This was a great start to a new series. I loved the relationship build up between Johnny and Shannon. He tried to stop it but it was meant to be sigh. Shannon - poor Shannon what a life she has led so unfair. That ending! Need the next book. Shout out to the supporting characters - they were great and Gibsie was so funny - what a great friend to have.

Ten starsWow. I don’t even know how to begin to tell you how much I loved this book. I loved that it was so long. I loved that I got lost in a whole other world. There is nothing remotely negative I could say about Binding 13. I was having a bad day and this book made me laugh when I felt like I couldn’t laugh anymore. This book. Oh my god this book. I love Johnny, I love Shannon, I love Gibsie and Claire. I love everything about this book. And it's so much more than a love story. I don’t think I can go back to normal life yet after finishing this epic story! I don’t think I can move on from these characters! How can I even contemplate reading another book when I feel like this? I just want to read this one over and over again until I memorize every single word. I don’t think I can move on from these characters! How can I even contemplate reading another book when I feel like this? I just want to read this one over and over again until I memorize every single word. The book hangover is real y’all and this time it’s MASSIVE.If it was possible to rate this book higher than 5 stars, I would, because all the other books that I’ve previously rated 5 stars have now been put to shame. I don’t know how I can even begin to possibly explain how much I loved it. I’m left speechless but yet have so much to say… does that even make sense? Probably not, because I’m wrapped up in so many emotions right now and my thoughts are a jumbled mess… so just try to stay with me here.I’m not going to rehash anything that happened in this book because you can get that from the blurb… but this story is not your typical teenage angst drama with the standard hot and cold, back and forth plot line dealing with the romantic relationship of the main characters. That kind of story line has been played out so many times and to be honest, I’m so over it. It’s hard for me to put into words, but Binding 13 didn’t even feel like a story. It felt like real life that I had a front row seat to witness. Everything was so gradual but hooks you from the very first page. It’s a slow burn, one that heated my bones, singed my heart and seared my soul. The innocence, the emotion and the purity of the storytelling, where it is all about the story, was done to perfection, but also kept light-hearted with all the hilarity, banter and awkward teenage moments that had me in tears from laughing.Chloe Walsh has never disappointed with her amazing storytelling skills, her phenomenal writing, characters and her ability to captivate her readers and pull them into her books. And that’s exactly what she did here, but added so much more depth and raw emotion than she ever has before. She created a whole new cast of characters that were so thoroughly fleshed out that you can’t help but to submerge yourself into their lives, understand their thoughts and their feelings, and watch them grow day by day. Johnny, Shannon, Gibsie… all of these characters caressed my heart and gave it one hell of a smile. They are definitely unforgettable, especially that little shit Gibsie. That kid was a barrel of laughs and his banter kept this story fun during moments of conflict. And Johnny… if I was 15 years younger and he was real, I would hunt that boy down, snatch him up and never let him go. Seriously though, that boy’s a keeper. He stole my heart and ruined me for all other book boyfriends. (Sorry to my other book boyfriends because I’ve just broken up with ALL of you.) The way he would fiercely defend and protect Shannon had me completely swooning and melted the ice from my cold heart. He was so sweet, so gentle and kind with her, but he was still all alpha in all the ways that mattered.Shannon’s character may have seemed fragile, and yes, she absolutely was fragile, but that girl had strength… because how can you not be anything but strong when you keep taking beatings day after day like she has dealing with bullies and an abusive parent? Ever so slowly, Johnny brings her out of her shell and her character ended up growing the most in this book. Now, here’s the part where I’m going to warn you, but not to scare you away… this book is HUGE. The length of this book is over 225K words. I’ll admit, the page count did frighten me at first, but once I started reading I was glued. Work, kids, husband, housework be damned because I couldn’t peel my eyes away from the pages for a second, and now I’m regretting not savoring it a bit longer. I actually wanted it to be longer, but never fear! It wouldn’t be a true Chloe Walsh book without a cliffhanger, which means I get more of Johnny and Shannon in the next book in the series, Keeping 13. I get to see their love blossom and grow because these two are the forever kind of love, the love you live and breathe for. The epic kind of love. “I think I need you for keeps.” “I think I need you for keeps, too.”

Well I liked this book although I feel like I shouldn't have. For one thing, it's about two teenagers - and that's not my preferred type of read. At the beginning, the h is only 15 and H 17. Whaaaa??? But it's OK - there's no creepy inappropriate underage stuff. And it's a bully book. Again, not my fav thing to read. It is about rugby (Irish rugby), and I do like a good sports themed romance. So there is that. But it's really long - 800+ pages. An EPIC! And then there's the ending. It's a kind of a HFN/cliffhanger!!!! EEEEp! I'm not too happy about the ending, actually. I was little shocked and kept clicking to see if there was anything on the next page. Is that IT?????? Is that ALL??????? After all these pages!!!! Ripped off!So, why did I like it and keep reading through this massive book? Frankly, I'm not totally sure. LOL. But there's just something compelling about the writing and the storyline. The style is kinda extreme detail about every little aspect of the MCs' experiences, and you just get really drawn in. You feel like you're there, and you start to care about these people with their crazy sometimes incomprehensible Irish slang. And I wanna know what happens next! So I guess I'll be reading Keeping 13 when it's released. Hope it's not too far away.

She's a broken soul, very timid and highly emotional. Typically, this would irritate me, but with Shannon, my little heart was breaking for her. Not only was she bullied in school, but she was also suffering at the expense of her father. She moved schools so she could start again, and that's when she meets Johnny - the popular rugby player, from the Academy. Johnny is every girl's dream, gorgeous looking, captain, of the rugby team, popular among his peers.Attending her first day at Tommen, Johnny accidentally lobbed a rugby ball at Shannon’s head causing her to have a concussion. He hadn't meant to get attached to the girl; he only stayed with her that day because he felt guilty, but something in him connected to her. When he realised Shannon was a victim of bullying, he made it his life's mission to protect her, ensuring that it will never be the case for her again. This book was a slow burn. I was rooting for the couple to put their concerns aside, and finally admit their feelings. I loved all the characters ’Gibbsy’ being one of my favourites. This book ended on a cliffhanger, and I can not wait for the next instalment. I’m excited to see what Chloe Walsh has lined up for Johnny and Shannon, and I'm thrilled there's going to be more. I assumed this was standalone, so getting to the end to find out she's giving us more made my day.*****Five Chloe Walsh Stars*****

Boom boom effing boom! What can I say about this book? All just positives! I love how Chloe always managed to get me hooked with all her characters from the start. Shannon, Johnny and their circle of friends will rip you to pieces (either with laughter pain, etc.)! She never fails to pick my emotions and interest with the way she convey the story. I started reading this book the moment I downloaded. Didn't stop till 5am to sleep and then had to continue the 40% left right when I woke up. Hooked! This book is a little different from Chloe Walsh's usual books, due to the fact it is set in Ireland, is entirely YA and doesn't have as much angst. However, there is one thing that makes it the same as her other books - it's brilliantly written. The characterisation was superb and I felt as though I personally knew each character by the end of the book. I loved the slow build of Johnny and Shannon's relationship and thought that Chloe pitched it perfectly for their age. As for Gibsie and Johnny, well I absolutely adored them and their banter, with Johnny the perfect foil to Gibsie's idiocy. I found the Irish words and phrases pretty easy to follow, with enough to make it authentic without adding confusion for the reader. There were times my heart ached for Shannon and Johnny and times when it sang with joy, and I can't wait for the next instalment of what I know is going to be an epic love story of two soul mates.

It's another Chloe Walsh HitI just need to preface this by saying I detest YA romance... So, I liked this one, in my opinion it's better than the Broken series. Although it was almost 900 pages long, it was an easy read in the sense that there was no over the top high school dramatics. The story flowed easily. I also think that there was a lot of this book that could have been written out, some of the details were repeated or just didn't need to be there. This is the reason this book lost a star from me, too many parts that were not needed in my opinion. Although I did enjoy it and found it easy to read, it was almost too easy. I'm not one for over the top drama but there didn't seem to be anything in particular that kept me wanting to turn the pages until the last 15%. I think it was the pure fact of me liking Johnny that kept me wanting to know what would happen with him.Shannon, bless her, she scared of her own shadow and I don't blame her with the past she's had bullying and abuse from her father. But I find something a little off with her that I can't quite put my finger on. She's confident in front of her friends and Gibsie, (some of the things she says surprises me) and she completely looses her shit with Johnny, (even though it was none of her business) who she normally can't form a coherent sentence in front of, but with everyone else she's a scared little girl. She also refuses to let Johnny in and he has to accept that but when he refuses to talk about something she completely freaks on him. I guess I just don't find her character very cosistant at times. She's been through a lot and no one can blame her for being so scared all the time, I feel like the rest of her family could do more though. Her mam is just a complete waste of air but her brother could do more, her dad her her by the throat for God's sake! Johnny is a strange character, forever blowing hot and cold. I understand his predicament with the academy and liking Shannon but he can't keep going back and forth, especially since he knows about some of her troubled past 🤷‍♀️ Johnny is kind and loving though, he's always looking out for Shannon even when his mind tells him to step away from her. I like him, more than I thought I would and more than I like Shannon. His friends are hilarious and I would LOVE Gibsie to get his own book! He'll be my man 😁Johnny and Shannons love for eachother progressed slowly and it was sweet. You could tell they loved each other even if then didn't realise it, but it was a lot of back and forth between them throughout. Shannon was incredibly insecure and doubted Johnnys intentions all the time. Johnny tried his best with her but could only help her as much as she'd let him (which wasn't much at all) I am praying that their back and forth won't go into too many books of the series, I seriously couldn't cope with having to read it for 3 books. The story was a good and well written one, it took me forever to read but I did finish it! 😂 I didn't have faith in myself to get through the whole 900 pages. I'm interested to know what will happen next after that 'cliffhanger' and I will read the next book. As for people saying that it had a cliffhanger? It did but it wasn't huge, not big enough to have me screaming at my kindle. It's part of a series so it was sure to interlock.

To say I loved this book is an understatement, It has ripped my guts out shattered my heart had me biting my nails with anticipation and bawling like a baby all in one phenomenal read.I LOVED SHANNON, I wanted to crawl inside this book just to hold her and shoot everyone else.Johnny well he is the hero and what a hero he is, his friendship with Gibsie is down right hilarious and I can't wait for his story. Shannon's life reads like a horror story from start to finish.I am now completely absolutely obsessed with waiting for book 2. Had I known this was going to end on a cliffhanger I wouldn't have bought it, Sadly I would have missed out on this extremely good read, its well written it flows well its a long story which I loved you could really get your teeth into the characters, then bam we get that horrifying ending, I NEED the next part NOW!!! I literally hate waiting for a book to continue very rarely does the anticipation warrant the wait, so I am either going to forget or its out really soon, Chloe Walsh please when is book 2 out ??The story of Shannon is heartbreaking, its set in Ireland which I loved. A lot of fabulous additions to the book her brother Joey I loved, Claire all characters introduced that you know are going to get their own story.I will giving nothing away about the plot like I say go in blind, it is a YA but I am 53 and I loved it. I just wish it hadn't ended on a cliffhanger...
