The Lasaran (Aldebarian Alliance, #1)
New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall brings readers the first novel in a thrilling new sci-fi series full of action, intrigue, humor, and romance.Taelon searches the galaxy for his younger sister, who mysteriously disappeared while on a diplomatic mission. When an ally reveals that she was seized and is being held prisoner on Earth, Taelon descends upon the blue planet, intent on freeing her and exacting vengeance. However, all does not go as planned. Before he can find her, Taelon is captured and becomes the subject of torturous experiments. For what feels like an eternity, all he knows is pain and fury… until a mind tentatively touches his own and a woman’s voice forever changes his world. After suffering tragic losses, Lisa is finally beginning to carve out a future for herself when chance sends her to the Anomalous Cognition Research Institute. What at first appears to be a benign organization seeking participants for a psychic study instead turns out to be a government facility harboring a much darker intent. Lisa discovers this too late and soon becomes the unwilling subject of a terrifying experiment. Just as fear and desperation threaten to consume her, a deep, compelling voice penetrates the looming insanity and lends her hope.Having seen only the worst of humanity, Taelon is shocked when Lisa risks everything to free him. Together the two make their escape, and Taelon finds himself fascinated by the small human woman who—despite all she’s suffered—can still laugh and tease and lure smiles from him. Friendship swiftly grows between them as they work together to evade soldiers intent on capturing them and find themselves hunted by mystifying preternatural beings. Through it all, Lisa steadfastly remains by his side, stealing more of his heart each day while she helps him unravel the mystery of his sister’s fate. Can they find his sister before the hunters find them? If they survive their quest, will Taelon have to bid Lisa farewell… or can he coax her into leaving her planet and joining him for the adventure of a lifetime?

And if you fancy time travel story, you can read about Marcus’s childhood more in this fabulous book to really enjoy this book. There you go, quite a few list, probably is better if you should start reading Immortal Guardians and The Gifted Ones series first! ❤️See, what I mean? 😘😂However, if you want to start to read a new SciFi Romance series, start from this one, because there were important part of that new series here and the next heroine appears in this book. And when Ms. Duvall tease us with book #2? I want that book, now! 😀So, go read this one and it doesn’t cost much either! 😘❤️❤️❤️Ami’s brother story everyone!Yes, yes, he is an alien! Dianne Duvall takes us off planet in her new sci-fi romance series, the Aldebarian Alliance. Taelon is from a galaxy far-far away who sets out to find his sister, after she mysteriously disappeared. The second is from Lisa, a financially strapped college student, who does odd research studies for money. She takes part in a new study involving psychics at the Anomalous Cognition Research Institute. The two will soon find themselves prisoners in a secret government facility.Intense, addictive and brilliant, I quickly slipped into the story. Duvall shared both Lisa and Taelon’s backgrounds as she slowly moved them both into danger and unites them. The story takes place on and off planet Earth and oh boy; it was filled with suspenseful moments, unexpected twists and reveals for fans of Duvall’s Immortal Guardian series. I held my breath and worried about both Lisa and Taelon, especially after they escaped the government compound. The romance was sweet and involved some unusual circumstances and obstacles. I enjoyed their dynamics and their chemistry. His endearments and slang made me laugh and swoon. Lisa is brave, quick-thinking, and I cheered for her often.I find myself tongue tied to avoid spoilers; even as I want to scream, listen now! So go grab it!Kirsten Potter narrated and did such a wonderful job with both characters as she enhanced the tale from suspense to tender moments. The storyline and overall plot for the series ARC has me giddy. I want more and frankly; I want it now! Duvall has promised another Immortal Guardian novel while I wait, but I seriously hope we see the next audiobook soon! Fabulous! A stay up all night to finish read! LOVED this one to pieces! Now, having said all of that. I have read the entire Immortal Guardians series by this author. This book starts a spin off from that series. I truly think that readers will need to read at least books 1,2 and 9 of the IG series in order to best follow what is going on in this book. The world building and lore that has taken place in the previous series is difficult to condense into background information for this book. Plus, Fabulous! A stay up all night to finish read! Plus, this book gives us more history as to what has been happening on Earth with the vampire virus. It is a great paranormal/alien read--hands down! Lots of action. Steamy romance after a slow burn. Lots of characters from the previous series pop up in this one. I just think an first pick up of this author the reader will be confused for a bit about what is going on. This book was teased at the end of Death of Darkness. I squealed when I read the end of that book. Lasaran takes us back a month or so from the end of Death of Darkness and gives us Taelon and Lisa's story. I can't express enough how gripping this story was. I needed to know where these two would land. I LOVED learning more about Tealon and Ami's family. All the space scenes. This could be a movie! Great job! And the peek at the next book in the series---whew!!! I can't wait to add it to my TBR!

I adored this book! It got teased in Seth's story and I couldn't wait to find out about Taelon and Lisa. Well, their connection was real and the way their story unfolded was perfect for this world. I do wish the ending would have been a bit longer so we could see how Lisa adapted to some big changes, but I think we will see that as the series progresses. This story was fantastic and I definitely read this book in one sitting. Can't wait for book 2 now.

I don't know where to start with this review. I love it for one. Dianne has pulled me into another world of hers. I love it many times over and over. 4.5-5 starsThis was a great story and beginning to a new series. In all honesty, I've read Duvall's other books and this one is a spin-off of her "Immortal Guardians" series (Taelon's sister is Ami from Night Reigns) so I was a bit predisposed to like it and was familiar with the background. I think people that haven't read the other series could still follow along with this one fine though as I have a pretty crappy memory and there was enough backstory to remind me of what I'd forgotten.Taelon 4.5-5 starsThis was a great story and beginning to a new series. I think people that haven't read the other series could still follow along with this one fine though as I have a pretty crappy memory and there was enough backstory to remind me of what I'd forgotten.Taelon is a Prince on his planet and his planet has been ravaged by a virus (released by an enemy race) that have made most of the women on his planet infernal. Taelon's little sister is a diplomat for her planet but went missing so when he finds a clue to where she might be, he takes off to find her. Unfortunately, he gets caught when trying to stealthily infiltrate a base where he thought he could find information and became a prisoner for years.Lisa is a student and is doing everything she can to get by. Lisa's last couple years have been rough...her parent both died recently and left her with nothing, no family and no close friends. Lisa is trying to put her life back together, doing well in college and participating in studies for extra money. But one of the studies ended with her a captive on a military base with everyone outside the base thinking she died.I can't give too much info or quickly get into spoilers but lets just say that Lisa and Taelon are kept in the same facility and when some crap goes down (tied to the Immortal Guardian's series events) they manage to escape. After how they'd been treated by the Earth Government, Taelon and Lisa couldn't go to the authorities and they also were being tracked by another organization that they think is run by vampires so they don't know who to trust. Taelon does find out his sister is alive (not where she is) but he was seriously injured in the "examinations" so his powers aren't working well and he can't contact her or his spaceship without his telepathy. This leaves Taelon and Lisa to get through things the hard way. That's not necessarily a bad thing though...it gives them a chance to get to know each other. There's an initial attraction between them and the longer they're together, the more it grows. They do manage to get past the rough parts and in the end, all is well and Taelon and Lisa are starting a HEA together. This was a great story and a good way to delve into a new series. I did wonder if we'd get to find out more about Ami's people and this series looks to be space-based. FYI, this story isn't as action based as some of her other stories. This has some action at the beginning and at the end but a lot of the story was more explaining the new aspects being added to this "world", fleshing out Taelon & Lisa's new relationship and them trying to find help in more of a stealthy way. It's still really good but just be warned. Overall, I thought this was a great start to a new series and found it very engaging so I would recommend it. :)* note - I listened to the audio version of this story and the narrator did a great job. FYI...the last 35 minutes of the audio is actually a preview for the next book.

I didn't realize that the author was going to spin off the Immortal Guardians Series with this new one, but I'm happy that I ran across this book and the connection to the other series. With how this one was written it was the perfect book to pivot to the new series. I think all of us felt like Lisa, a fish out of water, introduced to a whole new world, vampires, immortals, aliens. I felt for Taelon, that he went through things as bad as Ami, but glad that Lisa did what she could to help him. Taelon was so out of his element that he needed Lisa's help. I loved when Taelon finally found his sister and what happened next, their reunion was great! What happened next didn't surprise me, Ami found where she belonged, while Taelon had to go home. Both choices were right for each of them. I loved the trip back home for Taelon and Lisa. It allowed them to get to know each other better, for Lisa to get used to the idea of her new life and for the crew of the ship to learn how Earth women are, a shock for them. The last scene of the book was so great! I loved the welcome that Taelon had, but better was how Lisa was welcomed, she found what she had lost.

I discovered Dianne Duvall a few years ago while hunting through the aisles of my local library. From the first book in the Immortal Guardians series I was hooked. Duvall brings a new, unique voice to the paranormal romance genre, one I never get tired of reading. With this latest installment she veers away from her Guardians while still keeping the reader immersed in the world she has created. Giving us glimpses at the characters we have come to know and love. When I first saw that this would I discovered Dianne Duvall a few years ago while hunting through the aisles of my local library. Tightly written, action packed, and with awesome character development, the author really outdid her previous great works with this one. Fantastic doesn't even begin to describe it! Also, we're moving from not just paranormal, but to sci-fi crissover - which she handles exceedingly well. While reading the previous books from her IG series is recommended, because they are just that good, it isn't necessary. But, I encourage you to read them anyway because you'll understand the back story much better. The Lasaran introduces you to the Immortal Guardians and then takes you on a trip across the galaxy to the planet of Lasara. Along the way you'll meet a bunch of really cool paranormal and new alien beings, which then sets the stage for THIS series - The Aldebarian Alliance. In this one our h/H, Lisa and Taelon, meet under awful circumstances, both having been held prisoner and experimented on. Their escape, from the labs they're held in, brings about a sweet romance, even as they struggle to stay free from those hunting them. Taelon arrived on Earth to search for his sister, Amiriska (Ami), who we meet, briefly, in the 1st book of the IG series, with the 2nd book focused on her (I'll list all IG books at the bottom). Lisa was taken after performing in a "research study" on psychic talents. She is the missing "Gifted One" Seth, the leader of the Immortal Guardians, was searching for in the previous IG story, Death of Darkness. Again, no worries if you haven't read the others, you'll be fine as things are explained throughout. Romance, action, danger, heated passion, long-awaited family reunions, sweet babies and toddlers, paranormal abilities, sci-fi space travel - it's all yours in this excellent addition to Dianne Duvall's writings. Don't miss out on this exceptional series of adventures. I cannot wait for the release of the next book in this series, The Segonian. There is a sample of it at the end of The Lasaran. A spinoff of the Immortal Guardians series, the Aldebarian Alliance starts with Taelon's search for his baby sister across the universe. A lead tells Taelon that his younger sister was on Earth, that she had been captured by humans and might be dead now. Determined to find the truth, Taelon travels to the blue planet to find her or at least to find out what happened to her. But before he can start his search and rescue mission, Taelon is captured and help prisoner much as Ami had been. For years he suffers unthinkable pain and torture. The subject of sadistic experiments, he feels weak and defeated until a mind tentatively touches his own and a woman’s voice forever changes his world. Still struggling to make ends meet, after the tragic loss of her parents and her home, Lisa is finally beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel. By becoming a subject in a psychic study, Lisa earns some much needed extra cash for school and bills. But what started as a light, soon becomes a nightmare as she wakes up from a seven-month coma and realizes she's a prisoner. Lied to by every nurse and doctor that she comes in contact with, Lisa soon realizes that the only person she can trust is herself and the male voice inside her head. Under any other circumstance, Lisa would think she was losing her mind, but Taelon soothes her fears and helps her keep her focus to plan her escape. As the military base where Taelon and Lisa are being held is attacked by vampires, Lisa will risk everything to free him. The Lasaran shares its timeline with Death of Darkness (Seth's book), and as the beloved characters from the original series appear and give body to this story, it is both exciting and amusing to see the mistakes and successes that each share. The Lasaran introduces a ton of new characters, both friend and foe, it is unexpected, adventurous, sexy, and leaves readers with a taste of what's to come next. It is action-packed, thrill driven, and love bound. In other words, if you enjoyed The Immortal Guardians series so far, this is a must-read!

Excited about his new series.Im excited about this new series!!!!!Honestly,as well written as this was Lisa and Taelon just didnt do it foe me.They were both too tentative and tepid for me. I so did not feel their chemistry or attraction for one another .Taelon is a really good and decent guy,but he was like a Amish guy kinda wanting to break out and be more contemporary at times but stuck in a Hallmark movie trying to work it out. What I man was it didnt feel quite natural ,more stilted and Excited about his new series.I’m excited about this new series!!!!!Honestly,as well written as this was Lisa and Taelon just didn’t do it foe me.They were both too tentative and tepid for me. I so did not feel their chemistry or attraction for one another .Taelon is a really good and decent guy,but he was like a Amish guy kinda wanting to break out and be more contemporary at times but stuck in a Hallmark movie trying to work it out. What I man was it didn’t feel quite natural ,more stilted and awkward. Kinda passionate at times ,but to unsure and uncertain to let passion have full rein.I know they met in a rally bizarre and strange and frightening way, but sometimes when the attraction and chemistry and just plain kismet of kindred spirits is there the amount of time together doesn’t matter. You just click together. I know it’s rare but I think we’ve all had ppl come into our lives that just seemed to naturally flow into like a spit had always just been waiting for them to arrive. Ppl who who were easy to get on w/from the get go. While others were more awkward and tentative and slow going .You got there eventually but it took a while .The couple doesn’t have to have insta love or passion etc.But the chemistry wasn’t there like it usually is.Or maybe it was me.Can’t be sure. This was was just ok for me.A solid read but definitely NOT a fave.Honestly, I loved the glimpse into the next book in the series more.I can not wait to read about Eliana and Daegon. I feel like their going to be an amazing couple.Of course I’d recommend this book, but I don’t see myself reading it again ,unless I need to find out a name ir a fact or something along those lines.
