There's a sense of fulfillment and content in listening to this story, one that warrants a sigh of pleasure. It's full of wonderful characters, humor, emotion, and depth. The voices of her characters spoke loud and true, and you will love them for it. I have always loved Emma Chase's words—it's smart, witty, and addictive. Getting Schooled has all of that in spades. Garrett Daniels and Callaway Carpenter fell in love in high school, and thought they would be together forever. You'd look at them and know it's not puppy love. But distance and time apart put an end to their relationship, and they both move on with their lives—Callie in San Diego trying to make her way into the theater world, and Garrett back at home coaching his old school's football team to the top.An incident Callie would rather not think about ever again makes her move back to her parents' house in New Jersey. She takes a temporary job at her old high school as the substitute teacher, and there she reunites with the love of her life. Garrett Daniels, golden boy and former star athlete of their school, is now the football coach of the team. They finally get their second chance more than a decade later at the very same place where it all began. I knew from the moment Garrett and Callie talked to each other again that they were meant to be. Without a doubt. Everything about their relationship felt real to me. It was so heartwarming to see them feel and act so at ease with each other even after being apart for so long. They are each other's person. Whether they're laughing, making love, or breaking apart, it brought a tug to my heart that rarely happens when I read books. And I read a lot. I loved this couple that much. While Garrett and Callie's reunion was central to the story, I love that Getting Schooled also highlighted what it's like to be a teacher. It was interesting to see their train of thought, the efforts they did to reach their students, their frustrations and hurt, and the joy of seeing their students grow and learn. It added so much to the story without stealing the spotlight from the romance. WHAT DID YOU LIKE ABOUT THE AUDIOBOOK?Aside from the story, the narrators were fantastic! I'm a huge fan of Andi Arndt, so it's not really surprising that she did a wonderful job here. I've only listened to Zachary Webb a few times, but it still blows my mind how amazing of a narrator he is. He's amazing in acting out not just Garrett, but every single person in this book. I've never been so entertained by a narrator as much as Zachary Webber. These two wonderful narrators brought to life a story that is already strong on its own. This is definitely one of the most enjoyable audiobooks I've listened to. The emotions and imagery were so vivid that I felt like I was in their world. I saw the football games, sat with the students in class, watched front row as Garrett and Callie got their second chance. I laughed out loud, smiled like a complete idiot, and cried. By the end of it, I felt so full. I was ready to burst with love and emotion.WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THIS AUDIOBOOK TO A FRIEND? IF SO, WHY?Absolutely! Romance fans will enjoy this wonderfully written second chance story. It has everything I could possibly want in an audiobook, and I'm sure audiophiles and audiobook virgins alike would agree. Oh my heart, I loved this book so freaking much. Every single thing about it gave me deliciously giddy feels. My heart smiled the entire time, except in those moments when it ached and when it cried. The romance in Getting Schooled is absolutely EVERYTHING. It's so heartwarming, so satisfying, so joyful. The romance in Getting Schooled is absolutely EVERYTHING. It's so heartwarming, so satisfying, so joyful. It made me want to pump my fist in the air as I read. But there's so much more to this story than just the central romance between a football coach and the newly hired drama teacher who also happens to be his high school sweetheart. It's a heartfelt story of what it means to coach and educate, to guide a future generation and instill confidence in them while they're struggling with teenage angst and social issues. It's about family and friendship and the humor and heartache that connects all of them. And, of course, it's an unforgettable love story between characters that I just adored. I loved every facet of this book, every layer, every side character. And I loved how much I was made to feel through the powerhouse narration of Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt. We've been saying it for years: Emma Chase writes the male POV like no one else around. The voice she gives all of her characters is utter perfection, but the voice she gives her heroes has placed her on a pedestal since the days of Drew Evans. But the added perk of this book being released first as an audiobook is that the already vivid voice she gives her characters through her lush writing style are ratcheted up exponentially by what these narrators bring to the table. It's just PHENOMENAL. A marriage made in ROMANCE NOVEL HEAVEN, that's what this is.The stunningly superb writing of Emma Chase meeting the wholly intoxicating voices of Webber and Arndt? What's born from that union is an unforgettable, all consuming reading experience that I NEVER WANTED TO END. I loved the love story between Garrett and Callie. It's a second chance romance between two characters who are so obviously made for each other but whose lives took them in two different directions after high school. But years later, they find themselves brought back together again by a hilarious course of events, their reunion evolving against the backdrop of the very same high school in the same small town where they fell in love as teenagers. It's so smart and incredibly refreshing what Chase creates with this premise. What I loved most about it was how much I related to it. Not only can I easily relate to the joys and frustrations of working with students that are sometimes selfish, sometimes unkind, often insecure, sometimes troubled, but I laughed out loud throughout this story and furiously nodded with understanding as Garrett struggled to call his old teachers by their first names now that he worked alongside them. This book is a beautiful depiction of what it's like to work with students, how your heart both soars and breaks for them, how frustrating and rewarding it can all be, but it's also warm and funny. This is everything you want in a feel good romance. Getting Schooled is DELICIOUSLY sexy, full of heart and humor, and it's peppered perfectly with just the right amount of angst and uncertainty, breaking my heart and putting it all back together in the most unexpected ways. Callie and Garrett are so right together, so sweet, so good. I loved them and I felt every nuance of their love and their longing through the superb narration in this audiobook. Exquisite storytelling and wickedly smart writing is elevated by the PERFECT voice of these narrators and it all comes together in this magnificent package of romance and palpable emotion. Getting Schooled is a new favorite of the year for me. It's so well done, so unforgettable and I'll be listening again and again. I absolutely LOVED IT.

I'm sure a lot of readers will like this book just fine but for me, the best part was the high school setting and the interactions between students and teachers, while I, unfortunately, struggled to connect with the mcs.

This book is EVERYTHING that I love about Emma Chase. EVERYTHING! It’s funny, sweet, smart, sexy and romantic, and a functional, easy friends-to-lovers romance that absolutely captured my heart. I was in love from the beginning right through to the end and I reveled in every moment of this wonderfully entertaining and blissfully romantic story. Garrett Daniels is the golden boy of Lakeside, New Jersey. Once the high school football hero, he is now the team’s coach, and the cool teacher that every loves. He is confident, charmingly cocky, happy, successful and well-adjusted, and funny as all hell. And his happy little existence is knocked on its head when Callie Carpenter returns to town. Garrett and Callie were high school sweethearts and they loved each other madly. But college and distance put an end to their relationship. It was painful but it wasn’t a nasty break up, it was just what they had to do as they went off and chased their dreams. Callie is now living in San Diego and has just gotten the job of her dreams when she receives a phone call that throws her life into disarray and has her hurrying back to her home town. Her family needs her, so she temporarily uproots herself to move back town for a while to help out. And when she takes a temp job as the drama teacher at her old high school, there is Garrett. There’s no hiding from each other, no longing stares or game playing. They don’t shy away from each other or hide their excitement about seeing each other again and they ‘click’ right back into the easiness that was always between them. They are friends who flirt, but only while they get to know each other again, and then it’s all on as they naturally and easily fall into being something more. I have feelings for him. I always have … But these aren’t just left over echoes of a sweet first love. This is something new. A throbbing, breathless attraction to the amazing man he’s become. I want to be near him, to know him, inside and out all over again. And he feels the same way. Garret wants this version of me as much as he always did. Maybe even more. It’s pure awesome, and I loved watching them together – effortlessly recapturing what they once had and making it even better. “You were always my girl, Callie. Even after you weren’t any more.” I love Garret and Callie!I love them together.I love them individually. I love them with their friends.I love them with their families.I love them with Garret’s dog.I love them with their colleagues.I love them with their students.FREAKING. LOVE. THEM!They are both smart, funny, matter-of-fact people. There’s no game playing or stupid, they are up front and honest about everything and it’s sensational. “What is this to you? What are we doing? What do you want?”Garrett smiles that easy smile that makes me want to lick every single inch of his skin. “This is you and me. The reboot. We’ll talk and laugh and fuck until we can’t move, and probably fight at some point, too. And we’ll… be.”I reach for him. He releases my arms and rolls us to the side, my hands around his neck, my leg draped across his hip.“As for what I want. I want you, Callie. For as long as you’re here. For as long as you’ll let me have you. I want all of you.” And did I mention totally freaking hot? “I want to be above you, beneath you, behind you. I want you weak, drained from coming, hoarse from screaming my name. I’m going to need hours, baby. Fuckin’ days.” But as amazing as everything is between them, there are still issues to deal with and decisions that need to be made. And I honestly adored every funny, wonderful, heartfelt, teary, passionate, swoony moment as it all played out. “This is real and solid…and us. How did I breathe without this? How will I exist without it?” As much as I got completely swept up in the love story, the scenes at school were just as fantastic. Either dealing with their students, their colleagues or their headmaster, I was laughing out loud at the banter and joking that goes on. There are lots of side characters introduced – those that are important to the storyline, and those that are just there briefly, but they all bring something to the story, and the dynamics are hilarious and heartfelt. The book ends on a high note, with not one, but THREE epilogues to finish everything off beautifully. And just to add to the awesomeness, the audiobook narration is fantastic. Two of my favourites – Zachary Webber and Andie Arndt – bring these characters to life and tell this story with such wit, humour and heart, it’s just perfect, and I recommend listening to this one if you get the opportunity.I honestly can’t rave enough about this book. It’s an instant favourite, and one I look forward to rereading over and over again. I can only hope that we get to revisit this fantastic bunch of characters if this book becomes a series. My fingers are crossed. 5 massive stars! An copy of this audiobook was generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Along with the EPIC WRITING of Emma Chase, they brought Garrett and Callie to life! I found myself rewinding on multiple occasions to hear the insane sexiness of Zachary’s voice (even with some of the Jersey accents)! I’ll let that slide, kid. And Andi’s beautiful voice took Callie to a whole other level. Together, these two voiced something magical and something unforgettable! I will never forget this first experience, that’s for sure! “Tell me you’re mine.” Emma Chase, I will ALWAYS crave your words, your stories, your characters. You bring magic and emotion to each and every single page. Garrett and Callie’s story brought so much light to my life and so much fullness to my heart. Once I began, there was no going back! I wanted SO MUCH MORE! Ms. Chase’s words are addicting, expressive, and emotional. They’re hilarious, sensual, and invigorating! She helps bring these characters to life and makes the romance that much more special. I’m in LOVE! I’m absolutely head over heels, smitten, so far-gone, intensely and completely IN LOVE! I’ve read every single one of Emma Chase’s stories and I have to say, this one right here, it just might be my all time favorite of hers! I’m not sure if the audiobook version sealed the deal for me, but it doesn’t matter. I’ll be reading it ALL OVER AGAIN when the eBook releases in June!Get ready to smile, swoon, laugh, and cry! Why did she have to be the first woman Garrett slept with all those years ago when they broke up? It totally took away a bit from the story - I would expect him to move on but I hate that he slept with her (even if it was only one time) when he knew how awful she was to Callie in high school. If it wasn't for that, this would probably be one of my favorite books ever. Still, it was a minor part of the story so I was still able to really enjoy this book. When she's faced with staying in NJ for a year to help her parents, she gets a job teaching theater at her old high school -- the same school where her former flame Garrett is a history teacher and head football coach. Thrust back into each other's lives it's like no time has passed. Callie and Garrett quickly fall back into each other's arms. As easy as it was to fall back into each other it's not without obstacles. Callie is only back in NJ for the year. And there's the way they ended things all those years ago -- unresolved hurt that can only lead to present day problems. Emma always puts a fresh take on a traditional romance trope. I loved everything about this book. I even got an Audible subscription to have access to the story now and not waiting until summer. The narrators really enhanced this story. The life that Andi and Zachary brought to Callie and Garrett only made me love this story more. They perfectly captured the characters. I'm starting to think this is my hill to die on --- Emma Chase is the master of the male POV. Like all her other male leads, Garrett is layered and well defined -- funny, charming, smart, determined, a family man, a good friend, and a great teacher/coach. As great as the male leads are, Emma doesn't skimp on the heroines. Callie is a force and she always will be with or without Garrett. A strong female lead is needed in these stories to make them successful. Emma does a great job making her heroines strong but relatable. I loved this book so much. It's totally worth the Audible subscription.

She told me that the narrators for this book were the best of the best and that I would not be disappointed and you know what? She was completely right! I truly enjoyed my first audio book and am looking forward to listening to more! What I thought was cool about this release that is different than what I have seen in the past is that the audio book is being released first. So don't worry readers... the ebook and paperback will be coming in June so if audio books are not for you, Getting Schooled is coming soon. For those who love audio books or those of you who don't know if you would like it, I totally say give this one a try... I was sucked in from the very instant that I heard Garrett Daniels voice.Everything you need to know about the book is in the synopsis. Callie Carpenter is back home because of certain circumstance while serious in nature also hysterically funny (from an outsider perspective... not if it was something that happened in my life though... I know I am being vague so read the book lol). The instant that Garrett and Callie are back in each other's space—because they will be teaching with each other in their old high school—sparks fly and it's like they were never separated.I have to say that I loved them together. There was never any drama for drama. Callie and Garrett are both caring individuals who truly love each other despite time and distance... always putting each other first. The chemistry between them is insanely sexy and the banter was completely fun. This is a warm and entertaining story with a small town feel, where everyone knows each other and is so family oriented that you feel as if you are a part of the story.I have said before that Emma Chase writes the BEST male POV and I love Garrett's protectiveness, kindness and actually I loved both his and Callie's positive roles in the high school teenagers lives. This story is completely relatable—like reliving the best years of high school all over again (I LOVED my high school experience)—while being emotional, and steamy and all around enjoyable.Narrators Zachary Webber and Andi Arndt stole the show for me and elevated what I already know about Emma Chase's writing—her writing to me is already amazing—but with these two talented narrators reading her words—Getting Schooled was complete perfection.I am VERY MUCH looking forward to Dean's story next! "This is us. This is our always."

This was a great second chance romance because Garrett and Callie's separation wasn't due to a miscommunication or a fight or them growing apart, but rather due to geography and educational and career goals that took them in different directions – literally. We do learn, much later in the book, that there was a major unresolved issue between them, but it wasn't what led to their split. Watching the two reconnect and fall in love again (though, I'm not sure if it's again when I don't think they ever stopped loving each other), seeing Callie find her way as a teacher, and witnessing them navigate a present together while not knowing if it would lead to a future together was emotional and entertaining. And then to have it all play out in a high school setting, even though the main characters are teachers and not students, was perfect! Oh, how the cliques abound, even after high school. Emma Chase usually reduces me to tears by making me laugh so hard I cannot breathe. While there were certainly some laugh out loud moments in Garrett and Callie's romance, they weren't responsible for my tears. There is a scene in the book that had me literally sobbing (I'm deep breathing right now to hold back the tears, just thinking about that scene). I won't tell you what happened – and hopefully no one else will ruin it either because if I have to deal with puffy and itchy eyes, you should too – but make sure you have a tissue on hand, just to be safe. The scene might not hit you as hard as it did me, but some of you will likely entertain the notion to stop listening for a bit – do if you need to because it's a heartbreaking scene, but make sure you finish the book because you won't want to miss what the rest of the story has in store for Garrett and Callie. No, Chase made sure to heal the hurt she inflicts with that scene. This is a first for me from both Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber. I've seen many romance audiobook lovers sing their praises, but as I listen primarily to M/M romances, I hadn't listened to either narrator before today. Both Arndt and Webber were fabulous, and I'll be sure to check out more of their work because they took the words of an author I love and brought them to life in a way that made it a pleasure to listen to. I was thoroughly entertained by their performances. And I am beyond excited to learn that Getting Schooled is the first book in a series! I'm so glad I listened to the interview with Emma Chase because there was nothing on Goodreads or Audible to suggest that there would be more books to come. I'm already looking forward to Dean's story!NOTE: I listened to this title via Audible's Romance Package.

What a audible book! The narrators are amazing and the story is very hilarious and sweet and amazing as well. I love second chance romances and this one is definitely one of my favorites. The funny parts had me laughing out loud and then swoon and wishing for a perfect ending which the author did amazingly. If you love romance you will love this audible! 5/5 stars ****Reviewed by Sweet & Spicy Reads a voluntarily Advanced Reader Copy of this book ****

Hands down, one of the best audio books I've listened to in awhile. I'm somewhat of a newbie to Emma Chase's works (I've read a few books from her legal series). The characters and storyline were great -- Light, funny (oh so funny!) and very little drama. I enjoyed the interview at the end of the book and look forward to what Emma Chase has in store for us next.

Easily one of the best books of 2018, made even more so by the enchanting narration of Andi and Zachary. I mean, their voices, dayuum. This has been my first audible experience, mostly because I couldn't conceive waiting till June to get my hands on the print, and I have to say, for having to start somewhere, I sure chose right :DThis is a low-angst, sweet, funny, hot and incredibly satisfying second chance romance. I generally shy away from the trope because these books tend to be too angsty and bitter for my taste, the whole you hurt me badly and I can't trust you spiel, so I'm happy to state that our MCs Garrett and Callie harbored no hard feelings, and it was goddamn refreshing. I loved how they cared, how they didn't even try to deny their feelings or make them out to what they weren't. They portrayed the perfect examples of two mature adults who have their shit together.Their romance alone would've made for a great book, trust me. But throw in the setting, the town, the school, the jobs and the gaggle of teenagers that make up the cast of characters, and Ms. Chase just took this book to the next level. Heartwarming, emotional yet light and sweet, I can't rave enough about this beautiful story. I can't wait for what's yet to come, because you can tell this is the start of another perfect series by one of my all-times favourite <3

He has built himself a life and is surrounded by friends but once Callie, his high school sweetheart and the only woman he ever loved, returns home it is like a missing part of him is back.Garret and Callie were young and in love until Callie needed to leave town to attend university and their relationship was unable to survive. From the moment they see each again it was like they had never been apart and they had never gotten over each other but will they both be left with broken hearts when the year is over? This story is a second chance at love for two soulmates that is full of laughs, tears, romance and everything in between. The narration was superb and it made you feel like you were right there experiencing it along with the characters. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Copy of this story.

Getting Schooled is Emma Chase's new epic second chance love story. I have read all of Emma's books and I have to say this is my favorite! I realize that is a bold statement, but it's true. It's hard to articulate how I feel about this book without just saying "I love it so much." Emma is just one of those writers who makes you feel so much with her words. She brings up memories, thoughts, feelings, desires. I can smell the trees. Hear the crowds. See the faces. Emma is just one of those writers who makes you feel so much with her words. She brings up memories, thoughts, feelings, desires. I can smell the trees. Hear the crowds. See the faces. Getting Schooled gave me all the feels. ALL! I laughed out loud, cried big fat tears, had to fan myself, cringed, smiled, and laughed more. These characters were everything! Garrett and Callie were high school sweethearts who were truly in love. It was real, all-encompassing love. They didn't fall out of love, they just wanted to follow their dreams. That took Callie to California and Garrett stayed close to home. When Callie needs to come home to help her parents, the minute she sees Garrett the sparks are flying. Callie takes a teaching job at the high school…with Garrett. She's not prepared for the students to be, well…total jerks. She needs help and Garrett is just the man for the job. Along the way, Callie starts to care about her students and what's she's doing with her classes. And she starts to care about Garrett. More and more every day. They realize they never stopped loving each other. It was always them. But Callie is only there temporarily. What happens if they fall in love again only to have her leave? Would it be worth it? Garrett wants to go all in. He didn't realize he was waiting for Callie to come home. He needs her in his life. Callie won't let go of Garrett again. Will her life take her back across the country or will she realize she was always meant to come home. To this town. To this man. I loved every damn second of this book. It wasn't only the rekindling of love between Garrett and Callie. It was the other teachers. The kids. Their families. It's the start of a new series and I already love this town and the people in it so much. As a New York, Italian, I loved it even more. Give me my Bill Joel, the Jersey Shore and these crazy people! Coach D and Callie stole my heart. Bring on Dean!

Another more than 5 stars worthy read, or should I say listen, from Emma Chase. I'm a huge fan of Andi Arndt. She just brings the right emotion and tone with her characters, bringing them to life. Now Zachary Webber on the other hand. Oh my god. That man has really stepped his narrating game up. I've listened to his other recordings and they were OK but this. *Speechless* I felt like I was right there at football practice. At the game. In the halls of Lakeshore High. Even during the chainsaw scene. I felt the raw emotion during that scene, and even the most saddest part in chapter 20. (view spoiler)[ I was put in the same position putting my fur baby to sleep. I should've known better when the story introduced me to Snoopy (hide spoiler)] but just know, I had to re-do my makeup. One thing I will say about this beautiful story, (view spoiler)[there was no love loss part. Garret and Callie stayed together the whole time (hide spoiler)] which just drew me in harder and now I want to re-listen to this amazing story again. Again if I can give this more than 5 stars, girl you have the galaxy.

I only have one demand... please let him not be a "whore"I love Emma Chase - her writing, her sense of humor. All of it is fucking awesome but almost every hero is someone who sleeps with anyone. This sounds like it would be fun - fingers crossed.
