Fae's Captive
My college roommate is the worst. Cecile steals my food, brings guys over at all hours, and parties instead of studying. But those quirks pale in comparison to what she does next. She drugs me, and I wake up imprisoned in an alternate universe full of terrifying creatures. Now, the biggest and scariest creature of all--a fae king--believes I'm his mate. He's freed me from the dungeon but keeps me close. So close, in fact, that I'm beginning to like his wintery gaze and ice-chiseled body. But secrets and villains lurk throughout this new world, and I don't know if I'll survive long enough to figure out how to get back home.Author's Note: Fae's Captive is the first book in a series that will set your imagination--and other parts of you--on fire. Mind the cliff, but book 2 is already out.

This one really appealed to me and though of novella length captured my imagination and attention almost instantly here. This is the story of Taylor and Leander: Taylor a human girl finds herself transported to the world of the fae taking the place of another changeling. Here she comes to the attention of Leander the Winter King who recognises her as his mate.So as I mentioned this was short and I do believe this and the second book would have been better served as one complete volume rather than This one really appealed to me and though of novella length captured my imagination and attention almost instantly here. This is the story of Taylor and Leander: Taylor a human girl finds herself transported to the world of the fae taking the place of another changeling. Here she comes to the attention of Leander the Winter King who recognises her as his mate.So as I mentioned this was short and I do believe this and the second book would have been better served as one complete volume rather than two novellas: still I really enjoyed this immensely and even though I don't often give the full five stars to such short reads this made enough of an impression on me that I just had to go with my gut here. This was actioned packed and also had some interesting secondary characters introduced here.I am starting the next instalment here immediately. You can currently borrow this and book two with your KU subscription if you have one.Reviewed By Beckie Bookwormhttps://www.facebook.com/beckiebookworm/www.beckiebookworm.com

When her roomie offers to pay Taylor more than she'd earn tutoring to be her designated driver to and from an Omega Nu house party, Taylor is suspicious but money is money. Any concern that her roomie might overindulge or get drugged is not the case when it's Taylor who gets drugged, waking up in a cage in somebody's basement though the snakelike body with a torso of a man jailer could just be a residual effect of the drugs. Time to wakee wakee Taylor.King Leander of the Winter Realm has come to the Summer Realm seeking an alliance to deal with the problem of fae disappearing in increased numbers. An apparent fool's errand as the majority of disappearances have occurred in the Winter Realm making it a low priority for Queen Aurentia who seems to be enjoy making him wait on her decision. Just when it appears a deal is imminent, Leander scents his fated mate, a changeling slave. To procure her he'll have to break off negotiations and probably kill off those who would keep her from him as she is a slave to one of the Queen's nobles. As is the case for any who are lucky enough to find their one fated mate, Leander needs to bond with Taylor to avoid the curse that would make him feral otherwise. Freeing her and escaping to his kingdom is first step as the actual bond between the two can wait until he has Taylor safely in his territory. Problems arise when it's apparent the mysterious entity responsible for the ever growing number of disappearing fae has set a plan in motion to kill Leander or his intended mate before they solidify their bond. Either will assure Leander is no longer able to stop the the king beyond the mountain's ultimate goal to rule all of the realms. * * * Interesting start to a three (?) part YA trilogy. A parallel alternate universe that is the home of fae and paranormal shifter entities. Those who live there are able, to a limited degree, to travel to our world and vice versa. The mystery-suspense story line does include a romance though, for those who are on a need to know basis, the romance itself if PG-13 rated imho. While I did appreciate and enjoy the overall world building and characters, the multiple open ended sub plots in the story drew my attention in too many directions. The major cliffhanger ending was further irritating which leads me to believe that this is a serial series, which I'm never a fan of. Taylor & Leander, c*ck blocked multiple times by their side kicks, had chemistry though I really would have liked to have seen more heat to back up the insta-love (on Leander's part) premise. Taylor had a backbone though her naïveté was irritating after a few chapters. Secondary characters. I would have liked this story more if it had featured Gareth & Lenetia (Beth) with their love/hate relationship. Selene was another character I wanted more of. For the purchase price, this book provided an enjoyable fantasy reading experience which I would have rated higher if there hadn't been a major cliffhanger that required me to purchase the follow up Road to Winter which is listed on Amazon as 94 page book for $2.99 (which also ends in a cliffhanger requiring purchase of Fae's Captive 3 listed at $2.99 for 100 pages). My suggestion, for those interested in reading this book, is to wait for the box set to grab the entire story or be frustrated with the cliffhangers as I am.

I love the characters and how the storyline is progressing. My only negative thing to say is that it was too short, but thank goodness book two is already out!Blog | Instagram | Twitter

I’m always up for a “new to me author” even if Paranormal isn’t my jam. That being said I LOVED the cute and quirkiness of this one! It had me hooked from the beginning. And I never got lost in this new world! Cecile is the best! She’s that one hot mess of a friend everyone has that causes the chaos but somehow manages to wind up unscathed. At least so far. Leander and Taylor have some great chemistry along with the other characters added in. And holy cliffhanger...

As this told in Taylor's and Leander's POV's we never know exactly why the trade was made, but the motive isn't important. What is important is the great manipulation of the trope of the Fae world. Ms, Archer does an excellent job of giving us a new version of the Fae. She remembers that the Fae have traditionally not been the warm and fuzzy creatures that sometimes populate fiction. Her Fae are close to war with each other and cruel to the human changelings that they keep. I liked how she introduces English so that we don't have sit through the endless teaching scenesLeander is a sexy uber Alpha. He exists to protect and command. Sure that he will never meet his mate, he pours all of that Alpha Protectiveness into protecting his kingdom, the Winter Kingdom. He wants peace, a truce. That is why he is at a boring dinner at the Summer Kingdom. He wants help fighting the King Beyond the Mountain and is willing to do what is needed to to achieve that. Until he find Taylor.Taylor has been traded to the Fae Realm by her evil and oh so annoying college roommate. She finds herself in the Summer Castles basement until a Summer Fae lord takes her as his slave. After Leander takes her from that lord, he is willing to do anything at all to keep his mate with him, even if she is a mortal human changeling.Great writing, great world and sexy as hell men!Readers be warned, this is only the opening salvo in a series and there is a cliffhanger that makes you look for the next portion!4 stars out of 5https://www.amazon.com/Faes-Captive-L...

I liked the beginning of Fae's Captive but by the end of the book; which was way too short, I felt there must be pages missing. It left you hanging high and dry. I feel it was the plan of the author to increase interest in the next edition, Fae's Captive Book 2.

This would have been rated a bit higher if it wasn't so short! Amazon says it's 100 pages, but I don't believe it's even that, wince I read it in 50 minutes. As a short story that end in a cliffhanger, or the first third if a book it had promise, but it's too early to tell beyond that!

After being drugged and waking up in a dungeon, nothing goes well for Taylor. She learns she is a slave and is mistreated by her master and to add to the never-ending list of horrible things, the winter realm king (Leander) claims she is his mate. Communicating with Leander is a mission until his trusty right hand man Gareth reveals he speaks the changeling language (English). Leander will do anything and everything to protect Taylor, and will even expose the delicate peace truce between the winter and summer realm to ensure Taylor's safety.Taylor must make tough decisions in order to make her way back home to the human world, but before even thinking of that she must make sure she survives the journey back to the winter realm, with Leander, Gareth and her new found friend Lenetia/Beth. When Leander's well being is at stake, it seems all Taylor cares about is Leander and making sure no harm comes to him. Only reason why I didn't give the 5 stars was because there was no mating scene!!!!!! Sure hope we get to see them mate in the next book. Cant wait to pry open the next book in the series!

My first issue is the lack of info on how Taylor got there. Not enough fleshing out on the realm and courts. There is a slight build up w Taylor and Leander but it feels as rushed as the story line. Too many things are mentioned that leave you with more questions than answers. On the flipside the secondary characters are actually a tad bit more interesting and have more spunk. I love Beth's tell it as it is attitude. Gareth's gallant attitude is so sweet and the contrast btwn how he treats Beth and Taylor make me wonder where things may lead.I expected more btwn Leander and Taylor. You can feel the beginnings of something budding and the sexual tension is there but it was just ok. Lily Archer does have an easy way of writing that captures you and gently coax you to keep reading just a bit more. The first book and her writing style have intrigued me enough to check out the next book in hopes of just a bit more.

3.5 stars as it was an entertaining read, however it just was too short for my liking. Sadly the next book is even shorter but I'm intrigued to know what will happen next. So maybe if at some point there will be a deal for the next book then I will get it, but at the moment I can say that price for first book was resenable but second one is just over priced for only 94 pages. Instead of being a trilogy there should be just one book because these are just like novellas but not actual novels. I was ABSOLUTELY not expecting this much action and adventure-but that’s what this book truly was. It was packed to the brim with surprising twists and turns and edge of your seat action. This is Book one in hopefully a very long series-because I’m so hooked and captivated by the Fae world- I’ve never read anything like it before. The creativity that this author poured into this book had me downright amazed! Leander knows his mate is Taylor-he can sense it. I’m already so invested!
