Great read if...you enjoy M/M Romance, Hot Scene, Hockey Novels, Drama, and an HEA.Side Note: This was my first Marie James novel, so I didn't know what to expect. The synop grabbed me and the mood I was in pushed me. When I say this book snatched me by the throat and refused to let go, I effing mean it! From start to finish there was drama, sexual tension, and so much manly shit spewing off the pages it was just incredible. I blew off being a responsible adult most of the afternoon to finish. He has him imagining things he's never even thought of before and willing to risk it all for a chance at real happiness. This was another really good story by an author I've come to expect really good things from. I love that she continues to not disappoint. And she really knows how to write M/M. This book is full of so much heat and emotion. It was definitely one I'd recommend.

Had I known this was a High School level story, I never would have requested to participate in the Review Tour. Damon is an 18 yr old senior at his Chicago Prep school. Jonah is the new 24 yr old head hockey coach for the school. Add in some horrible family members, whiny teen teammates and a clingy dude with a crush and these two guys will have their hands full. This does not even take into account that Jonah would like nothing more than to get Damon kicked off the team & Damon would love to see the Coach Kingston lose his job. But that's all "Before". Things change. While the story is well written, it felt heavily laden with unnecessary drama and too many conflicting elements. Dialogue was alright. Interactions were a little single-minded at times. The conclusion implies an HEA but also hints that there may be more to the story coming along. Overall, it's not bad. Fans of YA / Teen / NA and Sports > Hockey would like this one. .Rating: [R] ~ Score: 3.975 ~ Stars: 4==========================⭐ ⭐ **** Disclosure of Material: I received a copy of this book from RRR Promotion and the Author/Publisher with the hope that I would voluntarily leave unbiased and unsolicited feedback. I almost DNF this a few chapters in. Damon is a seriously cocky bastard but he's also pretty messed up. Marie James can write some seriously hot MM stories. This wasn't your average love story, and I love that nothing with Marie James ever is. Jonah and Damon are both relatable characters, though somewhat different in attitude, character and demeanor. Marie James wrote the characters exceptionally well in that I felt like sometimes you might be cheering Damon on, and others you would most definitely be cheering Jonah on, but in the end you can't help but want their love to succeed. I couldn't read Grinder fast enough, and always wanted more of this story. It was a highly enjoyable most definite read in my book!

This book has everything, literally, everything I love and enjoy in a book. Damon and Jonah just became my favorite couple, these two are everything I love in a MM couple. Damon doesn’t want Jonah in his team and he will do everything to get rid of him while Jonah is so confused with the curiosity he has on Damon. There is not a big age gap, both are young, Damon can be immature most of the time but when true feelings start to happen, he can be the most understanding person. I loved that neither of them lost that spark about being young and silly but at the same time they acted like grown men when life happened. Jonah’s and Damon’s story has everything you need to enjoy a read, romance, friendship, heartache, attraction, teasing and lots of hot sex. For taboo lovers, I can’t recommend this book enough, I couldn’t stop turning the pages from the moment I started. And if you haven’t tried MM or Student/Teacher, this is the book that can hook you up to the “dark side. “

Damon Grant has is own problems that he just doesn't want to face and keeps buying them. He's burried his issues down so much that he keeps people at arm's length. Similar to Damon Jonah not facing his problems, even when truths are reveled makes him a man with a very big chip on his shoulder. When these two came together there was an attraction that they both wanted to deny. One being that Jonah has never been drawn to a man, and for Damon because he doesn't want to let anyone in. There are things that are against them from the start. One being that Jonah is Damon's hockey coach, and then there is the fact that they both don't want either to be around. Jonah wants Damon gone, because of his attitude and also because he knows that he won't be able to control his attraction to him. Damon wants Jonah gone because he sees him as a threat, and he knows that Jonah wants him gone. Their fighting adds to the passion that is building between them, with their every interaction. And Damon's suggestive and forward comments are things that start to wear Jonah down. Where there is passion combined with secrets there is miscommunication that can come between them. Secrets on both there parts that has the power to end everything before there is even a chance for anything to start. And when truths are reveled will they've able to come back from them? Is their passion and attraction enough to make them see that there is something there. Or are they just doomed from the start? This one is full of hot as hell moments between the characters. Their chemistry is off the charts, so you shouldn't expect anything less. You dont want their story to end. I found myself hitting the scene hoping that there was more. Be prepared to be sitting uncomfortably while reading this one, due to the panty wetting moments. Even if M\M romance isn't normally something for you, this one is definitely one to read. Because deep down it's a well written enemy to lovers story that needs to be read.

Holy geez where to start with this one. Once again Marie James has just out done herself this time. Coach/ player relationship are always good but this one took the top. I love reading Marie James, this book is no different. I love reading about hockey in my favorite genre. It is written well and the pace is good. Oh God I wanted t smash their faces half the time. There were some points that I wanted to throw the kindle and asl WTF? Then I laughed at the cocky attitudes and had some tear-inducing moments. See all the feels. This to me was the ultimate forbidden romance. Hockey player that is cocky and arrogant and his coach. Jonah comes into the school as the new hockey coach. He is coming off of some really bad things that happened to him and wants a fresh start. He is not dealing well with them. He lost his hockey career because of a bad choice and he betrayed someone he was supposed to love. Now, you have Damon Grant the cocky and arrogant and self-righteous kick-ass hockey player for Chicago Prep. That's right you heard it, Jonah, he is the high school hockey coach. Damon doesn’t have the best life living it the way his father wants him too. What ensues, after all, this is where people won't agree with my review, but first, this is a fiction. Our imaginations are to run wild. Damon is used to getting his way and he is a brat, to put it mildly. When the new coach exercises his authority, Damon puts a plan into motion. Now with that said these two men have a chemistry that is undeniable. They both make mistakes. Damon’s are bad. At the same time we are talking about a teenager, yes I know he is 18 almost 19 but in every sense of the world, he is a teenager and they do stupid things. They are meant to learn from them. Two words frat...frat partyI was always waiting for the show to drop and when it does I was shocked. That twist was brutal. Jonah handled it in a way I never think I could have. That was the only part of this story I feel like didn’t have closure. I felt the secondary characters were not very likable. They were ends to a mean. I did like Lawrence, he was too funny. Some other great thing about this book is that they actually have hockey in it the game is actually played through its scrimmage and practices during summer break then there is both main characters growth, especially Damon. I actually really liked him. Even his cocky arrorgantness. It made him Damon. This book had an ending but it says maybe. That may be where I get some of the other closure. If there is more I will read it. As I said at the beginning of this review, some maybe most won't agree but I actually Liked this book. The premise of the main characters, the sport the setting, all of it.

Jonah Kingston is 25 and the new coach at Chicago Prep after the last one is fired. He is ready to put his foot down and not get taken advantage of by these rich boys who have a habit of getting whatever they wanted after his own life has taken too many twists and turns lately. When Jonah witnesses one of the other players going down on Damon in the locker room after practice he is stunned to see how much he enjoyed it but an altercation with Damon afterwards has Jonah ready to kick Damon off the team. Will Jonah and Damon be able to focus on the hockey game or are the two hell-bent on bringing each other down and will they discover something else in the process?Wow - this is such a great book from start to finish with a few twists to make you wonder what is going to happen next!I liked Damon but it was obvious that he was used to getting what he wanted. His relationship with Hall was interesting for sure and I liked how Hall denied what he was. Damon was confident in himself and set himself a goal in regards to Jonah and was going to do whatever it took to get him.It was obvious that Jonah was escaping from his own past but as the book went on we understood why and stuff just blew my mind. I can't believe the stuff that happened to him and how it really ruined his future and the person responsible just didn't care as long as they got what they wanted. I understood why Jonah had his defenses up after his past but there was something about Damon that just got to him.The tension at the beginning of the book in regards to Jonah and Damon was through the roof especially with each having their own agenda in regards to the other. There was so much friction between the two that you knew it was going to explode and things began to make sense. I was so mad at Finn for what he said to Damon yet the good thing was what came from it.The two truly cared so much about each other but you were freaking out who was going to find out and then towards the end everything explodes with so many other factors. I was shocked at Madison and everything she revealed. The end was great but the author totally has me curious about what is to come!!

It’s a case of enemies to lovers and clashes ensure when Jonah the new hot, young hockey coach comes on a little bit too strong with Damon the equally hot star player and tries to get him off the team. Damon, wanting Jonah gone hatches a plan that will get Jonah fired but it backfires and their true feelings towards each other are revealed. The attraction between the pair was evident from the beginning, they tried and failed to fall for one another, it was hot, super sexy and it was beautiful. As well as trying to deny their feelings towards one another and planning each other’s demise they both have family issues going on, including one very ASS of a brother who I wouldn’t mind having a go at with a hockey stick.I will admit I never used to read M/M romance books it’s always been along the lines of M/F and M/F/M but recently there’s been some hype surrounding the M/M genre so curiosity got the better of me and I decided to give it a try, I haven’t been disappointed and Marie’s take on the genre has been very entertaining to say the least, she knows how to draw you in and keep you hooked to the very end.I should warn you, there is a danger your panties will spontaneously combust.

Will Jonah cave to Damon's advances and give them both the relief they need?HOLY COW, this was soo freaking HOT! This had some sexy times scenes that were scorching! With a lot of drama, some hockey on the side, a few times where you really want to throat punch someone, and a couple that you just want to see make it through to the other side, this story was so good. I have to admit I haven’t read a lot of M/M though this isn’t due to any big moral objection. I just haven’t found many that call to me. I was actually surprised at the variety of emotions this read produced. I fluctuated between extremely angry or very hurt for Jonah at a couple different points. This story comes with a warning, but if you like hot MM romance this one could be for you!! -3.5 Stars- -Diane-

Pure MM Hokey Perfection! I have not devoured a book so fast in a really long time! I loved everything about this book. The entire book is HOT and so well written. I loved the play on an older/younger romance and the fact that is was a hokey story, well, fantastic! Damon and Jonah are just so made for each other. I loved their individual growth throughout the story and the ending was amazing. I loved the villian aspect, I thought it added just what Jonah needed to make some personal changes. I could have lived without Madison, but I think that was the point. Great writing, funny scenes, emotions galore, hot men on skates, passion and steamy by the rinks load this book is going into my favorites/must re-read pile!

This book turned out to more than I thought it would be. Student/teacher books are my least favourite and I struggled with the concept at first. I found my impressions of the characters were off and I had trouble reconciling my vision with the actual characters and they seemed to change dramatically from the start to the finish of the book. Having said all that I did enjoy the read and the little turns their lives took. Don’t let my 3 stars put you off.

This book has it all and more. A great M/M story line. I don't normally read these types of books. But this one was enjoyable from beginning to end. Great story line with two characters who have great chemistry. I enjoyed reading about this two getting together and figuring out what was between them. A very enjoyable book from beginning to end. Marie did an amazing job with this one. Hoping for more from these two. Highly recommend.

M/M is one of my favorite genres. I absolutely loved this book, not only because of the genre but it is very well written with likable characters. Jonah and Damon steam up the pages. Jonah is a new up and coming hockey coach that takes his star player, Damon to task. That doesn’t sit well with Damon and he hatches a plan to get Jonah fired, but it backfires in a major way are their true feelings are exposed. Will they separate themselves from the family drama and let their true feelings shine th M/M is one of my favorite genres. Love it!I was rereading the Cerberus series when this was released and was reluctant to stop just to start on something knew. So glad I did! Love Damon and Jonah so much and really hope to see them again in more stories. If you like M/M romance you really need to read this book. With that extra touch of forbidden it'll keep you glued to the pages until the last word. Now to get over my book hangover so I can finish my re-read

I loved this book. It is a M/M book. Marie James really knows how to take a plot and run with it. Jonah and Damon really light up the pages. Damon takes a broken hockey coach and puts him back together again through humor and being a jerk. I loved that it wasn't all flowers and candy but showed the brokenness of 2 people that needed to find love. This is a must read if you like M/M books. - By Kristina

Typical Marie James, always having to leave me wanting more of her characters! Seriously, I NEED MORE! I was a little unsure of the age of Damon in this one but it didn't deter me from reading because I love a good hockey romance! Grinder of course did not disappoint and I am hoping James continues this story with the next chapter in Damon and Jonah's lives!

Grinder I devoured this book, Jonah & Damon's story ticked off all the right boxes, I didn't read the blurb so the ending was surprisingly sweeter than expected. Lots of feels here, I think you'll enjoy their story very much.

Grinder is a great M/M student/coach love story. Jonah is the new hockey coach, and Damon is the team captain who pushes all of Jonah's buttons. Their chemistry is off the charts. The only thing they have in common is the family drama. Great story!

I enjoyed this book but it was a little strange for me that one of the MCs was still in high school...
