OMGODDDD!! I don’t even know what to say or where to really begin, this for me was like a slow burn, like a creeper it snuck up on me and I found myself devouring this, the feels came at me full force like an electric shock, shocking my body back to life, the outside world ceased to exist. Going into this I didn’t know what to expect, didn’t look at reviews, and honestly I barely glanced at the blurb, but one constant nagging in the background was my need to sign up for this, my need to read this knew no bounds, I needed to get my hands on this and I’m so glad I did..This is so left field to what this author normally releases and personally I think she nailed it!! I can’t wait to see what she brings us next!!This book won't appeal to a lot of you if your hard limit is cheating. But if you can overlook that aspect then you'll love this one as much as I did..Such a unique f#cked up story, this had my heart racing more times than I can count, I couldn't put it down, I didn't want to put it down. And then I reached the ending and I was sitting there flabbergasted, like literally no words described what I was feeling, such a train crash type of read, twists and turns I never saw coming but loved all the whiplash they gave me.Highly recommend!!

Even if it feels like I am talking to myself or rather my laptop- I am excited. Colleen has found a way to capture an all new type of audience and I am so here for it! For anybody (like myself) who has ever wanted to see Colleen Hoover branch out and create something so different from the types of books she typically writes (and for the fans of Too Late), Verity will be the best thing to appease your hunger. I wasn't sure of how much I would like this, being an avid suspense/thriller reader myself, but the way Colleen captured not only Lowen but Verity, I was blown away. I wasn't sure how I would feel about her, reading about her through other people's POV but the way the book is structured - it worked. Especially for me. It made it all that much more fun.Another fun part about this book was Colleen was able to steer away from her more dialogue driven novels, to something much more focused on plot and descriptiveness. Her descriptiveness of the setting is immaculate. I can FEEL the house they’re in. I can feel the eeriness and the complexity of the characters and the way they feel with the things going on. I can feel what all of these characters are feeling not from dialogue but from how well everything is described for us.”You can’t look at someone the way he looked at me—with the entirety of your past—if you aren’t also imagining your future.”Also, huge props to Colleen on making Verity evenly romantic and suspenseful. A lot of times, one trumps the other and I have a hard time liking what the author has done. But the balance was fantastic. I knew what was going to happen at times, both romantically and suspensefully, but I didn’t see the last few things coming and that for me was a game changer!Verity is a character that we meet in a little different way then how we meet most characters. But the way Colleen wrote her was mesmerizing. She made her an unreliable narrator through a voice that I haven't experienced before. Verity was a villain. Whether it was because she wanted us to think she was or because she really was, in my eyes she was a villain.”But when a person finds someone who makes all the negativity in their lives disappear, it’s hard not to want to feed off that person. I fed off Jeremy in order to keep my soul alive. It was starving and shriveled before I met him, but being in his presence nourished my wilted soul.”Verity is unsettling. It's eerie, refreshing, and will have you question almost everything you read. But that's the best part about books such as these right? The constant second guessing. The constant wondering. The constant what ifs and constant thoughts of the story long as you close it. I hope Colleen branches out and does this every so often, because I think this was a refreshing read from her. One that I would be happy to read more of.

"If an attraction is present between two people, those two people can only be one of two things. Involved or not involved. There is no in-between." Colleen Hoover wrote a romantic thriller? WHAT? I had no idea what to expect and nervously turned each page afraid of what might be there. I was like one of those women you watch on TV thrillers that instead of running to hide goes directly toward the danger. After reading the synopsis I already knew that Lowen was going to uncover a secret when she discovered the autobiography. It was torture as the details were revealed gradually throughout the story. I wanted Lowen to take it to bed and sit up all night reading it in one sitting as I did with this story. But, it was understandable that she could only digest so much at a time. The contents were shocking and hard to accept.I found the idea of hiring another author to complete his wife's very successful series to be a very interesting plan. Being that her writing career is what paid the bills, and due to the fact that because of his wife's injury she required extensive medical care, it makes sense, right? But what happened to her? Are you as curious as I was? My suggestion is to just start practicing your WTF? face in the mirror now so you'll be ready when you read this twisted tale. #MindFuckAlert The story is told from Lowen's POV, so the reader is inside her head receiving her thoughts and feelings. But, without knowing the other side of every situation you are left hanging right along with her as she attempts to get to the truth (aka verity). As Lowen assures Jeremy, "There's a word for everything." That might be a fact, but when trying to express how much I enjoyed this story I just can't find the right word. I'll just say it's waaayyy better than "alright" and leave you wondering what I'm smilin' about. 😉

I purposely read at a slower pace, taking in and over analyzing every word. Every situation. Every look. Every breathe. Every truth, and every lie. It was like watching a really long game of two truths and a lie unfold. But darker, and way way WAY more sinister. 😈And that’s exactly what I think Colleen wanted. Dammit. I followed the breadcrumbs into the cave of uncertainty, all the while savoring the feelings of fear and curiosity. This story is about the evils within the human mind. The morbid thoughts we all have but fail to acknowledge. What happens when those thoughts start to manifest past reason and into the realm of possibility, of reality? Verity. Now she’s an enigma. She’s interesting as we get a unique look into the deep recesses of her head via chapters from her unpublished secret autobiography that Lowen discovers and reads. “And here is where it gets real. The guts of my autobiography. This is the point when other authors would paint themselves in a better light, rather than throw themselves into an X-ray machine. But there is no light where we’re going. This is your final warning. Darkness ahead.” YOU’VE BEEN WARNED.Yet as cunning as Verity seems to be, I think she failed to account for one thing: human rage. It’s a crazy thing. Totally unpredictable. Fickle, and never consistent. Vengeance rage is one thing. Yet couple that with protectiveness and jealousy and hurt, it’s downright dangerous with a terrifying edge. I don’t want to say more than that.Only read Verity with an open mind. This is NOT like any of the emotional feel-good stories of Colleen’s previous books. Think “Too Late” on steroids. “Verity” is the sweetest Coconut cake made by Asa himself. A little bit of sexy sprinkled with forbidden, stuffed with paranoia, fear, and brutal human darkness. The stream-of-conscious writing style Hoover uses took me into Lowen’s head... where the truth lies buried. Where her quirky and amusing asides keep me guessing to the true nature of her character. At 40% in and I’m still not sure of her. She admits her forbidden feelings to herself, but remains unapologetic but guilt ridden about it. At 68% I’m confused AF and not sure what’s the truth anymore. At 89% I thought I had it figured out but, nope. Not even close. 94% Shocked and even more discombobulated about the truth In the end, I’m a bit stunned. Speechless really. A first for a Colleen book. You’re going to want and go back and re-read passages, just like I did. And I’m still at a loss. I suspected a lot of different ways this story could turn, but not THAT way. For me, at first, the reveal felt anti-climatic. But after stepping away and letting everything sink in a bit, I see it. The clever way the story is told. No one is excluded. No one is safe. Just as we all have the positive reassuring thoughts, this book spotlights the negative ones.Karma and guilt are uncomfortable AF bedfellows. Such as life. So Be It. 4.5 MIND F☠️☠️☠️☠️CK STARS ˜”*°•.˜”*°• Surprise Cover Reveal •°*”˜.•°*”˜RELEASE 12.18.18A creepy thriller right before Christmas...oh joy! 😱.Cover by: @murphyrae_ ...#Repost from Colleen’s Author FB page .Verity is the thriller I'm writing. I'm not finished with it yet, but I will be soon, so the link for the preorder is up. HOWEVER, (this is not a spoiler) the book is about an author who takes over writing a series for another author when that author gets injured. And I started thinking...What if something terrible happens to me and I can't finish writing this book about a book where something terrible happens to the author and she can't finish writing her book? IF THAT HAPPENS, who should I hire to finish writing this book about a book where an author has to hire someone to finish writing her book? Am I jinxing myself? Oh God...👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽me thinks she got herself a bit paranoid from writing this 🙄🤣

This book is a powerful mind bending and emotional story that does have a lot of little plot twists that nearly blew my mind, it's sinister and creepy but I just couldn't stop reading it as it totally absorbed and consumed me. It's been quite a while since I read a whole book in one day but this was just so good I needed to get to the end as fast as possible, because every time I put it down to do something it was on my mind to get back to it as fast as I could.Brilliant plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Great storytelling ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Fantastic writing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I definitely think that Colleen Hoover has found a genre that she excels at and I hope that she will write more thriller and suspenseful romance in the future. I absolutely love this book, it's a total masterpiece of dark and disturbing chills and thrills.

I get a sick thrill over twisted plots that screw with my mind and make me believe I'm actually crazy. I LOVE it when I can hand a book to someone and say "Hey, this book was totally sick and twisted. You should read it. I loved it." THAT'S Verity.Being a long time fan of Colleen Hoover's previous work, I didn't know what to expect with Verity. It's just so different from her other books. Even though this genre is fairly new to her, Hoover writes with an established brilliance like some of our favorite veteran psycho-thriller writers. She infuses every aspect of what makes a thriller truly thrilling and deranged into Verity and did it fearlessly. I love the push and pull of a twisted female character and a more vulnerable one. I love when the male character is somehow at a disadvantage; whether it be because he is unaware or because he's blinded by love. And yes, there IS romance in this book. And I freaking loved it. All of it. Hoover wasn't afraid to push the envelope and take chances. Cheers to her. And what I think she does best with Verity is that she's created a story within a story which keeps you searching for veritas in everything you're reading. It's refreshing and unique. From the first paragraph of the first page to the very last line before The End, Verity will grab a hold of you and keep you guessing. Hang on tight, it's a wild ride.

Verity I love Colleen hoover. She has this type of writing style that draws you into a book binge, where anything - other than sitting on your sofa indulging in her beautiful words - are overrated.I’ve enjoyed all her novels. I loved it! Loved that she’d stepped out of her comfort zone, and dived into something profound - darker.I’ve a black heart myself so I knew “Too Hate” was right up my street. When I read the synopsis to “Verity”, I danced to victory, and couldn’t wait for it to land on my kindle. Tonight, I’d planned on having an early one, but when I saw the cover I tempted myself to read one chapter, and before I knew it; I’d read the entire book.Over in the U.K, it’s almost six o’clock in the morning so thank you, Mrs Hoover, my kids will be up for school in an hour; I’m on route to get off my face on caffeine.I’m not going to include any spoilers in this review as I’ll do the book no justice. All I can say is wow. This book - without a shadow of doubt - has been my favourite read of 2018.As expected it was beautifully written - a gripping romance thriller that quite literally exposed goosebumps to my skin, sent chills down my spine, and had me craving for more.I hope Colleen proceeds to take risks and writes novels like this one because she’s so good at it!If it were permitted, I’d be giving this book ten stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This isn't a book, it's a visceral experience. Colleen's words will reach elbow-deep into your brain and your feels and your fragile little heart, and they will fuck shit up in there. They'll activate triggers and push buttons marked DO NOT PUSH. They'll make your heart race and palms sweat. They'll challenge your courage and moral fiber. Read them anyway. Marvel at their power. Then go play with some puppies or something until their effects wear off.

Which one adheres to the "fundamental importance" of truth? Colleen Hoover immediately plunges you into her story, splattering you with blood and making you feel such intense discomfort and fear as to render you incapable of doing anything with your life aside from reading this book. And when you turn the last page, you won't know whether to scream with rage over how it ends or go find Colleen Hoover and hug her. You won't know what to do with yourself because Verity demanded everything you have as a reader, and now that it's over, what are you supposed to do? How are you supposed to recover? You think you know Colleen Hoover and the stories she tells. As Verity shows, you know nothing of the sort. She BLOWS YOUR MESS OUT with this book. Now. Go read it and then come back here and let me know what you think. Verity is a book we must discuss.
