My Big Fat Fake Wedding
Now a Washington Post and Amazon Charts Bestseller. #1 in the Kindle Store. He needs a wife. I need a husband. It’s just temporary… what could go wrong? I’ve always wanted the fairy tale wedding. Not for the princess perfect dress or big party, but for Papa. My grandfather. The only father figure I’ve ever known. It’s his dying wish to walk me down the aisle. Gee, no pressure. But I can grant that wish... I just have to fake being head over heels in love with Ross Andrews, my best friend's big brother whom I embarrassingly crushed on all through high school. Handsome. Knockout sexy. Arrogant jerk extraordinaire. Our childish pranks and tit-for-tat battles were legendary. Then I grew up. Not that he ever noticed. I know it’s a terrible idea, and we’re both in over our heads. It could be the wedding of a lifetime or a total disaster. How do we make it to the altar without killing each other first? Or without falling in love for real? My Big Fat Fake Wedding is a full-length romance with a HEA and no cliffhanger.

Sigh. It was going so wellI liked this until the 70% mark when Colin did his thing, after which it devolved into chaos. I wasnt impressed with the plot twist, or the manner in which Violet and Ross handled it. Sigh. Well, it's a big stretch to even begin to get near reality in my opinion. Way over the top -- even ridiculous at times. But funny at times, too. More of a three-ring circus atmosphere. Didn't really fit the whole scenario. I really felt nothing for the characters. The sex was hot -- but nothing deep and meaningful and a total recycle at every encounter. In fact, I pushed my way through -- even skimming at times (and I hate the idea of skimming). Not one I'd ever recommend or re-read. But at the end of the day love conquers all.The writing is perfectly fine. It flowed pretty fast, there were a few hang ups but nothing that ruins the story at all! The characters are too funny and I loved watching them come together. I didn't like the fart stuff because that's just nasty but thankfully it's only a wee bit of the book. Really a tiny spot but it's still gross and I didn't like it. Other than that this was a good romance book that had me laughing out loud for most of it.

Disappointing - way too ridiculous and OTT. Couldve been a lot better if the author just toned down the craziness as it had the bones of a good romance. Light, funny and a little over the top, My Big, Fat, Fake Wedding is 100% rom com goodness. Our couple have bickered and pranked each other for years, so the banter is great and there is a definite light feel to the whole book. The story follows Violet, a woman with a large Italian family. She loves her Papa, and his health has been declining recently. He’s always said how much he looks forward to giving her away at her wedding, and she wants to make that dream come true for him. Initially, Violet goes about the process the right way, reconnecting with an old flame and getting engaged. But when that falls through, she is left scrambling with two weeks before her wedding date - and no groom. Enter Ross, her best friend’s older brother. They’ve been frenemies of sorts for years, bickering and pranking each other but also connected by family. Ross is in need of a steady plus one to make himself look more respectful to the board of directors at the family business, and while getting married is above and beyond what he had planned, he sees Violet as the right person to move forward with. As the wedding approaches, they tell everyone what a whirlwind romance they’ve had, and it all starts to ring true. The writing here is great, making me laugh repeatedly and root for this couple. I will admit that I was a little slow to warm up to the story because it felt over the top - Violet is literally swapping out the groom at her wedding with two weeks on the countdown. For that reason, I wasn’t sure that I liked her at first, but she definitely won me over before the end. I had absolutely no complaints about Ross from the start; he is a great guy who may have been blind to his feelings for Violet, but he makes up for lost time in a big way. If you’re looking for a funny and steamy rom com, this is certainly a good option. It’s lighter than any book I’ve read by Landish before, and easy to get lost in.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

My Big Fat Fake Wedding was a fantastic story, but I have to say I wasn't sure about it to start with. Still, I soon changed my mind, and found it to be an utterly absorbing and entertaining read. And I loved the enemies to lovers/fake engagement trope this story delivers. As the title might suggest, this book is fun, flirty and fantastic! There is plenty of sweetness, humor and emotion as Violet sets out (with the best of intensions) to make sure one of her grandfather's biggest wishes gets granted. I liked Violet a lot. She seemed real and relatable. I could so easily picture myself in her place and I think most readers will to. The things we will do to try to make those we love happy are sometimes crazy but they usually come straight from the heart. I found As the title might suggest, this book is fun, flirty and fantastic! Loved It This was one of those books, I couldnt put down to do the basics like eating and sleeping. The dual point of view presentation had me ping ponging between Violet and Ross and enjoying every step of the way. Violets family (both by blood and friendship) were so engaging. Special nod to Nana and Papa whose fierce love was a joy to read. Abigail and Courtney were such wonderful younger sisters. For once, we see both families as truly loving and wanting the best for the protagonists. It was Loved It This was one of those books, I couldn’t put down to do the basics like eating and sleeping. It was decent until the reception twist with Colin. The plot was just poorly executed. 1. The idea of her jumping from one fiancée to the next in such a short timeframe and her super traditional Italian family somehow accepting it just wasnt plausible. 2. Even if it wasnt fake, the fact that Violet literally just replaced Colin with Ross but kept the same wedding date and the same plans would be suspicious.3. Ross has a pretty crappy family. The idea of her jumping from one fiancée to the next in such a short timeframe and her super traditional Italian family somehow accepting it just wasn’t plausible. 2. Even if it wasn’t fake, the fact that Violet literally just replaced Colin with Ross but kept the same wedding date and the same plans would be suspicious.3. Ross has a pretty crappy family. His mother is a snobby pushover who did nothing to support or defend her son when his father was pretty much telling him he’s worthless and a mistake for 90% of the book. His father was just absolutely horrible. I can’t even begin to describe how nasty he was from the beginning to the end and all the shitty things he said to his son that no father should ever say. The writer tried to redeem him in the end and paint him as a concerned dad who just wanted to push his son to grow up but at that point it wasn’t believable. Abi was a decent sister (I guess when you compare her to Courtney) but she was more of a best friend to Violet than a supportive sister to Ross. Courtney was probably the the worst and most annoying sister I’ve ever had the displeasure of reading about. Her character was just unnecessarily rude, inappropriately nosey and did nothing for the story except pile more shit on top of what Ross was getting from his dad. The not so subtle hints of tension between her and Ross’s best friend/assistant lead me to believe she’s got her own book coming. 4. The “twist” at the reception was 100% predictable, unnecessary and unrealistic. I could tell when the reception scene kept dragging on that something was going to ruin it. Colin left too quietly and Abi and Violet literally spoke about the wedding scheme in full detail SECONDS after Colin “left”. Neither one was near the door to make sure he didn’t come back. No one saw him at the reception to stop him? He somehow walked into the reception hall for a high profile wedding with no invitation and walked past everyone to get on stage and had not only enough time to make a speech, but to also play a recording of them talking about the scheme... really? No security? The mysterious Wedding planner? DJ couldn’t cut the mic? The main saving grace of the book was Violet’s family. They were more than a little dramatic and overly harsh when the truth came out but you can feel genuine love between them all unlike Ross’s family. Wish I hadn’t wasted the time on this one.

If you want an awesome book with a lot of laughs, you really need to read this one to fall in love with Violet and Ross.

He may have harbored a slight crush on her as demonstrated by the insane amount he picked on her. He is set to take over the family business but forgets just how under the microscope he is with the investors. When a tabloid story breaks, threatening his reputation, he knows he needs to step it up and settle down.Violet and Ross each have a situation that lends themselves to each other. Can they make a fake relationship and wedding into a future that they both can see? Will the events of the past be too much to overcome in their attempt to move forward?I can only give 3 ½ stars for this latest release from the author. I just wasn’t drawn in to the overall storyline and characters. Violet seemed to repeat herself way too much and Ross felt overly stuck in the past often. I usually like to see some type of growth in characters and I didn’t feel like each experienced that enough for my liking. The storyline had great potential but again, from the author, I felt like there were too many words in the book. Some pages of filler could have been removed in my opinion. I voluntarily read and reviewed an uncorrected copy without expectations. All opinions expressed are my own.

Scorching hot enemies-to-lovers fake engagement romance!I gotta say, I loved everything about this book right up until the "big secret" was revealed. We have a wonderfully deep story with well-thought out characters whose interlinked history is explored for maximum emotional impact. The gradual changes in both Ross and Violet were believable, hot, and heartwarming. The extended family interactions were such a joy to read. The gradual changes in both Ross and Violet were believable, hot, and heartwarming. The extended family interactions were such a joy to read. The format - alternating POV set against a countdown clock - was brilliantly done, and kept the sense of urgency in the forefront of the reader's mind.Just when you think the HEA is just around the corner, the big reveal is dropped like a bomb that set fire to the entire story, and it was close to being Just Too Much. Of course the characters had to face the harsh truths that led them to that point, but there was just so much drama and heartbreak all at once that it made it very difficult to read on to the It's-About-Time HEA.The first 80% is a glorious five-star read, and I almost wish it could have ended there. But as Ross says at one point, "‘Embrace the crazy’ is going to be our new motto." And this book certainly accomplishes that. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
