An unexpected down to earth finale, along with heavy plot and one of the most weird and unique issues you'll ever read.

*Read as single issues*Grand finale...sad to see it end...but it was handled well and gave me the closure that I wanted. Its almost as if the series ended with a satisfied sigh rather than a big bang. Which I am okay with. Thanks for the adventure, Paper Girls!

This is one of the most satisfying and beautifully orchestrated endings to a long-form comic that I have read. One can easily imagine that Paper Girls’ story of lasting friendship, the perils of nostalgia, and the compromises of adulthood is as much about the team of four adult men who created this comic as it is about the four 12-year-old girls who are its subject. These people (whether the comic’s creators or the paper girls) briefly came together to make something beautiful happen, only then to move on with their lives and onto new experiences that may or may not include the rest of the squad. It’s as bittersweet for the eponymous paper girls as much as it must also be for the adult men who have given the girls a voice in the pages of this comic. The full 6-volume (or 30-issue) series has its ups and downs for sure, but, wow, does it end well. The final three issues are especially powerful. I’m sad for it to end, but I’m happy it ended brilliantly.(Read in single issues)

Un final bastante apropiado para esta serie, me quedo con cada una de las protagonistas, sin duda unos personajes fascinantes.

(NB: I read the individual issues that will be compiled into Vol. 6)I still have so many questions! I definitely want to go back and read the entire series. I probably need to create some Visio diagrams and spreadsheets to keep track of everything when I do, so I can really understand what mysteries were resolved and how. My off-the-cuff impression is that things were mostly wrapped up, but not always in a completely satisfying way.I waited so eagerly for Issue #30 to come out, it probably couldn't live up to my expectations no matter what. And in addition, it tied up the girls' story in a quiet, thoughtful way - most of the timey-wimey tears in the dimensions, zappy battles, and big revelations were already resolved earlier. That said, I felt the quiet, thoughtful resolution was handled very nicely! And I can't say how much I appreciate a series (comic or otherwise) that maps its story out and sticks to the plan, rather than desperately iterating plotlines to cash in until it collapses and fizzles out. This was a coherent narrative arc, artistically and meticulously drawn. I can't wait to see the Amazon adaptation!!! I highly recommend the series to anyone, and especially to Gen X ladies who had tall bangs in 1988! :)

FINAL RATING FOR THE COMPLETE PAPER GIRLS: 3.5/5The final story arc of Paper Girls was a really emotional swansong. I enjoyed it a lot. Based off of the penultimate issue (#29), I wasn't sure how they could possibly wrap everything up in a satisfying way, but they did. Which made me really happy since Paper Girls's only real flaw is that 90% of it is way too rushed. I'm adamant that if each 5-issue "season" were just two issues longer, the series would've been damn near perfect.

Individual issues read for review.I honestly should probably re-read the series to give a proper assessment but like most BKV stories, he sticks the landing even if the landing will be controversial. It hit all the emotional notes and I think it makes a bold statement on adolescence and growing up but I also don't want to say too much and give away the ending.Gorgeous art, thrilling conclusion and of course, all the feels. The series was wonderful and so too was this final volume.

Shit gets cray in expected, grand fashion, feels are felt, and the girls get a supersweet sendoff that shows how good Vaughan is at final issues of long runs. No two are alike. Great work all 'round from the team. 4 years went by like *that*.

Volume 5 really had me worried because it seemed like nothing was happening but it really picked up in the end and it was such a cute ending.

Figuring out the formula for nostalgia and shooting it into your veins kind of feels like it defeats the purpose and magic of the thing.

Thank you for everything, my dear paper girls.
