Great intro book for female entrepreneursAfter making millions selling essential oils, Lindsay Teague Moreno found her true passion in life was to inspire female entrepreneurs. In her new book, she takes the lesson she learned as a serial entrepreneur to share her 10 successful philosophies to help other mothers realize their dreams. What I first fell in love with was her discussion on finding your thing and thinking long-term. She perfectly explains how to figure out what you want to do and how to think ahead towards scaling up to a multimillion-dollar company. I took pages of notes on these topics, and I think my business will be better for it. After that, many of her success philosophies get more into ideals than actual items. I'm a checklist kind of girl, so I grew tired of the vagueness and would have loved a bit more concrete "Go get them" attitude. All in all, a decent starting point for female entrepreneurs (moms or not) that definitely gave me some great ideas for my own blog. The introduction and the first chapter felt like a long introduction and I found myself wishing it would get to the point. But no worries; it gets good, really good, specific, immensely helpful and informative from then on.Also, I know many people loved the footnotes (there are funny, entertaining footnotes in practically every page), however, I found that they hurt the flow of the book. I would have preferred to have them included as part of the main text. This two minor details aside, I would recommend this book to every woman, especially moms, dreaming, hoping, planning, detailing or already working on their own. It will help you streamline your ideas, have a thought out plan, branding, target market and marketing ideas, among other equally important business foundations.Boss Up! is full of motivation and support, that many business books lack.I received an early copy of this book from the publisher, but this is my honest review.

I'll be honest - I thought the cover was cute, so I requested it. I'm not familiar with the author; I assumed this would be a generalized women-in-business book. Filled with truth. It’s time for women to stop apologizing for who we are and learn who we are. I was blown away by the mindset of the author. “Self-confidence is the secret weapon to your business success. Be unapologetically who you are. Be strong enough to like what you like. Be confident enough to say what you mean. Take up space. Be too loud. Be too much. Be you, and don’t apologize for it. You didn’t do someone wrong by being yourself. I really enjoyed this book on business management from Lindsay Teague Moreno. I was not familiar with her businesses or other book, but I am glad I took a chance and read "Boss Up!" I also found myself highlighting sections for my own personal use.Moreno has a friendly, honest and funny way of speaking to her audience. While I am not a "mompreneur " ( as Teague lovingly calls her tribe), I felt included and encouraged by the steps that were practical and useful, thanks to Teague's sharing her missteps and victories in the book. Each chapter brings the reader back around to the reason they began their work/business and then gives the how to continue growth and expansion. Teague is affable, vulnerable and at times, I found myself laughing out loud at her wit. She also is very much a truth teller, even when it hurts. There were hilarious stories of her parenting journey and how it applies to her business life, which I could relate to! There is a lot of sage business advice, amidst the laughter and the challenges of Lindsay's life, which means it can reach across age groups or stages of business growth. This book is helpful for women who straddle the line between business and home, attempting to balance it all. The truth is, we are all learning and trying the best we can to make our businesses successful, and that requires a will to learn, opportunities for growth, and encouragement to persevere. You will find that in "Boss Up!" This is a real world, honest gut punch to those who think running and maintaining a healthy business is easy--it requires a great deal of commitment and grit to see a return on your investment. While I wasn't specifically the target market for this book, I learned a lot and was excited to be a part of the launch team for this book, thanks to Thomas Nelson publishers. All opinions are my own and I chose to leave a review.

I've been a stay at home mom for 17 years now. There have been several instances over the years where I have wanted to turn my interests and passions into a business. I haven't worked up the courage yet. This book was wholly inspirational. At times funny, this gives a realistic look into what it takes. It made me want to take my business degree and finally do something with it. Highly recommend this one!

Just the visual reading is still beneficial - but this is going to be valuable as a workbook. For anyone thinking this book might not be for them: IT IS. LTM identifies her target market yet writes for everyone. I am definitely NOT her target market. First of all, I've retired from one career already, and my children are adults with successful lives of their own. So I am not a "Momtrepreneur".Second, I was not the Mom that wanted more from life than to be a mom. In fact, I fit the description of LTM's sister-in-law to a "T"! "Her kids came into her life, and they changed her in the best way possible - in the way she's always dreamed. They gave her life purpose, meaning, and weight. And from the time they arrived, she knew that "momming" was her calling in life."But that doesn't make this book any less relevant to me. And it is that very universal relevance, that ability to reach far beyond her target market, that makes this book and the lessons contained inside so powerful.Basically, LTM wants us ALL - female, male, mom, not-mom, to be successful business people and to learn from her experiences. Why make the same mistakes she did when she can help us zoom past those pitfalls? If that isn't the quintessential "Mom" I don't know what is. And it feels good to know that Lindsay cares enough to share herself with me so that I can skip some of the problems she worked through already.I have new ammo for the internal war waging inside me now thanks to LTM. When I want to apologize for taking up space, or for doing well, or for any other thing in which women of my age were taught to step back, sit down, and be quiet, Lindsay helps my brain fight the deeply rooted instinct to "not be a bother". And I need that. Lindsay gives me reminders to have courage, be fearless, and forget the haters. In the midst of all this, Lindsay is giving us all tools to set ourselves up for success in any business venture. The reminders to rise above the culture war in our head and our social media are just icing on the cake.As a devoted fan of the Boss Up podcast, I've been waiting for this book, and it does NOT disappoint! This will be a book that is read and re-read as I work through the bits and pieces of growing my business. And when I need a reminder of my value and worth outside of and unrelated to the business, it's this book that I will refer back to. I consider it a success when I change out the negative self-talk with Lindsay's voice. She tells the truth, unapologetically, lovingly, and with the clear desire to help her reader succeed.

I like a book that gives it to me straight, one that doesn’t make me feel like I have to sit in a circle and hum, searching for my inner woman, before I can focus on taking real steps towards succeeding in business. It’s evident that the author’s approach to entrepreneurialship is based on her actual experiences. It’s not a rehash of tips she’s picked up and combined to call her own as I’ve seen in other books. She shares the details of her wins and her losses, the struggles she faced, the lesson I like a book that gives it to me straight, one that doesn’t make me feel like I have to sit in a circle and hum, searching for my inner woman, before I can focus on taking real steps towards succeeding in business. It’s evident that the author’s approach to entrepreneurialship is based on her actual experiences. It’s not a rehash of tips she’s picked up and combined to call her own as I’ve seen in other books. She shares the details of her wins and her losses, the struggles she faced, the lessons she learned, and lays it all out in a way that most anyone can find relatable. She then sets out a practical, step-by-step outline to help guide the reader’s focus to dial in on their own personal approach and business style. That being said, “Boss Up!” is more than an entrepreneurial how-to book. While it is packed full of straightforward and practical business suggestions, it also addresses challenges we face as moms in business and as women in general. To be honest, when I first started the book, I wasn’t sure it was for me. My kids are grown, and it started out as though it was going to be a book aimed toward moms of young children. However, that concern soon passed as I got into the meat of the subject matter. This book isn’t just for “momtrepreneurs” -- it’s for any woman who wants to learn and grow, both professionally and personally, written from the perspective of a successful woman who enjoys the subtle humor of a little sarcasm as much as I do. If you are looking for a book that offers a solid business guideline...one with little humor bombs intermingled throughout...one that keeps it real and leaves the warm-fuzzies out...then this is the book for you. I don’t often pre-order books, but “Boss Up!” will be in my Barnes & Noble cart -- I’ll be rereading it in hardback so I can pencil and highlight and earmark the pages and make it my own.NOTE: Having previously read “Getting Noticed” by Lindsay Teague Moreno, I was looking forward to her newest book, “Boss Up!,” due to be released sometime in August. I was given the opportunity to read an advance copy of “Boss Up!” from the publisher through NetGalley. My review is based off of my personal opinions and thoughts.

Lindsay is an amazing virtual business mentor for me, and she’s built quite an empire, starting and raising up multiple successful businesses in a short period of time so she’s certainly earned the right to speak into this important topic for women. Full of helpful content including hands on exercises to really look at and hone in on your particular gifting, skill sets, and passions, this book really has me thinking through business foundations that I hadn’t considered before. Also, Lindsay’s personality, authenticity, and sense of humor come through in her pages, inspiring me to lean into who God made me to be in every area of my life, including my business. Another thing I love-she doesn’t tell me how to do my business because she wants me to do it my way based on who I am and what I want my business and my brand to mean and be. Her experience isn’t the same as mine. She felt unfulfilled in motherhood and so pursued this business and calling to mentor and encourage women in business in addition to being a mama. I don’t feel unfulfilled in motherhood-it’s my absolute joy and privilege and I love it all, so my business began from a different place. Despite this difference, her book encouraged me where I am. This speaks volumes to her ability to encourage mamas across the board in all kinds of situations, backgrounds, and experiences. I can hardly wait for my hard copy coming in August-(yes, I pre-ordered through amazon) the digital copy left me wanting to underline, annotate, and have this book in my hands! So, to all my friends who are entrepreneurial boss babes or who think they might want to be, someday, check it out! #bossup

For a business book especially, this one is a page turner. She keeps you thinking, laughing, and crying from start to finish.Lindsay is not even kidding when she says "This Ain't Your Mama's Business Book." This is real life; the stuff we don't want to acknowledge as mom's who want more. I have owned my tax strategy firm as a single mom for the past 13 years and read many books on business, how to grow, how to increase sales and profitability, and even a couple on "balance," most in a way that makes your eyes gloss over. Lindsay's book is so much more practical, entertaining, and relatable. I mean seriously, who cannot instantly remember what it feels like to step on a Lego when they read, "There will likely be a few things you're good at but hate doing - that you'd rather run a marathon barefoot on a Legos path than do." This book is about getting real about who YOU are and how to allow yourself in your life to grow and thrive in business, even as a mom or a wife. Even as a seasoned business owner, there were so many things in this book that I can use to better my business and help my clients with theirs. By the second chapter, I realized a long time dream of becoming a travel writer could still become real and I have already started working the steps outlined in Lindsay's books to launch this business. I can't wait for my hard copy! This is the best investment mom's who want more out of life can buy, and hey, if you already have a business, it's tax deductible!

I went from being super independent and living on my own to needing help and living back with my parents. At 35, I sometimes feel like I’m a failure bc of it. Reading this book, I began to lean in and answers questions “pre-sickness” rather than “pre-mom” life. I was floored. I thought I had allowed myself to accept the new normal of life. Thought I pushed myself to live the best I can, working full time. But what I have realized is, my actions have been living...working and doing the daily expected things but my passions had somewhat taken a backseat. I faced the reality that I haven’t really been living for the last 5 years. Not the way I want. Not the way I need. I will be reading this book again and again and have accepted the challenge to lean into the difficulties I will face, through chronic illness, determined to live out my passions. The Boss Up book rewrites the rules to the entrepreneurial game. I’ve read other biz books that can be boring or too educational in tone, or downright overwhelming. Many times they just don’t lead me to take action. This book is entirely different. The author explains how to build something that’s sustainably real; how to do what she did and find our own success. You know those people that give you a recipe but leave out their secret ingredient because they want to share only part of the greatness with you? That’s not what you get in this book. Lindsay Teague Moreno gives the full recipe, with exact measurements to serve as a gauge when you get busy on your biz. The instructions outlined in Boss Up will set you up for the win. Get your pen ready, you’re going to do some real work in this book.Lindsay's story is endearing. I cried and laughed my butt off. The footnotes are my fav. Her conversational style of writing makes you feel like she’s right there chatting it up and holding your hand as you take the big leaps towards your business. When I got this book, I was sitting in my car, crying because of my entrepreneurial hang ups. I just felt like I wasn’t going to get to my biz goals even though I was born to be an entrepreneur. I knew as I was reading that it was time to do the hard stuff. IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK. Going to reread it with fellow entrepreneurs that want to book talk and walk it out together.

Thanks to the recommendation of a friend, I was able to be a part of the launch team for this book, and receive an advanced reader copy from the publisher through NetGalley. This review is based directly on my own personal opinion of my reading. This all started when I reached out to a friend about obtaining an entrepreneurial / business mentor. She knows my passion for reading and growth and expressed to me that BOOKS can be mentors! Honestly, I had never really thought about it that way before. I joined the launch team so that I could begin reading the book right away.I have to say that many times I find it hard to read business books from beginning to end. However, this book really kept me engaged, as it is not your typical rehash of tips that you run into many times. I love that Lindsay shares not just her victories, but her defeats. She presents her journey in a very real and relatable way, including her challenges and the lessons she learned. Then she takes it a step further by providing a practical outline that the reader can personally apply to their situation.Through the pages of Boss Up!, Lindsay Teague Moreno has been able to “virtually” mentor me and provide valuable practical tools to establish a plan to begin to make effective progress with my business. Since my advanced copy was digital, I pre-ordered this book through Amazon so that I could have my “mentor” with me at all times, and fill it with my notes and thoughts as I move forward on my journey.

Being a mother of two grown children and a grandmother of three, I am not really part of Lindsey's momtrepreneur audience. However, for the past three years I have half-heartedly worked an MLM business (and I use the term very loosely!) and have learned so much from Lindsey along the way. Turning 70 this past year, I began to feel the business path was not for me. In Chapter 2 of Boss Up! Lindsey shared about her mother's work ethic and her early death at 53. Her mother had always had dreams of travel and of spending more time with her children. "'Someday I will....' but she died with all of her somedays still sitting on the table, waiting to be realized." Now, that spoke to me! I felt this instant relief--the entrepreneurial path was not my path! And it was okay! Chapter 3 has helped me figure out what is important to me and what my next years are going to look like. I'm excited to continue reading the remainder of the book and will review when I've finished. So whether you are a mom with young children, or a mom with older children, or someone who is trying to find your path, go right now and pre-order Lindsey Teague Moren0's newest book. I ordered mine on Amazon but Barnes and Noble works too! And if you are wondering how I've already begun reading her book, I am a part of her Launch Team for the book and received an Advanced Reader Copythrough NetGalley.

Have a dream? Want to start a business or just build on what you have? Feel nervous, unsure and insecure? Lindsay lays it all out there about where she came from and where she is going- from her passion, ambitions, dreams, goals and the sacrifices she made because she knew what she wanted was possible. She never misleads you to think the life of an entrepreneur is easy - but she makes you believe it is possible. As a mom herself, she knows what it's like to push your dreams aside "for the family" AND she knows it does not have to be like that. She makes no apologies for working hard or being a working mom. (Because somewhere along the line, people made working moms feel like they HAD to apologize?!) This book is not just a bunch of pep talks- it's tangible advice with real direction, action steps including a self-assessment and personal narratives on her own journey. It's encouraging, inspiring and motivational. Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Lindsay for an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The unique use of story lines and questions make it impossible to just skim through; it commands your attention and insists on intruding into your inner most hopes and dreams. I found myself often deeply pondering and searching inside for answers, trying to resurrect the dreams that I had let go of a long time ago. It shook me from my lethargy and made me uncomfortable, showed me a mirror of my past and most importantly gave me a vision and a clear path to my future. While sharing a bit of her history and being very vulnerable, Lindsay spoke of her mother and this line now haunts me: "She died with all her somedays still sitting on the table waiting to be realized". Oh how close to home this hit! I too have so many hopes and dreams and now have a way to not allow that to be my destiny. This book clearly outlines the path I must take to ensure that my dreams are not just wishful thinking. This is not a book, its a course to whatever future you want to create.

Lindsay has an incredible capacity to lower her walls and let you into her most intimate moments as if you are living them yourself. Knowing her background makes me even more motivated to use the tools she provides to learn about myself so I can advance my business to new heights. I appreciate that Lindsay walks you though the steps to build a strong foundation for your business plus gives examples helping you narrow ideas down. This is without a doubt worth the read!! I would recommend getting the actual book (pre-order for now) for reference back to the exercises provided and what thoughts you wrote down. I’m excited to apply what I’ve learned about myself and the detailed techniques to get the most out of myself and my business. I was provided an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. Can’t wait to get my hands on a printed copy once released.

Sometimes the hardest part for me is just knowing where to start and she did that for me. She got me started. I simply cannot wait to get my hands on the book and fill in all the blanks. I can't wait to give it out to some of my business leaders as gifts. Thank you Lindsay for this amazing book. Thank you for reminding us to be unapologetic and brave. Thank you for reminding us it's okay to want more than to be a mom. Thank you for reminding us to be open and honest about that with our spouses. And thank you for all the technical/behind-the-scenes stuff!!

I read this book - in ONE DAY! This is hands down, the best business book I have read in a LONG time. I am impatiently waiting on my hard copy so I can mark it up and put it to good use! So many truth bombs are shared in this book. It's a book that truly makes you think - about where you are currently, and where you want to go. It doesn't matter what your age or what business you are working on - there is something in here that will give you a fresh insight! This book...it's different! "Boss Up" gets into the nitty-gritty of building your business and yourself, with lots of laughing involved so you actually enjoy the process! I am older, I've raised my children. Makes no difference, this book still speaks to me! It doesn't matter what business you are in - "Boss Up" will help you gain clarity and focus. This isn't a book to simply be read and put on the shelf. You must commit to work through this, truly invest the time and be 100% present. Get real with you and work this book. When you need a refresher, pick it up and refer back to it over and over again. You must have a hard copy of this one. I sincerely love this read and know I will use it repeatedly! Highly recommend! #bossupbook

Too many people are looking to be told what to do instead of figuring out how they will innovate for themselves and make their product or service stand apart from their competition. Lindsay Teague Moreno breaks down for the reader the bigger picture of starting a business all the way to growing and nurturing it to maturity through true mental engagement. She shares a raw, humorous and realistic side to experiences every level of entrepeneur will face.BossUP! is fun, engaging, emotionally stirring and thought provoking! I am already planning a re-read to pick up things I might have missed the first time through and make notes. As a newer entrepeneur, my limited experience echoes Moreno's and is reassuring that I just might be doing something right. I recommend this book to anyone, but of course mostly her target female audience, and will tell you to add it to your library as a reference must-have!
