw, but Anya is not interested). Twilight, meanwhile, is considering if his missions take too much of his life, and whether he needs a vacation, since he is so stressed. I was particularly amused by his expenses giving his handlers pause, all because he wants to keep up the facade of a 'normal family' and also encourage and make Anya happy; if only he knew how well she supports his mission, sometimes even roping in Yor, who doesn't know. Speaking of Yor, I love seeing her and Anya together - she absolutely adores Anya, and is so protective about her. One particular scene has her beating down a group of possible kidnappers with her groceries, in complete reversal of her sophisticated housewife image lol. They just didn't know who they were messing with! I honestly look forward to more shenanigans from this family, especially with the introduction of Yor's brother now into the dynamic, a brother who himself has secrets of his own. This is still so stinking cute. I love Anya's character design, she is too too adorable! So in this volume, we see Anya start her scholastic career on a very bad foot, after punching out the son of the man Twilight has been sent to spy on. Also, the family faces their biggest challenge yet when assassin mom's little brother, who has secrets of his own learns she is married and wants to come for a visit.

I have a entertaining new manga review to share with you today. Please note: I received a digital ARC of this book (via NetGalley) from its publisher in exchange for an honest and fair review. Spy X Family Vol 2 by Tatsuya Endo is the second magna in the Spy X Family Series. This is my first manga series and I love it so much! I never knew I needed to know what would happen if you created a family with an assassin mom, a world class spy dad, and a psychic child. But now I know and I can't stop thinking about them! Like Vol 1, Spy X Family Vol 2 is pure joy from start to finish. I devoured it in one sitting! The cover art is delightful, and keeps the sleek modern feel the series is known for. It is also a perfect compliment to the Vol 1 cover. This time we see Anya aka the psychic child featured on the cover. She is also the main focal character in this portion of the series. The entire storyline is unique and the characters interaction with each other was great; even darn right funny at times. What makes Spy X Family Vol 2 so great is the fantastic way Tatsuya Endo is able to balance the action, espionage, personal turmoil, and heartwarming family moments seamlessly. No moment ever feels forced. We continue to follow the storyline of Twilight a world class spy who, needs the cover of a family in order to infiltrate an elite school and save the world. We also get the added hilarity and drama with the introduction of Yuri's brother who has a secret of his own and has no idea his sister is "married" or an assassin. I cannot wait to see what events unfold in Vol 3!The artwork as always is superb and very appealing. I felt the style is well suited to the story and very clean and crisp. This was a nice departure from everything else I am currently reading and wholly unique. I will definitely continue on with the series. Published by VIZ Media, Spy X Family Vol 2 will release on September 1, 2020 and is available for pre-order from all major booksellers. I give Spy X Family Vol 2 5 out of 5 gems. I'm looking forward to reading the next installment in this great series. Happy Reading!

Going StrongThe first volume in this series was very entertaining. Most of that was because the first volume covered the three main characters and the amusing fashion in which their spy family was assembled. The characters were witty, and the narrative was crisp and lively, with some satisfying dry and deadpan asides. This volume is different. All of the characters are in place, and now they are moving forward with their mission. As to that mission, which involves infiltrating a private school and getting close to a person of interest, well, things move very slowly at first.Happily, after a slow start we hit our stride. The three main characters still don't know each others' secrets, (spy, assassin, telepath), but they are starting to come together as a unit. Much of the humor here is the awkward fashion in which they bond and connect. Each has a different sense of humor, but they mesh very well. As Mom and Dad start to actually think and act like parents the whole new family dynamic is held together with a sly, ironic, and understated touch. As to the mission, the Eden Academy angle looked like it was going to get old. But the author has put some novel spins on the old private school tropes. Between the satire at the expense of snobby private schools, and the silliness of the family's mission to infiltrate the higher levels of influence represented by the school families, there's a lot of room for parody and humor. For all that, this still remains a subtle and understated work of humor, and I continue to very much appreciate and enjoy it's dry approach, and its edgy throwaway lines and bits. This series can be surprising, (and sometimes, oddly enough, very touching), and I remain keen to see how everything works out for the phony Forger family.(Please note that I received a free advance will-self-destruct-in-x-days Adobe Digital copy of this book without a review requirement, or any influence regarding review content should I choose to post a review. Apart from that I have no connection at all to either the author or the publisher of this book.)

He managed to find a woman willing to play the role of his wife, but she is actually an assassin. Meanwhile, he adopted a child who is secretly a telepath thanks to some experiments she was put through. Will Loid be able to fulfill his mission with this strange family, especially after his outburst at the school’s interview? He thought getting a fake family and enrolling his “daughter” into the school would be the hard part; the next steps might prove to be even more difficult! This manga is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I love all three of the main characters; plus, there’s a new character introduced in this volume who might end up being my favorite character! I don’t often laugh out loud at books, but this manga has caused me to do so on numerous occasions! Loid’s stress over this mission plus his disguises are very entertaining, but nothing beats Anya’s reactions to the things she hears as a telepath. Like I said in my review of volume 1, her reactions are hilarious and I love the fact that she tries to assist both of her parents with their work. Yor, the woman playing the role of wife and mother, is also amusing as she’s usually sweet and kind, but occasionally snaps and acts like the killer she is. I really enjoy following this “family” and their shenanigans and can’t wait for the next volume! (Make sure to read the extra content at the end; it’s definitely worth the read!)

While the first volume focuses on Twilight and him trying to form his family for the mission, Volume 2 focuses more on Anya and her role in current mission.
