Wolf Gone Wild (Stay A Spell, #1)
What's the worst thing that can happen to a werewolf? Unable to shift for three months, Mateo Cruz knows all too well. His wolf has taken up residence in his head, taunting him night and day with vividly violent and carnal thoughts. Convinced he's cursed, he needs the help of a powerful witch before he literally goes insane.Evie Savoie has always obeyed the house rules of her coven--no werewolves. They're known for being moody and volatile. So, when a distempered, dangerous werewolf strolls into the bar and almost strangles one of her late-night customers, she's ready to bounce him through the door. But the desperation in his eyes when he begs her to help him softens her heart and convinces her to bend the rules. What Evie doesn't know is that Mateo's wolf has a mind of his own. And now that she's in his sights, he wants only one thing. Her.

The Big Bad Wolf is Hot!!Werewolfs, witches ,vampires and a zombie cat oh! My!!!!Another fabulous read from Juliette cross and it's a twisty, snarky and full of awesome one liners with hot sexy paranormal male characters from Mateo who's a werewolf who's had a hex put on him so he can't shift to his wolf and is being drove crazy by Alpha his wolf spirt and all alpha cares about is fucking and fighting and of course he won't shut up for one moment!! Until Mateo goes to see evie a witch who breaks The Big Bad Wolf is Hot!!Werewolfs, witches ,vampires and a zombie cat oh! Until Mateo goes to see evie a witch who breaks hex's! Mateo and evie along with her sisters have tried to help him break the curse but some very powerful witch has cast a blood spell !! It will take not only evie and her witch sisters, and a powerful vampire to find a book to break this curse and they don't even now who the witch is. This book had all juliette's trade Mark's from amazing writing to a great storyline to steamy lovemaking and hot sensuality!! It's set in New Orleans were their are many paranormal creatures and you never know what or who you might come across. The build between evie and Mateo is slow at first because Mateo is a loner like most wolf's he likes his own company. He doesn't get to close to any women for fear that they'll start asking questions on why he takes off for days on end,it's just easier this way, And ever since evie's break up with Derek the douche bag evie hasn't been with any other guys. Their becoming best friends and she's teaching him all about star wars and wolverine and comics, and their growing closer. Mateo wants evie but he's afraid of alpha taking over and him not being able to control him,but the fires building and soon neither will have a choice!!! And when alpha starts the ball in motion mateo can't control the beast any longer and the need to claim to his sweet little witch is now!! the time is well past stolen kisses and caresses its time to make her his!!!Lots of foreplay and off the charts chemistry !!!! And the characters are awesome as well I loved both evie and Mateo she was sweet and sexy girl who loves starwars, wolverine and comics and Mateo is a artist who makes mythical metal sculptures . And then theirs secondary characters like evie's sister jule, violet and Clara who all have special talents who just as intriguing and then theirs a sexy gorgeous vampire Ruben Dubois who is the head of the southern vampires,he's so sexy!!! Can't wait for more of him!!! I highly recommend this book if you like a entertaining funny sexy read with fabulous one liners and plenty of snark to go around with passion and a sexy werewolve who's wolf spirt Alpha is a delicious dirty bad boy who just can't keep his thoughts to himself. Until next time luv's.💋💞

Wolf Gone Wild is book one in a brand new series by Juliette Cross, Stay A Spell. In this series you are going to meet the Savoie sisters, a group of sisters that just happen to be witches who live in New Orleans. Evie Savoie is a very talented and powerful witch. She spends her days helping out at the bar/restaurant her oldest sister, Jules owns, The Cauldron, and also at the shop her sister Clara owns, Mystic Maybelle’s. Evie was known as a hex breaker. She has a specific talent and has never met a hex she couldn’t conquer. As a rule, witches avoided werewolves. They were temperamental and unpredictable. Not to mention the whole blood lust thing that happened when they shifted. So you can say she wasn’t thrilled when a werewolf came walking into the bar late one evening when she was already exhausted. This is the last thing she wanted to deal with.Mateo Cruz has always had complete control over his wolf except during his shift. But something is blocking Mateo from being able to shift. He thinks that somehow a hex has been put on him. It’s been three months. His inner wolf has taken to talking to him, a constant voice in his head. He won’t stop talking. Mateo has never met any of the Savoie sisters but had heard of Evie’s ability to break hexes. So he sought her out at The Cauldron. What he hadn’t expected was that as soon as he was near her, his wolf quieted. “Man and beast needed to be near her, and there was nothing in the wide world I could do to deny it. Her proximity was all I needed.” Evie and her sisters need to figure out just what is keeping Mateo’s wolf locked inside him. Who put a hex on him and why? Mateo wants Evie to spend time with him to calm his wolf. As these two spend time together, they form a bond, a friendship of sorts but more. “For the first time, I wasn’t content by myself. I yearned for her.” These two were so adorable. Evie was so full of life but lacked confidence in herself. Something Mateo helped her with. And Evie brought out a side to Mateo he didn’t even know was there, a romantic side, a more fun loving side, even a sappy side because he had fallen hard for her. His adoration gave me butterflies. I didn’t expect so much humor in this. Mateo’s wolf was hilarious at times. The running monologue drove Mateo crazy. Evie was so full of life, so exuberant. She was so good for Mateo. Werewolves were solitary by nature but she drew him out. Feelings grew fast and deep but they had to figure out how to free Mateo’s wolf first. After that would he be finished with Evie? Or could they be more? I enjoyed this so much. I loved these sisters. I’m thinking the future books will be about each sister. I’m not sure but if that’s the case, I have my hopes on who will be next. Juliette Cross never fails to amaze me and that’s just what she did with this new series. It’s so different than any of her others and I can’t wait for you to meet Evie and Mateo. I hope you love them just as I did.For more about this book and so many more, come and visit me at Carol's Crazy Bookish World.https://www.facebook.com/groups/Carol...

This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. Wolf Gone Wild is a new series from Juliette Cross. I’ve read a few of her other series and this one is a bit of a shift in tone and direction. It is much more on the romantic side of PNR and it’s a lot lighter, with more humor and pop culture references than the other series I’ve read by her. “Wait a minute. You watched it once? So you’ve seen one Star Wars movie? And that’s it?” He shrugged a shoulder. “Not really into science fiction movies. Or movies in general, for that matter.” “I can’t even believe what I’m hearing,” I muttered more to myself than to him. It was like Chewbacca speaking Klingon. Does. Not. Compute. Okay. Don’t freak out on him. Meet Evie our Star Wars and comic loving heroine, who also comes from a crazy little family of witches. I mean crazy in the best shenanigans kind of way. Her oldest sister, Jules, is the power force behind the magic scene in New Orleans with all of her other sisters including herself leading some kind of support role too that. Jules has always said "stay away from Werewolves they are nothing but trouble" and she is probably right because Mateo is T R O U B L E. Well actually he is in trouble and only Evie and her family might be able to help him. She took out her wand— yes, you heard me— handcrafted according to her Pottermore-assigned wand as 14.5 inches long, made of vine wood with unicorn hair core. I’d asked her what her craftsman had used instead of unicorn hair, because unicorns weren’t real. She’d just laughed at me like I was silly and naïve. So I left it alone. Mateo has been cursed. He used to have a good balance with the wolf inside of him and they each got body time and didn't really bother the other. But due to the curse not letting him shift Alpha is the voice in his head that just won't shut up and is really only interested in eating, fighting and banging. Not specifically in that order. He needs Evie to help him break this curse since he is starting to feel like the wolf is going to take over and no one in the city needs that to happen. This is a cute love story with a good introduction to the world and some of the characters in it. Evie is pretty adorable and loved her geeked out love of all things comic book related and the pop culture references that brought out in the story. Her connection to Mateo is cute and I really enjoyed reading their love story. Alpha is the comic relief and it was fun watching him and Mateo try and find a balance sharing the same body in the same space and time. This series seems like all the books will be romance based and you can read them as stand alone novels. I liked how the magic was presented in the book and look forward to seeing what other kinds of creatures the series has in story for us. Evie and Mateo's story was witty, flirty and fun. I'm interested in seeing how the rest of the sisters do and who their matches will be.

4.5 stars 20/1/20I don't know what it is about werewolves that draws me in. They are like catnip to me! I can't resist them. Out of all the shifter books I've read (dragon, shark, panther, crocodile, bunny, etc) I still come back to wolves. They'll be my number one always I think. Add witches and New Orleans and this book made my favourites list before I even read it. Luckily for me it was just as good as I needed it to be. Add witches and New Orleans and this book made my favourites list before I even read it. Luckily for me it was just as good as I needed it to be. I love it when authors put their own stamp on classic supernatural beings and Juliette Cross certainly did that here. Mateo Cruz has reached his breaking point. Unable to shift for three months and constantly being beleaguered by his wolf, has pushed him to the limit. In desperation he seeks the witches help. Known for their coven rule of no werewolves he risks their wrath but at this point he feels he has no other choice. Evie Savoie almost throws Mateo out of her family's bar when she realises he's truly suffering after he briefly loses control of the wolf. She decides to bend the rules and take him to her sisters. Mateo and the witches suspect that someone has hexed him and Evie as a hex breaker witch agrees to help him break it. Unfortunately for them it's not as simple as it sounds. By far the most delightful part of the book is the irreverent commentary by Alpha, Mateo's wolf. He was truly an Alpha and I loved him! Mateo is a laid back lone wolf more focused in creating his art than anything else. In contrast Alpha wants to kill, maim or beat up everything that moves and establish his dominance. I was a sucker for Alpha! I liked Mateo, he was a fabulous guy but his inner wolf stole my heart and revved up my libido! This was a majorly fun book for me. Reading about the werewolf lore, the witches magic and meeting various side characters I'm sure will get their own books, was so entertaining for me. No angst, no misunderstandings, no "I don't deserve you" whining, just a lovely straightforward slow burn with a decent suspense element. I know some of you need the angst and the drama but not me. I love a good amusing book without all the unnecessary shock value twists (side eye at you Scarlett Dawn, Susan Fanetti and C.L.Wilson). If you love angst-free paranormal romance with werewolves and witches, give it a try.P.S. Contains Star Wars spoilers. As well as Deadpool and Wolverine geek outs. 14/12/19It comes out on my birthday!!

Mateo was gentle and caring but far too soft for my taste ,so yeah, I much prefer his wolf Alpha.I also liked Ruben and the sisters, I think they will be awesome in their own books and I already matched them up with whom I think they will be 😁*What disappointed me:*Well, I was expecting way more intensity and that WOW feeling that I had when reading other books of JC ,This was more like a paranormal rom-com with a splash of sexy. Was sooo slow burn that I was wondering if its actually a YA book . Thank God we had Alpha and his dirty thoughts to keep this in the NA area.I wanted a real plot, some angst and twist and turns but it felt just decent and meh.Overall this could be a big win for others I m sure of that, it just wasn't quite enough for me, especially because I know JC can write brilliant intense heartwarming stories.!! For fans of Star Wars ,this is full of spoilers so read at your own cost if you haven't seen the movies.🤣🤣🤣

How can I provide you with sufficient information to tempt you into taking the plunge, without giving too much of this story's SENSATIONAL goodness away? Juliette Cross will always be one of my favorite authors and this book only further cemented that fact! There's an insanely sexy werewolf named Mateo. I mean, this man is freaking SEX-SAY!🐾 He's a metalwork artist, owns his own gallery, and the author created him with such perfection that I was left swooning and silly all over the place. Every scene left me with a goofy smile on my face and I was in absolute heaven with this man!!🐾 He's been cursed, he doesn't know who did it, and honestly it was hard to believe someone would do that to him because he was such an incredible man. Honest and kind, humble and talented, he was everything a girl could want and wish for in a fantastic hero. Then there's Evie, a witch, a hex breaker, and generally impressive person🐾She was a heroine after my own heart. She was a geek when it came to all things Marvel (like me), she was obsessed with Star Wars (like me) ... to be real, if I had even a modicum of artistic talent (like my kids), I'd totally see myself in her. As it was, she was AWESOME! She was full of pure and positive energy, she was sweet and smart, and she was breathtaking.🐾While working to help Mateo unleash his wolf, she befriends him and quickly learns that remaining friends isn't what she truly wants. How can she possibly resist his stunning temptation?Seriously, if you love romance... if you love great characters... if you love all things paranormal... if you love to laugh and swoon and grin like a loon... you will most definitely LOOOOOVE this book!!

I see a lot of potential within this world, its rules and its characters. It will be interesting to see if Juliette Cross will continue to explore this universe.

Wolf Gone Wild is book one in Stay A Spell series by Juliette Cross. This is a brand new series by Ms. Cross and it’s different from her previous work in that it’s more light-hearted and fun. Not as intense or deep as her previous work. Evie Savoie is a talented curse/hex breaker. She works at her sisters bar/restaurant and also her other sisters book shop. She’s a well rounded women who is full of life, but also has some insecurity’s about her art work; which her ex-boyfriend put into her head. I had fun meeting the Savoie sisters and look forward to more. As for Mateo and Evie their romance was a slow build. Evie has always been told to stay away from werewolves and Mateo has this issue with shifting, so both are hesitant at first. We slowly see them moving out of their comfort zones and as they spend time together, they form a bond, a friendship which becomes more. The romance was just sweet. Wolf Gone Wild was an enjoyable and light-hearted read. I really enjoyed the monologue of Alpha and how he drove Cruz a little crazy with his thoughts. It add humor and a few laughs. As to why Cruz can’t shift, well that mystery surprised me. I never guessed who it was and when it was reviled; I was like really. I had no indication it was that person, so the author did a wonderful job hiding who the bad guy is.  Wolf Gone Wild is a fun, light-hearted, cute, and magical read. Juliette Cross has always been a fan favorite of mine when it comes to kick ass heroines who really knows how to pack a punch and worse than sin lead heroes who are nonetheless pantying dropping hot. So obviously when she released "Wolf Gone Wild", I couldn't wait to get my grubby little hands on it to further immerse myself in the supernatural world she was able to create filled with witches, werewolves and vampires. If you haven't already know, the story starts off with Mateo seeking out Juliette Cross has always been a fan favorite of mine when it comes to kick ass heroines who really knows how to pack a punch and worse than sin lead heroes who are nonetheless pantying dropping hot. So obviously when she released "Wolf Gone Wild", I couldn't wait to get my grubby little hands on it to further immerse myself in the supernatural world she was able to create filled with witches, werewolves and vampires. If you haven't already know, the story starts off with Mateo seeking out the infamous witch Evie, pleading with her to help him get rid of a hex that prevents him shifting from man to wolf. The novel then transitions to the generic format of a whirlwind romance filled with fine ass sexual tension, oozing chemistry and a dynamic duo that you can't help but root for. After completing the novel, it took me a bit of time to access then process the read and eureka! I was finally able to sum it all up into one simple word: decent. Yes, just decent people. What more can I say? There was absolutely no wow factor but, a big but there. I didn't completely hate it. Please don't kill me JC, I felt like this was a big fat, "it's not you, it's me" type of read for the reason it's really just me I swear because I can totally see how this could be a win for most readers. In my opinion, it could've been better and I'm downright shocked that I didn't absolutely love this since I typically do with anything the author spits out. I just couldn't form a real connection with storyline nor characters despite liking less than a handful of them.Besides the semi mediocre plot, I will admit one of the plus sides of the read was the dashing lead Mateo and his hilarious and let's be real, down right dirty inner wolf, Alpha. Hey I like a man that knows what he wants *wink wink*. But…. And yes there's another but being thrown in, I wasn't exactly a mega fan of Evie. Eh, I could've done without her to be honest and would have more than happy to have the focus primarily on Mateo and Alpha. Sure she was optimistic, good at heart, willing to help anyone in need and holds other good attributes― a part of me kinda sorta hope she be more… mature so to speak. I don't know but I'm guessing it's maybe because I was so spoiled by the previous heroines that were so badass in the author's other works that this heroine just fell short for me. Nevertheless, me not liking her entirely didn't ruin my reading experience and I hope the next installment would be more up my alley. So without further ado, this was still a fairly enjoyable and decent read that I will recommend to readers that are fans of the supernatural genre who are looking for a side piece of scorching hot, panty dropping and hot tempered werewolves and relatable, down to earth witches that help keep them at bay. It's definitely a novel worth checking out.

Will I ever not like a Juliette Cross book? No, no I won't! Wolf Gone Wild was the perfect mixture of shifter glory, humor and sexiness. Yes, 'shifter glory' is a thing. Go with it! Evie and Mateo were absolutely adorable together. They had my heart from beginning to end.Evie is a quirky, geeky, and good hearted witch that can't say no to those who need. I loved all the wonderful geeky references Juliette added to the book. It doesn't matter if you are or are not a fan of comics and star wars Will I ever not like a Juliette Cross book? It doesn't matter if you are or are not a fan of comics and star wars and all the other things referenced in the book, you will love Evie's passion for it and be enthralled by it the same way Mateo was.Mateo suffered -due to his wolf- a serious case of split personality! Mateo is soft, kind, caring, loving, careful with his words... his wolf is brash and focused on only two things: fighting and sex. And upon meeting Evie, fighting and Evie. I loved how different he is from his wolf to start and how much the two of them become one as the story progressed. It was both sweet and funny. Wolf shifters are my ultimate favorite. So there is a chance I am a tad itty bitty bias. I also think Juliette Cross is an amazing human being, so that might maybe perhaps make me a little bias too... but hey, I will try to be fair. The book had one negative... sort of... kind of... I don't see it as a negative but a necessary evil... but fair is fair so here it goes: it was a tad slow and info dumping at times. I personally believe that is necessary when you start a new series, how else are the readers going to get acquainted with your new world?! But, yah... there were moments were I wanted the story to move along a little faster. And that is that. Juliette Cross never ceases to amaze me. She is a true master of her craft and I cannot wait to read what she comes up with next. A certain dark and quiet and hopefully moody-broody grimmer dating a rain of fu**ing sunshine would be interesting... I hope that is where she is going with it... *read that Juliette? hint-hint* hehe :) The other two couples that will hopefully also get their books are pretty obvious, and I already like them too. That vamp can have my number! Okay...I should stop now. You guys haven't read yet and have no idea what I am talking about now... In other words: when the book is out go fu**ing read so we can gash over it together!!!!!!!!!!!!!

‘Wolf Gone Wild’ has an insanely attractive blurb, I’ll admit. A man who’s going insane with a wolf that’s barely leashed stumbling into a bar/restaurant asking a witch for help, when these two paths shall never cross? It’s sort of forbidden in a way, but Evie Savoie isn’t going to turn away a man in need. Juliette Cross’s worldbuilding comes in early on: there’re long-lived supernatural beings littering the streets of New Orleans, each with their own coven, den or some other mysterious clan and the uneasy peace is kept by the Savoie witch Sisters, each with their own unique powers. But when a hex so strong is placed on Mateo Cruz, the witches find that they have to welcome a werewolf into their covern, despite what traditions dictate. I loved the starting few chapters, where Cross’s writing was tinged with humour as Mateo battled his inner wolf with some hilarious inner conversations, most of which dealt with trying to talk sense into a lusty, bloodthirsty wolf that was straining at the leash to break people’s limbs and be dirty with women. The very slow buildup was as much as it was foreplay as it was full of innuendo and suggestive winks; Mateo’s dirty inner wolf drove a lot of it but it did plateau after a while as this became status quo each time Mateo and Evie spent time together. This was however, also where the plot evened out after an upward climb, which went on for a while and I found myself trudging to the halfway mark before wondering if the progress between in Mateo’s case (aside from their heaving chests, salacious talk, etc) was going anywhere soon. The more interesting bits were the hints of future pairings as the story wore on, and I lapped those up more eagerly than I did of Mateo/Evie after the first half. Still, this was a fun read, with a heavy dose of Star Wars geekery tossed in and if you like your paranormal romances juggling the ominous and the light-hearted, this is the one to go for. *ARC by the publisher via Netgalley

When I say Juliette Cross never, absolutely never fails me, just trust me on this. Juliette has an uncanny ability to create such male character you cannot help but fall in love and curse your destiny as you simply cannot find anyone like them in real life. MATEO FRANCISCO CRUZ is delicious. In fact, he is one of my top three favorites males created by Juliette. I would totally marry Mateo, because his sweetness and downright sexiness makes your head spin and your heart swell.I loved the story and the relationship dynamic between all the characters. Evie was a great character and was complimenting Mateo's sweet nature wonderfully. Their relationship developed so beautifully, it left me breathless as I was feeling the feels. The story was set in New Orleans and has all that crazy paranormal vibes that usually comes with it. I literally cannot wait what else Juliette is going to deliver in this world because I am smelling more delicious stories coming to us about certain sisters and their hot men. I am utterly delighted and excited toward that prospect.I am immensely thankful to Juliette for kindly providing me this ARC. These were my crazy honest thoughts about this fun and light novel about wonderful witches and hot and swoony werewolves.

I think Juliette Cross will be my next favorite author! She can write about Angels and Demons, Vampires and Fairytales and now about Werewolfs and Witches. And the stories are all awesome! But Mateo knows that if he doesn't get some help, his violent Alpha will take over and start killing people. So he turns to the powerful Savoie sisters. They are the most powerful witches in the neighborhood. But the witches normally don't do business with werewolves. Evie doesn't know why her eldest sister Jules doesn't want them to be involved with werewolves. However, when she looks into Mateo's haunted eyes, she knows she has to help him break his hex.So, together they try to find out who has bind Mateo's wolf. And while doing so, the Alpha puts in his two cents every other sentence. And usually with some dirty comment (LOL). Evie's sisters: Clara, Violet and Jules are also trying to help. And while searching for the answer, we also get glimpses into the lives of the sisters. So, why is Violet acting all weird when Mateo's cousin Nico comes to help out Mateo? And what is this weird tension between Jules and Ruben the mighty vampire who helps them find the book of hexes. Find out for yourself if they are able to release Alpha. Fun, witty and loveable! Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the next story will be about Violet or Jules, because I really want to know what is happening there...

Wolf Gone Wild is the first book in a new fantasy series. Mateo Cruz is a werewolf, who is looking for someone to break a hex that permits him to shift. And that someone is powerful hex -breaking witch Evie Savoie. While Mateo is a loner wolf, Evie has a big family. She is one of six Savoie sisters. Each of them has special magic skills. Even though they are hesitant at first to help a werewolf, soon all sister present Evie, Jules, Violet and Clara ( two are traveling) are helping Mateo. In between all the mystery-solving, Mateo & Evie get to know each other. What I loved about this book were all these new and fun characters. I really enjoyed this lighthearted & steamy paranormal romance. The chemistry between Evie & Mateo is off the charts.... HOT!!! This is a book for you if you are looking for a fun & feelgood book!! Now, why this wasn't a perfect read for me is the way Mateo inner dialogue with his wolf went. This is something completely subjective. I needed to get used to the constant bickering between Mateo and his Alpha. It felt a lot of times like double personality disorder. And I can't say that I am a fan. I am definitely are looking forward to reading more about these characters. And already hinted couples are looking very promising. If you love to read a steamy romance with warlocks, witches, werewolves & vampires this a book for you!! Great start to a series... I’ve never read a werewolf romance, so I didn’t know what to expect, but this was SUPER fun. What's even crazier is that his inner wolf has taken residence in his head, always pushing him to act on his primal urges — violence and/or sex. It's getting harder and harder for Mateo to keep his inner wolf on a tight leash, so he decides to ask Evie Savoie, a hex-breaking witch, for help. Evie and her sisters don't deal with werewolves, but they're willing to make an exception for Mateo who is absolutely desperate for help. Evie and Mateo's story is a sweet, funny, and steamy friends to lovers romance. They are so freaking cute together. Evie's easygoing and quirky nature and Mateo's quiet intensity make them perfect for each other. Mateo was surprisingly a beta hero (a clueless one at that LOL)! But his inner wolf...well, his inner wolf is a dirty Alpha through and through. His internal commentaries were absolutely hilarious and the highlight of this book! I guess you could say that Mateo is a beta in the streets, but an alpha in sheets. The perfect combination, if you ask me. Evie and Mateo, along with Evie’s sisters, work together to find out who cursed Mateo, why, and how to break the curse so that Mateo is not overtaken by his inner wolf. This book has a completely different tone from Juliette Cross's Dominion series. Wolf Gone Wild does have its serious moments, but it's definitely more lighthearted in tone. And the characters are a lot quirkier, with snappy and hilarious dialogues. The bright and fun cover matches the tone and feel of the story perfectly! I love the setting of New Orleans where the story takes place. I just love the overall feeling and atmosphere of the book. It brought me back to the days when I used to be obsessed with Charmed and W.I.T.C.H. I am obsessed with the entire set of characters. We are given hints about potential future couples and I call dibs on a certain sexy ass vamp!! I am DYING for more of him. It's gonna be hard to wait for the rest of this series.

Mateo was a bit shy, uncertain, and adorably cute, while Alpha lived for only two things: blood and sex. Together they entertained the heck out of me. ’”I wanted to come by and sort of look at you, I mean, see you. My heart soared. “You just couldn’t live without me, could you?” You have no ----ing idea.’ Evie was a total geek when it came to sci-fi movies and comic books. The fact that Mateo didn’t have a clue what she was talking about opened up the door for lots of witty banter as she introduces him to pop culture. Add in the extreme chemistry between them and the intensity of Alpha’s desire and Evie was pretty much a goner.’Mateo was the key. Alpha was the welcome mat. And I was loving the [heck] out of walking through this door, pushing my werewolf over the edge. I wanted us to go together.’There isn’t a lot of dark drama that many of this author’s books have. Instead, this is lighter, flirtier, a bit whimsical. That isn’t to say there isn’t any drama or conflict. There is something seriously wrong going on, but rather than consuming the story it helps to push it along. Of course when it all comes to a head, there is nothing fun and flirty about it. I loved everything about this book, this hero and heroine as well as all the secondary characters. I hated having to set it aside when life demanded attention and at a less busy time I could have easily read this through in one sitting and then dug back in for a reread. It’s just that good! Any quotes I use are from an unpublished copy and may not reflect the finished product. The cover of Wolf Gone Wild is what initially drew my attention, but it was the characters that kept me turning the pages. I felt a connection with Evie, and was sympathetic towards Mateo. About halfway through, I just wanted to know who'd cursed Mateo and why (honestly this part was a little underwhelming). Additionally, Evie and Mateo were well into adulthood (he's in his 100's and she's in her 30's), but there was still something childlike about their personalities. Sometimes it was sweet and endearing, and other times it was eye-rolly and mushy.I did have a few issues with this one, and a big frustration was the book's backstory. The evil plot never thickened, and there was very little action and adventure. I would've liked seeing the two of them play detective together, instead of making googly eyes and having lusty thoughts. I wanted to know more about Mateo and where he came from (his family in particular), how the curse had impacted his day-to-day life in the months leading up to Evie, and what his plans for the future were.Evie is a girl after my own heart. She loves Star Wars, reads comics, and gushes about her love for Reylo and Wolverine. I could relate to this side of her, but her enthusiasm was a little over-the-top for me at times. It was like she was screaming, "Hey! Look at me! I'm into nerdy things!" I wish that aspect of her personality had been less of a focal point, since it kept us from really getting to know Evie as a person. Her character development felt stunted in some ways. The story itself was pleasant, but maybe a little too convenient. Evie and her sisters were presented with a problem (in the form of Mateo and his caged wolf), and that's what they focus on the entire book. Everything slowly clicked into place, and I didn't feel like the characters had to fight for their ending. It was almost too easy the way things worked out. I'm not saying being unable to shift was enjoyable for Mateo, but once Evie started hanging around (and sharing her skin-to-skin contact), Alpha was no longer a constant issue. He wasn't really all that threatening, to be honest. It was clear he wanted Evie from the start (lust at first sight), and he saw her as "theirs" long before Mateo acknowledged his feelings for her.Alpha's way was purely predatory and physical, but Evie didn't complain. If you're not into rough sex, or women being touched without their permission, this book might not be for you. Evie says she "understands" Alpha's needs and methods, but that doesn't make her body any less hers. She both likes and dislikes Alpha's aggressiveness, and mentally debates whether that's a good thing or not. A guy grabbing you without your permission, regardless of how or why they do it, is not okay. I know he's a werewolf, but that doesn't excuse his roaming hands or objectifying thoughts. "He wouldn’t stop yammering about her smell, her skin, her pretty ponytail that he’d like to grip while he took her from behind." (This is a very mild example.)Possessiveness is not adorable, and I hated that Evie let him get away with it because of what he was. She should have cared more about who he was. "'I don’t think your boyfriend would like that.' 'My boyfriend?' I glanced at JJ again, then tossed my head back and laughed. 'He’s not my boyfriend.' Mateo’s scowl softened only slightly as he glared toward the bar. 'I think he wants to be.' That was it. He was adorable. And all my anxiety vanished like morning mist."Then there's the language. It took some getting used to, but that might just be my age showing. People say "hella" now, right? Evie is in her 30's, but she spoke and acted like a hormonal teenager. "But…hot, melty, lickalicious sex with Mateo?" Her thoughts were often dirty when he was around, and ironically mimicked Alpha's desires. She thought her immediate attraction was ridiculous, and they both spent a large portion of the book believing their feelings were one-sided. Comments and gestures were often taken the wrong way, because they weren't communicating (ugh).Lastly, there are things that happen -- very important things -- that Evie chooses to keep to herself. If you're trying to break a curse, and something weird happens, please tell someone. "...and I wasn’t going to worry them for nothing." That's a big bookish pet peeve of mine. Don't try to do everything yourself! Talk to the other characters in the book!Overall, Wolf Gone Wild was a quick read that I found mostly entertaining. A few tweaks and I would have enjoyed it more, but that's me. I want women to be treated with respect and have hot sex. I also think this book would have benefited from having stronger secondary characters, and ones that played a larger role within the story. However, if you're looking for a rough and furry romance, this might be the book for you! 🐺😉Originally posted at Do You Dog-ear? on January 4, 2019.

Except Mateo cannot shift into his wolf form, which is causing his wolf Alpha to take over his mind, driving him crazy. Enter the Savoie sisters, one in particular Evie Savoie, a hex breaker. The Savoie Sisters are a group of powerful, well-knowned respected witches, and with their help, Mateo hopes to release what ever has a hold of him. My initial thoughts however, were rough. I felt quite rushed in the first few chapters, like it was missing some serious world building. The characters and the books entire dilemma were introduced rather quickly without a lot of explanation or development, it felt off. The introductory dialogue also read awkward at times. With that being said though, things fell into place quite quickly after that, the dialogue made more meaningful sense, the story developed more shape, and the characters grew stronger.I was wild about these characters. I was very drawn to Mateo, he is an easily likable guy. I expected a very ALPHA male with this type of read and Mateo I guess is naturally opposite of his wolf. He is focused and intense when it comes to himself and his work, but calm and supportive when it comes to Evie. Evie on the other hand is consistently his contrast. She's spunky and passionate, a fangirl with geeky tendencies, but proud of her quirkiness, she owns it. As a reader I appreciated the build-up of these characters, no insta-LOVE, insta-LUST yes, but they had a sweet friendship to work with first. They were completely ADORABLE, frustrating how obvious it was that they were into each other though, and the sexual tension was killing me. The first make-out session was scorching hot, so you can just imagine how steamy the sex scenes were! Serious one of the best few sex scenes I've read in while. There wasn't a whole lot of hex-breaking going on though for most of the book and the magic of the sisters was hinted at here and there, but in pieces. We only got a glimpse of what they each can do. However, once the magic did make an appearance it was pretty spectacular. The explanation of magic just resonated off of the page, it hummed and pulsed, it was quite impressive. Wolf Gone Wild is definitely a HOT little read, but it was also quite sweet as well. It's a brand new series, hinting often as to what sisters we shall adventure through love with next.
