Another great edition to the Narwhal and Jelly Book series! There is a new animal friend in town, Otty (the otter) who is a self-proclaimed explorer. Narwhal is so happy to make a new friend and plan an epic adventure together. However, Jelly soon starts to feel left out and decides to find a new friend out of jealously. Filled with laugh out loud moments, fun animal facts, puns galore, and a great story of friendship, Narwhal's Otter Friend is a must read for kids and adults alike. -Jenny L.

This is my first Narwhal and Jelly Book and I am not sure how that’s happened! This story has some of my favorite sea animals; otters, turtles, jelly fish and of course, a waffle-loving narwhal! It includes a super cute lesson on friendship in the story too, that it’s ok to have more than one friend! One of the interesting facts I learned from this graphic novel is that a group of otters is called a raft! How cool is that?! Narwal's in space! As always, a very cute early-reader graphic novel. Includes some fun facts about otters and jellyfish. Great for ages 5-8 (or 35)

Otter is a cute new friend for Narwhal and Jelly, and this book has the same silly sense of humor and fun adventures as the rest of the series. Jelly deals with jealousy, Otter shares stories of life as an explorer, and of course, there are waffles.

Can't understand the outstanding reviews this book has. It isn't funny, it isn't really good neither and I start to get bored after 10 pages. Not for me!

eARC received from publisher in exchange for an honest reviewI love adorable illustrations, so it’s no surprise that I’ve followed Narwhal and Jelly in their adventures from the beginning. Clanton’s drawings and humour continue to be a delight and I specially loved that this instalment included facts about otters and jellyfish. Narwhal’s Otter Friend was a fun-tastic read with otterly charming characters. It’s full of water-ful puns too!

What happens when your best friend makes another new friend? Of course Jelly's jealous when Narwhal meets Otter! That's huge stuff when you're 5 years old (or in some cases, considerably older)! I like that there's an intermission roughly in the middle of the book with a lot of cool factoids about real life otters and jellyfish. There's also a couple page long story toward the end of the book (as in the previous books) illustrated in a very different style to differentiate it which reminded me of a similar technique Dav Pilkey uses for cutaway stories inside of his books (as the main characters drawing or telling another story inside the main story). It's just such an exuberant book. The illustrations are wonderful and the story itself is a lot deeper and more meaningful than the happy bouncy surface would imply. I think this book (and indeed the other books in this series) would make worthwhile reading group or classroom reads for younger readers. The characters are so relatable and real and the fact that they're anthropomorphic makes them more accessible. There is jealousy, conflict, and resolution and all are presented in a way that is understandable and non-threatening to a young reader. This would be a superlative pick for a library read also. I am a huge fan!Five stars.Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

I'm gonna be a bit "judge-ie" today. If you can't give this book 5-Stars, you might want to rethink everything you know about everything, ever. The awesomeness that is this book, series, and author is ridiculous! I love the art, the story, the fun way information is presented to young readers. Does this book really even need a review? Otter is talking big about his adventures and Narwhal is like, "Dude, that sounds so totally amazing! Let's go on an adventure!" Jelly feels like Narwhal has left him for his new friend Otter, and Jelly begins to wonder through the water in search of a new friend. He fails. Finally, Narwhal and Otter run into Jelly and Jelly's all, "You have a new friend! What about me?!!?! I was your friend first, yo!!" Narwhal and Otter are like, "Dude, we've been looking for you like all day! We totally can't go on an adventure without you, man!" Then Jelly's all, "Really!?" And they're like, "Duh! Let's go." And they all go on an amazing adventure and we learn that people can have more than one friend. BAM!NOTE: Nothing I have in quotations is in the book. Think of it like Luis in Ant Man and the Wasp (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-5g4...) So if it isn't obvious by now, this book gets a 5-Star and a high-five from me!Stefanie

It’s a lovely little book.Narwhal meets a new sea otter friend who is an exceptional adventurer. This makes Jelly a little jealous. Jelly feels a little like a third wheel once Otter shows up, but there is room for all of them in the sea.I also like that they include a few facts about Otters in the book. They are fascinating little animals. It’s easy to see why my daughter loves them so much.If you’re looking for cute books to read to your kids, or a fun graphic book for older elementary aged kids, then this is a good series to pick up. Especially if you are partial to sea creatures.Song for this book: Koko Dake no Hanshi – Chatmonchy

My children and I have loved reading the other Narwhal books, and book #4 in this series certainly did not disappoint! The Narwhal books really stand above other children's graphic novels in that they are educational, entertaining, and have humor that is appropriate for all ages. Both my 4 year old son and 8 year old daughter love these books, and they are both able to take away something from reading them (which is rare). This is a great series for young readers just learning to read / an introduction to graphic novels! Super cute illustrations and fun stories about Jelly and his friend Narwhal. Narwhal and Jelly are the best! In this adventure, they meet and befriend Otter and have totally otterly adventures (in the end). Jelly is jealous (or should I say, jelly??) of Narwhal and Otter's newfound friendship, but of course Narwhal won't do anything without his best friend in the whole wide world! I think it is a great topic for kids to read about as it happens to all of us at one time or another in childhood. And as always, the pun game is strong in this one!

Narwhal and Jelly are always a hit! This latest book deals with the challenges of your best friend making another friend and all of the confusing feelings that stirs up. It's also full of some interesting facts about otters and the environments they live in. I'm always recommending this series because it manages to be silly but also deal with real life situations and educate all at the same time, a difficult task to succeed in.

I have loved Narwhal and Jelly since the very first book in this series. In this latest book, a new friend has been introduced - Otter. He is Narwhal’s otter friend (so punny) and he’s an adventurer. Narwhal is absolutely enamoured by his new friend’s adventures and wants to join in, much to the disappointment of Jelly. Filled with more punny jokes, fun otter and Jelly facts, and a heartwarming ending, Narwhal’s Otter Friend is another great story by Ben Clanton.

Apparently on goodreads this is book number 4, but i still read this even though i haven’t read the others. I got this children’s graphic novel through netgalley for a review and here it is...... I enjoyed it. The graphics were simple and cute. The story line wasn’t all over the place and simple to understand. This is the perfect children’s graphic novel. I plan to check out the other ones to see if the stories connect or if each book is an independent story.

I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley in return for my honest opinion. I am definitely not in the target group for this book as my children are grown, but I enjoyed the story and the graphics. The story was entertaining and truthful in that it is difficult adding a third person to a pair of best friends. Jealousy can definitely be an issue! I think kids would enjoy this book.

Very cute. I loved the facts about otters and jellyfish, but the main part of the story is really when two close friends are joined by a third. Sometimes it is tricky to figure it all out and deal with the potential for jealousy (or maybe jellyfishusy). This is a great addition to the series.
