Consumed
My body will burn with need. My mind will go mad with lust. Then he'll consume my soul.I thought I knew how to handle a man like him, but there are no men like him. Though he is a billionaire, when he desired me he did not try to buy me, and when he wanted me bared and bound he didn't call his bodyguards. He did it himself, even as I fought him, because he could. He told me soon I would beg him to ravage me... and I did. But it wasn't the pain of his belt searing my naked backside that drove me to plead with him to use me so shamefully I might never stop blushing. I begged because my body knew its master, and it didn't give me a choice. But my body is not all he plans to claim. He wants my mind and my soul too, and he will have them. He's going to take so much of me there will be nothing left. He's going to consume me.Publisher's Note: Consumed includes spankings, rough, intense sexual scenes, and strong D/s themes. 3.5 starsStarted out very intriguing, very different dark tale but then each “trial” was simply one sex subjugation scene after another, and only interactions between the two characters. This was a hodgepodge of WTF and WHY.Seriously. WHY.And DAMN! Clearly the gods chose wrong when putting mankind's future in this family's hands. They should have gone with a Black woman to save humanity...at least she wouldn't have given up and let the world go to hell in a handbasket after one. single. night. of dick.

THE BALANCE OF GOOD TO MY EVILO.M.G. this story is one that keeps the pages turning, but at the same time, you are almost afraid to turn the page. Is it happening? Is it a dream? There are two main characters, good versus evil, prophecies foretold, and are they now being fulfilled?“The two of us were enemies, her mortal, me immortal. It was her role as the Warrior of Light to vanquish me. In the past, many of her bloodlines had come close, but I was exceedingly difficult to kill. I was true evil, a darkness that threatened to consume the world. I was the devil, and her kind lived to conquer me. I was going to fulfill the demands of the prophecy. I was going to consume her. I was going to master her body, then her mind, and finally, her soul. And then, she would be mine. Forever.”I will warn anyone who dislikes dark books that this one is just that, DARK, and I wouldn’t call it romance, more possession, and control. Kassandra places herself in a position that traps her, and she doesn’t escape the clutches of Markos Varela. Once he has her, he consumes her, using her, taking whatever he wants, however, he wants, and she is under his power.“No one is going to save you from this, from me. You’re going to be mine, forever.”—Markos“My mind hadn’t wanted this, but my body had.” –Kassandra“You were always meant to be mine. It’s your destiny, Warrior of Light.” –MarkosThe story has very explicit sex scenes which will include forced submission, dubious consent, oral, anal, bondage, wax play, and scenes of life and death. This isn’t a sweet, wine and roses romance; it is “Agony. Pleasure. Hurt. Desire.” It is control where maybe Evil wins over Good—as someone else referred their thoughts on the book, “It is a mind-fuck.” And yes, I definitely agree.

4 starsThis book started much different than I had first anticipated. So much so, that I forgot I was reading a paranormal romance. it had the feel of mafia romance all over it. It was minor things that would occur that would remind me that he was not mafia but it still seemed like a contemporary romance. There were some twists that I did not see coming until one pivotal "ah-ha" moment. The steam was off the chart to the point I worried if my iPad was going to overheat. It felt rushed in regards to the conclusion. There was so much still left to be explored that the conclusion frustrated me. Especially, being that I was definitely invested in this story and wanted to know more. That being said, still a very good story.

I liked this story for the most part. The storyline was interesting, the intimacy between characters, smoking hot. The reason for 3 stars, there was too much redundancy in parts of the story for the story to flow as easily as it should have. I enjoyed this darker tale from Sara Fields. It packed a lot of steam and suspense for quite a short read. Ms. Field did a great job at playing with the readers mind and making us question what is in fact going on. My only complaint is that I wish the story were longer so we could get more character development for both main characters. Overall, I definitely recommend this to all the lovers of darkish PNR.

I felt this story was superbly written, I loved the imagery, the writing, the way the visions the author's words inspired grabbed you by the throat & then swirled you away into a harrowing psychological & metaphysical Alice in Horrorland where neither Kassandra (heroine) or the reader knows what is reality & what is imagined. The first portion of the story, laying the foundation of Markos the Evil, the Warriors of Light, the ancient prophecy & war as well as how Kassandra & Ma I felt this story was superbly written, I loved the imagery, the writing, the way the visions the author's words inspired grabbed you by the throat & then swirled you away into a harrowing psychological & metaphysical Alice in Horrorland where neither Kassandra (heroine) or the reader knows what is reality & what is imagined. The first portion of the story, laying the foundation of Markos the Evil, the Warriors of Light, the ancient prophecy & war as well as how Kassandra & Markos meet in Greece & what frightening erotic actions transpire between them were riveting, intense & harrowing. I was mesmerized & the intensity of the first portion of the story sucked me into the tale. However, once Kassandra found herself back in New York the story began to lose me. Markos was such an overwhelming physical presence with Kassandra in Greece & afterwards, although he swirled around Kassandra repetitively in New York, his character's presence was too distant ( this was intentional on the author's part), neither the reader or Kassandra could tell if he was really there or not. I understand the author's intent was to 'confuse' things, to make the story events murky, unsure, to wonder if Kassandra was swirling into madness or the only one to realize what exactly was happening, but again this made things just too detached for me.However, as I mentioned earlier, this (IMO) is a wonderful work of words, in some ways the writing style after the 1st portion put me in mind of a Tanith Lee heroine (this is my feeling) if they had been possessed of an intense emotional personality. The writing makes the reader feel as though on one of those Mad Teacup amusement park rides, where things spin & twirl in multiple & dizzying ways, where you aren't able to truly focus on anything or recognize exactly what you're seeing. You feel Kassandra's panic & frustration at rationalizing that she understands what is happening only to be ripped away to be returned to a new reality.I think if this were to be promoted as more of an erotic horror fantasy as opposed to a dark romance I would have had a more appropriate headset for the story itself.BUT, a superb story superbly written with a chilling & horrifying anti-Hero & plot & a confused heroine working to survive her addictive need for him.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

There's an underlying plot that is wove throughout the story, building and building in intensity, bringing goosebumps and raising the small hairs on the back of this readers neck. I just don't feel any emotion from the characters. I'm not connecting with them, so I don't feel drawn into the story. Instead I feel like an impartial observer.I so want to love and be able to rave about this book, but I can't. However I'm pretty certain that many people will enjoy it, particularly fans of Ms Fields, those who love an erotic dark read and those who enjoy dark paranormal stories. Kassandra is looking for info on the man who is reported to be the “top dog”. Markos catches her. He is not what she thinks. Markos is handsome, rich, has far reaching connections and suave. Kassandra is the light to Markos’s dark. Light a moth she is drawn in to his world. He knows he needs to deal with Kassandra’s invasion. He is evil incarnate and all around bad news.

I went into this book blind. I mean it’s a Sara Fields book, it’s gotta be good, right?? So I start out and I’m on the edge of my seat already.... there is sexy danger. But then- BAM! I fall right outta my seat. There is a sharp left curve into WTF!! And then before I know it there is a spiraling deep dive through a black hole into a total [email protected]#$!!! Sometimes I felt a little lost and untethered. There is not a lot of background information or explanation. And you are not sure what is real and I went into this book blind. I’m not sure if I really figured that out at the end. But the book is packed full of Ms. Fields’ signature intense sexy chemistry.

This story kept me reading all the way to the end of the book. I was still looking for more pages. Kassandra is a member of the Warriors of Light and Marko is a Vampire and devil all roled into one. Kassandra is suppose to take Marko into justice but Marko turnes the tables on her and captures her. Marko is the kind of Vampire that I would like to meet. Sexy as Sin. This is a fast paced read and so good that it's simply imposible to not want to finish the story. I look forward to reading more st This story kept me reading all the way to the end of the book. This new book Consumed by Sara Fields blew my mind. I found it different from the books I usually read by her, it was dark and suspenseful. I found the storyline intriguing and the characters memorable. The main characters Markos and Kassandra were evil vs good and dark vs light. The intensity and passion that they felt for each other transcends all boundaries, reality and fantasy become a blur. I think Sara Fields has found a new genre that she is very good at and I hope she writes more. I woul This new book Consumed by Sara Fields blew my mind. It is a well written story and it kind of reminds me of Addison Cain's White Queen in some ways. Filled with smexy scenes, spankings, and a twisted ending that is sure to satisfy fans. It would have fit perfectly in the "When the Dark Wins" anthology.Even though the story is good and entertaining, I just couldn't give it 5 stars as I prefer my male leads to have at least a small glimmer of light and Markos has none. So I knew ahead of time that this was going to be a vampire story but I wasn’t prepared for the wild intense ride the author takes us on. I couldn’t put it down. It isn’t sparkles and sunlight at all and I can’t actually describe how incredibly addicting this story is. It’s dark like hold onto your pantries dark! Or not ;) It’s so steamy my kindle almost caught fire. I couldn’t catch a breath. I was holding on to every single line until the very end and then I wanted more! No! I needed more! I was totally "Consumed" by this book. From the opening words I til the end, I could not get it out of my mind. It haunted me until I could continue reading it. Consumed is dark, very dark and once that darkness swallows you up, it is steamy. This book will ignite your kindle into flames. Kessandra has no idea what is in store for her. I was just as shocked as she was. Marcus is the ultimate bad boy, or is he just a dream? Sara Fields takes us on a ride that is on full speed and full of twists.
