The Guy on the Right
Strike One-My mother named me Theodore after her favorite chipmunk. Not cool, Mom.I‘ve spent most of my life answering to Teddy, because I couldn’t make Theo work.Except for here. College. The place where all bets are off, and I’ve managed to redeem myself. There’s only one problem, my new roommate, Troy, is football royalty and looks like he stepped off the set of an Abercrombie shoot.Doesn’t matter, I cook a mean breakfast for his panty parade, and we get along well. And anyway, this year I got the girl. And she’s perfect. That’s right. Theodore Houseman, former band geek, now marching band rock star has finally landed the girl of his dreams.Everything is perfect. That is, until Troy takes a good look at her.I’m not going down without a fight. As a matter of fact, I’m not going down at all. As glorious as these days may be for my all-star roommate, Laney is my end game. I may not know much about play strategy, but I’ve been the good guy my whole life. I’ve been listening and I know exactly what women want. Framed in a picture standing next to me, Troy may seem like Mr. Perfect, but he’s underestimating the guy on the right.Spoiler alert: In this story, the underdog is going to win.

5+ stars! I’m not sure if I’ve EVER had this much fun reading a book. Or laughed as hard while reading. Or had such a HUGE BOOK HANGOVER. I am obsessed with this story. Days after reading and my mind was still on Theo and Laney. I love a lot of books, but rarely do they stay with me like this or have such an impact. Especially the rom-com types, but this book was truly exceptional! Have you ever heard the term ‘Nice guys finish last’? Theo certainly has. He’s always been the nice guy, the band g 5+ stars! He’s always been the nice guy, the band geek, the sweetheart, and he’s never got the girl. He’s roommates with Troy, who is is opposite. Star of the football team and all around ladies man. Then Theo meets Laney. Way out of his league, but they click. “We can hang out,” she smiles back at me as she rolls away, “ and live our realest life.”
Laney and Theo become the best of friends. Laney usually goes for the hot guys, the Troys of the world. It’s not that Theo is unattractive, he’s just overlooked. The closer these two become as friends, the more Laney begins to really see Theo. We’re polar opposites. I’m way too country and he’s a whole lot of everything else. We shouldn’t fit, but we do, and our fit is nothing short of spectacular.
Friends to lovers is one of my absolute favorite troupes and this was done perfectly. You saw the build up right before your eyes. It’s funny how people become so much more beautiful to you when you truly get to know them. The friendship, the anticipation, the sexual tension, and the explosiveness when it finally comes to fruition… gah! I love it! The Guy on the Right is by far the funniest book I’ve read all year and one of the funniest books I’ve read ever. There was one scene I laughed so hard I was crying. (view spoiler)[“Listen to me, Housman, we weren’t supposed to eat that much. We are Snoop Dog at the Chronic Olympics high. We have an Uber coming in five minutes. I need you to find your feet.” “I dunno that’s plauisbble.” OMG I WAS DYING!!!!!!!! (hide spoiler)] It was hilarious, had a ton of heart, and just the right amount of angst. I don’t say this lightly, but it was seriously the perfect book. There wasn’t one thing I didn’t absolutely love about it. Watching Theo and Laney fall for one another was everything. I might’ve fallen slowly but I just landed impossibly deep. Fellow readers, you need this book in your life. I read the entire thing from cover to cover in one night. I couldn’t put it down. I can’t recommend it enough. I love new adult romances and books that make me laugh, smile, and feel. This book had all that in spades. And as always, Kate Stewart’s writing was impeccable. The humor was spot on and it was just so great. I could go on and on about how much I loved it, but I think you get it by now! A top top favorite of the year and one I highly recommend!

They just work.Theo is a good guy who doesn’t get all the girls. He doesn’t want all the girls. He wants the ONE and all the emotions that comes along with it. He’s not a one night stand kind of guy like his roommates. Theo meets the outspoken and spontaneous Laney outside in the dark at a party. Even though they can’t see each other’s faces the connection is immediately. They unload on each other thinking they will never meet again. Well think again. The second time the meet each other I was done for. Theo and Laney had me. Hook, line and sinker. Their friendship and courtship was filled with so much humor, romance and laugh out loud moments. Starting with an instagram page. It was truly a beautiful friendship in the making and as they started to spend more time together, stripping layers of each other, they both discovered how special this bond they had created was. The build up was flawlessly written and as the story and their friendship progressed I started yearning for them to just give in and KISS. The pent up tension was insane and the reward was explosive. So damn hot and so worth it. As opposites as Theo and Laney are they complement each other perfectly. Their families and friends especially Theo’s 3 older sisters and Laney’s mother and bestie Devin are fun and deliver memorable moments too. The Guy On The Right is the perfect feel good, laugh out loud, swoon worthy summer book. Strangers who become best friends who become so much more than lovers. It’s a roller coaster of laughs and romance. From sniping hunting, to getting high to a tornado. Just to name a few highlights. It’s not even half of it. Just jump on board the Kate Stewart express and hold on for the ride.Kate Stewart delivered comedy with her Balls In Play series and with The Guy On The Right she excels and has created a home run. Theo and Laney gave me all I could’ve ever imagined. A love story to remember. What a couple! 5 Taco & Grand Band Man StarsBETA READ

Theo Houseman is a 21 yr. old junior at Texas Grand University. He lives in College Station where he rents a place with two football athletes who are every woman’s dream. He’s a former band geek, who grew up with three older sisters who called him Teddy. Now he’s Theo. A college guy with a fresh start who knows what he wants. He might be the dependable good guy, but he shouldn’t be underestimated, because when he finally lands the girl if his dreams, he will do anything to keep her. This feisty, independent brunette is his opposite in every way, but she gets him. Laney Cox is a senior at TGU. She’s decided she’s done dating for a while, and then she meets Theo. He’s not her usual type, but something about him is really appealing. They just click, and it’s easy and effortless between them. They become the best of friends who form a real, genuine connection. They talk about everything and are inseparable. As they spend more time together, they become even more drawn to one another. Together they just make sense. Neither wants to ruin this friendship that’s so important to them, but feelings are getting harder and harder to ignore. -No man has ever looked at me the way he did after he kissed me.-He’s with me, utterly and completely lost in our connection.-“You, sir, have single-handedly brought magic back into my life.” The Guy On The Right by Kate Stewart is a hilarious friend’s to lovers college romance. Let me start by saying Theo Houseman is freaking awesome!!! This is a guy who is nice, but knows his worth. I loved that he wasn’t willing to just settle, and his confidence was super sexy. Then his heart... this man’s heart was stunningly beautiful, and one of a kind. I couldn’t quit laughing and smiling while reading this book. It’s pure joy, and one of the best romantic comedies I’ve ever read! Kate Stewart will now have two books on my tops reads of 2019. I can’t stop thinking about these characters. Pick up this book! You are in for a treat with Theo Houseman! ❤️❤️❤️ -Grannism- Not all men are created equal. Half of them were created due to God’s sense of humor.***NOW AVAILABLE***https://amzn.to/2YwjSkC

I was expecting a story about an OM that relentlessly tries to get between the MC's undying love for each other. Not what happens. In fact Troy, who is supposed to be the OM, was barely in this at all and the blurb doesnt fit the story until the 95% mark. So now youre just reading chapters and chapters and c.h.a.p.t.e.r.s. of the H and h being goofy with each other. Normally I wouldn't mind this but there was just so much of it and none of it was romantic in my eyes. I'd say 75% of their interactions are platonic and had zero chemistry. Even at the 40% mark of the book the h was still trying to decide if she liked the H, and the H was still a little jealous over his ex. I skimmed ALOT because there were alot of chapters where nothing was happening. The misleading blurb had me very distracted because I kept reading and expecting something different. Or imagining how I would have written this if I was the author. While there were alot of things wrong with this I will mention the things this author got right. First! A hero that is a normal 21 year old man. He felt real and authentic. He wasnt a billionaire bachelor or whatever alpha-hole everyone else writes about. He was an underdog in all the ways that make men like him attractive to read about. I want more authentic male representation in books so im not constantly reading about men who are literal scum of the earth that get a HEA. Second! The heroine had more sexual experience than the Hero. By alot. THANK YOU! Third! This book didn't rely on overused stereotypes. None of the characters fell into your typical college 'buckets'.... maybe except for Troy who is the typical sports star manwhore. But as for the main characters, they were fleshed out and not what you would normally expect. Safety: Man, this is where you lost me. -Hero is a virgin at the beggining of the book right. Sounds good right? Wrong. He loses his virginity to a random girl at a party. He feels like shit for it and goes outside so he can sulk. This is where he finds the heroine breaking up with her boyfriend. The H and h than have a heart to heart about how he lost his virginity. <---- im mad this happened. Why did the book have to start off this way?! it left a really bad taste in my mouth that lingered for almost the entire book.-Troy, OM, hits on the h like... twice. And then causes drama at the end. H thinks the h is interested in OM and causes them to breakup for a few weeks. -Slight OW drama. H's ex pops up once but she doesnt want him back. H's ex has sex with Troy and the H finds her in their apartment the next morning.

"Years from now, when we tell our story, I know my version. It will be about a young girl who went from hopeful to a hopeless romantic in a few notes that only her Prince Charming could play. He didn’t show up on a white horse declaring that she hops on before he gallops away. No, this prince got off his horse, fell on his ass, and stumbled in the mud with her until she could mount her own stallion. And then, in one last act of bravery, he gently trotted beside her into the unknown." NEVER HAVE I EVER read a story like this...Never have I ever been this bowled over by Kate's immense talent...Never have I ever been MORE in love with her beautiful soul, than I have been after I closed this book..Gentle romance with a real hero- Theodore "Teddy" who doesn't wear a cape. He gets swallowed in the shadows of hunky chiseled Alphas he stands next to, until a Gypsy Heart wanders over in her Rust colored Dinosaur and rescues this adorable boy from the Ghost Pains.I'm not telling y'all a single thing no more, you need to go in blind and fall in love with a big THUD. Who don't throw OTT grand gestures of love but silently hold your hair when you puke and are there for you when your heart breaks...in other words which you generally Friendzoned or "Teddy'd" "My gypsy heart no longer beats that beatnik way. It now thrums in a happy and monogamous rhythm, spelling out his name every four beats. Theo’s carefully carved his place in my life and over my heart. It’s etched all over me." I'm so hungover, so enamored, I'm still lying in those pages. My only problem- I wanted it to go on and on.. Hilarious situations are scattered throughout between Theo and Laney, Theo and his demented Trio of sisters, Theo and his Housemates, it's just heartfelt and sweet and cute and makes you shed tears and tickles you, you uproariously laugh and grin wide throughout the book😀 P.S I married the Guy on The Right and got my Happily Ever After#TotallyHungover #KateIsMyBae #INeedTheo #LivingMyRealestLife #ReadingTheBestestStories#GranismsAreLife #BestRomComOfTheYear #UnderdogsWillRuleTheWorld #NiceGuysFinishFirst #TroysAreOverrated #CrazyLaneyAndTheGrandBandMan#NotAllHeroesWearCapes #TheTuffMan #CountryGirlGetsAllOtherMusicMan #BeatThePrince #ItsJustUs#TheGuyOnTheRight ❤️ 6 stars for men who worship clitoris #BookBistroBlogApprovedFollow me :[email protected]://twitter.com/BookBistroBlogwww.instagram.com/BookBistroBloghttps://Bookbistroblogger.blogspot.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/BookB...

At first, he comes off as being the nerdy and somewhat awkward sidekick. Theo and Laney are so completely different that I didn’t think these two could ever have “white-hot” chemistry. I should have known that Kate would eventually ignite the spark between Theo and Laney in such a way that my heart was fully invested in this couple. Theo Houseman went from band geek to a sexy as hell book boyfriend, and Laney might be one of my most favorite of Kate Stewart’s Heroines.Laney and Theo both have been burned by their past relationships. They vow to be strictly friends and for a while, this works for them, until one day they no longer want to remain in the friend zone. I’m not going to lie, it took quite a while for things to heat up but once they did, I 100% felt the chemistry between them. Their relationship was as equally heartfelt as it was passionate. We shouldn’t fit, but we do, and our fit is nothing short of spectacular." One of my favourite books from Kate Stewart is her romantic dramedy, Anything But Minor. Seeing a different side to Kate Stewart's writing was like a breath of fresh air and after many of her trademark angstathons, she has delivered yet another romantic dramedy winner. I still can't believe that it eclipsed ABM for me. The Guy on the Right is hilarious, yet has the perfect balance of swoon, hot and I mean hot dances between the sheets, one of the best and hottest first kisses EVER, a little angst, a few tears both in laughter and upset, and one of the best endings. This book had EVERYTHING. "We made love, as cheesy as it sounds, but there isn’t another word for it, not at all. It wasn’t sex, and it was far too intimate to be fucking. Well, maybe the third or fourth time could be considered fucking. Those were more porn than promise, but neither of us had any objections." Theo is one of those heroes that you will champion along from the very beginning. He is not your typical jock, but a man with heart and soul. Brought up with three sisters, this man has women down pat, their behaviour, their temperament, their feisty attitudes and definitely their ways of thinking. The one thing he hasn't mastered though is his own relationships with women. He thought he had the one, but alas, had his heart trampled and he has been reticent to try again since. When a chance encounter with Laney happens, the world as Theo knows it is turned on its axis, for the better. Laney is one of my favourite heroines ever. If this woman was a piece of rock, she would have Texas running right through her. She is sassy, she says what she thinks, she is honest to a fault and has absolutely no filter, which only makes her all the more lovable. She works hard and plays harder. Until she met Theo. Laney may have a gypsy heart, but Theo is just the man to give her a reason to plant roots. "She’s a second look kind of girl. The first look at her is for simple appreciation for the stunner she is. The second look is a realization of what an idiot you were for not looking longer the first time around." Theo knows he is batting way above his league, but for these two, it just didn't matter. They clicked. Friends first, these two just gelled and became the best of friends and seeing this friendship develop was in itself a story. Friends to lovers is one of my favourite tropes and give me an underdog to root for, you can bet that I will be their biggest supporter, but Theo made this a no brainer. "We’re in the middle of the fucking woods with a rubber slingshot. And don’t think for one second I won’t toss you in front of me at the first sign of danger, because I’m not that guy. You will die first." I was championing these two along from the very start, and while Laney usually goes for the bad boys, the fly by nights, like Theo's roommate, Troy, Laney finally sees the other side and wonders what in the hell took her so long. This is no instalove, it takes time for Laney's eyes to open and see the perfect specimen in front of her, but the fall, OMG the fall. Kate Stewart delivers BIG STYLE! I had a permagrin while reading this book, had a stitch through laughing and while it isn't all plain sailing (of course where is the fun in that) the angst that is thrown in was well delivered, tear-inducing and made the make up all the better. "If I’m completely honest, I’ve been falling for him in pieces since the night we met. And for the first time since we started the relationship, I’m unsure if I’m worthy of such a gift. The gift of knowing him, of seeing him this way, of being on this side of his affection." The Guy on the Right is the perfect summer read. This book will make you feel good, it will brighten the gloomiest of days and with a nod to the southern women's bible, Steel Magnolias, there is many a one-liner that will have you crying with laughter in the best way possible. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.www.theromancecover.com

Of course, I already knew she could write comedy (her Balls in Play series is one of my all-time-favorites) but she always comes with unique ideas and refreshing characters. The Guy on the Right is another fabulous example of how talented Kate is.So, The Guy on the Right is Kate’s newest standalone romcom (already LIVE!) and it’s the story of how the underdog finally wins the love of the one he falls for. Theodore Houseman has always been the unseen good guy behind his sexy roommates, especially Troy. Well, then this swoony nerd meets Laney Cox, a feisty young woman, and she changes his life forever. They start an amazing friendship that cannot be stopped from becoming so much more. And Theo is decided not to lose his girl to anyone, especially not to his hot athlete roommate. I’ve most definitely been friend-zoned, or in my case, Teddy’d. WOW! Of course, The Guy on the Right was simply out of this world! I always have the highest expectations when it comes to Kate Stewart and she definitely did not fail with this one. This novel is an outstanding new adult romance with lots of comedy, originality, a whole lot of chemistry and all the feels. Both Theo and Laney are exotic and exceptional characters that killed me with their banter, hilarious comments and chemistry. They are so funny together, I almost freaking cried of laughter! These two polar opposites complete each other 100%. No matter how hard I’ve tried to stop it, I’ve fallen under her spell. She makes me want, and often. She’s entirely too much woman to ignore.I might’ve fallen slowly, but I just landed impossibly deep. And you know what’s even better? When the sexual tension and the feelings start to show. Actually Theo felt much more for Laney from their very first meeting and when their friendship finally goes to the next level, MY GOD! These two are freaking explosive and just perfect together. Theo and Laney are probably one of my favorite couples Kate has created and you’ll see why if you read The Guy on the Right. And, as always, the woman knows how to wrap up a love story fantastically well. Gah, I am so happy after finishing this book! My gypsy heart no longer beats that beatnik way. It now thrums in a happy and monogamous rhythm, spelling out his name every four beats. Therefore, I am rating The Guy on the Right with 5 STARS because it made me fall in love all over again with Kate Stewart’s funny and lighter side all over again. This love story was to die for, it had everything I enjoy in a romantic comedy and so much more. I freaking adored Theo (can I have him, pleaseeeee?) and Laney was simply kick-ass! These two together simply melted my insides. Kate never disappoints me and you still haven’t checked her works, what are you waiting for? Of course, I highly recommend reading this one!CHECK OUT MY BLOG HERE:

But that’s just the thing with expectations, isn’t it? It’s not the first time this happens to me and probably won’t be the last. My guess is that to me the blurb is a little bit misleading on what to expect. Maybe I read it wrong… So my bad. This book is such a slow burn romance starting of with a head start but suddenly falling back without reason. If it wasn’t for the fact, that this book was written by one of my favourite authors and knowing how she’s capable to pull off her stories, I would have quit by 30%. The first third of this book didn’t grab me at all. I had trouble to connect with the characters and trouble seeing/feeling the connection between them. But once the magical barrier was broken, I couldn’t get enough from Theo and Laney. Theo and Laney are special and I really love that about them. They are authentic to me as a reader and they are authentic towards each other and their friends. Not perfect, showing their flaws, almost carrying them with pride. They really live their realest life. I also love the messages this story caries. Yes, there is more than one and I recommend you to dive into this book and see for yourself.”We shouldn’t fit, but we do, and our fit is nothing short of spectacular.”Sadly I had some trouble with some minor parts of the book which came to me as gap filler. I didn’t see the connection to the read thread through the story. Even though some caught up later in the book, to me it was not important on how the story unfold. It doesn’t sit well with me if I question why this part was told and I don’t see it really fit. I never had this with Kate Steward’s books before.Nevertheless this book is such a cute story that had to told and has to be read. I know it deserves every single fantastic 5 star review it already got and probably will get in the future. It’s just me that some things didn’t sit so right with than I expected they would be.”While I laid myself bare, he’s been spoon-feeding me pieces of himself. Layer by layer, everything he’s unveiled has only made me fall harder.”The Guy on The Right is a special and unique friends to lovers romance that will warm your heart and you definitely don’t want to miss out on!

Her character doled out countless chuckles, and the “Steel Magnolia,” quotes, and scenes get bonus points in my book any day, right alongside the “Grannisms!” There were new Grannisms with each chapter. Some were more poignant, or playful then the ones I’ve listed...I enjoyed them all! “Grannism—Don’t give anyone the whole map, and only trust a few with directions.”“Grannism—Don’t go cheap on the toilet paper, just don’t.”“Grannism—You aren’t hungry, you’re bored.”“Grannism—Love ‘em enough to let them break your heart but learn enough so they don’t break your spirit.”Theo, was just aces all the way as far as guy friends go! He too was witty, and was a very fitting more practical, and dependable counterpart to Layne’s chaotic, gypsy heart! But when he stood up for what was right, or admitted his wrongs, he grew a foot taller in my eyes! This opposites attract couple will go down as a favorite. “Two oddballs, who aren’t so odd when we’re together.” And the ultimate underdog, the “Grand Band Man,” surely won my heart! I’m completely hooked on this flavor of K.S. writing style. So super excited that this series will continue on with Troy’s story, “Fourth and Inches” due out this fall! Hoping that means Lance, will be getting a story too!#LivingOurRealistLife #IHeartThisCouple #KateStewartIsOneOfMyFavs

The slightly self deprecating Theo meets the slightly wacky Laney at the exact moment they simultaneously hit their bottom of the barrel. From that night they form a friendship that is so fun to watch blossom into more. They are so perfect for each other, it’s ridiculous and the cast of characters in their corners make the story all the more enjoyable. I loved every minute of The Guy on the Right. I managed to read 13 chapters and then put the book aside. Although it was very well written, the slow pace lessened my interest and I wasn’t so drawn in all this humour. I thought to skip a few chapters and keep reading, but this is not my usual type of reading. So I dnf it..

Gah. I love Kate Stewart stories. They are so rich, and deep. Even a story that’s a true laugh out loud till your side hurts, there is so much depth. Kate’s characters have backstories that make them real, alive, and human. This one is an underdog story. Except to me, Theo is all that a hero should be, so he’s not really an underdog. If you're a fan of the friends-to-lovers trope, this is simply a must read. The Guy On The Right was one of those books that sneaks up on you and makes you fall head over heels. It's cute, light and somewhat unassuming at first. You meet Theodor, Teddy to his annoying sisters, and his fall fast and hard for his subtle and down to earth charm. The guy is roommates with the biggest manwhore on campus and football royalty. So he's used to flying under the radar of Troy's hotness. After his last relationship left him decimated, he's not exactly the most confident of guys. But then an accidental meeting changes everything. I’ve most definitely been friend-zoned, or in my case, Teddy’d. Laney just got out of another disastrous relationship. After coming to the conclusion that she's been dating the wrong men, she decides that a break from penis is exactly what she needs. I’m turning over a new leaf. I’m done with Batman.” “What?” “It’s a syndrome. A type. I’m done.” ...“Think about it, Batman is the booty call superhero. Sexy-half face, looks amazin’ in the uniform, BUT, he only answers to the signal, at night. He never takes off his mask and only reveals his true colors once he’s already bedded the girl. I’ve been dating nothing but Batmen.” When Theo accidentally overhears her drunken breakup and later runs into Laney again, an unlikely friendship blossoms between them. This soon turns to something that catches both of them unaware. The bond between them becomes so strong that it soon leads to the realization that there's definitely something else beneath the friendly jokes and camaraderie. Something that Theo and Laney are both too nervous to act on so that they don't ruin their friendship.Admittedly, the first 40% of the book had a lot of dialogue. The buildup between these two was very much a slow burn. While I love a good slow burn, I did struggle a little to get into the story. There's a lot of camaraderie that happens that was cute to read about but didn't feel...necessary. At least not for me. But then, right around the 40% mark, the story totally snuck up on me and clobbered me over the head with the cute feels. I was completely enamored with the characters and the story and couldn't bear to put it down for even a second. I was totally sucked in!The second half of this book was absolute swoony perfection. I loved watching Theo really come into his own and let that hidden dominant side out. I loved that he was a genuine nice guy but still very much an alpha. I adored his protective and sweet side. And I absolutely fell head over heels for his insecure and vulnerable side. Laney was a wonderful heroine. I loved her sass and backbone and the way she wasn't shy about fighting for Theo, even if it was Theo himself. I loved how she loved him. But I especially loved watching their relationship slowly and organically blossom into something more. At first I was afraid that she had more chemistry with Troy and Theo would fade into the background. But I was so happy that wasn't the case. Theo was very much the center of the story. This was one of those light hearted and funny romances that's slow to start but sizzles oh so hot when it finally gets going. Adorably sweet with just the right amount of sexy, it stole my heart and kept a smile on my face from beginning to finish. I can't wait to get Troy's story next!ARC courtesy of author in exchange for an honest reviewFind me on:

That's one of the bajillion things I loved about his character. He rocks in his own skin and while he's not one of the big dogs on campus, he knows he brings a lot to the table.Have you ever met a heroine that had just the perfect amount of sass to make you laugh all the time with a touch of vulnerability to let you know what a genuine person she is? That's a big reason to *love* Laney.I don't know how Kate dreams up these remarkable characters, but I am beyond thrilled that she does. I love everything this lady writes.Kate Stewart has taken the Rom-Com genre and spun it on its head to make it her own. She infuses her own brand of humor, heart and emotion to create a masterpiece.I loved every word and you will too!

3.75 starsThis was an odd one for me as I expected it to be a home run. I love a sweet, sexy, rom-com, and I love some angst. I just wasn’t sure which one I was getting until I got deeper into the book.I will start by saying that I loved Theo. It was awesome to get a hero that wasn’t an alpha. I think a big problem with this book was the blurb. I got the impression that his roommate Troy was really going after Laney. It sounded like there was going to be some angsty competition involved. This was not the case. Troy is hardly in the book and he has a couple of run in's with Laney that Theo is unaware of. I would have been okay with an angsty book or a sweet rom-com either way, but the blurb was misleading. I am really intrigued by Troy’s story as there is a bit of a surprise reveal about him towards the end. All in all I really enjoyed Theo and Laney together. They were fun. Love snuck up on them. I loved the slow burn. Theo still had some insecurities to work through and Laney had some growing up to do but they worked. If you love sweet, sexy, rom-coms you will love Theo and Laney.

She has had strong women in her life but realizes that starting with her father, men aren’t someone she can count on. She decides to do something different with Theo and watching the trajectory of their friendship is beautiful. Am I making this story sound tame? Let me apologize then cause when this couple take their relationship to the next level, you won’t be disappointed. Fanning myself thinking about it. SEXY! Wink. He’s not the guy we want to date or read about, that would be his alpha god roommate. No, Theo is the guy we meet at the parties and we like him because he’s a nice guy and has a “nice personality”. However, Theo is on a league of his own, and when he meets Lainey, oh its on! She’s way out of his league but there’s something about them that makes them click. Their chemistry is full of sexual tension, but there are things that happen that just make their honesty shine through along with a hefty overdose of cackling snort laughter!!How their story evolved and developed affirmed how we don’t always see people for WHO they are. I don't even need to tell you how desperately in love I fell with the guy on the right and the Texas firecracker that shakes up his whole world. Just run right now and go see it for yourself! From the very beginning, this book had me hooked. THEO had me hooked. He's so unlike any other romance hero I've read and I just adored him. I adored the friendship he builds with Laney. I adored their banter and the ridiculously hilarious antics they get up to together. But more, I loved the way their chemistry just kept building and building and building. I loved that the romance in this story felt so sweet and real and sexy and authentic all at once. I could feel every exquisite nuance of this beautiful story, every delectable morsel of the evolution of this friendship. This is NEXT LEVEL goodness, this book, and I can't say that enough. Kate Stewart blew me away with this book, with the sheer brilliance of her storytelling, with her razor sharp writing that only seems to grow more impressive with each new book. This book is one of those rare, precious gems that invites the reader in to FEEL and LIVE every single moment. I felt every look between these characters. I felt their struggle to open up after being burned in the past. I felt every kiss, every note of humor in their banter, every bit of quiet longing and insecurity in their slow burn. It was MAGICAL. Unforgettable. Heartfelt. So good. Just so so so good. This friends to lovers romance needs to be in your hands yesterday. You NEED it. You need to feel every bit of this MAGNIFICENT story of two college students who come together in the most honest way two characters can. Their evolution from strangers to friends to intimate lovers makes for a vibrant read that's light and fun yet angsty and complex all at once. It's smart and witty, full of both drama and laugh out loud hilarity. It's the full package, the real deal, the TOP MUST READ of the year. Words just aren't enough to express how much I wholeheartedly LOVED it!

WOW this book is simply perfect! There is literally not a single thing I didn’t like about it. I laughed, cried and felt so much joy reading this. It’s a quick read with a friends to lovers trope set in college. Laney and Theo meet in a very unusual way, leaving not knowing what each other looked like or even their names. Their second meet is hilarious as well as many of their other interactions later. Their banter is so good. The writing and pacing of the book were perfect. I LOVED this couple and I was rooting for them all the way. I am very interested to read Troy’s novella coming soon. Highly recommend this one! Wasn’t funny for me, but it was cute. Author was spot on describing Theo that I forgot all about beards and long hair guys and how it’s not my thing. But I wouldn’t mind one. Lol. There will be a novella with Troy and well I’m not a fan of second characters books but probably will get a better ending to this book. The epilogue was lack Rom com is such a tricky one for me. The epilogue was lacking for me just a ring. 🥴There is ex drama for him, still hung up on her so that was a drag.
