Hero's Haven (Dark Protectors #11)
He’s her darkest fantasy. . .   After years of struggling, Haven Daly has finally accepted that she’s nuttier than a fruitcake. Why else would she see visions of a beautiful but tormented male every night . . . and actually believe she can talk to him, even feel his touch?  But thanks to those dream journeys, she can paint images nobody else on earth can duplicate. In each brush stroke, she captures the blatant masculinity and raw desire in his eyes that promise he’s coming for her…and soon.     She’s the light that keeps him going. . .   Quade Kayrs has already suffered a lifetime of pain and torture. Completely isolated, he kept his sanity  thanks to one beautiful female, a vision with kind emerald eyes. In the end, her soft voice led him out of hell. Now, naked and alone, he’s in a strange world that bears little resemblance to the one he left behind. All he knows is Haven.  All he wants is Haven.  His final mission? To protect her from the evil hunting them both—whether she likes it or not . . .   “Spicy romantic interplay; highly recommended.” —Library Journal on Vampire’s Faith   “Sizzling sex scenes and a memorable cast.” —Publishers Weekly on Claimed   “A fast-paced, excitement-filled explosion of action… Zanetti keeps getting better.”—RT Book Reviews on Marked, 4.5 Stars Top Pick

HERO’S HAVEN by Rebecca Zanetti is the eleventh book in the Dark Protectors paranormal romantic suspense series. It worked as a stand-alone novel for me and is the second book that I have read in the series this year. However, I believe reading the previous books would likely add to a reader’s enjoyment of the novel. The story takes place in several fantasy worlds as well as several western USA states including Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Utah. Haven Daly dreams of a tormented man every night HERO’S HAVEN by Rebecca Zanetti is the eleventh book in the Dark Protectors paranormal romantic suspense series. Haven Daly dreams of a tormented man every night and thinks she can talk to him. During the day, she paints him and has even got a showing of her art in a gallery. Meanwhile, Quade Kayrs has experienced pain, torture, and isolation for lifetimes. He keeps his sanity through visions of a beautiful woman. Haven is a strong, independent woman who doesn’t easily succumb to heavy-handed protectiveness. Much to her amazement she is also an unusual blend of species making her a target for multiple groups. Meanwhile, Quade is dealing with new technology, family reunions, and a woman who won’t do as he demands. The story had me hooked quickly and the tension and action as well as the romantic sparks did not let up throughout the book. The main characters are compelling and well developed with clear goals and motivations. The story delivers on the promise of its opening scenes and includes demons, vampires, steamy romance scenes, species hybrids, fae, humor, enemies, other dimensions, murder, kidnappings, brotherhood, vows, family, adoption, humor, the expected alpha males, and so much more.Overall, I enjoyed this well-written novel and recommend the series to those that enjoy this genre. The plot was engrossing, fast-paced, action-packed, entertaining and thought-provoking. The world-building was intriguing and very visual. The ending was satisfying and intense. I look forward to reading the other books in this series. Thanks to Kensington Books / Lyrical Underground and Rebecca Zanetti for a digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley and the opportunity to provide an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.

Well, well, well, I rather enjoyed that. I love this world that Zanetti has built, love her alpha male vampires/demons/hybrids that are really just Neanderthals with fangs. What I haven't liked in a few books is the heroines but I'm happy to say I liked Haven. Hero's Haven is Quade and Haven's story. I'm so glad Quade has finally come home. It was pretty fun to see him adjust to technology after being away for so long. He's still got that famous Zanetti alpha personality that I love so much.Haven is one of my more favorite heroines in this series. She's not a fighter at all but that never seemed to be a handicap for her. It's cool to find out what she is and the capabilities that she has. She played such a big role in this book. I just love this world that RZ has created. This is one of those series where I hope we get tons of books but also makes me anxious to see how this is all going to play out with Ulrich. I'm willing to be patient because we have more Zanetti males to find their mates. Benny is going to be one crazy ride!

Rebecca Zanetti adds another unputdownable, non-stop action read with explosive chemistry to her Dark Protectors series. Haven Daly had resigned to the fact that she wasn’t normal. How else could she explain the dreams of other worlds she so expertly exhibited in her paintings? Or the incredibly handsome man she envisioned she could talk to and practically feel? Then that man appeared before her. Naked. In a snowy field while being attacked by strange men with fangs. Or the incredibly handsome man she envisioned she could talk to and practically feel? Then that man appeared before her. Naked. In a snowy field while being attacked by strange men with fangs. It was at that moment that she knew she had completely lost it or her worldview had totally been turned on its axis. She had survived so far, she could find a way to survive in this new crazy world. Right? “This is real,” he said, his voice guttural and raw. “You have to know. This is real.”She could only nod. It had to be. Right?A long time ago, demon-vampire hybrid Quade Kayrs endured an excruciatingly painful ritual to become one of the Seven and sacrificed his life to guard the world against a great evil and the only way to maintain his sanity against the endless torture was to focus on the lovely vision of Haven who after centuries led him back to a world he hardly recognized. He’s only certain of two things: he wants Haven and needs to find his family to help keep evil at bay. Every time I open a Rebecca Zanetti book I know I’ll be getting all of my favs: a strong heroine, delightful familial bonds, heart stopping action, a hooking plot, a delicious alpha male and scorching sexy times. Hero’s Haven gave me all that and more. Once back on this world, Quade instantly recognizes Haven as an immortal being (even if she doesn’t know it), AND as his mate. He thought he’d never have one. He knew he’d sacrifice himself for the greater good, but as he acclimates himself to this strange new world (so funny) and while he finds his brothers, he will be her protector. Of course Haven has options on the latter given that she’s been on her own for a long time and every interaction between them not only helps build their relationship but also ratchets up the sexual tension between them. Yet there are many reasons and circumstances that keep getting in their way. But the romance unfolds in a way that made me savor each word and also want me to reach the end.I loved reading more about the Seven and past characters. The overall arc keeps getting more and more thrilling and I can’t wait to continue reading this very exciting series. Hero’s Haven is book #11 of the Dark Protectors series by author Rebecca Zanetti. 4.5 StarsI love this world so much. I can't get enough of the Enforcers. This is Quade's story. It promised to be heart wrenching and it was. But the author also gave us a great bit of action, some humor and of course that pesky Karys mating symbol. I loved Haven's back story. More intrigue was laid for the overarching story line. The whole gang seems to be present and ready for whatever comes next. It was great to see the Enforcers and their mates again. If I have an issue, it is with the 4.5 StarsI love this world so much. “He had returned. This world had better be ready.”5 stars!OMG, I love this book! It’s action packed and a wild ride from start to finish, I was hooked from the very first moment and struggled to put this one down. It’s exciting, fun and intriguing with fantastic character dynamics and a gorgeous romance, and I loved every little bit of it. It’s exciting, fun and intriguing with fantastic character dynamics and a gorgeous romance, and I loved every little bit of it. I’m a huge fan of the Dark Protectors series and am loving the direction of this second story arc that began in book #8, shifting the storyline away from the Realm and to the Seven – a secretive, elite group of immortal warriors charged with protecting the world from super-villain, Ulric. Quade Kayrs (great, great uncle to the original Kayrs boys in the series) is a demon-vampire hybrid and was one of the original Seven. He was chosen to exist in a ‘bubble’ realm created to keep Ulric captive, and he has endured centuries of endless torture, dying over and over again as he works to keep Ulric’s prison intact. His one touchstone has been the soothing glimpses of a beautiful but mysterious woman, Haven, and when his very world began collapsing around him, it is her voice that leads him through to safety.Haven Daly is a woman on the run from her past. She endured unimaginable torment at the hands of her adopted family who believed she was possessed by a demon. Why else would she have strange visions, and dream of supernatural creatures? Well, it turns out she’s an actual demon… not that she knows that. She now lives her life in hiding, accepting of the fact that there is clearly something wrong with her, and content to follow her feelings as she is pulled in a particular direction, to a man that she has seen only in her dreams, and now, for the first time, in the flesh. “This is real,” he said, his voice guttural and raw. “You have to know. This is real.”She could only nod. It had to be. Right? Quade is back on earth for the first time in over 2,000 years, and the first person he sees is the woman who helped him find his way home. He instantly recognises Haven as a fellow supernatural, and not only that, but as his fated mate. It’s something he thought he’d never have, and as a member of the Seven, it’s not something he thought he’d be allowed to have. But the female is his, and he puts himself in the role of protector as the two of them team up to find his ‘brothers’ in the Seven, all while danger is closing in on them. There was a time he’d accepted the fate of dying alone on that horrible world. This was another chance to live a different life, one he had not even dared to dream about before. The female had saved him, and now he would save her. God, I love this story. Quade and Haven are absolutely sensational characters - both with their quirks, which is very understandable given the lives they’ve lived. Quade’s reintroduction to life on earth is so entertaining, and the bickering and bantering between the two of them is so much fun. She licked her lips, and his eyes flared. “I’m not into the whole alpha male thing.” Not true. Her body was all in. She never should have drunk half a bottle of whiskey. Four steps forward, and she could have her mouth on that hot male skin. “Sorry.”“Alpha male thing?” He rubbed his cleanly shaven jaw. “Explain.”“That. That order,” she burst out. “I’m not into guys who think they’re in charge and are all grrrr.”He frowned. “I’m not all grrrr.”This was getting ridiculous.“But I am in charge.” Every interaction between them is underpinned by their sizzling chemistry. As destined mates, it’s hard for them to resist each other, but there are things in the way of them being together, and the push and pull is absolutely delicious! The sexual tension builds brilliantly, and I loved watching them find their way forward in their own unique way. He paused and looked up at her until she focused on him. “You are worth waiting for, Haven Daley. Someday, when you’re ready, your heart will be mine.”His words barely computed, but her heart warmed anyway. He twisted those fingers inside her, sending electricity along every nerve. “For now, your pleasure is.” It’s sexy and sweet, and the love story develops beautifully, and I loved watching it happen. And it all unfolds amidst much excitement as they constantly fight for their survival against enemies old and new, and I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough. There is drama and some gorgeous emotion with the long-waited reunion with the Seven, and their meet up with the boys of Realm is awesome, giving us the chance to catch up with characters from the previous books – including earlier in the series – and I loved that so much. The storyline is continuing to build to its exciting climax, with Haven a big part of that, and with books coming for the rest of the Seven, and an intriguing story continuing to develop for little Hope Kayrs-Killwood, I’m so excited for what is to come! This book is everything that I love about paranormal romance, and I freaking loved it! 5 stars. An Advanced Review Copy was generously provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

So I wasn't looking forward to this novella because Quade Karys and his eternity spent in an alternate dimension sacrificing himself to save the world, yawn, all the angst, yawn. Also, isn't it a rule that you can't rely on anything said in the throes of passion? You certainly can't believe a guy when he says he loves you so why should Quade extract a promise to obey him in everything by withholding orgasms?Anyhoo, when Quade starting laying down the law, and he only wanted to mate Haven so that he could take on her powers and go and rescue the lost Fae/imprison Ulric on his own - talk about a metaphor for marriage taking power away from women! - I lost interest. Also, does it seem to anyone else that Pierce and Ulric are quite frankly more clever and more powerful that the Seven? Just putting it out there ...Anyway, Quade hits some of my PNR buttons so this was only a three star read for me, others may well adore his manly take-charge nature. Can mad Ben be the next of the Seven to find a mate? And please for the love of all that is holy can we kill/imprison Ulric forever now?I received a free copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I have read this entire series and have really enjoyed it. This is Quade and Haven's story... For readers of the series, Quade is one of the Seven, the one who wants to kill Ulric. Haven Daly and Quade Kayrs have been dreaming about each other for years, with Haven on Earth believing herself to be crazy, and Quade in his dimension trying to keep Ulric from escaping. Quade believed the end was in sight for him and he was embracing it with open arms, when Haven appeared and somehow pulled him back into the real world. The two have to go on the run together to escape the Kurjans, and eventually they find their way to the rest of Quade’s band of brothers. Slowly Haven came to realize that she is not crazy after all, and there is a perfectly logical explanation for everything.Quade seemed to adapt really fast to being around other people after spending centuries alone and in pain and despair. I really liked Haven. She was dealing with a lot of things in her life that didn’t make sense, and an adoptive father whose main mission in life is to literally exorcise her demons. This book brought more of the Seven together for their final mission to rid the world of Ulric. We also see more of the other characters in Realm Headquarters, and that was a lot of fun to read. I would love it if they could get their acts together and start working with each other, instead of being so secretive all the time. The action was exciting, and the relationship between Quade and Haven built up really well. I also like the title, it works well for this story. Can’t wait to read more.I received an advanced copy of the book from Netgalley to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Loved, loved, loved!! Great addition to an already amazing series!! I love the 7 take on the Dark Protectors and I really enjoyed Quade and Haven's story. Especially with all the build up from prior books. This book picks up where the last on left off. Haven and Quade finally are together and their relationship blooms from there. Of course Quade is your overbearing, sexy alpha and Haven is a strong female characters. Tons of drama, violence, romance and steaminess!! Definitely recommend.

I have been looking forward to Quade’s story since the introduction of The Seven in Vampire’s Faith, and I was not disappointed. Haven rescues Quade from the dimension that’s about to implode and brings him back to his brother and the rest of The Seven. Quade quickly adapts to things that have changed in the centuries he had been in the other dimension, except for the fact that toothpaste is used to brush his teeth, not to eat. His love of eating the toothpaste, and Haven’s scolding him for it, I have been looking forward to Quade’s story since the introduction of The Seven in Vampire’s Faith, and I was not disappointed. Quade quickly adapts to things that have changed in the centuries he had been in the other dimension, except for the fact that toothpaste is used to brush his teeth, not to eat. His love of eating the toothpaste, and Haven’s scolding him for it, kept making me laugh. Even Hope tries to get him to eat mint ice cream instead. At times Quade comes across as extremely overprotective of Haven, but Haven always puts him in his place. She refuses to be treated like she can’t make her own decisions or that she can’t protect herself. She had been doing it for years and wasn’t about to let Quade act like an Alpha and take that away from her. As the series progresses, The Seven have more interactions with other members of the Kayrs family in the Realm. I enjoyed seeing them all interact and how the younger Kayrs family members look out for the older ones, even if they don’t care for The Seven and what they did with the dimensions.Things are progressing and we get more of a glimpse of Ulric. Ulric also seems to be creating a rift between Hope and Drake. Hope believes The Seven’s claim that he’s bad, but Drake views him as the spiritual leader for the Kurjans and believes The Seven are wrong about him. I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out and how it affects their relationship. This is the eleventh book in the series. I would recommend, if you haven’t already, starting with Vampire’s Faith, which is book eight in the series. That is when The Seven are first introduced and explains the concept of The Seven and creating the alternate dimensions. While this could possibly be read as a standalone, the Ulric storyline has been on-going since Vampire’s Faith and readers may feel a little lost without having the background from the previous books. While I’ve enjoyed all the books in this part of the series so far, this has become one of my favorites. With well-written characters and some suspense, fans of paranormal romances will enjoy this one.**I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC provided through NetGalley**

Hero's Haven is a gritty dark paranormal romance. There are few others as skilled at characterization as this author. How much fun to return to this series. Within this already built Dark Protectors world (this book is well into the series- #11), we get the return of a half vampire/half demon to our world who's been away so long all the modern changes are new, not that they slow him down. His life collides immediately with Haven, both of whom have met in dreams many times over the years. She's a woman who believed herself human, although she is most definitely not, despite some unusual issues that clearly point to otherworldly abilities. There's insta-bonding on his part and much to my delight quite a bit of reluctance on her part. Much more realistic than the insta-love thing which is written into the code of this world. This is a non-stop, action filled story with some super hot sexy times (when they finally give in to the heat). There were overtones of antiquated mentality toward women that the two of them had to work through. It's not an easy road but what a fun story.Great fun, fast read. I’ve pretty much been looking forward to Quade’s book ever since The Seven were introduced to the series. And he did not disappoint! And neither did Haven, both of them fought their mating till the bitter end but it was so very entertaining to watch them resist. The big fight is coming and you feel it in each book more then the last. This one was full of action and humour which I always love. And we got lots of time with some favourite characters from previous books. Really hoping we get more books focusing on the Fae, I find them really fascinating and think they have so many stories to tell. Excited for the next book! I can’t decide if I want Garrett or Benny more. Either way I know I’ll enjoy it! ARC Provided By NetGalley For An Honest Review

Love this series!! Cannot believe this is the 11th book in this series. Zanetti is an author that keeps me so glued to my kindle that I loose sleep because of her. Quade is a member of the Seven who has been abandoned in a realm filled with darkness and torture! Haven is an artist that visits him and draws this DARK world. Together they race toward answers and romance. "A copy of this book was provided by Lyrical Press via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest Love this series!! Just WOW! Love this series so very much and each book is just as good as the last and getting better.I get so invested in these characters and every book you grow to love or hate them (in Ulric's case) even more than before. This book is beyond sweet and the story of Quade and Haven are painful and beautiful all at once.I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The next dose of sexy hot vampire has arrived! The Dark Protectors saga is faithfully perpetuated by its creator in book 11. Hero’s Haven had so much danger, action, and romance that I finished it in less than 24 hours! To recap, Quade Kayrs is a vampire-demon member of The Seven who has been trapped in an alternate world for a thousand years while he has been fighting to keep a powerful enemy, Ulric of the Kurjan Cyst, from returning to Earth. Due to catastrophic events in Book 7, the alternate worlds are collapsing and Quade is prepared to perish inside his otherworldly prison.Throughout his exile he has had visions of a beautiful, but curiously dressed, angel named Haven appear to him in his hell world. When Haven finally grabs his hand and tells him to “go!”, what has he got to lose? Landing back on Earth, Quade and Haven finally realize that the other is more than a recurrent dream and feel an instant attraction towards each other. There’s a lot at stake while they figure out important stuff: Haven’s nonhuman heritage, rejoining the rest of The Seven, evading the humans, Kurjans, and other enemies stalking them, and what to do about the Kayrs mating mark that appeared on Quade’s palm when he touched Haven. To complicate things, it has become dangerous for Haven to fall asleep because Ulric is trying to manipulate her in her dreamworld. This is all very exciting, which explains how quickly I needed to read it. Members of the Kayrs royal family are involved. Especially intriguing are the scenes with Hope Kayrs Kyllwood (The Lock, the Prophet, demon crown princess, vampire princess, secret friend to a Kurjan leader’s son, dreamworld navigator, and all-around adorable seven year old schemer). I really loved all of it!There is one small caveat, which is due to my history as a Zanetti fan who has read all of her Dark Protector books multiple times. Since Quade and Haven were introduced in earlier books I was really looking forward to Hero’s Haven with high expectations. Quade and Haven reminded me of my favourite couple, Jase and Brenna in Shadowed, a hero tortured for ten years and the little witch who had a childhood crush on him. Well, Quade has been tortured for MILLENNIA and Haven has been mysteriously painting him from her dreams. So, I was ready for a collision of unbridled desire! But then one was “I must honour my vow, I must sacrifice my life” and the other was “I won’t belong to anyone, I don’t do forever” and it seemed like I myself, the reader, was the only one with the angsty need for them get on with the mating. Such orchestrated frustration! Argh, you got me Rebecca Zanetti! Got me hooked!(This is my sincere and voluntary review of a publisher provided ARC via NetGalley.)

I’ve read many (if not all) of Rebecca Zanetti’s earlier PNR works, starting with Fated and ending with Marked (including all of the novellas in between). See!!! Unfortunately, I’m not up to date on her new spin off since “The Great War” and prophecy conclusion in Marked. So it will come as little surprise that I had to take a second to understand all of the connections between the characters in this time period and the preexisting one. However, this did not take away my enjoyment of Hero’s Haven. R.Z. did a great job providing some background for all of the different characters I would have become acquainted with in previous books, without bogging down the story. Having said that, I am even more anxious to greedily get my hands on all the books leading up to this one for it would have only enhanced my 5 STAR⭐️ enjoyment. Onto the book. I truly enjoyed Quade and Haven’s story. Their book made me relearn why I fell in love with R.Z.'s writing to begin with. The sexual tension and deadly action are expertly executed by Zanetti’s well thought out and multidimensional characters. Quade is your typical big, strong, handsome yet tormented hero but with a twist! His adaptability and transition into Haven’s world was fun to read, and kept a perpetual smile on my face. His alpha personality and possessiveness will make any reader female swoon. Haven was the perfect MATE to Quade’s SOUL. While she may not have been raised in the arts of fighting and self defense, her street smarts were uniquely her own. And her right brain dominant character was refreshing to explore. She may have started out as a scrappy little nobody, but HER ROLE in this new immortal world she finds herself in is VITAL. Her abilities are unique and her ancestry was new to me in this series, and it was fun seeing R.Z. expand and grow this wonderful world she’s created. When it comes to sexy romantic vampires, R.Z. does it best!If you’re looking for an imaginative world, with numerous unique characters, and an enticing romance, the Dark Proctors series is where you need to look. ***Special thanks to NetGalley, Kensington Books, and Rebecca Zanetti for sharing this ARC COPY with me in exchange for my honest review***Overall Rating → 5 “Hello, mate.” STARSPrice is Right? → (view spoiler)[ Kindle version $8.49 RN on Amazon for Pre-Order. I see Rebecca Zanetti's name everywhere, and it's all positive stuff like how amazing her books are and how everyone should read them. So when I saw this book up for review, I knew I had to read it to see what all the fuss is about! Of course, everyone was proven right - this book was so good! I loved the characters, the drama of the plot, and the romance that was hot, hot, HOT. It proved to me that this is a series I need to start reading, preferably from Book 1 since this is the 11th book in I see Rebecca Zanetti's name everywhere, and it's all positive stuff like how amazing her books are and how everyone should read them. It proved to me that this is a series I need to start reading, preferably from Book 1 since this is the 11th book in the series. I'm just a bit behind.Haven Daly has grown up thinking she's crazy. Abandoned at birth, she has grown up not knowing who she is, raised by religious zealots until she ran away when she was 14. Constantly hunted, she is not a forever kind of girl, nor is she looking for anything permanent. She just wants to create art, stay on her meds, and live in peace. That was the plan...until the man she thought she made up in her head is suddenly real, right in front of her, and ready to claim her as his own. Quade Kayrs didn't expect to meet his mate now. His future is short-term, meant to save the world and not to find love. But meeting Haven has changed everything, and now he must try to save not just the world but his woman as well.Quade is the alpha male of your dreams. Yep, I said it. A sexy man who respects women while also wanting to protect them, puts his mate's life ahead of his own, and stands for what is right rather than what is easy. I loved him as the hero of this book! He was exactly what Haven needed. While I liked Haven and definitely felt for her, considering her traumatic past, she needed to have someone beside her to give her an option besides her impulse. On her own for so long, she was used to being on her own and relying on no one. Quade had to remind her constantly that her world had changed and she needed to listen to him and trust in him. She had a few moments where I was shaking my head, thinking this is nearing a TSTL moment. She had never been in a fight, never trained for war, and yet she thought she could fight alongside Quade, an ancient vampire-demon warrior? Okay. In the real world, she would have needed saving a lot. However, she definitely held her own when it came down to the wire, and she saved herself on a number of occasions. Both of them needed each other, and at the end of the day, they saw the value in working as a team. Couple goals.I will be heading off to read the rest of the series now. Eagerly awaiting whatever comes next from this author!**I received a free copy via NetGalley and this is my honest review.**

Hero's Haven happens to be my first read of Zanetti's work. I took a giant leap into the Dark Protectors series and still found myself well acquainted with the characters. The history of each of the characters is revisited so that I didn't find my self lost. Considering that this is the eleventh book, I was hesitant to dive in. I am thankful that the author took the time to reflect on past events that are missed by not reading the former books. Considering that this is the eleventh book, I was hesitant to dive in. I am thankful that the author took the time to reflect on past events that are missed by not reading the former books. This is a beautiful creation of a universe where worlds collide, and many different species coincide with one another. We are introduced to vampires, demons, fae, shifters and hybrids throughout the story. All of which play an important part in the premonitions of our heroine, Haven. Her unique blend of species raises questions within the realm of the paranormal and mark her as evil in the eyes of her adoptive human parents. Making her a target for all to chase. One lasting ability that lies within Haven, is the power to transfer through portals in her unconscious state. A power which was stripped away with the return of our hero Quade. The fight to bring back the main villain, Ulric, to Earth's dimension starts an ongoing battle.Haven's character is independent, strong-minded, and defiant towards Quade. His over protectiveness makes it, at times, unbearable for her. Because of his time away, Quade has no knowledge of modern technology and the man is quite the traditionalist when it comes to mating. There's no if, and, or but once that decision is made...but the romance is heavy once you get halfway through the book.I was constantly entertained by all the non-stop action that takes place. One thing happens right after the other and there's not much room for breaks in-between. I didn't feel the connection between Quade and Haven for a while, and that's the only reason why I didn't give this book a 5 star rating. I will however start back at the beginning of the series to catch up on everything I've missed. This book was very enjoyable and pleasing!***ARC provided by NetGalley per my request***

Hero’s Haven is another fast-paced, breathtaking installment in this author’s Dark Protector series. This paranormal romance is a wild ride full of action and suspense and I absolutely loved both Haven and Quade. The horrors that this demon-vampire hybrid has endured is shocking. Haven is a very talented artist who paints her visions and has visited Quade in her dreams. When Quade’s world implodes and he is forced back on Earth, the poor girl believes she’s hallucinating when she finally meets him face-to-face! Quade’s character is rather endearing. He is the usual demanding, protective male that we all know and love from this author’s works, but he is also hilarious when it comes to all of his idiosyncrasies as he acclimates to being a part of the modern world. I liked Haven as a heroine as she is wildly independent, a survivor of a crazy past, and refuses to put up with Quade’s overbearing nonsense. Their connection is palpable, but being together isn't easy as there are many forces throwing obstacles in their way.I feel like in this book, compared to the previous one, that the underlying story progressed more. We see more of the cyst and the Seven, view a bit more from Hope’s POV, and discover more about the other dimensions/dream worlds. It was fun to get reacquainted with some the members of the Realm and the Seven from the previous books. I suppose, in theory, that Hero’s Haven could be read as a standalone as it is the story of Quade and Haven, but given the interconnecting characters and the overall underlying series plot, I do recommend starting with this series earlier books. I can't get enough of Rebecca's paranormal world. This is Quade's story, the last of the 7 guarding the evil Cyst Ulric in the dimensional prison bubble created to secure him. The bubbles are collapsing and Quade was about to die with his bubble collapsing. He's been visited by Haven for years when she dreamwalks and travels to see him. She comes at the last minute and rescues him bringing him back to earth. Haven Daly doesn't know she's half demon, half fae. She was abandoned as a baby and I can't get enough of Rebecca's paranormal world. She comes at the last minute and rescues him bringing him back to earth. Haven Daly doesn't know she's half demon, half fae. She was abandoned as a baby and raised human unknowing of her heritage. A fundamental pastor and his wife adopted her and realize early on she's different. Her pastor father tries to exorcise the demon from her over and over again until she escapes. By 16 she's on her own forever medicating hoping it helps her to be normal and following the compulsions that rule her life. She finds drawing and painting her visions helps her cope. While in Portland OR she has a studio that sells her art that brings her money to live on. Her art is how she's come to the attention of the 7 and Realm world. Haven is compelled to drive to the exact spot Quade has landed from escaping the bubble and rescues him once again. This begins an action packed story of helping Quade find his brothers and Haven learning who she really is and why. Quade knows because his mating mark has appeared that Haven is his but it takes a while for them both to accept a life together. Quade had always assumed he'd give his life in ultimately killing Ulric. He's been gone so long he's surprised to find his fellow 7 brothers mated and how much the world has changed. The most amazing thing to me as I've come into this series in the middle is that Quade is the Great Uncle to the King of the Realm, Dage and that fellow 7 brother Garrett Kayrs is his great-great nephew! This story advances many threads in this series and we see the big clash with Ulric coming sooner.I voluntarily read and reviewed advanced readers copy of this book. It’s been a while since I’ve read a Dark Protector book, and I’d forgotten how much I liked the world with all of its magical beings. What was especially nice was that I didn’t feel lost having skipped several books before picking up Hero’s Haven. She was spunky and feisty and even though this was a new and somewhat crazy world, she did her best to embrace the new, instead of checking herself into a mental health ward like you’d expect. She also didn’t take being bossed around—not from the bad guys, not from psychotic, obsessed shifters or the love interest. She tried to do what was right and despite a crappy childhood, she had a really good heart. As for Quade. Well, at times, I wanted to slap him. I hate the male dominance trick in the bedroom. That’s not how you get a woman to listen to you and I really, really hate it when authors use it in books. But hey, I know some people love that stuff. So, to each their own. When Quade wasn’t being a macho jerk, he was cute. Loved his obsession with eating toothpaste because it tasted too good not to eat it. Loved how he tried to understand this new time and world and his love of his brothers and oath, as well as his weakness for Haven.Great supporting cast. Lots of fun moments mixed in with the fast-paced action. Super sexy. Prepare to have some emotional punches especially when it comes to Haven’s backstory. As with all of Zanetti’s series, whether it’s paranormal or romantic suspense, this story was well written and pulls you in from the first page and holds your attention to the last.

But you aren't left feeling that the book isn't a complete story itself and as a standalone, these all work fine.Hero's Haven deals with Quade and Haven. Haven has grown up thinking that she's mad. The family that adopted her have abused her in an attempt to change who she is. What she didn't know is that she is a fae demon hybrid. She has been visiting Quade for years in her dreams, not realising that he has existed in another dimension and not simply been part of her imagination. Now that they finally meet for real, she struggles to trust him and to believe that there can be anything between them.I loved Quade, in some ways he seems like an overgrown kid. He's been exiled for centuries away from the earth, so much is foreign to him. He even keeps eating toothpaste because he likes the sweet minty flavour. He's full-on and overbearing, but this type of hero often is. I'm not sure I'd want to cope with someone like that in real life, but he's fun to read about in a book. I'm not sure where to next for this series, but I'm looking forward to reading more and finding out.I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley.
