Sin & Chocolate (Demigod of San Francisco, #1)
Some people are ordained for greatness… Those people usually have a lot of drama in their life. Drama I happily do without. I live in a forgotten corner of nowhere for a reason: there is safety in anonymity. I have enough problems just trying to get by. But when Kieran, a sinfully sexy demigod at the pinnacle of power, crashes into my life, suddenly my whole world is turned upside down. He’s harboring a deadly secret, one that could destroy all he holds dear. He thinks I’m the key to his salvation, and he wants me to help him claim vengeance. He also wants me with a passion that burns my body from the inside out. To ignore him is impossible, but to give in to my desires, even for a night, would thrust me into danger I might not survive.Remember what I said about drama? Now I’m in it up to my eyeballs, and I’m not sure if I should run...or fight.

Let me say this first, I love Ms. Breene’s other books. But this one? Uhm..How to explain it, if you love fantasy or epic fantasy story. You probably know they have tons of pages! Average between 600 - 1000 pages each book. And the first 100 - 200 pages, usually very annoying because the author tried to introduce so many characters and story setting in it, you just put up with it and continue to read because you knew is going to get better later on. In a world that's split between people who have magic and those that don't there is a lot of distrust between the two groups and those who fall between the cracks struggle to survive. Alexis has magic but her ability to see and talk to ghosts isn't really a money maker so she works whatever odd job she can find to make ends meet. Alexis has magic but her ability to see and talk to ghosts isn't really a money maker so she works whatever odd job she can find to make ends meet. It doesn't help that she has two teenage wards to take care of, Mordecai, who is a shapeshifter with a serious illness, and Daisy, a young non magical girl who ran away from an abusive foster home. Life is difficult for the three of them, they're constantly struggling to get enough money for food and Mordecai's medication but they have a strong bond with each other and all appreciate their little family.Alexis is more than happy to live out of the spotlight and she does her best to avoid those with a lot of magic but her world is turned upside down when demigod Kieran crashes into it. Kieran needs Alexis' help to rescue his mother and he's not taking no for an answer, no matter how determined Alexis is to walk away from him.Sin & Chocolate was a brilliant start to K.F. Breene's new paranormal romance series, I loved the introduction to this world and the different types of magical abilities people have. It's always interesting to see worlds where those with magic are out in the open and the way that affects their interactions with normal humans and this world felt very believable in the way the two different groups were often prejudiced against each other. There was a lot of humour in the story which made it a delight to read and I absolutely loved Alexis' little family group. Alexis, Mordecai and Daisy are all dysfunctional in their own different ways but they have chosen each other as family so no matter how much they bicker amongst themselves they will fight fiercely against the rest of the world.Kieran was incredibly intriguing and I'm really looking forward to getting to know him and the six members of his guard better, we see some chapters from his point of view which was great to give us the chance to see what he's thinking and feeling but I was glad he's still quite mysterious so we have more secrets to discover as the series continues. Kieran was definitely an alpha male and his behaviour towards Alexis could be quite stalkerish at times but I liked the way she stood up to him and how she never let him take an inch. The banter between them was great and you can already see the chemistry there even though they haven't acted on it yet.I'm really excited to see where this series goes next. It's going to be fun to see how Alexis copes with the changes in her life since she's started learning more about herself and her own background and I'm definitely looking forward to spending more time with her, Kieran and the others.

Wow, This Is A Powerful & Spirited 4.5 Star Read!! 🌟🍀Ok, so we have 'sort of' single Mum Alexis. He is an orphaned Shifter who has an illness caused by his shifter genes. His medication is expensive but they manage to just scrape enough money together for it every month. He's getting worse though, his pain seems to seep through his eyes no matter how much he tries to hide it plus his cough, it was so bad!😢 Daisy is Human, no magic at all but survival is a life lesson she shouldn't need to know at 14 yrs old. Her Mother was a junkie who had died of an overdose when she was a toddler so she'd survived in 'the system' until Alexis saved her aged 10. Daisy has seen far too much but thankfully it was only seen!! These three are completely dysfunctional but they'll be loyal to each other with their last breaths, they all love each other deeply & unconditionally, they're Family and they'd chosen each other!!🙏💙💕Kieran is a Demigod, he's Sinfully sexy, as Alpha A-Hole as you can get, yet with his face & body most would let it slide. He's clearly not heard the word 'no' often 😂 He loves Guinness, smells of the rolling sea and sometimes his his Irish accent burrs through his deep, sultry scraped voice 😜😎 Alexis hasn't a single clue who's path she's just walked into and if she did she'd probably run crying!!😳 Kieran is on mission when he 'bump's' into Alexis. His crew, his six most loyal & closest friends and colleagues, are hunting for someone to help his Mother! She's in dire straits & so far no one has been of use - then he reads Alexis magic and - Let the 'not stalking' stalking commence!!😳😂 This book was a complete delight. You know going in that you'll have some fun with K.F Breene when she's writing in this genre, what I had forgotten was that she can gut punch you in the feels department so you're choking on your own sobs too!!😱😭 Seriously, I know I'm overly emotional due to hormones, but was that really necessary? 😳🙈 LolI was kept on the edge of my seat by the will they/won't they? Because, my God, Kieran & Alexis are smoking hot together 🚬🔥 I'd like to get to see more of Kieran & the #SexySix interacting normally, like at the pool 😋 *sigh* Only because they all seemed much more relaxed of course 😎 Being half naked has nothing to do with it, Sheesh 😇 I loved that entire scene 💙💕 The frog splat ... That's totally what happens to normal people, well me 🙈😂 Hysterically funny 😂 Hours later, as I'm writing my review, I realised I've randomly giggled all day today and it's because either another scene or snark filled comment flew through my head 😊😂 Now that really impressed me as my memory is notoriously bad!!👍 I need to give a special mention to Mordecai and Daisy because they really kept this book humble in the best of ways! They are both beautifully strong and undoubtedly broken but from their broken places, with each other's help, support & love they've both become stronger, more resilient and are ready to take on their world along side Alexis. It's her that gave them their safety, that first glimpse of unconditional love and guidance!🙏💙💕🍀 #LOTR #SiblingLove #Family There is so much in this story, I can't wait for more to find out what's next! 😊 All of the spiritual stuff through Alexis was completely gripping! The big reveal at the end - 💥 that was my mind blowing up 😳The pacing, world building & characters are so spot on, it was almost as though I'd been there before but I havent, this is brand new and you could feel that freshness too!! It's not a DDVN book, it's not a Darkness book it's a Demigod of San Francisco book, Book 1 and it's thrilling so grab wine for Sin & chocolate for .. Yep, Enjoy because I know I did 😀🎉 🍷+ 🍫Debbie, 1970, UK

Wow! What an amazing story. 💖💖💖💖💖The S&C story was perfect. I love meeting so many new characters and seeing a new world unfold within the pages. All that muscle in one place is enough to melt any girls panties. 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤My favorite part was all the weird, unique one-liners that the author uses (i.e. Mother-trucker biscuit f%&$#%, just to name one of the many) that had me cracking up. I'm going to be adopting some of them. (Thank you to the author for extending my vocabulary.) 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Want to know what I'm talking about? Then make sure you purchase a copy of Sin & Chocolate by K.F. Sin and Chocolate is just so very delicious. Alexis is a strong, sassy, kind, and resilient woman and Kieran is just so crazy tempting. Though both have many issues to figure out between them, the chemistry is hot!! It will be so satisfying when they finally succumb to it. Daisy and Mordecai are wonderful, and the family bond is fun and interesting. Overall, K.F. Breene keeps putting out incredible stories that always seem to be my favorite while I'm reading it. I always fail to express how amazing K.F. Breene’s stories are. She is one of my absolute go to authors and everything she writes is reading gold! I am just not worthy but I will try. “If we don’t push through our fear, we will never learn what it means to achieve true success.”This quote from Sin & Chocolate pretty much sums up each and every one of K.F. Breene’s stories and their resilient, tough, independent female leads. They are always woman who may not have a lot of faith in themselves but are always willing to push through with everything they have and find their inner strength to get everything and anything done to protect the people they love and to do the right thing. She creates a balance in a way few other authors can obtain by making her characters relatable, strong willed, entertaining, humorous, fearful and yet still compassionate and well rounded. In other words, not typical. Not timid. Not hiding and surviving on a man’s coattails. Making their mark on life in the best way that they can and struggling on their own. She weaves these complex worlds that seem so confusing but at the same time she introduces them in a way that allows you to slowly step in. She takes care in her world building but does it slowly so as not to overwhelm the reader (and keep them from being bored with too much too fast or too many unnecessary details). It is an incredible gift. She gives just enough but not too much, all the while leaving little tidbits of information that you think she has forgotten about and only wrapping all of the pieces together when the time is right, usually when you least expect it.Alexis’ story and world is not different. In Sin & Chocolate K.F. Breene introduces us to a world where the world of magical and non- magical live openly, side by side. Alexis is struggling to make ends meet while taking care of her two wards. She fights hard for everything she has but does not understand that her Ghost Whisper ability is unlike anything in the magical community. When a stranger nearly runs her over and begins stalking her, Alexis’ world is turned upside down. She does not respond to situations in the way most people do and that intrigues the stranger. Keiren cannot get Alexis and her mysteries out of his head and so the journey to crazy town begins.I am so in love with these new characters, this new world and the mystery of Keiren’s family. I could not put this book down! I cannot wait to see what unfolds in the next installment! As usual K.F. Breene rocked it!

She listens to what her fans want, she throws in her amazing ability to make you WANT more (via erotica, fantasy.... or just PURE amazing intelligent writing..). I never thought I would be sitting here, having not written a review for months, writing a review on a paranormal romance. But see???? Now I am sitting here, magic and weapons ready, because if that wench of an author thinks she can make me... US wait more than three months for the 2nd book in this series, ... gonna have to go hunting!!!!As someone who uses distraction for her own mental health needs. Who wants intelligent joys and what not to allow herself to float outside and embrace a joy, she has allowed me to do it in spades. Magic and non-magic users live separately, with the non-magic ones struggling to get by on a daily basis.Alexis is a magic user, rated as a low class 2, although she knows she is much more powerful than that, she has the ability to see and talk to spirits and help those that are stuck here cross over. Her mother taught her to keep her magic quiet and on the low down, using it only when necessary. Since her mother died Alexis has lived in the same house she grew up in, in the non-magical quarter, struggling daily helping to raise her two wards Mordecai & Daisy. Mordecai is a wolf shifter who is ill, there's a problem with his genes and got booted out of his pack and left to die. Daisy is a non-magic person, orphaned and brought up in the foster system, she is a survivor. The three are a team, a family, and there is nothing they wouldn't do for each other.Kieran is the son of Valens, a demigod himself. He literally runs into Alexis and can sense the power coming off of her. He has his own personal problem, his mother having died but being stuck in this world, and he is trying to find someone to help free her, and thinks Alexis may be the key. But Kieran can't work out why he is incredibly attracted to her, she makes him lose control like no one else.I loved this story line, it was a fabulous read, gripping and entertaining. Alexis is a fabulous heroine, sassy, fiery, snarky and her powers are brilliant, I was thoroughly hooked in whilst watching what Alexis was really capable of!! I love her two wards Mordecai & Daisy, they make a wonderful if dysfunctional family unit, one Alexis would do anything for.Kieran and his Six are just so awesomely hot, dangerous and sexy and of course being a demigod is so completely out of anyone's league and in the forbidden zone! Kieran's love for his mother was totally endearing and makes you swoon that much harder for him.Fabulous characters, great story line, funny and witty, some great one liners in there that will have you snorting with laughter!! I loved this new world setting and all the new magic and and am really looking forward to reading more about it - a brilliant start to this new series, its going to be a corker!! Highly recommended reading.

I'm DYING inside knowing the next book in this series won't be out for a few more months. MONTHS. It's ok though... I can handle it. I hope.Anyway, about this wonderfully addicting book. It start's off like any normal book might, in a world with a weird mix of magical creatures. Only, K.F. escalated the plot almost immediately with Alexis nearly getting run over by what turns out to be a very stalker-ish Demigod. Don't worry, I'm not spoiling anything here. Long story short, he's hot (duh, he's basically a god) and a little crazy. And the chemistry between these two had me on the edge of my proverbial seat the ENTIRE book!Let me fast forward a bit though, in my real life timeline. I got ready for bed - couldn't put the book down while doing so- climbed into bed (yep, still reading), managed to wake my husband up about 3 times by laughing so hard, and finally fell asleep at 2 am, wishing I had read slower, or re-read chapters just to make it last a little longer. If you haven't read anything by K.F. Breene, here's a little something you need to know. Her books will suck you in, make you feel every emotion, and spit you out on the other side. You'll be left not knowing if the emotions you're feeling are really supposed to be there. All day the plots and characters will stay with you. You may even feel like you belong in her world more than your own for a day or two. That's ok, it happens to the best of us, really.I've gone way off track here, so let me just circle back and say, whatever your hesitation is for not reading this book yet, get past it and give it a shot. You'll enter a world you'll never want to leave, and feel like the characters are a part of your family now.

I loved how relatable and realistic Alexis was, her daily struggles with money and looking out for her wards, was easy to appreciate and gave the story an extra layer of ‘awww’ that wouldn’t have been their if the kids and Alexis’ financial situation wasn’t so dire. I really enjoyed the interactions between the three of them...their family unit was so great and I loved the banter between sassy shit talking Daisy and straight laced studious Mordacai. I loved and hated the slow burn build up between Kieron and Alexis...I mean come on... I wanted a bit more action!!! She’s 25... im..never mind... but we’re all adults here!! Despite a lack of physical interaction there was some serious sparks and chemistry burning between these two! 🔥🔥I’m loved that Alexis was reluctant to learn and develop and even use her powers... which are totally kickass!!! Her spy network cracked me up! I’m looking forward to seeing how alexis’ and Mordacai’s powers and abilities come to use and ultimately how all of the charachters develop and grow within the next book in this series.

I feel like I don't have adequate words to say how simply amazing this book isWhy have I left it so long since I last read a KF Breene book? This was fast paced, had amazing world building, great characters, humour, steam (even if it was frustrated sexual tension!), intrigue and some very heart touching moments. Mordecai turned away toward the fridge."Yes, Mordie, we know she is worth more than a basket of gold and chocolate. But usually we're the only ones." Daisy and Mordacai were two of the best supporting characters that I've come across in a LONG time. I loved how they were so often the voice of reason and provided the maturity that Alexis often lacked! "Keep that egging idea on the back burner," I said. This pair made me laugh and cry, their love for each other and for Alexis was palpable. "Did you fall off the logic truck and hit your head on stupid?" Moredecai asked I absolutely adored Alexis, she is tough, strong, fearless (and when she isn't fearless she does a good bluff of it) along with determined and a full on protective Momma Bear. I was really glad she didn't give in to the hugely attractive but still slightly alphahole-ish Kieran. He may be a sex-on-a-stick Demigod, but he also needs to lose some of the stalkerish, controlling tendencies and earn Alexis' sexual favours. I can't wait until he does because this pair have enough chemistry and heat to power a small country. The plot is a perfect blend of laughs, mystery, banter, peril and a wonderful battle of wills. I loved the slow reveal of many pertinent facts, it was done slowly enough to absorb and assimilate all the information, but quickly enough that my interest never waned. If you didn't have bad luck, Alexis, you'd have no luck at all. I am absolutely in love with this quartet, highly recommend this book and can't wait for the next one to be out.

Although they all have the standard Breene snark, she's created someone vulnerable yet headstrong, young but matronly, strong yet diplomatic, and completely unique in her magical prowess. Breene also has a nice balance between the magical and non-magical in this new world.Breene does a decent job explaining these new magical beings throughout the story by revealing little by little which adds to their character; however I did get a bit impatient at the beginning and did some outside research so I could better understand what to expect out of the characters in the pages to come. One complaint I have is that when Alexis is in a bind and needs income fast, she turns to selling her powers in the same way Penny did in the DDVN series. I can concede that it does add to the development of the story; however I just wish there was a different fallback plan since it's already been done before in her books.Overall, the uniqueness of the main characters really captivated me and I think there is a ton of possibility for this series to be the best one yet created by Breene. Both main characters' powers are very different than other series I typically read which makes it that much more new and exciting to read. As always, I can't wait for the next installment in the Demigods of San Francisco series.

Meet Alexis, the heroine with a magical talent she preferes not to discuss. She’s lived so long under the radar in there s buffer zone that even her wards aren’t completely aware of the extent of her talent. She scrapes by living as normal of a life as possible while trying to take care of her 2 teenage wards, Mordecai and Daisy. Mordecai is an orphaned werewolf with a rare genetic disorder. Daisy is a snarky, non-magical teenager with a quick wit and a sharp, but potentially devious, mind. And lastly, we meet demigod Kieran, the entitled son of San Francisco’s demigod, Valens. Kieran has a problem that only a very strong magical person with special skills can help him solve. Problem is, he can’t let his father know he is trying to solve this problem. That, and he hates his father and is plotting his revenge against him. When Alexis and Kieran first “run into” each other, sparks fly. He’s entitled, and she doesn’t bow down to him. He feels powerful magic from her, but she lives in poverty and doesn’t use her magic. She is a conundrum to him, a puzzle he has to solve. He is unforgettably hot, and he shows up everywhere. He is her new stalker, when all she wants to do is fly under the radar and keep her wards safe. You have got to read this new, hot, sexy, snarky series by K.F. Breene! I can’t wait to see what happens next to these 4 as their lives become more and more entwined.

I love the switching between the main characters (our newly beloved heroine Alexis and our demigod Kieran) to see inside their head, hearing their internal monologues and I’m also hopeful of some side character chapter (The Six and the Wards)The main reason I want the audio book is I’m not great as hearing and feeling tone and reflection when I read a book on my own. I’m more of a visual person and listening to an audio book opens my mind to see the story just like watching a TV Show or Movie but honestly I feel like it’s more because I get to use my own imagination. I probably will edit/add-on to my review once I’ve gotten my hands on the audio book. Some of my favorite quotes – “Was he Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hard-On?” “Batshit and Tiaras” “Mother-Trucker Biscuit Fucker” – OH KF BREENE WHERE DO YOU FIND SUCH WONDERFUL WORDS. I can’t wait for the next one in this series and to see what happens next with Lexi and her wards, and Kieran and his Six.

I particularly like the alternative time line strategy. It can lend to some interesting supernatural world building because the traditional rules do not apply. Reminds me of another magical series that is one of my all time favorites. (Miss you so much Rachel Morgan)Once the story picks up steam, it is full force and sucks you right in. I read the second half of the book none stop. The books ends with a kinda HEA and cliffhanger all in one. Nice touch if you ask me.Can’t wait for the next one! Write fast Ms. Breene!!!
