Years ago, I can remember seeing the video of this brave young man and the love of his life helping him walk to get his diploma. Then, I read the back story and it was so heartwarming. I thanked God for all I have and thanked God for them. They hadn’t given up no matter how difficult things were. Fast forward to 2019 and I’m again reminded of this amazing young couple. Then, I read the back story and it was so heartwarming. I thanked God for all I have and thanked God for them. They hadn’t given up no matter how difficult things were. Fast forward to 2019 and I’m again reminded of this amazing young couple. I read their book and have had to wipe my eyes a few times. They were such an encouragement already, now they’re loving all of these kids from various living situations who haven’t known pure parental love until now. I really enjoyed this book and I’d recommend it for anyone who thinks they have it tough. The 7 Longest Yards is outstanding and definitely deserves to find a place in your home and heart, just like the kids in the Norton household.

If you only read one book this year—this is the book! I’m absolutely in love with Chris and Emily. I love Emily’s open vulnerability with us. You go to a medical doctor to treat ear infection, the same is true for mental health. Getting help is the answer, we just need to see our questions.

Injured while playing the sport he loves, he’s now a quadriplegic with no feeling or movement below the neck and told he has only 3% chance of ever walking again.....Which sets out his journey to prove the doctors wrong and to prove to himself he has what it takes..Along his journey he meets Emily - a beautiful soul with a passion for helping troubled youth. They fall in love and work hard, together, to get Chris to walk across the stage of college graduation..But, as with any love story, theirs is met with ups and downs. However, God’s love is unfailing and unfaltering... and it takes a lot of God’s help to walk down the aisle...•OPINION: Full disclosure: I have been a Chris Norton fan for a very long time. In fact, it was his foundation that donated the equipment to @childserve where my nephew (who has a rare condition called #JoubertSyndrome ) learned to walk! Because of people like Chris who donate equipment to places like ChildServe, others are offered the opportunities that he had..This was a powerful story of two people who are living a life well beyond their actual years of life. The way they have faced adversity is remarkable. God’s love is evident in their lives! Emily, especially, was as open and vulnerable as I think is possible. I loved this story and was moved to tears. Bravo, Chris and Emily!•STAR RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
