Smoke And Mirrors (Harem of Freaks Book 3)
The hardest part of being ringmistress? Juggling my feelings for three men. Connor, my stubborn protector always battling his demons. Hunter, the dashing wolf shifter who sends my heart into overdrive. And Razvan, the dragon I wish I could stop thinking about. What was supposed to be a fun, lighthearted date turns into a shocking discovery about myself. I wasn’t ready for this, and I’m not sure I’m up for the responsibility this discovery brings me. I’m so consumed by the shifter visions in my head, I don’t realize how much Connor is hurting. He’s walking down a dark path and this time, I’m not sure if even I can save him. Step right up and take a front row seat to my heart breaking. Smoke and Mirrors is the third volume in the Harem of Freaks series, which should be read in order.

I'm loving where this series is going, this book just adds more to it, picking up straight where the last book left off. More details, more background, more characters, more heartache, more love, more growing and building of relationships. I love how realistic it all feels, I really care about these characters and their story. I really loved it and am so looking forward to the next book.

I could not put it down for a moment because it just would not let me go. From the first page to the last, I felt as though I had a ringside seat for all the action. So much happened, I barely had time to draw breath.Mel is a wonderful character. So often the main female character is wishy-washy or petulant or childish or sulky but Mel is strong, brave, fearless, and tenacious. She loves with her whole heart and once you're in there, she'll never let you go, no matter what may befall you or what you might say or do. She loves Connor and he loves her but the course of true love definitely does not run smoothly in this book. Her feelings are also growing for the two other men she has met, but again there are hitches along the way.Connor is a stubborn stilt-walking saint who loves Mel and wants what is best for her, even if it hurts him. He suffers mentally and physically, and this time suffering in silence does not end well for him. He is such a caring, giving man and I love him and all his strength and frailties.Razvan is a damn delicious dragon. A tattoed bad boy, he is so loving and gentle with Mel and he won my heart too. He has his own secrets and has not been treated well in his past but his feelings for Mel are (forgive the tired cliché but it's true) making him a better man. He is more generous than I thought he would be, wanting Mel to be safe and happy no matter who makes her feel that way.Hunter, oh Hunter. He is a warm, wicked and wonderful wolf. Wicked with THAT sort of glint in his eye. And sex-on-legs. He obviously adores Mel but is shy at first and looks like butter wouldn't melt then suddenly he turns round and is a sexy bad boy in bed. And everywhere else. He is just downright lickable.I love all three of Mel's men, in case you can't tell, and was so glad to see more of Hunter and Raz in this book, figuratively and literally. The steamy scenes are just that, lots of explicit detail, lots of emotion, lots of everything. We finally learn what Mel is but she is only just coming into her gift and there is much more for us learn as she begins to understand what her abilities enable her to do.If you haven't read the first two books in the series, you definitely should because this book builds on everything that has gone before.Crystal is a fine author, a born storyteller, a weaver of magic, and this book is the best one of the series so far. I am positive that the series will only improve and I can't wait to see where Crystal takes Mel and her men next.

This is the third book in the series, so if you haven't read the first two there will be spoilers for those two books in my review - if you don't want that then stop reading please!!Smoke and Mirrors picks up right after Abra Cadaba - really not much time has passed across the books at all, but I find myself forgetting that until it is mentioned in the book because I am more invested in the story. When I first read Freak Show I had no idea that things were going to turn paranormal - and though I was slightly disappointed at the time (because I was loving the seemingly "normal" characters and circus theme, and Connor being an amputee, etc.) but it didn't take long for me to embrace the shifters, and this book brings in even more of that aspect, as well as some interesting things about Melody. Sometimes Melody's reactions to things irritates me, and I have to remind myself she is only 18 years old to get over it. I like each of the heroes, especially Raz, and this book brings the heat - loved that aspect and am looking forward to more of it, especially the MM that is foreshadowed. I also am highly interested in Raz's past, and looking forward to learning more about a new character too. There were a few aspects of the writing that distracted me - one example bring places where I would normally see the word "had" or "have" either in full or contraction form but didn't in this book (possibly a style or character voice choice since in first person) - but not so much that I didn't like the story overall. I routinely want more detailed interactions between characters on page in RH books, and this book is no exception, but this series is better than a lot I have read in terms of that. Several story threads are lobbed up nicely for the next book, which a note at the end says will be out in January, and I will definitely be reading it.

ONE INCREDIBLY THRILLING EXPERIENCE!!!OMG! Wow! I'm not sure I have the right words to describe this little jewel. As always Crystal works her magic and doesn't disappoint. With twists and turns, ups and downs, unexpected circumstances and unpredictable surprises around every corner make for one thrilling experience. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it's easy to picture each scenario as they play off one another in perfect balance. The chemistry is white hot, off the charts, explosive. The characters are complex and believable with such depth and individuality it's easy to relate. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive it really makes the storyline pop. I totally recommend this series, you can't go wrong. Crystal did a phenomenal job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Fantastic job Crystal, thanks for sharing this little treasure with us.

I loved the first two books, so no surprise this one is just as good. I loved getting more insight into Hunter, and all the adult times were so hot. Razvan, Hunter, and Conner working well together for Melody’s benefit is a nice change from other RH books. I will say a minor annoyance was the fact that at times, at least one person was being a little childish with their attitude- good news is most issues were resolved quickly. I'm running away with the next carnival!Seriously, this series should just never end. Each one exceeds the last and this installment was no exception. Just when we gain answers to some of our many questions, new questions arise. We see some regression in all our characters and then get to witness the beauty of their growth. The ending continues to leave me dying for more and anxious to see where we end up next. AwesomeLove this series , this book didn’t have a lot progression plot wise , but I think was needed for character progression , and was excellent insight into that aspect of it , there’s conflict between characters that needed to be addressed , and though the plot of the series moved a long a bit , it mostly centered on the relationships . I enjoyed getting a better understanding and look forward to the next book .

I felt this one was more angry than the others. It focuses on their growing relationship while subtly moving the story forward. I really loves these men. 💜 I can wait too see what the tiger as in store.
