But I didn’t. I wanted to forget he was a guest and I was a stewardess. I wanted to forget I was putting my job on the line at that precise moment.” The Ruthless Gentleman (stand-alone) opens up twenty-six-year-old American Avery Walker getting ready to go on break from her job as head stewardess for a luxury yacht. Instead last minute she gets called to head to the Mediterranean to work a 2-month cruise clad in mystery. Total confidently and isolation with one passenger and a hand-picked crew.Onboard walks thirty-two-year-old British venture capitalist and entrepreneur Hayden Wolf. Handsome beyond words, aloof yet very polite and aside from his odd demands a fairly low-maintenance guest. A true gentleman, but with secrets and signs of paranoia. Hayden is trying to flush out a traitor in his organizing while closing the most important deal of his life. Hayden has no time to get tangled up in a liaison, much less one that might cloud his judgment. Besides any flirtation between guest and crew is grounds for termination. Hayden and Avery fight their attraction and fail miserably leading to wild and reckless sex against furniture and walls and leaving the door open for traitors and villains to get the upper hand.Told from dual POVs this is a feel-good love story with the added element of suspense and an unfolding mystery. Hayden and Avery are from opposite worlds and their affair forbidden. Their connection is palpable leaving them vulnerable for sabotage. A journey of trust, betrayal, lies, mistakes, truth, revenge, atonement, self-reflection, forgiveness, healing and love.***Hero: ★★★★+Heroine: ★★★★-Plot: ★★★★1/2Storytelling: ★★★★1/2Sexual tension: ★★★★1/2Sex scenes: ★★★★Story ending: ★★★★******************************************OVERALL RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2Angst: | MEDIUM FOCUS |Darkness: | LOW FOCUS |Humor: | LOW FOCUS |Kink: | LOW FOCUS |Romance: | HIGH FOCUS |Sex frequency: | MEDIUM FOCUS |Suspense: | MEDIUM FOCUS | ARC provided to me by author Louise Bay in exchange for an honest review.

I have never read anything by Louise Bay, but you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be now! THE RUTHLESS GENTLEMAN was brilliant. I loved every single page. I was sucked in immediately and I had a very hard time putting this book down. I was sucked in immediately and I had a very hard time putting this book down. I wish I could have crushed this awesome book in one sitting, but as you all know, life has a funny way of preventing that from happening. Avery Walker is a saint, but she is drowning in guilt that left her brother unable to walk. Her mother walked out on her and her family after her brother Matthew's accident 7 years prior and instead of wallowing in misery, Avery takes a stand to help out her father, and instead of going to University like she always dreamed, she sets off on a long adventure of Yachting to make as much money as possible for her brother's medical bills. Hayden Wolf makes a life out of buying and selling companies. As of late, a rival company has bested him for the last time and he wants to do everything in his power to prevent Cannon from stealing his next merger right out from under him. He has decided to go rouge, and Yacht for 8 weeks where there is no wifi, no cell service, and somewhere no one can find him, or any details about the "deal" he is working on. Hayden never expected to have and INSTANT attraction to Avery. He wasn't on the yacht to make friends or to sleep with anyone-he was there for business and business alone. But best laid plans are always going to fail and what he did find was scorching chemistry and instant trust with Avery, something he has never felt before, ever. As for Avery, the attraction is there is well. But it's against all her morals to be involved with someone who she is working for. There are rules when you are yachting, and her being the Main Stewardess on the Athena makes any client/boss shenanigans or relations nearly illegal. What are rules for? Breaking of course! Despite her high morals, and her need to help out her brother with his medical bills, Avery cannot stop the trajectory that she and Hayden are on. The pull is too strong and the need to finally do something for her and her alone is too hard to resist. He is enigmatic, clever and smart-she is beautiful, honest and lovely. The need to be captivated by the other is irresistible-it's as if these two were destined from the start. Bay clearly has a knack for creating wonderful, vibrant characters. She has honed her craft quite well if you ask me. I want to dig right back in and read this again, but I think I need to venture into another one of her well reviewed books. There were so many layers built into this story. A detailed background of all of the subs characters had as many particulars as her mains. Who knew corporate espionage and a sexy love story would roll so well together?! I didn't! I would throw my hand in a hat for another ARC from Louise Bay if given the opportunity. Her writing style flowed flawlessly and it was just so intense and perfect. I loved how she made me want to punch and hug Hayden simultaneously without me wanting to chuck the book right in the bin. The dynamics, "logistics", and overall story line were so engaging, I could have kept reading and reading about Avery and Hayden for days. A smashing hit from cover to cover! *ARC Received generously in exchange for my honest review****Reviewing by Jess for JoAndIsaLoveBooks Blog***

Louise Bay does it again! Every time I think I’m ready to turn in the romance card, Bay releases a masterpiece! How can I leave the CR world when she pulls out the stops each and every time? He’s present and accounted for a specific reason. Their cat and mouse game is very very interesting and can certainly be considered foreplay! Avery is not the only distraction. Someone is crazy enough to challenge Hayden Wolf. That someone will be handled as only the “Wolf” can! I’m sure you can tell Hayden is my favorite. However, Avery is pretty awesome but Hayden is EPIC!Five stars!Disclaimer: This review is my personal opinion of this story. As usual my personal opinion should have ZERO influence on your experience with the story. With that being said, read, enjoy, and leave a review!

Who needs the hustle and bustle of the city, millions of people pushing their way through life, pollution, smog, traffic, when you can charter a super yacht and work with a vista of St Tropaz opposed to St Paul's (which is also a pretty good view).I was floating around the Med in my head (yep I rhymed it), lounging on my sunbed, the scent of Hawaiian Tropic sun oil, sunglasses on, a chilled glass of Prosecco in my hand with little dishes of olives, crostini, tapanade, listening to the waves lapping against the stern as I enjoyed the tale of 2 independent strong willed characters, overcoming their fears and pushing boundaries as they dealt with lifes troubles at sea. The Ruthless Gentleman was a perfect escapism in fiction, Hayden and Avery just clicked there was nothing not to like about these 2 characters, they both win your heart, Louise nailed it. I also commend the side characters Landon, Skyler, August, Eric, Captain Moss. I wouldn't mind objectifying Landon's brawn a little more... Hint hints Ms BayThe one thing that always stands out for me in Louise's books are the heroines, they are always strong independent ladies, Anna, Mackenzie, Beth The Baker, Violet etc and now Avery Walker. Yes they want love and their Prince Charming but they can also stand on their own 2 feet and live.Fantastic book Louise!!!

Hayden may not have a long list of demands but he is very interested in Avery; and he is used to getting what he wants. Avery feels the pull of their mutual attraction but placing her job in jeopardy is unthinkable. She needs this job; it’s a lifeline for more than just herself.Hayden and Avery were great. On paper, there may seem to by a gulf between them but scratch the surface and it’s clear they share similar traits. The complement each other. And, as they get to know one another, they draw strength from each other. Their delight in finding a person who they can openly talk to and trust makes for some thought-provoking conversation between them.Being in such close quarters on a daily basis amplifies the palpable chemistry between Hayden and Avery. Louise Bay does a great job in fanning the slow burn of this attraction. The light flirting, the gentle touches, the temptation of simply being near one another intensifies over time and when they do become physically intimate, the heat levels are scorching hot. I was often squirming in anticipation of what would happen next. When loyalties are tested, the fallout leaves our main characters questioning the trust they placed in each other. I did not envy the dilemma they faced. The writing is empathetic and whatever the outcome, I would have forgiven the characters. However, this is a romance and I want my Happy Ever After, so I am giving Hayden an A+ for his grovelling efforts. He might not have thought he was looking for a relationship but from the start, his gestures toward making Avery happy tell a different story. It’s a role reversal of sorts that seems fitting in the end. You’ll just have to read the book to find out more. Finally, I really enjoyed Hayden’s relationship with his brother Landon. Their teasing and banter throughout the book provides respite from the tense, somewhat forbidden romance between Hayden and Avery. Is it too soon to request Landon gets a book of own?

Wow! Another hit from Louise! I love how Hayden totally turned the tables on Avery and wanted to be the one to care for her. Avery crashed into Hayden's world and changed his outlook. This story was full of passion, attraction, the struggle between self and obligations, family, honor, forgiveness, and love. I love the unique stories Louise weaves, and the amazing characters. She always leaves you wanting more, but satisfied with where the story ended!

I have read every book she’s every written and feel her writing always takes you on an adventure. It is relatable, fresh, and original and not a rehash of so many other storylines that all seem the same. The two leads in this story, Hayden Wolf and Avery Walker, have depth, perseverance, admirable work ethics, as well as morals and values. They are genuinely people I would want to be friends with in real life. I like the fact that they aren’t broken and he’s not “bad boy.” They are both smart, strong, passionate, loyal, and have a fiery spirit. Even though they had different upbringings, he is from London and she is from Florida in the US, they connect on a deep emotional level and you can feel their chemistry and attraction to one another on every page. They meet on a private 154’ super yacht, The Athena, that he chartered to work on a project that he needs to keep confidential. He has trust issues and rightfully so, as he learned that someone from his company had betrayed him and until he knew who it was, he needed to take every precaution possible. This book has a bit of a mystery to it and his super smart and sexy retired military brother, Landon, helps him solve the puzzle from home.Avery was hired to be the head stewardess and was immediately drawn to his good looks, charm, and the fact that he was not a demanding snob as she had been accustomed to in her line of work. He was very much the Gentleman as the title of the book suggests, but he was very much off limits as per her work contract. I liked how they developed a friendship first and how they knew in their hearts that what they were feeling was not just a sexual attraction. I don’t want to give too much away because reading their journey and how they finally come together is all part of the fun as is anticipating what will happen next. There were many moments in this book that I had to remind myself to exhale! Louise writes such beautiful, vivid descriptions of the places they visit while on the yacht such as the South of France and Taormina in Sicily. I have never been personally, but have them on my bucket list now!I loved Hayden and Avery together and routed for them the entire time. There was angst in this book as well as many tender moments and sexy times. I especially liked how close and committed they were to each other and their families, and how these secondary characters were also included in the story. I am hoping that Hayden’s brother, Landon, gets his own book! Even though Hayden and Avery seemed very different, they had a lot in common and their core values were the same. Their relationship was not always smooth sailing, but I admire how they were able to be honest with each other, admit when they were wrong, and learn to compromise. The ending was exactly what I hoped it would be and I was smiling the entire time I read the extended epilogue. Please read The Ruthless Gentleman. You will be glad you did!

I really like how brave Avery is, and how deep are Hayden's feelings. We learn to know them slowly, a little too much slowly for my liking. Nothing really happens before nearly 65%. I deplore the use of the f word . Ok Hayden is an alpha male, but he's smitten, and a gentleman so i would have like the use of the words "make love" or even "sleep with" sometimes. So that's a 3.5 for me.

Hayden isn't a type of man who does anything thathatt he doesn't want to do, “I filled out my preferences sheet. Because you asked me to.” I probably would have ignored anyone else. But she’d caught my attention—" Hayden is one ambitious man, "...we’re going to have twenty kids..." Hayden knows how to compromise, “I’m definitely saying it so you’ll get naked, but I’ll still mean it after we’re dressed again.” I really liked this book, I fell in love with Hayden.
