I read My Hero Academia Vol. 22 as individual chapters on Viz's Shonin Jump Site. This volume continues the plot started in the last one; with all of Class A and Class B separated into teams (but not mixing the classes together) and having them face off against one another. It's a great way to see how Class A has improved, and it also gives us a chance to learn more about Class B and their abilities as well. There are a lot of great fights here. But the biggest thing? Bakugo seems to be actually growing up! I think we all knew that it had to happen, but man is it great seeing him take charge. Granted, he's still got the same 'tude. But that just means he's proving that he can continue to be himself, while making progress in becoming a hero. It's actually pretty impressive.

I thought this one was super cool, because it showcased class 1-b and their quirks! It's always cool to learn about that stuff. There weren't any villains in this one, it's just class 1-a and 1-b competing to show how they've improved. (Or something like that)Also Tokoyami keeps coughing and I keep expecting him to like die or something, because *gasp how dramatic!* but nah. He's just coughing. (view spoiler)[At one moment Komori was choking him out with her mushrooms, but it was fine. (hide I thought this one was super cool, because it showcased class 1-b and their quirks! (hide spoiler)]In other news, the redemption arc for Endeavor is starting to exist, which will be super cool to see where it ends. The ending of the book was very exciting. It seems that the stuff that happened in previous books is being brought into this one, with a change in One for All. I remember hearing something about it in a video, but it's still cool to read it as it's happening. (view spoiler)[The video was talking about something called "black whip", and based off of how it looks, I think this book was the introduction to that. (hide spoiler)] I wonder if All Might is gonna be like "oh yeah that happened to me too" or if he'll have only vague ideas of what's happening to Midoriya. I mean, based off the thing where All Might was like "The vestiges don't really do anything" and later Midoriya had a dream (more of a vision, apparently) where the og carrier of One for All was like "Hey dude you're like 5% of the way or something congrats" after his fight was Gentle Criminal, I have a feeling that All Might didn't really fully experience One for All, or at least he didn't experience it the way that Midoriya is. All in all, this was wack and exciting.

What I learned from reading this volume was that there is a right way and a wrong way to write a fight scene. The problem with the Momo Yaoyorozu team fight was that nothing was learned. We didn't learn anything new about the characters or the story, so it felt like a waste of time. However, this wasn't the case with the Todoroki team fight, because there were flashbacks for Ida and Todoroki which enhanced their characters. Things are getting interesting again, yay! :DThis volume continued where the last one left one; with more team mock battles, but unlike the last one... this one had Todoroki! And Bakugo! I know that Bakugo comes off as abrupt (...to put it nicely), but I really do think that he's a brilliant character and more thoughtful than most would give him credit for. He just needs to learn to control his attitude a bit (...only please don't, because his constant aggression is actually amazing). And then we also got that plot twist/conclusion with Deku, or as I thought when it was happening... "OH FUCK OH FUCK OH FUCK" 8'D Can't wait to see what happens next :|Chapter notes below for reference: (spoiler heavy)(view spoiler)[Chapter 201. (view spoiler)[...A CANNON?--Oooh… Smart. Infrared glasses and anti-mushroom spray XD--Awwwww… All that and Yaoyorozu still lost. Reminds me a little of Shikamaru in the Chuunin exams actually. Definitely has the smarts, and the tactical knowledge, just doesn’t quite have the actual physical power. Still, very impressive. (hide spoiler)]Chapter 202. Good job Bakugo! Excellent leadership skills! :D (hide spoiler)]Chapter 209. (view spoiler)[Bakugo and Midoriya actually have a really great relationship, it’s hilarious how opposite they are - and whilst Bakugo is very… abrupt… and just seemingly a douchebag on the surface, there is clearly so much more to him than meets the eye c:--Uh oh. Why is Gran Torino calling? What’s gone wrong?--What’s happening with All for One? o.o (hide spoiler)]Chapter 210. (view spoiler)[I gotta say, as far as individual quirks go I think that Class B has the upper hand in this one. My Hero Academia, Vol. 22 continues where the previous tankobon left off and contains the next twelve chapters (201–212) of the on-going manga series. The tankobon continues with the joint training sessions with Class A and Class B. Class A won the first round with Class B winning the second one. While Class A has the strongest powers, Class B has ingenuity and cooperation that makes them so formidable. For the third round, Shouto Todoroki has taken the lead. For the third round, Shouto Todoroki has taken the lead. Despite furthering his powers above his father, the team ended in a draw. For the fourth round, led by Katsuki Bakugo made it a decisive win over Class B. For the fifth and final round, Izuku Midoriya takes the lead, hoping to show Bakugo, his friend how much he had improved, but his powers starts going haywire for some unknown reason.Kohei Horikoshi has written and illustrated this tankobon. Narrative wise, this training session seems better than I thought I would. It is interesting to see how much the characters that I have known and followed – and perhaps love has grown both power-wise and mentality. Midoriya's so called advancing powers seems rather interesting. With it going out of control, it seems untimely, but hopefully a chance for growth for Midoriya. All in all, My Hero Academia, Vol. 22 is a good continuation of the series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read what happens next.

This volume is all battle training, and I really enjoyed it. We see more of how the heroes-in-training have improved their ultimate moves and skills, but Bakugo really steals the show. It’s taken me a while to really warm up to him, but I absolutely love him now! He’s grown so much, and I’m excited to see what he’ll do in the future! And that ending!! I don’t quite understand what’s going on with Midoriya and One for All, but I know it’s gonna be exciting!!

Oh god what the fuck. I should have seen this coming. Of course One for All passes down all the quirks but really? Super strength wasn't enough. Getting to 100% wasn't enough for the series no we need 1000 anime episodes and 10k chapters. We gotta find the 9 pieces of the 8 One for All quirks. I should have fucking known. This is where the series goes downhill. Up until this point the series has basically made no mistakes and now its just gonna be drawn out and tedious.

I loved this book a lot! It had many of my favorite characters (Bakugo and All for One) and you get to see how much they have progressed. What's more there seems to be more trouble ahead for Midoriya, hopefully he can figure it out before it's too late!!
