Bennett Mafia
There were always whispers about my roommate at Hillcrest Academy. The wealthiest of the wealthy sent their kids to our boarding school, and Brooke Bennett had been at the top, though I never quite knew why. She was fun and outgoing, but she kept quiet about her family. The only things she showed me were photographs of her brothers. I became fascinated with her second-oldest brother. Kai Bennett. He was the most of them all. Smoldering. Hypnotic. Alluring. Kai had eyes that pulled me in and a face that haunted my dreams. Then I met him. He came to our school with their father, and that’s when I learned what kind of family Brooke came from. They were mafia, and Brooke’s oldest brother was dead. Her father said accident, but Brooke said murder. Three months later, her father died, and Kai became the head of the Bennett Family. Brooke left Hillcrest for good, and that was the last time I saw her. Fourteen years later, I’m staring at her face on the television. Brooke is missing. Two days later, Kai Bennett kidnaps me.

MY REVIEW: can also be found on my blog: ➽ KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS Anything by this author I tend to jump on it, she could rewrite the phone book and I’d beg for a copy!!PAST: At the centre of the story is Brooke Bennett the mafia Princess, she was Riley’s roommate at boarding school when they were in their teens. She tended to be very closed mouth about her family but the photos on the wall told another story entirely. It was one such photo that Riley was drawn to, and that was of Kai, the second eldest brother. He just had more of a presence, he seemed more intimidating than his siblings, everything about him just screamed more. And the fact that they were mafia and ruthless should've screamed keep away, but it seemed to have the opposite effect. PRESENT: Today’s news broadcasts a missing person, and that missing person is Riley’s old roommate Brooke. They were no longer roommates, you could even say they were no longer best friends. All that ended thirteen years ago. Riley is no longer the Riley we know, she’s a completely different person. Today Riley goes by the name Raven Hastings, ives with two other roommates, and works at a nursing home where she worked as a nursing aide. But there is so much more to her story. Kai wants to get to the bottom of his sisters disappearance and he thinks Raven knows more than she's letting on and the only way in his eyes to do that is to kidnap her!!Our heroine Riley is a strong compassionate fierce character, she will protect those she loves fiercely. Our hero Kai is a dark, broody, ruthless alpha male and a force to be reckoned with, but he’s also honest to a fault. I am everything that's bad in this world. You are everything that's good, and I am turning you into me. I hate myself when I look at you. You reflect everything wrong in me, every time I'm inside of you. Under the same roof these two cannot hide their attraction for each other, it sizzles off the pages, no matter how hard they try to fight it. Mafia reads are my kryptonite, one of my go to genres of all time, they offer enough darkness, angst, and the romance I need all in a nice package. Finding out Tijan was bringing us another mafia read I was signing up without even reading the blurb, one look at the author sealed the deal. The only reason why I’m giving this 4 stars and not 5 is the beginning came across stilted, with vast gaps in the timeline, which made it hard for me to connect to the storyline, I didn’t understand their childhood friendship because it was glossed over, but the further i got into the storyline it just flowed ceaselessly, and the pace picked up and that’s when it came into its own for me. I couldn’t put it down. Chapters just flew by. I inhaled it.* Teaser used is off the authors facebook page *

He just did evil things.” Oh my God!!!I wasn’t expecting to like this book so much, but surprisingly I did. I couldn’t put it down, I was hooked from the first page to the last. I loved the characters, I just loved everything about it! It was definitely a pleasant and great surprise.

I fell in love with Tijan's writing, when I first read (I've done many re-reads) the "Fallen Crest High"  series. I also have a major weakness for "made" men, so I figured this book would be perfect for me. This story starts out with Riley becoming best friends with Brooke Bennett, at boarding school. Riley doesn't know very much about her new friend, but she does know that Brooke has a lot of brothers and her family seems to be a very "big deal". She is especially interested in the picture I fell in love with Tijan's writing, when I first read (I've done many re-reads) the "Fallen Crest High"  series. She is especially interested in the picture Brooke has of Kai, the second oldest brother...Bit by bit, we get fed tiny bits of information and things started to become clear to me (and to Riley) as to who the "Bennett" family really is. There were still lot's of questions left open though...When people within the Bennett family start dying, Riley is pulled out of school by her brother Kai... It's the end of a lovely friendship...Now years later, mafia princess Brooke has gone missing and Kai and his brothers have kidnapped Riley, because they are sure she has the answers to some very important questions. Riley is not some whiny desperate heroine...she knows how to take care of herself, but even she has to admit defeat. What's worse though, is dealing with the attraction she feels towards Kai. She has always had a bit of a thing for him and turns out that she is not the only one feeling the sparks between them...I really enjoyed this one. Riley was a strong heroine and Kai was deliciously dark and broody. The storyline was also very interesting. That said, I did get a bit confused at the beginning about what was going on, the time jumps had me scratching my head a bit as to what was happening.  Thankfully it didn't take me too long to figure things out, but still....the confusion was real. If you're a mafia fan like me and love your heroines strong and feisty and your heroes a bit dark, you should definitely check this one out.  My reviews are posted on

If I could give this book a hundred stars I would. I absolutely loved it! It had me flipping the pages non stop. Kai, oh wait! He is everything. I swooned so hard over him. Riley what a strong heroine, full of sass. I was on the edge more times then not. This book had it all, suspense, drama, sexy times, made me laugh out loud. Dare I say this may be my favorite Tijan book? An Arc was kindle provided by Tijan. Thanks a million for the Arc. I loved it.

NOW LIVE!Amazon US * Amazon UKI was not expecting this to be such a suspenseful story but it had me so intrigued by the mystery of what was going on with Kai's family. I loved that from page one it was able to suck me in and I was just enthralled by everything happening. The Bennett family definitely had a lot secrets that were revealed slowly as the story progressed. It had me dying to more with each turn of the page! I loved that from page one it was able to suck me in and I was just enthralled by everything happening. The Bennett family definitely had a lot secrets that were revealed slowly as the story progressed. It had me dying to more with each turn of the page! Honestly, this has been one of the most captivating books I've read this year. The story centers around Riley and the Bennett family, who is known to be a ruthless mafia family. They come to her for help, aka leave her no other option but to help, for their sister who was once Riley's roommate at boarding school. It opens her world up to so many secrets about, not just the Bennett's, but her family also. And it leads her back to Kai Bennett, head of the family, and the one guy who scared her when she was younger. But now that she's older she is feeling far more than just scared. These two had the kind of explosive chemistry that I just love in my stories. The kind where both characters know that they shouldn't want each other but they can't help the connection that pulls them together. Kai had this overpowering presence about him whenever he was in a scene that makes you sit up and take notice. It made up for him not having a POV, at least for me since I usually am pretty meh about one-POV stories. His character was amazing for that and the whole brooding type of vibe he was giving off, along with his intense way of revealing information was brilliant. As for Riley, girl needed an applause. I love how she handled everything. She didn't go down without a fight, but she also knew when to fold and give in to that urge to jump Kai. And she was a really good fit for his intensity with her attitude and the fight she had. Even as I say that she knew when to give it up, I don't mean that she ever stopped fighting and I really admire that about any character. She was protective of those she cared about and for them she would do anything, and who doesn't want a friend like that? The point of all of this fangirl style rambling is that I really really liked this story and I want everyone I know to read it. It gets a huge recommend from me and if you're a fan of mafia books, or just a fan of really amazing characters, this is the book you need to read next. ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.

They are always strong and fierce. I also love that her male protagonists are such strong alpha men but they are never stifling. They support their women...they let them shine.Kai is dark, broody and honestly? He just oozes male masculinity with a smoothness that is indescribable. whereas Riley is tough AF! She is brilliant, quiet and deadly.Together, Kai and Riley are Perfection!Tijan writes vengeance so beautifully. She balances right and wrong with faultless brilliance. To be honest, it's scary yet so thrilling exciting. But no matter what, there is always strength and a sense of confidence when it comes to Tijan's books. It's very hard to be good in a world when authors writes such temptingly sinful books and there was without a doubt an insatiable need that made me crave Kai and Riley's story.Bennett Mafia had me hooked!Bennett Mafia is a tantalisingly excellent read!

I effin loved the guy.he was true to his role in the mafia family and he took it wordlessly with so much dark dominance he simply ruled the pages...in everything he did.as much as the story goes, I have to say that the first part of the book (mainly introduction and the first few chapters) were a bit of a messy delivery - the 15 years gap between the short "explanation" of the events happening when the characters were 12 (the heroine) and when she meets Kai (age 16) for the first time, are somewhat immaturely based on an idea or appearance and the fact that the author kept going on and building this "emotion" aka hate between the two is simply unbased to start with. So, when the plot jumps in the action/present 15 years later, so now they are 27 and 31, it would seem that they would out grown that particular "emotion" based on nothing but a memory and a glimpse of the past, but no, the heroine hates Kai with the fire of the thousand suns or whatever...but based on what exactly?!I tried to surpass that by focusing of the second part of the story and that is ALL Kai's doing. In fact, he is the highlight of dark...and he carries the story through. It's action packed, it's dark, it's gritty and it's tense in steam and I loved it.BUT considering the flaws of the first part I simply can't give 5 stars.

Wow! Let me first start off by saying that. Tijan didn’t come to play with this one. I devoured this in one sitting because so much was happening that I didn’t want to put my kindle down. He was ruthless and took no shit, the perfect kind of mob boss. Riley was his equal in so many ways. She wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty or go toe to toe with Kai. These two had chemistry down! I kept screaming ”just have sex already!!” so many times. Unfortunately, once they started, it seemed like that’s all they did. I wanted a bit more romance from them and all I really got were a bunch of sex scenes. I wanted to actually feel when they actually fell in love, you know. The best part of this book were the secrets and the betrayals. Every time I thought I had something figured out, I would get blown away by another revelation. I was so drawn into this world and it was a treat to read.I highly recommend this if you are a fan of Tijan or mafia books in general! I received an ARC for an honest review. Are you kinding me??? HELL YES!!!!God, i love this woman's writing so damn much!!! She is my secret delight!!!And I'm really trying to resist because i really have to read and another authors, so I'm keeping her many times for my hard times!!!! But I'm loving every. single. book. of hers!!! Even though. my first one of hers "A whole new crowd" will always hold a special place in my heart!!!!As you can realize, this book wasn't an exception!!!So, here was a super, wild ride as always with Tijan's books!!!We entered the mafia world and to be totally honest with you, even though she had written more from these kind of books, it was my first!!!! (The hard days as i told you before!!! Bahahaha!!!) And i damn loved it!!!! It surely was a big book, but it had so many action inside that i didn't get bored not once!!!The main couple was amazing and the rest of the crew was also very loveable!!!Nope, this story wasn't about unicorns and rainbows, far from it, but it seemed real in an unrealistic way!!!! "I am everything that's bad in this world. You are everything that's good, and I am turning you into me..." Well, let me explain some things about the plot, but not too many, because... You know i hate spoilers, and it will be inevitable to make at some point!!!Riley met Brooke Bennett when she was twelve years old... They were roommates for some time... Brooke was a princess mafia and she had a big family with four more brothers!!!A year later, Brooke's brother, Kai, took his sister away from school and Riley lost contact with her... But she never forget her, or Kai for the matter!!! "I do not want to hurt you, but I will if it means losing my sister. Remember that." In the present day, Riley is leading a different kind of life... And Brooke is going missing...And then, out of nowhere, two days after Brooke's disappearance, Riley is getting abducted by the Bennett family and specificaly by their leader, Kai, who is trying to find his sister and he's demanding Riley's help in that matter...And that is the beginning of a weird and life-changing journey for both of them, but especially for Riley!!! "Kai was the enemy , or I'd thought he was. Now I didn't know.I didn't know what was going on with me." "I needed to stop giving Kai more credit than he deserved. Fucking attraction had started to blind me to what he did for a living: he was in the mafia. He was a bad guy. He did bad things" As you can understand, ther will be lust and love between those two, but it also will be bad blood... The line between hate and love is very thin and the kind of life that Kai is leading is going against Riley's goals in life...Is really Riley holding the key in Brooke's disappearance???Will Kai let her go or will he change her for good???Will Riley listen to her heart or her logic will win after all???Is Kai as ruthless and calculating as he seems to be or there is also a different side of him???Is there a future for the two of them or their ending is inevitable from the very first moment??? "You may hate me. You may loathe me...But you goddamn want me.""I was weak. I was an embarrassment to the ideals I'd dedicated my life to: helping others, saving others, protecting others. I was with a man who violated all of those principles, and I should run. I could run now, but I didn't. I knew I wouldn't.I would give in when he came to me." Well, i won't say more about this book, but there was much background in here...There were many good things, but also too many bad things that took place in here...It was a very hard thing to be a part of the Bennett family...Kai was ruthless and cruel, but for his family, he could do anything!!! For Riley too, as it seemed in here!!!The Network was making a really great job, but i can not say more details about it!!! "It has to be your decision. Everything has to be your decision." Riley was a very strong woman and i liked the fight inside of her, especially in the beginning...Yep, the feelings were clouding her mind from time to time, but she still had it in her...Kai's presence in her life changed her in a way that she couldn't undone, but she changed him too!!!Yep, he was the head of the family and he did anything to be in that place, so his morals weren't in high levels, but at the same time, we could see that he had heart deep down inside... Family came first for him... And then, there was Riley...Those two had too many shits to face, together and separately, but together could do anything!!!Their love was explosive and in a way, destructive!!! Will they manage to find balance and be together after all???To be totally honest with you, near to the end, my heart was breaking for them.... "He opened a channel inside of me where dark things happened, a place most people didn't want to acknowledge. Not Kai. Not me. He'd found it in me, made me look at it, and then he took me there and was making it my home.I shouldn't have wanted it. I shouldn't have wanted him, but I could no longer deny that I was his.""I cannot risk you. I won't. I've had my mother taken from me. My brother. I won't risk anyone else, and I won't apologize for that. I care about you. Whether it's rational or not, I won't chance losing you." In here, there were too many bad people!!!! Okay, the Bennetts were also bad, but i got to know them and i loved them, even with their flaws and their bad actions!!!Yep, in books, i have no moral compass!!! LOL!!!So, i loved all the Bennetts, beyond my dear Kai!!!They were an intriguing bunch!!!!I also liked a lot Riley's roommates, Blade and Carol!!! They were risking their heads for her and i appreciated it very much!!!God, Tijan's stories never get old for me!!! I need them as the air i breathe!!!! "You are my goodness. My redemption. My lifeline. Jesus, you woke something good in me that I never knew was there, and I realized every time I held you that I was destroying you. Little by little. The more goodness you gave to me, the more darkness I gave back. I was changing you..."

This book was...something. Ridiculous is probably the best word. I love Mafia books, okay? Like, love them. But this book lacked a lot. I couldn't sympathize with Riley at all, she made it very hard to care about her because her thought process was infuriating. The Bennett brothers were okay, Brooke was as silly as a mafia princess is expected to be but that didn't make me like her anymore. I was mostly reading to finish it, to see if it had any redeeming qualities. Sadly, it didn't. It was predictable, the plot was all over the place, and I found it very hard to care about any of them.

Thirteen years later, each girl's life has gone in a different direction, Riley as a covert Hider agent, Brooke as the mafia princess she was born to be. Though now physically separated, they're still friends which is why Riley goes into hyper concern mode when news hits her that Brooke has gone missing. Kai Bennett, Brooke's brother and now head of the mafia Bennett family syndicate, feels Riley knows more about Brooke than she's letting on. Though she swears they lost touch over the years, there are strong indicators that Riley is involved and maybe responsible for Brooke's disappearance. Family is everything for Kai and so he will do everything in his power to locate and return his sister to the family compound. Nothing and no one will get in his way which includes Riley. * * * Standalone solo book though the author has mentioned that this MAY turn into a series at some later date. It is a dark mafia antihero romance that does include dark themed material that is consistent with the whole mafia lifestyle. That means potential readers should proceed with reading this book knowing that. Kai & Riley. I wanted to feel that this was a friends to lovers themed story but the characters didn't cooperate. Enemies to lovers would be more appropriate which translates to verbal sparring and physical displays of lust in the earlier stages of their romance. For those on a need to know basis, there is adult content scenes between the two that doesn't start until the later portions of the story itself. Secondary characters. Tanner, Jonah, Brooke, Blade, and Carol are character standouts who do contribute to the world building and flesh out the depth to the overall story. I'm sure one or two of them will come back in any possible future installments if this book progresses to a series. My issues. At 395 pages, this story had the ability to be fully fleshed out and developed, to add depth, meaningful play between the different characters, set up the mystery-suspense-drama and pull in the reader to be a part of Kai & Riley's world. Unfortunately it can also be the reverse which was the case for me as it dragged on way too long in rambling individual scenes that were more fluff than substance. As a reader, I'm really not vested in knowing the day to day operations of tings unless it adds to the suspense, mystery, excitement, or even gore factor. I admit I did fast forward through portions of the story just because I needed things to move on. Though I'm not a fan of this story, it will appeal to those who look for well developed complete world building in the contemporary mafia antihero romance genre.

I read and didn’t stop until it was finished and my god, I’m absolutely loving this book. Kai and Riley’s story is a thing of interest. It’s different and absolutely fascinating to read. From the beginning I loved both characters. A woman destined to help others after living a horrible life and a man so dead set on getting his sister he doesn’t care who he hurts or uses. Watching them spend almost every day together is so much fun. There’s so much tension, heat, anger and hatred surrounding them it’s amazing! Kai Bennett is the biggest asshole amongst assholes. He’s an asshole you just can’t help but love but if peel back the layers you just might find something more to him. He’s one of the best Alphaholes I’ve ever come across. I’m going to leave it at that because I don’t wanna spoil this beauty for anyone. Just know that this book is a book you’re going to WANT and NEED to read. I’ve read a few of Tijan’s books now and I have to say every new book gets more and more amazing. The talent of this woman is never ending and I’m always, ALWAYS excited to see what she brings us next. Bennett Mafia is Dark, Delicious, Sexy and Addicting. One of the best books in 2019!

But what did surprise me is HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS BOOK!I’m not usually a mafia romance lover. I like them well enough, but it’s not my go-to genre. However, Tijan has a way of writing that always consumes me, especially her mafia/crew type books. Her characters are always strong, independent and ruthless ... especially the heroes. I love them all. But as much as I’ve loved her other mafia/crew type heroes, that enormous basket of love doesn’t compete with the love I quickly developed for Kia Bennett. I want that hot, mafia bossman in the worst way! Bennett Mafia was phenomenal. Sexy, heart-stopping and exciting. I couldn’t put it down. Not. For. One. Millisecond! Story/Characters... Riley Bello was born into a world of monsters. She lived in constant fear her first twelve years of life. Then, after being sent away to Hillcrest Academy where she met her roommate and soon to be best friend, Brooke Bennett - mafia princess, her life became a revolving door of change and sacrifice.Years later she would come face to face with one of those monsters. The first time she saw Kia Bennett was in a picture on her best friends wall. She was fascinated. Then she met him in person and those piercing eyes, that flat, emotionless mask covering his too handsome face, that overwhelming air of authority ... he affected her in ways she didn’t understand. And he scared the crap out of her. Years later, she saw him again, only this time he’d kidnapped her and demanded information from her she couldn’t give him.Kia Bennett is the king of the Bennett Mafia and he’s on a mission to find his missing sister and nothing will stop him.Riley is no stranger to bad things. Her past is complicated and she’s spent the last few years immersed in a world of brokenness and hiding. So she’s not shocked in the slightest the minute the devil comes knocking.Kia is darkness where Riley is light. He hurts people. She saves them.He is merciless. Ruthless. Scary. She is compassionate. Giving. Fearless.Their common ground? They are both honest, loyal and will protect those they care about with a terrifying fierceness unlike any other. The minute Kia kidnaps her, Riley knew her life would never be the same. What she didn’t count on was the instant attraction. That all-consuming pull he has over her. And she has to decide if she’s willing to join him in the darkness or try to salvage the life she left behind. This read was everything!Action packed.Emotionally fueled.Solid, exciting story that compelled me forward to the next page at every turn.Well told, unfettered writing with firey chemistry between two badass mains I literally couldn’t pick a favorite from if I tried ... because they BOTH kicked serious ass!And as always, amazing side characters who cemented the familial feel/bond of a Tijan book. The Wrap Up: The entire read was amazing! I was captivated and delighted. But those last few chapters? I was enthralled! As I sank into the pages, I was taken from my mundane surroundings and buried in a mafia world where the author didn’t play around at the edges of darkness. No, she threw this reader right in the middle of it and held me captive until the electrifying end.To say I want more of Kai and Riley is an understatement. To say I want more of the entire Bennett clan is too simplified of a comment. If this turned into a series, I’d shout praises to the bookgods from the highest building I could find. I loved it that much! You want a damn good read? Tijan is your author and this book should be at the top of your list!

Riley is right up there as one of my fave Tijan heroines. Riley's back story was intriguing, and what I liked most about her is that she has agency. She has a mission in life which grew out of her trauma history, and was laser-focused with fulfilling what she thought was her purpose; namely, to save people. Then she finds out that her childhood bestie is missing, and her bestie's older brother - who just happens to be a mafia shot-caller - kidnaps Riley to get answers. And this is where I went from liking to loving the book. I really enjoyed Riley and Kai together. Yes, they had amazing chemistry, but I would expect nothing less from Tijan. What was different was the maturity level these characters had with navigating the complex ethical dilemmas that their relationship imposed on the other. What do you do when you're falling for someone who seems to stand on the other side of your ethical line? How much are you willing to bend your own lines to accommodate the other person? And if you bend enough, how long does it take before you start to lose yourself? What do you do if/when that happens? What does the other person do? You can see the struggle that Riley and Kai each had with managing this conundrum. And while they were struggling, they had a nice cast of supporting characters to offset the drama. Teenage Brooke cracked me up, and I would've loved to have read more about Brooke and Riley during their school days. Kai's relationships with his brothers reminded me a lot of Mason/Logan in the FALLEN CREST SERIES. And since we're on the subject of FC, Kai is right up there with Mason as my fave Tijan book BF. I'm not sure if this is a standalone or the beginning of a series, but here's to my two cents for getting a Tanner and/or Jonah books ;) *Thanks to Tijan for the ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review*

Brooke was Riley’s childhood roommate and friend at their boarding school. Kai believes that Riley knows more about Brooke’s disappearance than she is letting on and has her kidnapped. This book isn’t perfect there seems to be a bit of Stockholm Syndrome and the falling for each other was a bit quick. But the book had me keep reading despite these things and I finished it in less than 24 hours. Riley was a character I really enjoyed reading about. She wanted to do the right and moral thing but that wasn’t always an option for her. She also did not have the best upbringing that affected her through the book. In a way I was hoping for more darkness from this book but do not get me wrong it was pretty dark that dealt with many issues such as abuse, murder, kidnapping. I wanted to see Riley turn dark and really embrace her inner demons. But alas that didn’t happen. Tijan is one of my favorite authors and I really enjoyed this novel! I definitely recommend!!!

Answers that only Riley knows. But Riley has changed her ways in life. She once lived a life of riches under the heavy thumb of her sadistic father. She now works as a hider, protecting those in need and making sure no one finds them. But while looking out for others, Riley forgot that she's also undercover from one of the toughest Mafia Bosses around, Kai Bennett. My Thoughts:Holy hell! Tijan, what are you doing to me! I'm sleep deprived and blurry eyed. My body yearns for rest but my brain keeps telling me one more chapter. Bennett Mafia is my newest addiction and I'm only 14 chapters in! This book is such a rush! This is what I posted on my Instagram yesterday while I was still reading Bennett Mafia. At that moment, I was 14 chapters in, which was about 20% of the way through the book. I thought I was sleep deprived then! I knew absolutely nothing containing to what I was actually in for!Tijan has done it again! She's found a way to write a completely addicting novel with alluring characters. A novel that has her reader's sitting on the edge of their seats throughout the whole damn book. A novel that makes us all break that one simple promise to ourselves, I'll put the book down after I finish this chapter. I honestly don't know how many times I told myself this while reading. Too many times to count.Kai Bennett is not only fiercely dangerous, but also very smooth! He knows what he wants and he knows exactly how to get it, that’s for damn sure. This man has put me on an emotional roller coaster throughout this book. There were moments that made me curse him up and down while throwing air punches. But then there were also moments where I wanted to pull him into my arms and hug the daylights out of him.I freaking loved Riley! I loved her inner monologue and how she fought her attraction to Kai until the very end, until it was too late. Riley is also lethal, but in her own ways. She’s a character that shouldn’t be underestimated. These two separate characters are dangerous, but in different ways. One uses their danger for personal vendettas, while the other lives a life of danger simply to help others. But when you put Kai and Riley in the same room and give them a goal to set towards, the combination is lethal.Overall, I couldn’t get enough of Bennett Mafia! This novel is freaking crazy with twists and turns around every corner. Some I was expecting, while others blew me the fuck away! The only thing negative I found in this novel was the fact that a few key moments felt a tad bit rushed. But that could be summed up to my selfishness and not wanting this story to ever end.If you are looking for a slow burn romance filled to the brim with danger, sexual tension, and a love that’s worth fighting for. Plus it has a great cover, which is always a bonus. This review may come across as a little contradictory and I do apologise. I’m not too sure how I felt about this book to begin with, yet I did wind up reading it all and by the end I did really enjoy it. I will try to explain my mixed feelings about the first half of this one and why the second half redeemed it:This book is a full length book. I had the day off work today so I got through it in one long sitting. If I was to read it in the evening, which is when I usually read, it would have taken me three sittings at least and I’m not sure I would have picked it back up once I’d put it down. Which is why I’m glad I read this today, as I did end up getting swept away by the book, eventually . But boy, it took me a long time to get into this author’s writing style! We’re introduced to Riley, our heroine, at the start of this book. I found the beginning chapters confusing and I wasn’t too sure what was going on. Riley’s character was contracting to me. She was supposedly a strong female lead, defined by her harsh upbringing, but honestly, the constant fainting (for no apparent reason) and vomiting at the start of this book were very off putting. Seriously, at one point, she was seen by a doctor every other chapter – this annoyed me.She is kidnapped by Kai Bennett, Head of the Bennett Mafia family. He is trying to trace his sister, Brooke, who happens to be Riley’s only ‘real’ friend, despite them not talking for the best part of 14 years, but hey, who am I to judge? At the start of this book Kai and Riley didn’t behave how they ‘should’ behave, which frustrated me the most. You know when you’re willing characters to do certain things or behave a certain way, and they just don’t, and it all falls a bit flat? This is how the start of this book felt for me. I also found Brooke to be a little selfish at times.Eventually, when I settled in to this author’s writing, which I did, I really enjoyed the story. Kai and Riley’s relationship was executed well and their attraction to one another was delicious from around the 50% mark onwards. Kai was dark and dangerous, and this book had all the necessary components of a good mafia read. Pretty decent secondary characters, too.The story takes us on a intense journey, with lots of twists along the way. I was surprised at how long this read was, but am thankful the author didn’t split it over multiple books. I'm just glad that I stuck it out and enjoyed it 'cause I've got a shit load more by Tijan to get through!

You will be kept guessing and on the edge of your seat all the way until the very end.Riley is one of my favorites Tijan heroines to date. She is kindhearted, smart, strong and very brave. She is part of an organization that rescues people from bad situations and helps them to disappear. Their mission of saving people is very near and dear to her heart due to her own traumatic past. Kai is a made man in the mob and the brother to Brooke, Riley's childhood best friend. He is sexy, seductive, cunning and controlling. When his sister goes missing, he kidnaps Riley, convinced that she holds all of the answers. The two of them are at opposite ends of the spectrum. He is darkness and she is light. He stands for all that she is against, but there is an undeniable pull between them. A sizzling hot chemistry that they can't seem to walk away from. All in all, Bennett Mafia was a fun and exciting fast paced read with lots of action and suspense. I thought it was smartly written, captivating and sexy as all get-out. It's the whole package and I loved every single minute of it.
