Fae's Captive (Fae's Captive, #1)
My college roommate is the worst. Cecile steals my food, brings guys over at all hours, and parties instead of studying. But those quirks pale in comparison to what she does next. She drugs me, and I wake up imprisoned in an alternate universe full of terrifying creatures. Now, the biggest and scariest creature of all - a fae king - believes I'm his mate. He's freed me from the dungeon, but, keeps me close. So close, in fact, that I'm beginning to like his wintery gaze and ice-chiselled body. But, secrets and villains lurk throughout this new world. And I don't know if I'll survive long enough to figure out how to get back home.

The writing was sooo cringey. "I dont belong here. I'm in college. I have classes. And exams. And bills to pay. And Friends reruns to watch. And a roommate to strangle." -our heroine about to be abducted.#relatable #shesjustlikeme The heroine was a huge dope and the writing was immature. Let's just say I that the only way I would have enjoyed this was if I was 14 years old. *sigh* Add this to the DNF pile.

When her roomie offers to pay Taylor more than she'd earn tutoring to be her designated driver to and from an Omega Nu house party, Taylor is suspicious but money is money. Any concern that her roomie might overindulge or get drugged is not the case when it's Taylor who gets drugged, waking up in a cage in somebody's basement though the snakelike body with a torso of a man jailer could just be a residual effect of the drugs. Time to wakee wakee Taylor.King Leander of the Winter Realm has come to the Summer Realm seeking an alliance to deal with the problem of fae disappearing in increased numbers. An apparent fool's errand as the majority of disappearances have occurred in the Winter Realm making it a low priority for Queen Aurentia who seems to be enjoy making him wait on her decision. Just when it appears a deal is imminent, Leander scents his fated mate, a changeling slave. To procure her he'll have to break off negotiations and probably kill off those who would keep her from him as she is a slave to one of the Queen's nobles. As is the case for any who are lucky enough to find their one fated mate, Leander needs to bond with Taylor to avoid the curse that would make him feral otherwise. Freeing her and escaping to his kingdom is first step as the actual bond between the two can wait until he has Taylor safely in his territory. Problems arise when it's apparent the mysterious entity responsible for the ever growing number of disappearing fae has set a plan in motion to kill Leander or his intended mate before they solidify their bond. Either will assure Leander is no longer able to stop the the king beyond the mountain's ultimate goal to rule all of the realms. * * * Interesting start to a three (?) part YA trilogy. A parallel alternate universe that is the home of fae and paranormal shifter entities. Those who live there are able, to a limited degree, to travel to our world and vice versa. The mystery-suspense story line does include a romance though, for those who are on a need to know basis, the romance itself if PG-13 rated imho. While I did appreciate and enjoy the overall world building and characters, the multiple open ended sub plots in the story drew my attention in too many directions. The major cliffhanger ending was further irritating which leads me to believe that this is a serial series, which I'm never a fan of. Taylor & Leander, c*ck blocked multiple times by their side kicks, had chemistry though I really would have liked to have seen more heat to back up the insta-love (on Leander's part) premise. Taylor had a backbone though her naïveté was irritating after a few chapters. Secondary characters. I would have liked this story more if it had featured Gareth & Lenetia (Beth) with their love/hate relationship. Selene was another character I wanted more of. For the purchase price, this book provided an enjoyable fantasy reading experience which I would have rated higher if there hadn't been a major cliffhanger that required me to purchase the follow up Road to Winter which is listed on Amazon as 94 page book for $2.99 (which also ends in a cliffhanger requiring purchase of Fae's Captive 3 listed at $2.99 for 100 pages). My suggestion, for those interested in reading this book, is to wait for the box set to grab the entire story or be frustrated with the cliffhangers as I am.

I was sucked in from the very beginning and couldn’t wait to see how this would play out. It gives you action and romance and keeps you wanting more. I love the characters and how the storyline is progressing. My only negative thing to say is that it was too short, but thank goodness book two is already out!Blog | Instagram | Twitter

I can see why there would be angry ratings. I read the ratings before I started and knew this was like a mini-teaser before you start the second book.No smut, no steam, but world building. It went by quickly and I liked that there was a lot of dialogue. I'll give the next book a go. But if it continues to drag out, I might call it quits after that.

Overall enjoyable but after the initial rush fades and I had some time to think about it I'm lowering my rating significantly. To be honest this wasn't what I expected at all. I thought it will be more of a smut fest with very little plot. And while the plot is nothing to write home about Fae's Captive had more of that than the title or the cover would have suggested. Personally I don't think it should have been a separate novel as it's way too short. Leander is the king of the winter fae, in the summer realm for negotiations. He finds his fated mate in the dungeons and is determined to get her out safely. Unfortunately, she doesn’t speak fae, and his changeling is passable at best. So why did I like this story. It has the fated mate trope, but only on Leander’s side. Taylor has a backbone and won’t let his feelings for her interfere with her plan, which is to go home. I liked the idea of a parallel universe with the fae realm. It was clever. I am a sucker for books with a language barrier. And Taylor gets a lot of culture shock in the fae realm. It has a lot of story for a 100 page novel. It ends on a cliffhanger, but book two is already out. It’s hard to say since the whole series isn’t complete, but I wish this was one long book instead of short stories. If you like fae stories, this one is fun and on kindle unlimited. If you don’t like cliffhangers, you may want to wait until the series is complete and read the box set.

Fae3.5Okay so we have another naïve virginal h/mate trope going on here- and a prophecy. If Taylor turns out to be a ‘chosen one’, we’ll have hit the trifecta. But so far I do like the story. We have Taylor, a hard working college student, who was tricked and switched by her fae roommate to become a changeling slave in the fae realms- only to then find herself mated to the king of the winter court. I’m interested in seeing all of the fae mythology, and monsters that the author comes up with—also Fae3.5Okay so we have another naïve virginal h/mate trope going on here- and a prophecy. This would have been rated a bit higher if it wasn't so short! Amazon says it's 100 pages, but I don't believe it's even that, wince I read it in 50 minutes. As a short story that end in a cliffhanger, or the first third if a book it had promise, but it's too early to tell beyond that!

It actually sounded like something right up my alley. When I checked it on amazon I was kind of disappointed. Because well the first volume only contains 100 pages. But for the meager 99 euro cent I wanted to give it a try. 100 pages and cheap… what could go wrong.Well what could go wrong, was getting into the series and having to buy all the books. (Who cost more than 99 cent but are still pretty cheap.) Bye Bye book buying ban. Hello new series that I want to finish!Let’s start off with saying that as usual the Facebook comments were a bit exaggerate or maybe (probably) they were posted by people who read more of the series then just the first installment. Fae’s Captive didn’t blow me away, but I think that was merely because of the size of the story. It is really short. It is like when you visit an ice cream salon and you get those little spoons to taste a flavor, before choosing your full scoop. This is exactly that!In 100 pages you get a feel of the world and its inhabitants. You don’t go full in and you are left with a whole lot of questions. But there is enough to make you want to read on. It is pretty action packed for such a short story, especially because it is the beginning of a series. As a reader you really are thrown in the story and everything is happening really fast. Of course the cover of the book kind of reveals it’s a bit of a smutty read. Hot and Steamy was something I was certainly expecting when picking this book up. But I have to say, it was quite mellow. No actual sex in this first installment. And I must confess that I actually liked that fact. As readers of my blog know I really enjoy passionate, hot and steamy sex scenes. But they have to fit the story. I loved that nothing was rushed. Sex sells we all know that. So it would have been so easy to throw in a hot sex scene and make the book all about that. But it is more, it is about the story. And I love that! (Ow and don’t worry, there are still some steamy scenes in this book. So it’s not like you will be depraved of any sexiness.)I hadn’t the biggest connection with Taylor, but I was really intrigued with Leander. If you have read reviews by my hand before you will know I don’t like alpha males who don’t treat woman with any kind of respect. But Leander, although a might Fae King is very considered with Taylor and how she feels and what she wants. I absolutely loved that in the story! All in all, it was a little bit too short to my liking. But I have 4 other books in this series waiting for me! I can’t wait to see where this story is going to go! I will keep you posted!

I’m always up for a “new to me author” even if Paranormal isn’t my jam. That being said I LOVED the cute and quirkiness of this one! It had me hooked from the beginning. And I never got lost in this new world! Cecile is the best! She’s that one hot mess of a friend everyone has that causes the chaos but somehow manages to wind up unscathed. At least so far. Leander and Taylor have some great chemistry along with the other characters added in. And holy cliffhanger...

Super short read. I’m assuming it’s part of a serial or episodic read. I wish the cover was different. This book is relatable to the iron queen series. I feel the cover should reflect Taylor. This book and I guess the series is going to be about her being a human dropped into a fae realm to fulfill a prophecy so why is the cover all sexualized. This book is more action adventure, but their is a small romantic element that will I guess blossom in the future.
