Final Shadows (Bishop Files #3)
A desperate underground war with the survival of millions at stake looms in the electrifying conclusion of the New York Times bestselling Bishop Files Trilogy.Tasha Solomon's world turned upside-down when the psychic abilities she had tried so hard to live with in secret suddenly made her a target stalked by unseen enemies. John Brodie is by nature, by training, and by instinct a Guardian. He is a member of an intricate and secretive network of individuals who have devoted their lives to the deadly struggle of saving psychics in danger of being taken or being killed. It is a war very few other people even know exists, and yet its tentacles stretch deeply and dangerously into every aspect of society.Tasha has abilities not even she is aware of, abilities that the other side would give virtually all they possess to destroy. And if being hunted like an animal were not bad enough she has to learn how to become a warrior in a battle she did not choose, to save people she does not know, and possibly even the very world around her. If John Brodie can keep her alive long enough.

Thank you First to Read for the ARC of Final Shadows by Kay Hooper that I read and reviewed.I really don't know how I felt about this book. I really felt lost while I was reading it. I had the feeling I was in the middle of a movie and somehow I managed to wander into the middle of a movie I really wanted to see but I somehow missed the beginning and I was never able to catch up. This book had all my beloved characters from the Bishop books but I was lost. It was almost like I was suppose to remember the earlier Bishop File books maybe but when you read hundreds of books between them that is not going to happen. Maybe a little backstory would have helped. I don't know. This book was just okay for me.I am giving Final Shadows three out of five stars.

I was interested in having an opportunity to pick up a Kay Hooper book even though it was part of an ongoing series. Hooper has high ratings across several of the series and the copy looked intriguing..psychics & secrets? However, I found that Final Shadows doesn't work well as a standalone book. Lots of characters and vague references to past events, but yet? Slightly repetitive in ways that weren't helpful.I've put the book aside and perhaps when I have time in my reading life will pick up I was interested in having an opportunity to pick up a Kay Hooper book even though it was part of an ongoing series. Thank you to the author & publisher for allowing me to read an ARC of this book. Final Shadows, the latest in the Bishop Files series is excellent ! I love all of Kay Hooper's books but her series about the psychics are just too good ! You cannot put them down. This book was smart, suspenseful and very on edge ! Loved it ! Also loved the insight provided in this book about Bishop himself. The third book and final book in the Bishop Files series wraps things up neatly. Good characterizations, twisty plot, and more than a few surprises.I don't remember if the earlier books explicitly said that they were dealing with an alien invasion (although the clues were there). Regardless, it is explicit here. The rise in psychic abilities--in this, and by implication, the other Bishop and Haven books--is a tactic by the aliens to breed for it. I wish I had enjoyed this more than I did. I found the scenario a bit too dark and frankly a bit scary. I do enjoy some paranormal but this pushed me out of my comfort zone. I'm a senior and I find scenarios with torture and infanticide are a bit too much. I have friends who are Kay Hooper fans and I'd hoped to join them but I will seek out gentler tales.I'd like to thank Penguin Random House and goodreads for the opportunity to receive this advance reading copy in return for an unbiased review. Final Shadows is the third title in the Bishop Files series, and you really do need to read the first two to know what is happening in this one. Since it had been awhile since I read the previous books, it took me a little while to catch onto the story line and remember the various characters and past events. The story itself was quite dark for a Bishop story, but was interesting and more of a sci fi alien story than other books by Hooper.

I love the Bishop series! I've read them all. Some of the little things early on in the series pop up again later in this book and turn into big things. This was a really dark, deep, and intense way to end the trilogy. This author often carries characters over to new trilogies so I'm hoping I'll get to see some of them again soon! ARC Firsttoread.com

It was really hard for me to keep track of everything that was going on. It felt like I missed the beginning of everything being explained. After reading I found out that it was a trilogy, so this explains things. All in all it was ok, but I don't find myself wanting to run and read the first two books.

There should have been more about Tasha and John. However, it was still a very good book although at times it was very hard to keep all the characters straight. Kay Hooper is a great author and I will have to go and read more from her.

I won an ARC from FirsttoRead. I have been a long time fan of the Noah Bishop books, so was very pleased to be able to review this book. An edge of the seat book where NO ONE is safe. Kay does a wonderful job of storytelling and adding great dimension to her characters.

Final Shadows by Kay Hooper the final book in the Bishop Files Trilogy. The book was darker and more violent than the previous books. Often, I lost the thread of the book and confused with the way various characters were included. Not one of my favorites by Ms Hooper. Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
