Shards of Frost (The Mercury Pack, #5)
When had life stopped being so simple? Probably around the time that Casey Frost first agreed to pay off her drug addict brother’s debt to save him from a brutal beating. It soon became a “thing.” When the dealer—who’s also an Alpha shifter—demands she do something that goes against her very being, Casey decides enough is enough. It’s while she’s confronting the Alpha that he appears—Eli Axton, a ruthless wolf shifter with a dark reputation. When their eyes lock and the mating urge violently kicks in, she knows her world is about to change. The last unmated male in his pack, Eli feels weary and alone. Seeing his friends so happy makes the Head Enforcer acutely feel the absence of his true mate. He wouldn’t have expected to find her in the parking lot of a shifter fight club, or for her to be such an unusual breed of shifter. Certain that the female enforcer belongs to him, he doesn’t hesitate to claim her. Not everyone is happy to see Casey mated, though. Soon danger is coming at them from different angles, threatening the life they’re trying to build. Their enemy needs to be eradicated fast. But how did you destroy an enemy when you weren’t sure who they were?

It's the final book in a series/spin-off series that I have ADORED and pimped out to everyone and anyone who would listen to me...but I can't help but think the fault is mine. I have been in one of the biggest book/life funks of my life and I feel like my not loving this can be attributed 100% to that fact. It took me THREE days to finish this when I usually polish off a Wright book in one sitting. I can't believe I am about to say this, but I think I need a break from the romance genre - I know, I seriously can't even believe I'm saying that even as I'm typing it...but the struggle is real. Luckily, I have six floor to ceiling bookcases over-filled with a gazillion unread fantasy, science fiction, and historical fiction books which I can peruse - and which I have been trying to get myself to tackle all year. Don't judge me. I blame my initial discovery of bookTube and Book Outlet. I actually told myself I wasn't allowed to buy any more physical books until I made some headway through some of stacks of books I already own...but I keep using my kindle as a veritable loophole. But I digress, enough about me. Please disregard my rating of this book as I feel like it's not a true reflection of my typical tastes, etc. I think once I've cleansed my palate, so to speak, and get back on the romance train, a re-read of this will see me giving it five stars. Until then... (edited to add: this "break" lasted for two non-romance books in two days and I am back on my romance train. Fear not).

Wonderful as always. I can't believe two of my favorite series by this author are now done :( Thankfully there will be another spin-off soon, and I can't wait to dive into that one. I am sure it will be awesome. Let's hope the wait won't be too long.Full review to come soon.... I am so happy that Eli finally found what his heart was looking for ;)

But I can say that I think they got the perfect ending and Eli really finished this series with a bang.Eli has always been a bit of a mystery in the previous books and we didn't get to learn too much about him, other than that he could be just as playful as Roni when they played pranks on each other. In his own story, however, we get to see all of his past hurts, the pain of having to watch his packmates find their true mates while he was alone, and how lonely he was feeling within the pack. Until he found Casey, that is. I loved how instantaneous his connection with Casey was once they found each other. Eli went full protector and I definitely enjoyed that posessiviness that came out from their mating. Casey was just as fun to read about and I honestly loved her strength. That's one of the things I love about these series', the heroine's are always so strong, physically and emotionally. Casey was no different, but she did bring an extra little psychotic feeling to her strength. Which is a good thing, I promise. And I admired how Eli, despite being so protective of her, would sit back and let Casey fight her own battles. It was a true partnership in their mating and I think they suited each other perfectly. Bottom line, if you haven't read this series yet you definitely need to do that ASAP. These shifters will have you falling in love with their world in no time.

3.5 rounded up to 4 stars - RTC“I’ve been wondering where you were.” And now he’d found her. His mate. The other half of his soul. “How far do you live from here?”She licked her lips. “Five minutes away.”“I’ll drive us there in my SUV. I can’t fuck you here, but there’s no damn way I’m not claiming you tonight.”

I'm kinda sad to say goodbye to the Mercury and Phoenix packs, I've loved the journey crammed full of hot and bossy alpha males and their strong, take no prisoners mates. Add to that the unexpected Wright brings with her shifters.... Margay cats, Pallas cats and now minks and yeah, I can't get enough of her books. There's no pushing away, no cheating, no drama for drama's sake, always great banter and hot sex. 4 Light StarsFinally, finally the story of Eli Anxon and his fated mate Casey Frost, didn’t sleep until this was finished. We’ve been hearing for a while that for some couples they know from the first eye to eye contact that they are fated mates, and here we finally get to see it, when Casey and Eli lock eyes properly that’s it. Finally, Eli, has what he has been yearning for, having watched his pack gain mates, has made him keenly aware of his loneliness and desire to find the one for him. But before the two can enjoy their lives as mates they need to deal with whomever doesn't want them together.Casey is one kickass enforcer, and one cool Mink shifter, I think she’s the perfect fit for Eli. I found the information on Mink shifters fascinating and I’m looking forward to more books involving them. I have to ask what is it with rubbish/bad parents in the books I keep picking up, (view spoiler)[Casey’s dad is a snivelling worm taking out his inferiority complex on his daughter. Treating her like she is a freak because she can shift, and denying the shifter blood her latent siblings also have. (hide spoiler)]Casey’s one-night stand (way before she and Eli meet) and the drama that manifested from that, for me was a little bit of an annoying strand of the story. Bracken’s certainty that Casey’s minx was trying to kill him was amusing (although whilst it made me smile each and every time, there was something more needed to make me seriously laugh, some pizazz in those scenes was missing).I'm still hoping that despite the information we get on Cain in this book and the trajectory his life takes, he will be getting his own book.Loved the epilogue, seeing all the kids and the pack.

"It didn’t matter that he hadn’t officially met her before today, he knew her on a level he couldn’t quite explain."What I love most about this series and the writing is that even though it's about the same shifter pack finding their mates, each story is different and unique. No two stories in this series are the same. And after reading about Eli in the Mercury Pack and Phoenix Pack books, I feel that this story line fits him so perfectly. It starts out strong and I loved it. Casey was such a strong heroine and you all know I love myself some strong BA heroines. She also fiercely loves and protects those she loves, even if that list is small. Even with as strong as she is there were some insecurities because of her life growing up but Eli knocked all those insecurities away one by one.“I’ll bet no one would believe me if I told them you could be sweet.”I love Eli even more now that he has his own book. All the shifters in the Mercury Pack are dominant but there was something about Eli that made him seem even more so. He was intense and confident and really the perfect match for Casey.“Scars are not flaws. They can be badges of honor. They can be marks of survival. They can be proof of a person’s craft. But never flaws. All these scars you have speak of your drive, skill, resilience, and fierceness.”I am sad that this is the end but it was an amazing series. The only thing that irked me was one of the soccer plays. I played soccer my whole life and in college and one of the plays would not have happened like that in real life. However...this isn't real life and I have absolutely no idea how shifters play soccer so it really wasn't a big deal to me. Also...that epilogue...I'm dying. We get to see a little Cassidy and Cain and it was so perfect. "I’m here now. I protect what belongs to me, I keep it safe—it’s my right. Don’t try to take that away from me."

I can't believe it's over. I'm a little bummed and feeling overly mushy about this book and this series and the other one as a whole. Yes it's full of tropes. Yes it's formulaic. But it's so fucking good I can't even admit to anything other but 5 stars.

SHARDS OF FROST, last book in the Mercury Pack Series and I'm not gonna lie, I didn't love it. I was very close to DNF'ing this book and if it wasn't for the second half I probably would have, but I am really glad that I didn't. What do they do? Claim each other ASAP. It felt off to me. We didn't even get the time to know Casey before they claim each other. Through all the other Phoenix/Mercury Pack stories, I just love the stages of the couple getting to know each other forming a bond before the mating process begins, waiting just a bit. This the first time Wright did this type of claiming, and I hope it's the last b/c I didn't like the claiming each other ASAP thing. Now after they claim each other, they do get to know each other and to be honest I didn't like them. I think I didn't really connect with Casey and it felt like there was nothing really special about her. She was just another strong dominant female they just through with Eli. And then the whole her being on a soccer team and her having a druggy brother, and an ex-friend who has it out for her was really too much like high school and juvenile for my tastes. Now the saving grace to SHARDS OF FROST is the background storyline and the side characters, which is great if you don't connect with the couple. There's always some asshole trying to destroy the pack, but I didn't really feel like he was a huge threat. I have to say though, the best part of this book was that we get Cain's POV! And I am gonna scream and rage if Wright doesn't give him his own book! I NEED to see how Cain & Cassidy's story plays out!

I should leave this as currently reading because technically I never finished. I just got bored, I enjoyed the previous books but I just couldn't get into this one. It started out good but quickly stalled for me. I didn't really see much of a conflict, I won't go into more details because then I would be giving away parts of the story. Maybe it gets better and I didn't give it enough of a chance, I might pick this up at a later date but for now I can't recommend.

I'm obsessed with this author's PNR writing. I've read every story (some more than once) and really love the emotions she puts behind her shifter characters and their love stories. This one had plenty of laughs to go with the action and heat and I couldn't read it fast enough. Looking forward to whatever comes next.

Cue super over dramatic reviewI WAS NOT READY FOR THIS!. Eli and Casey legit stole the soul right outta my body. Why the fuck does it have to end?. Seriously I could just quite happily read a 100 more stories and still not be bored. Suzanne is just that author for me. This is my favourite of this series absolutely and I know that this will become another Burn for me and that's my most re read book EVER out of any book I own which BTW I own Burn in every format. The obsession is no joke. Shards Of Frost is just that good.Eli, sweet fierce lonely Eli. I mean I knew the boy had grit but I just didn't not know he had that in him. I love a man so sure about himself and his mate. NOT ONCE did he question them! Fucking perfect, can I have one?!. Casey is my favourite heroine. If I was to describe what I love and want in one heroine it would be her. No joke. She's fiesty and sweet and straight up no bullshit. Also the women can kick ass like no other. For me she reminds me a little of Harper.. she's different but similar qualities. Also.... Casey fucking with Bracken is life. #volesoccer #psycopathictendencies #minkstoruletheworldTheir story is pure FIRE. It starts with a bang that doesn't stop. From the word go you are thrust into their fast paced hard hitting smoking hot crazy world and lord did I lap that shit right up. That instant connection was everything and really set the pace for the story to unfold. The chemistry between Casey and Eli was undeniable you could really feel the connection through the pages and not just because it was hot but on a emotional level aswell. It's so nice to have everything laid out bare because then there's no angsty back and forth drama. The characters are everything!!! It what I love so much about Suzanne's books. The connection and chemistry between all of them is something I envy!. That easy banter, the crazy outrageous shenanigans and sweet loyalty between them all makes it too easy to fall in love with every one of them. I'm so invested in them all and even though the main characters hold their own in this story the side characters add so much life to it. Hilarious humour, crazy happenings, lots of action and a little suspense with a dash of drama it's safe to say this story is jam packed full of all the goods to make a fucking awesome read. I can't even! A day after reading and my brain is still going crazy. My head is in shambles. I'm not ready to say bye to this series and these characters, I feel like I'm mourning a loss. Dramatic? Definitely. But it is what it is. Also sidenote... hell yes to Suzanne who not only whipped one or two releases out this month.. nope.. she has THREE And this one is self published. What a fucking women. U b my hero , never stop writting k? Thanks luv u. Am I finished.. I have no idea. Maybe I'll come back and write more crazy shit later because I just have so much to talk about!!. Second sidenote....Yes I'm not even going to pretend I did not have a tantrum when I seen she has no intentions of writing Cains story. I feel betrayed. I mean I get why but still my heart(WANTS IT) will not be at peace with my head(which totally understands why she won't) I want him and all his dark broody glory because it's Cain. I want to understand the man that doesn't care to be understood. xo

Eli and our heroine Casey meet at the Den where they each go to fight and let off some steam. Casey once again finds herself taking care of her addict brother’s mistake and finds herself having to fight to payoff his dealer. Casey was the perfect mate for Eli. She was dominant, assertive, straightforward and a little bit silly. I will say I had no clue minks could be so vicious 😈 I also had to google what a war dance was and omg I had no idea 😆😂🤣 One of the best parts about this pair was that the second they made eye contact, the mating urge kicked in. There were no initial blocks and both our H/h were all in. They had their own issues to work through to get through the bonding steps but this was the first couple that did not try to fight/avoid finding their true mate. I reviewed Untamed Delight yesterday and had issues with how the imprinting/true mate concept was talked about. I loved that Eli’s story here showed just how special finding your true mate could feel. The sex scenes between Eli and Casey were some of the hottest 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 scenes I have read out of the entire series (Phoenix and Mercury Pack combined). I loved that although Casey was highly dominant, she would allow herself to submit to her mate❤️❤️. I had gotten a bit tired of previous heroines constantly resisting some acts during sex to prove their dominance. Casey was a wonderful change!!! Just like in Untamed Delight, this book also had a wonderful epilogue several years out. I think I would have been satisfied if I got a short chapter from her point of view once she was an adult. (hide spoiler)]H⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️h⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Sex🔥🔥🔥🔥Story⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.8

It was nice to see them both so open to recognising their mate. Now Casey was awesome, not only a mink shifter (crazy little critters lol), but a really dominate one at that, even more so then Roni is. Her friendship with Madisyn's Pallis cat was so funny and to see how freaked out it made Bracken cracked me up!The final conflict event was pretty big and violent but honestly I was also amused by the antics of all the minks who are both vicious and playful at the same time, kinda made me giggle.Lots happening in this one and it was great seeing how the other couples relationships were progressing, I like that we got to see them all, as well as cameo's from the Phoenix pack members. While definitely sad to say goodbye I am really looking forward to whatever this author brings out next as she continues to be a one-click author for me!!! Even though this one could be read as a stand alone, I highly recommend you read both the Phoenix and Mercury Pack series (as they intertwine) in order so that you can get the full experience, you really wont be disappointed!

Eli finally gets his happy endingThis was the final Mercury Pack book and it was pretty good. Some of the members of the Mercury Pack were introduced pretty early on in the Phoenix pack series along with Shayla when Nick first met her. Nick is the Alpha of the Mercury Pack, which didn’t exist back then. At that time he was the Alpha of a different pack. Eli is his brother. We found out the story back then of the horrible things they endured when Roni was nearly raped by anti-shifter extremists, Nick killed one and was sent to Julie and Eli was forced to fight in illegal matches to the death in order to save Roni from a harem situation. Since then life has been great in the Mercury Pack. I like the fact that Suzanne Wright adds all these new shifter creatures. At first it was mostly just wolves, then cats, then some birds and even a snake, but this time the true mate is a Mink. It is fun how she incorporates the way these smaller creatures would be able to fight into things since there is always some sort of battle scene. This one is pretty good though I won’t give away any more spoilers. The romance between Eli and Casey is as hot as all get out. They know they are true mates from the first time they look into each other’s eyes and can barely get to her apartment before ripping each other’s clothes off. You can’t get much steamier than that. But there is tension and family drama. For a book that was over 400 pages, it went really fast. I love these books. There was a side story about Cain finding his true mate and I wish that would have been a separate book. I thin that would have been awesome. I love sociopaths finding love. Though he said it wasn’t love, but that was before.

It seems I'll be in a minority here.I bought this last week and it took me 7 days to completely finish it. Normally I finish Wright's books in 4 hours tops. While I liked both Characters, this book just didn't do it for me. It left me a bit bummed. I skimmed through a lot of the sex scenes. Let me tell you there was many.Maybe it was just me but I felt like there was a lot unnecessary sex scenes this time round. I get the 'mating' and intimate connection is vital. However, it felt like it was a bit over the top with how many times there was a sex scene or reference to one. Maybe because I was so happy with (and loved) Untamed Delights (Phoenix Pack series), I was on a a book high and had too high expectations for SoF? I don't know? What did I like then?I loved the Mink's. It was refreshing to see Wright use a new species in her book. I felt like this gave a great opening for the possibility to new series to come. I felt the final 30% of SoF really made the book. The banter between all the characters and how the Mink and Cat interacted in 'play', leaving Bracken and Eli somewhat quietly concerned. I loved the Minks.I liked seeing the offspring and old favourite characters.I loved the Minks.I also enjoyed seeing Kathy's relationship with her 3 children.I loved the Minks. <- See what I did there? So all in all, given this is probably the first 'it is okay' read rating from me (who has read every book Wright has published), I am going to still say that an impressive feat.So while this one wasn't a favourite I am still glad to have read it. Congrats on completing not 1 but 2 series ! 3.5 stars

Shards of Frost is the fifth and final book in the Mercury Pack series *sad face*. I have really enjoyed every book in this series, and would recommend reading the series in order to get the most enjoyment out of ALL the characters in the storyline. We finally have Eli's story. He is the dominant head enforcer of the Mercury Pack, and starting to feel all sorts of emotional turmoil from being the last unmated male in his pack. He can see everyday how happy all his mated pack mates are, and understandably wants that for himself. Casey Frost - also a dominant enforcer, has admired Eli from afar. She is therefore completely taken by surprise when the mating urge kicks in the first time she locks eyes with Eli. I loved how these 2 just completely gave in to the urge, there was no messing around or resistance due to basically being strangers. They just trusted fate, mated, and then went through the getting to know you process after. How awesome was Casey's breed of shifter!!!!! Crazy little guys they were. I really enjoyed the relationship she developed with Madisyn and her Pallas cat, it was hilarious. Poor Bracken, Casey and her shifter really got so much joy out of completely messing with his head.I don't think I've ever been so amused by a major battle scene as I was in Shards of Frost. Casey's old pack mates are both extremely vicious and very amusing at the same time, as they toy with and decimate the enemy. While I'm sad that this series has come to an end, I'm really excited about the next shifter series this author is set to release.

A definite must read story! Suzanne Wright quickly became one of my most favorite authors after I read the first book in the Phoenix Pack series, and with the amazing addition of the Mercury Pack, these are most definitely my top favorite shifter series! This is Eli's story, and let me tell you that it gets absolutely crazy, insanely hilarious, and downright naughty, and those are just the best parts. Lol! Both the Hero & Heroine have devastating pasts, but neither of them are willing to allow that to define who they are or allow themselves to be weakened by it. There's a lot of ups and downs, emotional turmoil, lots of suspense, secrets revealed, and unexpected twists and turns that will blow your mind. It's certainly not a book that you will want to miss! I would highly suggest that you read the previous books before starting this one. Although each book in both of the Mercury and Phoenix Pack series' can be read as stand alone novels, I wouldn't recommend it. You'll have a better understanding of the characters, the dynamics between the packs, and the overall aspects of the series' by reading both of them from beginning to end. They're all absolutely fantastic, insanely hilarious, and well worth the time to read them. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author!

I don't know if this was the last book in the Mercury Pack series but I hope not. We still have all the kids' stories to tell. This was the most gory of the shifter books. When he and Casey meet in the parking lot after he watches her take on a Cougar alpha with his own knife, they start to talk and their lust goes out of control. They grab hold of each other, kiss and feel the mating bond. Eli has found his true mate! You can read these books out of order but I find it's easier to follow the action if you start at the beginning. If you have read any of these books prior to this one (#5) you know how the plot goes. LOTS of graphic sex, the two characters struggle to complete the bond, and there is a shifter attack. This time it's the Minks fighting with the Mercury Pack to stop a pride (right term?) of Cougars; the leader being the man Casey fights with in the parking lot. So says the book, Minks are vicious fighters, they do a war dance before attacking, and after the battle the Wolves watch in amused horror as they stack up the bodies and roll decapitated heads around. This book has the most humor in it. Cain appears at the end of the book and what he does to one of the Cougars is the bloodiest mess yet described in the books. Well, Cain is a sociopath, he admits, so no surprise he is going to tear his enemy into stew-sized bits. All I can say is PLEASE write more!

On this Sunday morning it feels like too much effort to compile my thoughts into a flowing review so here are some random and unconnected observations on this book...Eli is intense, I knew he would be & I was looking forward to that... and I definitely enjoyed it. Suzanne Wright has often included nice moments that add nothing to the overall story but just give us a nice glimpse into pack life and dynamics, and I have always appreciated those, but there seemed to be a lot more in this book, I felt like some of it could have been trimmed. At the same time though, since this is an ending to a series, and perhaps she was feeling sentimental, I can totally forgive, because I am going to miss these guys!I felt the drama with Ignacio was underplayed, that could have been more detailed & complex, since he himself sounded like a complex guy.I’m totally gutted that we didn’t get to read Cain & Cassidy’s story, I feel like that would have been super interesting.Overall I enjoyed this a lot, I’ve enjoyed the whole series, and the Phoenix pack series, they’re all consistently amazing. While I don’t want to say goodbye, I am positive the Olympic Pride series will be awesome.
