The Good, the Bad, and the Cyborg (Cyborgs on Mars #1)
A desperate widow in need of a helping hand… even a cybernetic one. Hattie came to Mars with high hopes. Hopes that she and her husband would be able to claim a plot of land, to create a home, perhaps even to start a family - all of the things that were now impossible on a troubled Earth. Instead, she’s lost everything, everything except the land, and in order to keep her homestead she needs help. When help arrives in the form of a tall, gruff cyborg ranger, she is torn between her loyalty to the past and the promise of a new future. But when danger threatens, is she going to lose even that? M-231 can barely remember the time before - before he became a cyborg, before he shut off his emotions, before he became both more and less than human. Until a stubborn, beautiful female - one who is no longer off limits - makes him remember what it is to feel. Can Hattie and her cyborg overcome harsh conditions, troubled pasts, and a mysterious enemy to create a new future together? Each book in the Cyborgs on Mars series can be read as a standalone romance. This sweet and steamy romance is intended for mature readers.

Enjoyed the world-building of how Mars might be terra-formed. It felt very realistic. Good story and characters, too! Great cyborgs in this story.

Hattie came to Mars with the hope of starting a new life. Instead, everything seems to be falling apart and she might lose her home too if she can’t find someone else to help her. M-231, also known as Morgan, has been entranced with Hattie since she arrived on Mars but has never made a move or talked to her. When he finds out she needs a partner to keep her land he offers to help. Together these two must overcome their pasts, the environment, and a dangerous enemy. This was a nice quick read. I liked the concept of this new settlement on Mars with Cyborgs police and homesteaders. Hattie was smart and resourceful. She built and slaved over her land and it shows. Morgan was closed off at first but quickly opened up when he realized Hattie truly cared. She didn’t care that he was a cyborg and saw him as a man. They had an instant love relationship but I still enjoyed it. I am interested to see where this series goes and how they deal with GenCon in the future. Also I want to see more of these cyborgs and learn their backstories, especially Judge. Every one of Honey's books that I have read has been great and this one is no exception. I loved the tough, strong, enduring Hattie and then protective and passionate Morgan. They were able to heal their past wounds and move forward together, overcoming Mars' harsh landscape and sneaky Gencom. I can't wait for the next one to see what unfolds

I think the book could have done with less sex and more follow through on the mystery, which wasn't concluded to my satisfaction. Morgan had his own issues and for such a short book he spent more time than necessary going through the 'I'm not worthy routine'. A portion of the book was one sex scene rolling into the next and I tend to lose interest with that so I just skimmed quickly over the extraneous sex scenes. I'll certainly read the next book in the series and hope the hanging questions about the nefarious plans of the evil company will be answered. IMO, if you enjoy cyborg sci-fi this is a series worth looking at.

This series is only two books in--one prequel and the first book--but I can't wait for the next. It sounds like a wacky mix, kind of like putting spaghetti on your scrambled eggs, but the mix of cowboys and cyborgs is BAD ASS!! *WARNING* story contains explicit sexual contentThis isn't what I expected when I read "on Mars", but I can't say I was disappointed either. Hattie is one of those "glass half full" type characters and that is usually annoying, but her character struggles, it makes her character more realistic. My curiosity is burning to hear what the story is on the Judge, but Morgan's story was just sad. I found the whole story interesting. The characters are great with completely different personalities.
