This was my first book by this author, but it won’t be the last. Gabe Parker is the HOT, star college running back and he’s definitely going places! He seems to face setback after setback on his way to the top. But those setbacks led him to Callie and Sea Spray where he finds way more than he bargained for. Callie Anderson has been burned by summer boys before she’s not giving anyone the benefit of the doubt. She has a lot going on, and a lot of responsibilities that take up a lot of her time. Gabe was my favorite character because he wasn’t the typical jock. He was kind, caring, and a genuine good guy. I wasn’t too fond of Callie, for the sheer fact she’d say something then she’d go back on her word. Sure she had a lot on her plate and a lot to deal but that doesn’t mean she gets to be unloving and mean. I thought there were good secondary characters. I’m intrigued about Banger and his story.

I loved all the POV's, not just our hero and heroine. I loved the chasing of Callie. Gabe's character was really sweet, hopeful of everything he wanted and was feeling for Callie. He knew she was meant to be such a big part of his life. My heart was crushed so many times in this book, but I knew to get to their HEA, it needed to be stomped on a few times, then pieced back together. You'll get a crazy ex girlfriend, the life issues when becoming a famous athlete, the family love and devotion, the love that Callie and Gabe have for each other, the steaminess....Gah, I loved everything about this book, and the cover is just so perfect that I will prob get the paperback.

Catching Callie is a sweet New Adult romance but with some extra heat thrown in to keep you wanting these two lovers to find their HEA.Both Gabe and Callie have heartache and family dramas to deal with along with trying to give their new romance a true chance. The last quarter of this book will have you tearing up and struggling with emotions, especially for Callie. This story is told randomly from their POV and it even has a couple thrown in from an evil character trying to manipulate their relationship. Finally, I loved how the author allowed these two characters to follow their individual dreams to eventually find their happy ever after.Quote: “I don’t want to be that girl anymore – the one who gets left behind”

This is listed as a new adult title and I think when something is marketed toward that age group that author has a responsibility to write safe and realistic sexual content. Young women are going to read these books and it’s going to influence their expectations in relationships and with regards to sex. I don’t think this author did a good job on that front. It’s those disappointed feelings that are spurring this review.I spent much of this book wincing and staring at a ruler in disbelief. Before I get started I want to say this book needs to come with a don’t try this at home label. At 9% the author describes Gabe's dick as “thirteen or fourteen inches and thick as fuck.” I mean, uhm, wow, it’s not often a dick leaves me speechless. Perhaps the book should have been labeled as fantasy! I’ll admit, I was quite intrigued by the size, I took to my good friend Google for more information. According to this Wikipedia article, the biggest penis in the world is 13.5 inches. If I was writing a book about the biggest penis in the world, I would at least include that tidbit in the synopsis. If you scroll down to the anatomy section of the Wikipedia article, you learn this interesting tidbit, “when becoming and being erect a large amount of blood flows to his penis and causes lightheadedness.” Poor Gabe is erect pretty much constantly throughout the book. It’s a wonder he can play sports at all with a condition like that! Here’s some perspective so you don’t have to go on your own Google search. The distance between the tip of my pinky finger and my elbow is 13.75 inches. Now, no one would ever describe me as tall or lanky but still…Perhaps the worst thing about the book is the lack of foreplay and complete absence of lube. I’m going to take this opportunity to remind you of what I said in the first paragraph about realistic expectations. A whole lot of young women were likely just set up for some serious disappointment, not to mention pain. But wait there’s more. “I go in three inches, backing out using only my briefs as a shield.” It’s been a week and I’m still wincing. Firstly, briefs don’t provide protection from STI’s or pregnancy; secondly, maybe I’m missing something but I can’t see a way where that feels good. All I can do is hope no one tries this themselves. On top of all that we’re treated to a healthy dose of slut-shaming, she kisses him (just kisses), is absolutely mortified and labels herself a dirty whore. The non-sexual plot consisted of juvenal mind games better suited to an elementary school playground than an adult relationship.Overall, Catching Callie was not the book for me. Perhaps the worst part is that had the author simply not mentioned the specific number of inches, and let me use my imagination, this book would have been a solid 3 stars.

Gabe’s an upcoming senior at UVA when he’s thrown into a media entanglement after being accused of cheating… on the football field as well as off of it. His exam results are being questioned as well as his last year of being a student and his hopes of being drafted to the NFL. To save him from outside pressures he’s sent to a small beachside to to get his act together. Gabe first meets Callie when he almost runs her over, they have words then Callie runs away, then later during a midnight swim they cross paths again. They share a blindingly hot moment before Callie yet again runs off.But Gabe is determined. This hot stud isn’t one to give up easily, even when he doesn’t even know the girl’s name. She wants a chase? She’ll get one. He’s not the college star athlete for nothing. This is a race he can’t not win.Callie has a lot to contend with. Busy dad, sick mom, kindergarten aged brother, managing her dad’s two businesses and taking classes at the local University leaves her little time for romantic pleasure. Plus the one and only other time she let a guy steal her heart, she ended up with sand in all the wrong places along with a disillusioned outlook on life. So, the new guy she just meet can just shove it, she’s not into playing games. This book had a little bit of everything, crazy exes, family drama, friends supporting each other and all the stress of becoming famous. There is a lot of emotional heartache as Callie and Gabe find their way in life. I cried, I laughed, then cried so more but in the end it was all worth it.Gabe was a super hot, swoon-worthy hero who always knew what he wanted. Sweet and romantic at times and with the right confidence to make Callie is girl for life.Callie was barely out of her teens when she first bumped into Gabe, he was a lot for her to take in, but this strong, yet cagey woman was more ready for the man in her life than she knew. Her responsibilities and selfless heart were a bit of a stumbling block at times but at the end of the day, she knew that all she really needed was love.Just like we all do.

Gabe is so close to achieving his dream. He just needs to finish college and wait to be drafted for the NFL. And then it all hits the fan. There's a scandal and for some reason he's at the center of it, labeled a dirty player. Gabe knows he's innocent but instead of being able to prove it, he's forced into hiding to wait it out. It'll die down, this stuff always does when the next big thing hits. For Gabe though, that comes a lot sooner than he'd planned and in an entirely different way. That next big thing is in fact Callie, a woman he bumps into and can't stop thinking about.Callie has no interests in tourists and even though Gabe is sexy, she also has a feeling he'd break her heart without any qualms and she doesn't have time for that. She has too much on her shoulders already. Okay, so she may use those responsibilities to hide from certain things, such as commitment or the man she can't help but want. His real life is scary and she isn't sure it's something she could ever live with.Gabe knows Callie is different, special, and wants to get to know her. But Callie is proving elusive. And the thing is, she isn't playing hard to get, she's literally trying to get away. Gabe's heart has already decided that Callie is the one for him, he just needs to convince her of that. Oh and clear his name and protect them both from a vengeful ex.Can Gabe prove his love to Callie? Can he clear his professional name while putting his heart on the line? What happens when an ex makes her presence known and tries to destroy what he's building with Callie? Is a HEA possible?One-click now and follow along as two people meet amidst difficult times and find the love that will help them overcome it. I like that Gabe knew right away Callie was the one for him. He didn't fight it. He was all in from the beginning. Callie, however, was the opposite. She wanted Gabe but was scared. I like that he had to prove himself, his feelings, to her. His success as a football player and potential future in the NFL was a detriment in this scenario. Callie wanted to stay away because of it as opposed to how most would handle it and readily attach themselves to him because of it. It showed that Callie wanted Gabe for who he was, not what he could do. And for Gabe, by having to work to win Callie over, it showed how deeply he felt for her.- By Elizabeth

He fell fast and he fell hard and it was a thing of beauty to read. His worst day ever turns into the day his world changes in the best way when he crashes, quite literally, into Callie’s life. Then there’s Callie who, while I’m still incredibly jealous of her, is pretty dang awesome herself. Even being young she’s more responsible than most people twice her age. With a huge selfless heart she looks out for everyone she loves and the people she loves, she loves them fiercely. Willing to sacrifice her happiness for any one of the people she holds dear there were moments my heart just shattered for her even with the sweetness that is her and Gabe’s love. Their story is what romance is all about and reminded why I love this genre so much.

This is Claire's second story and it is so different from her first. This cute summer read is mainly a light-hearted read with some heavy topics that are handled well. The heavy topics aren't the main focus of the story, and I think that's a key point to realize when the resolution comes. They just add to making the main characters who they are. I have to remember that these are college-aged kids and how they act and reactions are vastly different than when you are an older adult. We follow the story of Callie and Gabe in the sleepy town Sea Spray. This story is a journey of growth and discovery of who each of the main characters is, who they want to be, and that love can always win. Callie had a lot on her shoulders. I think she was so responsible even when she didn't want to be. How she handled all she was going through seemed very realistic. She tried her hardest to just be everything to everyone when at the end all she needed to do was be everything for herself. Then all the puzzle pieces would fit together perfectly. There were a couple of spots that I got annoyed with her character, but I liked that I did. I think it made her character more real to me that she wasn't this perfect little ray of sunshine. She hurt and felt things too. In the end, she took the long road but found her ultimate happiness. I don't want to spoil, but am glad she didn't give up. I think that would have been the difference between realistic fantasy and total fantasy for me. Gabe is your picture-perfect college heartthrob. He gets laser focused on anything he wants and holds on not wanting to let go. I felt deep down some of the reasons he held on so tightly so quickly, had to do with his past. He has these goals and dreams that he didn't want to give up, but at the same time wanted to for Callie. He had a lot of soul searching to do as well to figure out what would lead him to the ultimate HEA. Would the summer love be enough to bring that about. On his summer journey, he meets Steve. That relationship woven in there melted my heart. Banger and Sophie are the friends that come to the rescue of Gabe and Callie. I like the roles they played in the story and it made me want more from them. They were funny, supportive, and just good strong secondary characters. Callie's family was written into the story so beautifully. I love that this story didn't have the outcome I thought it would. While we don't get a full resolution on things going on, I think that is okay. You don't always get a full resolution in real life, and that wasn't the main point of the story. Jackie... well that chick is craycray. I told Claire that. I mean this girl is another level of evil. Overall this story is what I would expect from a lighthearted summer fling read. The timeline may move quick for some of my followers, and you may not like the gaps, but I think they worked well. The main plot was concluded in a beautiful way. The epilogue helped show some future for the couple. We don't get a resolution on some of the subplots, but I didn't feel gipped by it. I don't feel like we were supposed to. It wasn't the main point in the story. With all that said, I really enjoyed this one. It had me laughing, sighing, mad, and heartbroken. I felt emotions while reading and to me that always shows a good sign for a book and author. Just like her first book, I enjoy her writing style and the way she can pull me in from the first page.

Great Idea, but fell a little short. Catching Callie was a decent book, but it missed its mark for me. This book has everything I normally love in it. There is a strong female lead, a hot, athlete, and a little bit of drama. What more could I ask for right? The idea that a disgraced football player would escape to a small town and run into a girl who changes his world? It sounds like everything I would normally fall for. It was written well. I will give the story that, but I also felt like it wasn’t as cohesive as it could be. I think the small inconsistencies is what turned me off on this book.I really liked the characters in this book. Gabe was a hoot. I loved reading the story from his point of view. He is a strong character that is not afraid to go after what he wants. I also loved how considerate and humble he is. That is important in a character. I really liked Callie as well, but I was irritated with her too. She is a sassy character with strong values. I loved her personality, but I also felt she was being unfair at times to Gabe. With that being said, I did like her.The heat in this book is good. I liked watching these two together. It had all the hotness of a summer fling with the sweetness of a romantic evening. I thought their chemistry was great and added a layer to the story that it needed. These two had no problem with the heat. The writing style in this book was okay, but I felt it could have been better. The pace of the book was steady for most of it, but I felt the ending was speed up. I also didn’t liked the use of time jumps in this story. While I loved that we got to see where they ended up, I thought the time jump added more unanswered questions. I really enjoyed this book. I opened it and got lost in the words and the love story. I would totally recommend this book. I only have two criticisms to say about it though. I only have two criticisms to say about it though. I’m not going to give you any explicit spoilers but I will talk a little bit about the book details. Warning. First off, it got confusing because the author would drop a different character into the conversation that you had no idea was in the vicinity. For example, you’re Reading the private thoughts happening inside in the female leads head. And then the next second she’s talking with her ex-boyfriend. where did he come from? Or the couple goes out for a day at the beach with the little brother. The paparazzi is attacking and the mother is crying. Where did the mother come fromo? I think the author need to Segway the characters in the scenes better so readers do not get lost. It is the worst having to go back and read something to see if you miss something. You want to stay in the story without any interruptions when it’s going good. In my opinion, the ending was rough. The male lead was such a loving man throughout the whole book and then the end just didn’t seem to fit with his persona. It actually didn’t seem to fit with the couple’s relationship at all..I know that life throws us a lot of curveballs and we get scared a lot, afraid to take a risk. But aren’t the greatest things in our life the ones we took the biggest risk to fight for? When you put out the hard work, you reap the rewards. It just didn’t seem right to take an extended leave to solve everything. Plus, I don’t necessarily buy into the faithful from afar theory.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I really loved this story about two complete opposites who meet in one of the most unconventional ways. The way that these characters kept running in to each other I really loved. The author did a really great job with this story because it had a really enjoyable storyline and a lot of emotion throughout the story. I found that she was a strong character and I really loved the way that she didn’t give in to Gabe when they first met. I loved some of the things that she did throughout the book and in particular section I laughed out loud at her actions.Gabe was the sexy football player that had suffered a massive scandal that he had nothing to do with. I really loved the way that he was able to have positive outlook at the situation and the many romantics things he said to Callie. He had me swooning many times throughout the book.Catching Callie is about Gabe who is running away from a massive scandal and runs into Callie. But at the time he doesn’t know who she is but he knows that he wants to get to know her. The problem is every time when he tries to find out her name she runs.I found the couple in this story had a lot of chemistry. Claire Woods did a really good job with the writing of this collage romance as I did not want to put the story down once I started reading it. I cannot wait to read more form this author.

Catching Callie may be a new adult romance, but it deals with some really intense issues at times and that not only added to the depth of the characters as well as the story. The way that Gabe and Callie originally meet was both funny and serious at the same time. Gabe needed to lay low after allegations about him cheating in more ways than just football. When he crashes, literally, into Callie it is almost like it was fate. Callie has a lot going on in her life and doesn’t need someone like Gabe adding to her already full plate. The chemistry between Gabe and Callie was intense, the push and pull just added to the overly connection between these two. Things happen, things that not only test them individually but together as well. Will Gabe be able to catch Callie in the end? Well you will have to read the book to find out.I am excited to read more from this author in the future. Catching Callie is a book I can easily say needs to be on your TBR lists, I enjoyed it.

She loves the beach, hanging with bestie and her family. She's never been in the spotlight but that's about to change. Even though it killed her, she needed to stay true to herself and her goals before having a relationship. Gabe being in the midst of controversy proved himself worthy and with the partnership he found, completed his goals and found happiness in and of the field. Callie makes him with for it and sometimes I just cracked up with how she would leave him. The situations they find themselves in are hilarious but at times, rewarding. True friendships are bought it in this book. I truly loved this book and so want more!

Then later I wanted to throat punch her for throwing away something so amazing. But, I kept reading and loved how the whole book was tied together. Jackie was crazy pants...but I loved her part in the story line. Really helped bring it all together. I think Claire did an amazing job keeping the reader engaged and wanting to find out what would happen next. I’m excited for her next book, and I’m hoping for maybe a second one following these characters?!

I would have liked there to have been less time on Gabe and the ongoing drama and more on the emotion surrounding Callie as I felt it got a little lost. It was still a great read.***Reviewed for LBM Book Blog***
