Provoke (Seaside Pictures, #3.7)
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken comes a new story in her Seaside Pictures series…The music industry called me a savant at age sixteen when I uploaded my first video and gained instant fame. And then Drew Amherst of Adrenaline became my mentor, and my career took off. Everything was great.Until tragedy struck, and I wondered if I’d ever be able to perform again. I fought back, but all it took was a falling light to bring it all back to the fore. So, I walked away. Because I knew it wasn’t just stage fright. It was so much more. The only problem? Drew and the guys are counting on me. If I can’t combat the crippling anxiety threatening to kill me, I might lose more than I ever dreamed of. Enter Piper Rayne, life coach, with her bullshit about empowerment, rainbows, and butterflies. She smiles all the damn time, and I'm ninety-nine percent sure there’s not a problem she can’t solve.Until me. She was given twenty-one days to fix me. To make me see what’s important. What’s real. The problem is, all I can see now is her. The sexy woman who pushes me. Provokes me. Only time will tell if she’s able to do her job—and I can make her mine.**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

With Provoke, Rachel Van Dyken adds a poignant and sexy story about the healing power of love to her Seaside Pictures series. Being a music genius put Branden in the spotlight at the ripe age of sixteen. He’s not only music smart, he’s also life savvy and waits until the perfect opportunity shows up at his doorstep to launch his career and fulfil his dreams until a horrendous incident occurred and now the anxiety and stage fright that has plagued him since is putting his band’s upcoming tour at risk. His bandmates have a solution in the form of the very successful and professional Piper Rayne, life coach who has invaded his peaceful Seaside space with glitter and vision boards. She has three weeks to get him ready for the tour. Can she accomplish what no one else has been able to so far while Branden pushes back and temps her at every turn?Rachel Van Dyken packs a big emotional punch in this novella which I read in a single sitting because I was hooked by Branden’s charisma right from the start, captivated by his story, and engrossed with the incredible banter between him and Piper which caused all the feels including smiles and laughs. I loved all the parts where the band was meddling in Branden and Piper’s lives just as much as all the incredibly flirty and sexy parts, because oh boy could Branden flirt! I fell for the sexy redhead from the get-go and loved every minute of his journey towards success and healing.Provoke is novella #3.7 of the Seaside Pictures series by Rachel Van Dyken. It’s a standalone romance, told from both points of view with a happy ending.* I was given an ARC of this book courtesy of the author via InkSlinger. The excerpts are from that copy. This is the first time I am reading and reviewing Rachel van Dyken and I just came to know what an amazing author she is. The way she puts the words in her book is just really good. He uploaded his first song on youtube when he was sixteen and he becomes the sensational artist of the music industry. Drew Armhest is the one person who not only shapes him as the artist but also becomes his best friend and they form the band.Everything was going good but then a tragedy happens and then he became that person which he never was. Stage fright becomes one of his friends. He was not able to perform in front of people and this was not the end of problems a tour was coming in their way in which the band has to perform there is no other option.Though every problem has a solution and this time Piper Rayne is the solution but the thing is she only has twenty-one days for that. This is not the challenge for Piper but for Branden as well, As he has to see that girl every day who can't stop smiling and this irritates him a lot. Will Piper be able to make things work for Branden or will Branden be able to perform or not? This is one of the best Novella I read and completely fall in love with the storyline. The Sense of humor in this book is just the next level. There were soo many laughing moments (like literally laughing). The side characters in this book were just something else (which was the band of Branden) like their friendship was Amazing, they were with him for good or for bad. This book is giving goals. Moreover, the connection between Piper and Branden was Sizzling hot. JUST LOVED IT. They are literally giving us #couplegoals ;-)ARC was generously provided for an honest review.

Rating~3.75 starsI really enjoy Rachel Van Dyken's seaside series, I don't know something about the celebrity cast of characters, the atmosphere and the writing really works for me! So this wasn't any different.Branden, at the young age of sixteen known for his youtube music videos gets signed on and his career takes off. Apart from dad leaving, his life and career had generally been pretty good. He loves his family, they are nice and shocker he gets along really well with his mother. All of Rating~3.75 starsI really enjoy Rachel Van Dyken's seaside series, I don't know something about the celebrity cast of characters, the atmosphere and the writing really works for me! Apart from dad leaving, his life and career had generally been pretty good. He loves his family, they are nice and shocker he gets along really well with his mother. All of this changed when an awful incident occurred at his concert. Unable to perform, deal with the guilt and the anxiety that came with the incident.Piper Rayne, is a life coach hired by his company to help him out and get him on the road with AD2 for the tour. Piper has never been as attracted to anyone as she is to Branden which complicates her neat and orderly world.Rachel Van Dyken did a good job showing us their developing connection, sweet mixed with sexy stuff. It isn't easy to make the reader invested and interested in the characters and their relationship but its done well here. I also liked the mix of humour and the Zane+Drewness that comes from them being them along with little bits of friends and family mixed in with more serious and slightly angsty bits of the books. I think part of what really worked with Provoke; apart from the writing, the pacing, are the characters. They are just so easy to connect with and love. I also really liked Piper and Branden together, they were really great together! Cute, sweet and teasing. Quibbles: As generally with 1001 books, I wish the novella was longer and we had gotten more time to spend with the couple. Even then I think it would been nicer if the time limit with what Branden had to get ready for the tour was longer, it would have allowed for more believing the couple falling in love and getting to know each other but also the fact that Branden's trauma related to event got solved quickly. Trauma doesn't just go away that easily, especially cause it was stated he was already on therapy but this is fiction and I'm in a more forgiving mood I'll be letting it slide.Overall, a great shot read for springtime with all the elements to keep a reader captivated till the end. Also loved the little epilogue!! p.s Since 1001 dark nights are all about standalone from series that readers love, its a great one to dive into if you haven't read other seaside books or haven’t tired Rachel Van Dyken's books.BLOG TOUR ARC was generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Provoke is part of the Seaside Pictures series by Rachel Van Dyken but is a true standalone novella in the 1001 Dark Nights world. Now, Rachel ranks just under Nora Roberts on my most favorite author list (Noras #1 in case you didnt figure that out), so of course, I recommend all of the Seaside Pictures books if youre up for a full series binge. Actually, if you’re not an essential worker and have more time on your hands than you ever wanted right now, Seaside and Seaside Pictures are romantic, yet hilarious, and will brighten these crazy days of quarantine, shelter-in-place, and social isolation. But about Provoke…. Braden is a musical savant whose career was at its height when tragedy struck. Convinced he’s recovered, he resumed performing on stage only to have a freak accident make him realize that emotionally, he’s far from recovered. In comes Piper. Life coach extraordinaire. She has three weeks to get him stage-ready. With chemistry that’s truly explosive, will they both survive? NICUnurse’s Rating: The plot of Provoke really hit home with me because even though at the time the Vegas mass shooting happened, I no longer lived there, that town was home for me for many years, and so many of my close friends–those that are more like family–still live there. So, I connected to the story in a pretty emotionally deep way. But funny how life works sometimes. The message in the story–using brokenness to help others heal along with us, moving forward after tragedy as survivors and not victims and despite very real fear–is just as timely in our world today. And when I read these words, I couldn’t stop the tears: “Maybe there was no explanation for why bad things happened. But thank God we had good people on this planet to help us get through it. Those who loved us through our pain and told us it was okay to be scared.”See what I mean? Totally rings true in our world right now. Whew! Even with all the heavy, Provoke brought me to tears of laughter with the witty banter that we all love about Rachel Van Dyken’s books. And the texting! Wouldn’t be the same without the group texts! Yeah…plenty of LOL moments to help get you through the heavy. Needless to say, Rachel packed a huge amount of emotion, along with plenty of fun, into one short novella. I doubt by now that you’re surprised that:I give Provoke by Rachel Van Dyken 5 out of 5 stars!

The two main characters are completely new to the Seaside series. However don't despair if you are fan of the other books. All the secondary characters are our beloved favorites. Even with some classic group text situations. This was a shorter novella for the series, but the heart and heat were still there. It could be read as a stand alone if you are new to the series, but you do get more out of it if you had read the other ones.

This book literally ripped me apart... in a good way. But so heartbreakingly too. Braden is a rock god. Taken under wing at the age of nineteen by famous rockstar Drew Amherst of Adrenaline. From there, his career took off. He had it all - until tragedy struck. He tried fighting back and getting back on stage but a falling light was all it took for him to fall back completely. After being told that if he doesn't go on tour he could be in breach of contract, his anxiety threatens to kill him. So This book literally ripped me apart... in a good way. For your friend's to hire a Life Coach to stay and work with you until the day before tour starts. Piper is not the sort to take your bullshit with ease. She's good at what she does and she takes it seriously. But that was all before she met Braden. Suddenly, making him see what was real and what was important became all too real because he became what was real and important to her as well. He was more than another client. He became her everything. Can she fix him? Can she heal him? Will it work?Seriously..... this book had me in tears. The struggles that Braden had to go through in this book was absolutely heart wrenching! It's been a while since I cried during a book - actually... I think the last book I cried through was another book by Rachel. (Thanks for that! lol) Rachel writes some amazing stories that can hit so close to home for people that it's hard not to read it like it were a true story because for some - these stories could be more truth than anything. The depression people go through is not something to take lightly and the power of love is truly something unreal. Braden and Piper's story is wonderful. It's sad. It's loving. It's unbelievable and it's incredible. This story is definitely one that I think everyone should read. It doesn't matter if you've never read a single Seaside book yet or if you read them all. You need to read Provoke because you won't be whole until you do. I always think Rachel can never top her previous books i've read but this one is by far my favourite so far for so many reasons.

Provoke is a Seaside Pictures novella by Rachel Van Dyken. It can be read as standalone! I am behind on the series but that was totally fine since these are two new characters. You do not need to read any of the other books but you will want to after you finish reading Braden and Pipers story. Tragedy struck one year ago. Then entered Piper Rayne, Life Coach. He didn’t want her there but it was her or nothing. He couldn’t lose his music career. It was all he felt he had left. Piper had three weeks. Twenty-one days to get Braden back on stage. He definitely wasn’t what she expected out of a twenty-four year old rock god. He was more. Now, if only he would listen to her instead of making fun of her pantsuits. She was determined to show him that he could do anything. Even if that meant letting go. Awe!!! I loved it. I have read a few books from the series and I think Braden might be my favorite band member. He is more than just a sexy rock star with abs for days. He is beautifully complicated. A shameless flirt. A man after my own heart. And truly, he has a heart of gold. And Piper, love her. She is smart, determined, beautiful, and funny. Together, their banter is epic. Their connection is true. I just loved everything about their story. It’s not an easy one but an important one. Quotes: “I’m not making a friggin’ vision board.” “Stop being difficult.” She rolled her eyes. “Plus, if you’re a good boy, I’ll even let you use glitter.”“That’s beautiful.” “You’re beautiful.” He winked. I just rolled my eyes. “Flirting with your coach gets you an F.” He cackled out a dark laugh. “Are you saying you want to F me?”It was like writing the perfect song, the way her body played for me.

My heart broke for Braden and cheered for Piper as she slowly helped him fight his anxieties and breathed life back into him! This book was a roller coaster ride of emotions and Rachel had me hanging on as the story flew around each curve revealing unexpected twists and turns! It's clear from the outset that both Braden and Piper are attracted to the other, but there is reason to keep things professional. The question is, is that possible?! I really enjoyed these two characters and the story as a whole. They were good people who both had been through different things in life and their connection was genuine. It was a story about friendship, forgiveness and moving on even when it's difficult. I laughed out loud at times and it was also great to see some familiar faces as well.Kudos to RVD for another fantastic book!

Putting it together perfectlyEach time Rachel releases another Seaside Pictures Novella it is such a great pleasure and fun to re-visit this lovely town with all its celebrities.Provoke proves that once again. The story of Braden, who after a horrible incident is feeling broken and is losing his track in life, and Piper, his supposed to be life coach, who in the end figures out not to be just his coach but simply his life, is a beautiful story of love, friendship and overcoming your own fears and Putting it together perfectlyEach time Rachel releases another Seaside Pictures Novella it is such a great pleasure and fun to re-visit this lovely town with all its celebrities.Provoke proves that once again. The story of Braden, who after a horrible incident is feeling broken and is losing his track in life, and Piper, his supposed to be life coach, who in the end figures out not to be just his coach but simply his life, is a beautiful story of love, friendship and overcoming your own fears and get strength out of it.Both characters will just get to you immediately as they seem so very approachable and comparable to ones own fears as well as own behaviors. As already several others of RVDs stories this one as well deals in the background with some heavy and difficult topics but she steers through them with care and sensitivity for everyone who might have first hand experiences with this.Last but not least you get all those incredible, lovable, somehow insane in a cute way characters fans of Seaside and Seaside Pictures already love for years. And yes (spoiler alert!!!!) there are text conversations which are just THE BEST and you don’t want to miss!!!Definitely another must read. 5 Stars!!

Tragically beautiful and heart destroying! All the emotions in these short pages! Sadly this is a story that is very relevant in todays world, but absolutely beautifully written. She knows how to push his buttons and provoke emotions in him. Her goal is to get him ready to take the stage again and push past his fears. His goal, to make her his. As usual RVDs writing has me in love. She always creates these characters that are diverse, heart wrenching, and hysterical. The banter between the characters is entertaining as hell and always leaves me crying laughing. Braden’s story is definitely an instant favorite. He had me laughing, swooning, and crying at multiple points throughout the story. This one was truly heartbreakingly beautiful!

Provoke is a Seaside Pictures novella that can be read as a standalone, but if you have read the other books you will see some of you favorites! This story is emotional, sexy and a fun. Braden needs help to overcome his fears and Piper is just the woman to help him. She's a life coach and this is what she does. She needs to get Braden to understand what he's afraid of, show him what to do to get past it and move on. She didn't expect to fall for him. Will Piper decide to stay? I loved this story! It was short, but it's full of heart and heat! Braden and his sexiness and red hair made me swoon!"Hey, eyes up here. I'm a person, not a piece of meat!"

Provoke by Rachel Van Dyken (Seaside Pictures, #3.7). It is a contemporary romance that can be read as stand alone. Braden Connor is a rock star who is trying to overcome a tragedy. In order to help him, his friends enlist the aid of life coach Piper Rayne. Its been awhile since Ive read the Seaside Series but this novella is set up to jump into the story without getting tangled in the details of the characters. (which I recommend but is not necessary for this novella). Healing of the heart and mind through love and friendship. That’s what it’s all about my friends.

OMG!!! I loved this novella even though I have not read the others I thought this was such a wonderful read. The sense of humor between the band mates, the family bonding and what you go through we are all affected in some way. Bradens life was was going good until someone misinterpreted his music. Now he lives in fear because of what this person has done to him and the people who were caught in the crossfire. Piper comes in to save the day well thats what she is hoping for! This is one of my top rock stars series and I am definitely a sucker for rock star romances. This is a stand alone novella in the Seaside Pictures series and it can definitely be read on it's own, but I would highly recommend reading the rest. This story is absolutely beautiful. It is emotional. It has left me completely hungover and lost in my emotions. It is also fun with witty banter and characters that you can't help but love.
