Shutout (Bases #4)
I’ve survived it before, the loss of Colson Hayes. Experienced that tingling feeling of hope off my fingertips, one that begged me to hold on for dear life, only for it to melt away. Some people get a second chance but it was the second slap to the face by a vengeful past that always seems to sweep in and destroys us.I can’t compete with this one. Nor can I fend off the loss that swallows me whole. He learns my truth, the very one that was supposed to set us free from the decade-old angst we had for each other. But then I learned his. And with that new little piece of reality, karma dealt us a hand that once again triggered the act of our demise. One I wasn't ready to play.Interference: Bases Series Book #1Strike: Bases Series Book #2Double Play: Bases Series #3

Don't worry, I think I got it.We left Double Play feeling that familiar somber ache that we've got accustomed to in the complicated world of Hayes and Bases. And we're jumping right back into it.Staying true to their essence, the push and pull continues and every. Damn. Thing keeps getting in the way.I swear, the world is out to get them and just won't give them a break. I truly don't think I've ever read a couple with more trials, tribulations and shitt* timing than these two. Jesus Christ, my poor heart can't handle all these twists and turns.Sawyer is once again faced with the possibility that everything good she has been experiencing was nothing but a terribly vivid dream that is turning into the old, recurring nightmare: Hayes messing up. Royally. Again. Our saving grace is knowing that Colson is it for the long run and won't let anything stand in the way of what he wants. We've known him long enough to know what that means. Come hell or high water, he won't stop until he gets the girl. His girl. Forever. It's about time to get this over with. No more waiting. No more wasting away precious seconds. It's heartbreaking and heart-melting all at the same time to truly see all the sides of Colson Hayes. Reading all about their relationship in high school and how everything ended, and then his life afterwards, was painful and beautiful. I didn't think I could love him anymore but Hazel Grace accomplished the impossible and provoked all the feelings while showing us a different, more vulnerable side of the boy with I-don't-give-a-f*ck attitude. Sawyer did some soul searching and healing of her own and with that - plus, a push from cruel life itself - she decided that nothing would ever again come between the two. And because we also know intrepid Bases all too well, let's just say she's not backing out. No chance. I don't think it is a spoiler to say that there is a happily-ever-after here. After all, after 4 books you had to know it was coming. It was inevitable. Hell, I've been craving it since book 1. But I wouldn't change a thing about this adventure I embarked on, because all the things they went through, good and bad, made them who they are in the end. Finally together. Unseparable. Stronger. Happy.Colson and Sawyer will forever be one of my favorite couple, for all of those reasons; not just because of how they were with eachother - the banter, the steamy times and their overall personalities - but also what they had to go through to finally be in eachother's arms.Hearts broke and were mended so many times, and they kept beating. Barely.I'm super excited to see what comes next from Hazel Grace. I think I said it before but I'll say it again: for her flawed characters with twisted morals, gut wrenching words and beautiful stories, there's always gonna be a place in my heart and my TBR list. 😊Bye Bases. Bye Hayes. To craving someone like a bad high. ❤

Home Run I can’t believe this is the end for Colson and Sawyer. A heartfelt ending to an amazing series. This story is an angst lovers dream. I loved Alphahole Colson and fiesty Sawyer. This last book has them dealing with new and old issues that they need to overcome so they can find their HEA. The author seamlessly writes current and 10 years ago flashbacks as well as both POV 5 baseball angst stars!

That ending though!? Omg 😮 it was everything! This was such a great series. I do wish it could have been condensed into 1-2 books at minimum but otherwise, I loved Sawyer and Colson and their story. I also love seeing the guys POV and Colson was so in love with Sawyer but hated it at the same time. It was great to see all the emotions he expressed and his undying love for Sawyer!

Mind blown! Will come back for review later!Okay, so having gone on this journey from book #1 to #4, I can honestly say I was crushed when this series ended. I needed to compose myself. Hazel freaking destroyed me with Colson and Sawyer. I have been invested in this couple since the beginning. I devoured all 4 books in this series as soon as I could get my hands on them. I love Hazel and her words so much. These two broke my heart at times and healed it right back the next minute. I laughed, I cried, I freaked out, I yelled, but more than anything I LOVED and fell in love with Colson....hardcore. I started this series with a slow back and forth between Colson and Sawyer to where right when you thought you knew what was going to happen she changed the script on you. Hazel knocked this book out of the park! By far my favorite in this series and gave us such an incredible ending to this series. There were so many twists and turns I did not see coming that literally kept me from wanting to put this book down. I'm so elated and sad to be writing this review. I love, absolutely love Colson Hayes. He is mine 😂. And I while I absolutely love the book, I'm so sad this was the last one. Grace once again mad me swoon for bad boy Colson Hayes. He is such an alphahole, so wicked, so mean, so powerful. He is one of my favorite male characters. Colson Hayes was EVERYTHING! I love how each book goes back and forth from the past to present. I think it was great doing it that way so you don't just get a little tidbit of the history between the characters. You get a lot of the history which really helps to understand why they did the things they did. It was amazing to watch Sawyer grow into the strong woman she ended up and to watch Colson finally give in! The banter and the angst is amazing in this series! I am so sad to see it end. #team Colson Hayes was EVERYTHING! I love how each book goes back and forth from the past to present. Wow......Just WOW!!!Once again we get to visit with Colson and Sawyer. We FINALLY find out how much of a *ick Gavin REALLY is! Sawyer grows a pair and Colson finds a Heart! We realize that sometimes Love isn’t enough if both parties aren’t fully committed and healed. Overcoming past hurts is just as intense as the original situation. An epic conclusion to an epic series. Colson and Sawyer are one of those couples that just sticks with you. With the final installment of their story, you are swept away by how they are finally getting their act together, and then in true Hazel style, you are bombarded with one heartbreaking moment after another. However, with that being said, the ending of their story is beautiful, sweet, and everything that I hoped it would be, and I hated to see it end.

I’ve been anticipating this book for a while. This is the last book in the series and Hazel did not disappoint. I love colson and sawyer and here I was thinking there will be no more angst and it’ll be a smooth ride for these two. OMG was I wrong. It was full of angst, nail biting turns but it was one hell of ride and I love these characters.
