A Peter Pan retelling like you've NEVER seen before!! Emma, Norman and Ray are the brightest kids at the Grace Field House orphanage. And under the care of the woman they refer to as “Mom,” all the kids have enjoyed a comfortable life. Good food, clean clothes and the perfect environment to learn—what more could an orphan ask for? And under the care of the woman they refer to as “Mom,” all the kids have enjoyed a comfortable life. Good food, clean clothes and the perfect environment to learn—what more could an orphan ask for? One day, though, Emma and Norman uncover the dark truth of the outside world they are forbidden from seeing.Awww The Promised Neverland vol 13 about kills me! The kids had to abandon the shelter as Ratri’s men had found it. Lucas and Yugo stay behind because they’re the only ones who can kill another human being. I thought this was a fascinating idea, that kids would freeze in the face of another even one trying to kill them. We spend several chapters here and I think it was well spent time. There is no doubt what happened and we needed that kind of closure of this kind of goodbye.Andrew was so scary it verges on horror. We’ve been missing a hint of horror so it was welcomed change, and not your typical twist. I think the end of this arc was most satisfying than if the kids had gone against their nature. And I was impressed with Ray’s revelation as I didn’t think about that owl. The younger kids taking action impressed me too. I love how everyone has an arc.The Promised Neverland vol 13 doesn’t disappoint... but gives us different twists, shocks and turnarounds. We meet some new characters that are going to mix things up for Emma and Co. We don’t know whether this is a trap or not but whatever comes they’ll face it and keep moving toward their dream.

YUUGO. LUCAS. YOU ABSOLUTE MAD LADS. These guys really are the dads the children needed and deserved. I adore their characters. Andrew was interesting enough while he lasted, too. 5 stars. The pacing of this volume was way better. I felt all the emotions possible. I was on the edge of my seat, reading and reading. Definitely a great volume with great twists and a great cliffhanger. Can we briefly have a moment of silence for Norman being back in the cover of the manga? Thanks. Why is there a chapter named mourning? Why- oh no...My heart is soaring. Remember when Yuugo didn’t even know the kids by name and he like was emotionally unattached? Yeah me neither. Look at him 5 stars. Look at him now, being all, “We must ensure those kids’ safety” I’m fine...Also, Yuugo and Lucas working together, superior duo. Fight me. They’re kicking ass.Yuugo saying, “I lost everything. But got something back I could never have dreamed of.” I love this development. Yuugo remembering that Lucas and he promised that they’d be together until the end.*mmm watcha sayyy* I’m... BITCH. I totally forgot about the self-destruct thing I... THEY BLEW THAT BITCH UP. I can’t believe they held that promise to be together to the end, so... literally. They really sacrificed themselves to give Emma and the others a chance. WE THANK YUUGO AND LUCAS FOR THEIR SACRIFICE, TRUE LEGENDS.Emma dreaming about Yuugo giving her advice, and realizing he’s dead... right in the feels. But it’s fine, it was all okay after that moment when Lucas wakes Yuugo up and he gets to reunite with his family. Did it hurt? Yes. Am I sad? Yes. Am I happy for him? Also, yes. Emma never fails to be a goddamn ray of sunshine. I love my daughter. Oliver gives Emma a note that Lucas had given him. In the note, is a message “Minerva” left in a call. He wants to lead a revolt to set the kids free, all of them. Honestly it could be anyone who sent the message, if Minerva’s not alive. Hello, can Norman please make his way to the page? We haven’t seen him in a minute, I’m just saying. What’s he up to? It’s been almost two years. He could be doing literally anything. I want to know how my son is doing. Is he okay? Has he been helping his family some undercover way? Also, that damn owl. Is it good, is it bad? Is it going to help, or has it already harmed? I don’t know. But... Norman? Is that you??How is this mf (Andrew) alive? And it HAD to be Andrew, it just had to be him who liv- literally how? He really had to kill another one.. can hE NOT. Omg, Harvey Dent, is that you? I’m sorry I had to laugh. Who invited the knockoff Harvey Dent? He’s like the asshole version and- have y’all seen that meme of the girl in a purple shirt trying to hold back laughter and failing? Cuz that’s me right now. He was really out here coming for Mama’s brand, aiming for the leg. I was emo that Ray was so ready to kill Andrew. But my prediction became a reality and I’m happy. His last words really were “You are beings meant to be eaten” (To which, bitch then so are you?? Dumbass)And he got eaten by a damn demon. Haha, karma’s a bitch. Ray shooting that damn owl to the floor, good move? I don’t know. So Minerva/James is alive. And he broke into one of the mass-production buildings. But the kids there have no free will, I don’t know that they can be salvaged. Minerva looks disturbed and heartbroken seeing what the long-lasting effect of his ancestor’s promise is doing to kids. He frees the kids who can’t be saved. But there was a moment, where he seemed to be pursuing this hero complex. With the children cheering and cheering. It was an odd detail to put in. I guess I trust him, since he has done so much to help the kids already. But, I have a sliver of doubt. I loved seeing that moment of the younger kids helping to collect food. I love how shook Emma and Don were when the kids used Yuugo’s trick and got two whole baskets of food. When the younger kids told Emma and the other older kids that they can rest too, while the rest handle food with their skills. There’s the precious soft content I wanted. Things get interesting when Emma and Ray run into more people. When Hayato just broke into grateful tears and said thank you over and over. And THEN they realized they were saved by humans. Don and Ray’s reactions were *le sigh* was pretty funny. Jin and Hayato reveal that they have been searching for the Grace Field escapees (while screaming) under Minerva’s orders. The little ones hugging Jin and Hayato for coming for them- precious. Things take a turn for the worse when Cristy’s condition goes south. But Jin and Hayato have a way to save him, using the resources from an abandoned farm. That’s a good cliffhanger, dare I say.

I feel that plotwise we are at a turning point and every single thing that happens is essential and interesting .However, regarding character development, I am disappointed about Emma's lack of choice. Well...they died, not really surprised to be honest, I wish the did not but anyways. Ehm, sorry but this "Minerva" seems pretty sketchy to me, thinking that maybe he is an impersonator of the original Minerva; no way he would have have survived if it was his own brother that led him to his death, of course he would have made sure that his brother was dead or captive in really secure conditions. This "Minerva' in the way he was depicted seems to want to take advantage of supposedly saving the cattle children so as he rises in power... It seems really convenient that Emma, Ray and the rest just "stumbled" into humans and apparently Minerva's subordinates. or I am just reading more into it than I should have.

I was anxiously waiting to pick this book up because the previous one ended on such a cliffhanger and was a great read. However, this one was a pretty big disappointment until the end. Perhaps it was because it has been longer than normal between the last book and this one that I read but I felt that it took longer to get back into the plot. The ending makes me want to keep going in the series but the first 95 percent was not the best.

I also respect that each new arc is very different - either questing, finding a shelter, or just escaping. Originally, it felt like the book would be all about the kids plotting to escape - a manga version of Gilligan's Island. Then it felt like they would be traveling forever, trying to get out of a bigger prison - then they found a shelter. Now that the shelter was lost, it is back to questing but always with a purpose and direction (or misdirection) from Minerva. It makes for some interesting world building and a compelling tale.Story: As the kids escape from the raided shelter, bad guy Andrew from the Ratri clan is forced to deal with hold-outs Yugo and Lucas. The escapees from Glory Bell will do their best to buy time for the kids to escape and kill off all the attackers so they cannot follow. Emma, meanwhile, leads the kids to the forest shelter they had found earlier. But she knows it is only a temporary solution and soon they are on their way following clues by Minerva that lead to a place called the "jaw of the lion." What they will find before then, however, will bring stunning new revelations. One of the best aspects of the manga is the contrast between suspicious Ray and Hopeful Emma. It's a good balance that provides a lot of avenues of storytelling and shown to be important to their successes. That duality is added to with Grand Valley escapee Oliver, who adds his quiet thoughtfulness and martial knowledge to the mix. These three leaders hold their positions by dint of abilities rather than from coercion or age. With this volume, we get two major surprises. One has to do with learning more about the rebellion outside of the farms and another has to do with what the kids find when approaching the jaw of the lion. As with previous volumes, the artwork stays consistently solid and tells the story well. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.

how is it even possible to end every single volume with a plot twist? amazing. It's still very frustrating that Emma and the kids all survived the demon park without anyone dying but it was freaking monsters with human faces who brought the most despair..

Until then I just might have to enjoy a tea party of my own!

It's because she reminds me to keep the faith, especially as the really world begins to mirror fictional dystopias day by day. Wow, this volume really packed some emotional punches. For the last few books, I had been starting to think that the survival rates in this series were a little unrealistic, but boy, they did not hold back on this volume. This series is as ever well crafted in characterization, plot, and art, and I'm really excited to see where it goes.
