And she’s hooked. She continues solving crimes with no one the wiser and does so for years until one single mistake gets her caught. And what does she do to get out of the bind she finds herself in? She tells the ludicrous, inconceivable truth.…meets a man who believes her.Special Agent Sebastian Strand is almost desperate enough to believe the girl’s claim that she can see through the veil of time. Almost. But when he tests the defiant redhead and discovers her gift seems as real as the resentment she wears like a bulletproof vest, he asks for her help to stop a terrorist. Now, the only element Andrea’s been able to control her whole life is the only thing she needs more of as she races against time with an FBI agent hell-bent on saving the world. But will she be too late to save the embittered man’s life? Or will she lose her own life, not to mention her heart, before time runs out?

Delightful! I first read this story a few years ago as part of a collection called Twelve Shades of Midnight. In my review, at that time, I wished that Darynda would write more about these characters. Unfortunately, this is the same story not a new one but it was just as fun reading it this time as it was the first time. The characters are engaging, the story exciting and the action is non-stop. I still hope that the future contains more stories about these characters but as long as Darynda is Delightful! A Lovely Drop The NeverNeath, Book 2 I Picked Up This Book Because: Fan of the author The Characters: Andrea Grace: Special Agent Sebastian Strand: The Story: Andrea Grace has very special skills that she has been warned not to use to help humans. Her anonymous help is noticed by Agent Strand and Andrea is forced to help Agent Strand solve the murder of his partner and a whole town. There is instant attraction but it’s not acted on, in fact they both fight against it. I like how Andrea grows in her confidence and powers as the story progresses. I do hope we get to see more of them in the future. The Random Thoughts: The Score Card: 4 Stars

A Time Rewinder & A Special Agent Join Forces!!😲💥🔥⌚💫A Lovely Drop: A Story of the NeverneathI loved this quirky & intriguing crime story with a huge twist!🌟 We first meet Andrea being transported in the back of a Police Van, she's got a good over her head & is cuffed!!😳 Once they stop she's taken outside to what is obviously a crime scene, it's swarming with Officers, Plain Cloths too. She's escorted into a kitchen that's covered in blood & blood splatter and told it was a murder suicide. A Special Agent Sebastian Strand, from Homeland Security, comes in & tells her what they want from her, or else!!😡😭😲 He's stunningly hot with a deep sexy voice but his words sends ice through her veins!💔💥Andrea has a gift that is passed through the female line in her family, it has been for generations. Her late Mum warned her never to tell anyone & never to help anyone with it either, they're too easily exploited!!😱 She can rewind & move through a time period of up to 24 hours from when she arrives at any location, she calls it 'Dropping'. A few months after losing her Mum she had become very lost & despondent. Then whilst on a milk run at her local shop she passes a crime scene & decides to 'Drop' to find out what all of the sirens were about the night before. She's horrified to witness a man assault & murder a woman!😱😭 When she's home & recovered her equilibrium a bit she decides to put all of her art training to work & draws the man she saw commit the awful crime, she then anonymously drops the picture off for the Chief of Police stating that it's the murderer. He's subsequently caught!🙏 She feels a glimmer of life & hope seep back into her life so continues to this for a number of years!👍 Then she's arrested!!😲😭This was an exciting story which had a wonderful pace. The two main characters had real chemistry.🔥😍 Andrea is funny & quirky, Sebastian is a force to be reckoned with but he also cares a great deal. They seem to initially bond over their shared emotional responses!!🙏 I'm really hoping this short story will lead into a series as I can see myself becoming addicted to it!🌟Debbie, 1970, UK

Darynda Jones hasnt written a book that I didnt love. Shes brilliant. A Lovely Drop May be a free short story but it can easily become a wonderful series. A test that led to her solving the horrific murder of everyone in a small town and saving the life of someone she came to care deeply about. It was short, but so damned well written that I was depressed at the end. I wanted it to go on. I want to know where the story goes after this one ends. I felt the same about the first Neverneath story, Monster. Ms. Jones is one of my favorite authors and will forever be on my pre-order list.

It wets your appetite just enough to look forward to 7th April. My question is, book 1 of Neverneath is not related to book 2 and while I enjoyed booked 2, I want more of Andrea+Sebastian, so will we have more from each book's characters in other stories or is this just a series of urban fantasy novellas?

Nice new seriesI like the premise of this story. Andrea is from a family of women who can go to a place and see what has happened in the preceding 24 hours. It hasnt always worked out well for them though. Andrea has anonymously been helping law enforcement solve crimes for a while trying to remain under the radar. The authorities discover her identity and decided to use her to solve some crimes. Its a double edged sword; she is useful but also could be considered a threat to national security. This is the first book I've read by Darynda Jones and I loved it. My only regret is that it was too short. The story grabbed me at the first paragraph and did not let go through the end. A short paranormal novella about a woman named Andrea who has the ability to "drop". In any crime scene she can "drop" and turn back time to witness the scene. Basically a short story (or novella, if you prefer) about Andrea, a woman with the ability to "drop" back to view events that have happened in the last 24 hours. She's been helping Chicago police solve crimes by sending them details of crimes anonymously. However, one night they caught a glimpse of her when her hoodie blew back and now the Department of Homeland Security is asking for help to prevent a terrorist attack. An interesting little story. I thought it was going to be the whole guns and bombs, international espionage, double agent, spy, terrorist suspense thing, which it was for a little while, but the case wrapped up before the suspense could get overly suspenseful. Just about the time I was thinking "Eh, I'm not sure I'm really up for this" I realized that the book was nearly done and the case was pretty well wrapped up. And then there's the happy ending. The premise was interesting, as was the crime-solving. The hero and heroine didn't really interest me very much--they didn't feel fully fleshed out and were just catalysts making the plot happen. Note also that this novella ended at 75% and the remaining 25% that I expected more story from was an excerpt from another book. They really should put these excerpts at the start instead, because it just feels bad this way.

A short but complete story. The premise is interesting: Andrea can drop back in time twenty-four hours and she uses her skill to help the police solve crimes. It makes matters better when the agent in question is really hot. The big crime is solved fairly easily, but there are enough other twists to keep things interesting. And it ends in a good place that gives hope that there will be more books about these two. I'd definitely read them.

I really enjoyed this story, and Id love to read more. It was a little too adventure-filled for my usual taste, with less of the fun humour (as seen in the Charley Davidson series, and A Bad Day for Sunshine) I tend to expect from Darynda Jones. However, still a compelling story and excellently written. I really enjoyed this story, and I’d love to read more. Time travelUnique. However, this felt more like an expanded short story than an actual novel.I felt that the characters background was quickly summed up, in Sebastians case, and somewhat more explained with Andreas.
