4 stars. This was a cute book! Trick Play is Cam Mitchell and Lana's story. Cam is one of the pro-football players on the Mavericks. When his friend Quinn (from Wildcat) has a bachelor party at a strip club, Cam meets the woman of his dreams. He can't get her out of his mind and goes out of his way to pursue her. The only problem is the woman of his dreams, who he thinks is a stripper named Trixie, is actually Lana and she's way more than just a stripper. Lana has some big secrets. She likes Cam 4 stars. She likes Cam, but she has to stay focused on keeping her secrets in order to keep herself and everyone she loves safe. As she spends time with him, it gets harder and harder to keep him in the dark. When Cam finds out what Lana's hiding, he is not happy at all. But their strong feelings for each other overcome in the end. I really enjoyed this book! It is definitely my favorite in this series. I connected well with the characters and story. This was a fun, light read. It was quick and easy with Max Monroe's trademark humor, but it had a dash of suspense emotional punch as well. Yet, it was not OTT, forced, silly-funny. Cam was adorable and Lana was strong, yet still vulnerable. They were a great couple. I would have liked the conflict wrapped up a little sooner than the last few pages, but that did not stop my enjoyment. I also would have liked to see more of what their relationship was like once Lana's secret came out. Still, there is a cute epilogue to make up for it. Overall, this was a fun, entertaining read. I enjoyed watching Cam and Lana "tackle love"! I can't wait for more from the Mavericks and Max Monroe in the future!*arc provided in exchange for an honest review*

I skimmed to the end but this one just honestly missed me.The best thing about this book aside from Lana's family is possibly Cam's dedication in his pursuit of Lana, but considering the circumstances that too came across as unbelievable and this is coming from someone who loves instalove romances😂.All in all another fail for me, will I read the next book? unfortunately I most likely will 😭

*3 Stars* ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review. I don’t like to say this, but unfortunately with Trick Play, I just couldn’t really get into it. This is a first for me with this series and Max Monroe, but something about the book just didn’t hook me the way I normally expect with their stories. That said, there’s nothing wrong with the story itself, or the plot. It’s all about wondering when Trixie will come clean with Cam, and if or how they will end up together. That said, there’s nothing wrong with the story itself, or the plot. It’s all about wondering when Trixie will come clean with Cam, and if or how they will end up together. There are great secondary characters in terms of Trixie’s family, and of course we get some glimpses of the Mavericks as well. I just felt that I didn’t connect with the characters or feel that invested in their story. I’m wondering if this was just me though, and where I’m at with my reading right now.I have seen ALOT of positive reviews for this book, so I’m thinking I’m one of the odd ones out here. The whole idea of the storyline is a good one, and intriguing in itself, something a little different for this series from Max Monroe. I still look forward to reading the next book in this series, and whatever else comes next from Max Monroe. Review also on my blog - Trick Play - Max Monroe Follow me on:FacebookTwitterInstagram

Yay Cam and Lana! Another fun one and these two are so adorable together. “Sometimes brief encounters are meant to have the biggest impact.”Cam met Lana while she was shaking what her momma gave her. It didn’t end very well but she made a huge impact on him. Lana has reasons why she has to keep Cam at arms length but boy is he persistent. Seriously, I can’t even with Cam. His favorite movie is Notting Hill and he quotes from it! See, can’t even. I love Lana’s family, they are so entertaining. Th Yay Cam and Lana! My heart, I tell ya, my heart is swooning! I'm always excited when a Max Monroe book lands on my Kindle, but I was especially excited for this one. This whole series has been so amazing, but I have to say that Trick Play is the best of them all. It's got MM's signature rom-com humor mixed with sizzle, but in this case, there's an added layer of emotional feels. This time it's Cameron Mitchell's turn to fall hard for a special lady. It's got MM's signature rom-com humor mixed with sizzle, but in this case, there's an added layer of emotional feels. This time it's Cameron Mitchell's turn to fall hard for a special lady. Cam's a special guy on a team full of football gods. He's their tight end (cue the snickering jokes about HIS tight end) and is pretty darn confident about it. "God, he was so confident. Too confident. Like he'd had ten too many years getting everything he'd gone after and then some." But, at his heart, he's a great guy with an innate sweetness that only true gentlemen have. Then he meets this mysterious woman at the strip club where the guys have taken Quinn for his bachelor party. And he can't get her off his mind. This woman "was sex and innocence, and was the perfect combination of the two." And to top it all off, she won't give him her real name, so the only way he can track her down is to make himself really comfortable at the club, so he can spend time with her, hopefully to get to know her. And soon, they're indulging in hot romps at his home, but she always holds something of herself back from him. She even tries running from him a couple times. But Cam is nothing if not persistent when he wants something, and Lana (Trixie) is what he wants. If only she'd open up completely and let him know all of her, the real Lana. Not the stripper he met at the club, the real woman he gets glimpses of.Lana, gah, that woman was so frustrating! She had this big secret and I knew when it came out it was going to hurt Cam, and it did. Badly. She could have just been honest, but she was raised by men who lived for their jobs, and it made her the same way. Thank God her dad gave her a good lecture to get her head straight. And when she made up to Cam and apologized? Oh swoon. So sweet! These two were perfect for each other, with his quoting Notting Hill and her loving Dirty Dancing. And then that sweet, amazingly swoon worthy ending. Sheesh, I think my heart exploded from all the sweetness!Max Monroe has raised the bar with Trick Play. I can only imagine where they're taking us next!I received an ARC for an honest review.

He had me smitten and swoony and I was just a cloud 9 mess. I loved his patience and how he was an all around amazing guy. There's no question that Cam Mitchell is my favorite Maverick.'Trixie' was a stubborn thing. She was fierce and also a fireball. A badass through and though. There was more to 'Trixie' that met the eye. A mystery if you will. I loved how dedicated she was, she had a strong head on her shoulder. She was exactly the perfect match for a certain football player. I loved how Cam and 'Trixie' met. It was the start to a ride I didn't want to jump off of. From their very first encounter it was evident it was going to be one for the books. Their chemistry was fire! They were just so good together. I couldn't get enough of them and just wanted more more more.Trick Play was a hilarious, entertaining, sexy, addictive romantic comedy. It had me turning the pages at record speed in the hopes that it would never end. Cam and 'Trixie' will make your heart explode with happiness. I was so ecstatic to get back to the world of Mavericks football and catching up with previous characters from the other books. And I'm suuuuuuper excited for 4th & Girl, Leo's book. *happy dance* So glad I don't have to say goodbye to these guys just yet.

Although she is herself when she is with Cam the toll the lack of open communication weighs heavy between them. Especially as Trixie is so very guarded, raising a lot of red flags for Cam. Adding to the tension is Cam's fame from playing for the Mavericks while Trixie cannot risk being recognized!!!!!Cam and Trixie have the same desire to find a life partner to share the ups and downs with. I loved the imagery used of a lone wolf searching for its pack; especially poignant when both Cam and Trixie were having the same feelings at the same time just in different locations. The relationship and the intensity of emotions move along at a rapid pace but the progression felt organic and not at all contrived. Cam and Trixie quite simply fit. Although there are circumstantial problems to overcome there isn't anything between Cam and Trixie that cannot be fixed simply by being open and honest 💞

Trick Play by Max Monroe is the third book in their Mavericks Tackle Love series and the first I have read by this writing duo. This can definitely be read as a standalone, however, I am very excited to go back and read the previous books in this series as I loved all the characters. Cam Mitchell’s life could not be more perfect. He plays for the New York Mavericks and he loves his job and teammates. When they are out celebrating the upcoming wedding of one of his closest friends, the last thing he expects is to be arrested. Especially for coming to the rescue of one of the strippers. But that is exactly what happens. Trixie is more than a stripper. A lot more, but a girl has to keep her secrets. She could have handled herself just fine, but the man who stands up to protect her sure is hot, sexy and unforgettable. But she has plans and they do not include the sexy Cam Mitchell. So why can’t she stop thinking about him? Cam is so taken by Trixie and he can’t seem to get her out of his mind. He wants to get to know her, but she pushes him away at every turn. But a man like Cam is not so easily put off. Now he is finding himself falling for Trixie, but does he truly know who she is? I loved Tricked Play by Max Monroe. I could not stop reading. I laughed, I swooned and I hurt, but overall, I loved the characters, all of them, and their journey! The story was funny and sweet with just a touch of angst. It is a rom-com, sorta. More contemporary fiction with humor, I'd classify it as really, d/t a bit of angst and the hot and naughty in there too. Potato, po-tah-toe. It's a well-written, quick read. And, this is book 3 in the Mavericks series, a collection of interconnected standalones, that someone would have no problem picking up this book as the first one and following along. You have to suspend a bit of believability, but that's part of the fun. I enjoyed this book, and I loved the accompanying Spotify playlist that I will hang onto and listen to far into the future. Because great music never gets old. 4 stars.

So, I am going to leave this as saying that I enjoyed it.I recommend this title.

And as much as Trixie wants to fall for our boy, because their chemistry is through the roof, something is holding her back….and this where Max and Monroe throw us a curve ball!!!This book was so much fun to read!! I loved Cam so much more when this book was finished if that’s even possible. The fact that he and Trixie have so much fun together while also delivering the heat and we get setup for the next book left me with a smile on my face.

Those Mavericks sure know how to fall in love. Each man has been his very own brand of sweet. And Cam Mitchell is no exception. I just love him. I loved him from the beginning, but seeing him fall for Trixie is something special. Have you met the New York Mavericks yet? You know you want to.

Sigh. I enjoyed this story at the beginning (and partly in the middle as well) but the more I read the more I felt like Max Monroe didn't know how to end this book in exciting way—And of course it had to be exciting! *eyeroll*—so they decided that ending (view spoiler)[it with a raid and heroine's groveling (hide spoiler)] would be sufficient. But to me, it looked like one last puzzle piece that just wouldn't freaking fit into its place.

4 stars!!Cam Mitchell is the tight end for the New York Mavericks. He’s a responsible guy so when he gets arrested on the night of Quinn’s bachelor party, it’s definitely out of character. He just couldn’t stand by watching someone manhandle Trixie, the stripper who mesmerized him; now, he has to behave if he wants to remain on the team and he knows pursuing Trixie isn’t the best idea. Too bad he can’t seem to get her out of his mind. And it turns out Trixie has a secret that can jeopardize ever 4 stars!!Cam Mitchell is the tight end for the New York Mavericks. He just couldn’t stand by watching someone manhandle Trixie, the stripper who mesmerized him; now, he has to behave if he wants to remain on the team and he knows pursuing Trixie isn’t the best idea. Too bad he can’t seem to get her out of his mind. And it turns out Trixie has a secret that can jeopardize everything, especially when she feels a strong pull towards Cam. I liked his eyes. Brown and inviting with just a hint of flecked gold around the rims. But I also kind of hated them.I feared they held some sort of black magic power that could bring vulnerable, raw emotions to the surface. Or worse than that, the truth. I couldn’t get enough of this story. The plot and characters took me by surprise and the beautiful romance was fun, sweet, sexy, and swoony. Cam Mitchell is genuine, confident, and such a great guy that I couldn’t help but fall for him and fall fast. But he is lonely. I was saddened by his longing when everyone around him seemed to have that perfect someone. And Cam wants that. So, when a certain girl starts occupying his mind, he knows he’ll do anything to get to know her. Am I really calling the fucking strip club—for a second time—to check in on a stripper I met one time?I might be losing my mind. Trixie is hard working, has a good head on her shoulders, and is not was Cam expected. She is badass and fun but has a lot going on in her life that makes dating a little difficult, especially when the guy she is attracted to is in the spotlight. However, Cam makes her want things she hasn’t thought about in a while and I loved that she can’t stay away from him. Hard lines, harsh light, and heavy makeup, I was a shell of the woman I once knew myself to be.Cam’s questions and insight made me yearn to rediscover her. Trixie and Cam are so good together. There is a spark when they first meet that you could feel and their chemistry is electric. They crave each other but it’s complicated. The well-written sexual tension is ever present and when things grow hotter between Trixie and Cam, they light the pages on fire. It’s not all about the physical though and I loved watching Cam and Trixie get to know each other. Cam is wonderful with Trixie, so sweet and swoony, and wants to give her his all. Trixie has a hard time opening up but when she does I felt her emotions clear as day and I loved seeing her give Cam parts of the real her. I should’ve left.I should’ve ended this before it grew any deeper because, fuck, whatever was happening between Cam and me, it already felt too deep. Way too deep.I should’ve done a lot of things, but I didn’t. Couldn’t.This man had burrowed himself so deep inside me, and even though I knew this wasn’t smart, I knew this was a risk, I couldn’t find a single reason to walk away from him. They love hard but Cam and Trixie face some difficult. It’s not easy and they have to make decisions that hurt each other but in the end they are stronger than before. They love fully and unconditionally, something that couldn’t happen until they figured out the things in their lives and the wait was worth it. All I knew was that I’d found the answer to my longing, the cure to my emptiness—the someone I’d been searching for—and I couldn’t see myself ever wanting to leave. The epilogue was hilarious and it was so them. I loved the way everything went down and I had a giddy grin on my face and a happy heart when I turned the last page.I have to give a shout out to the secondary characters. I loved seeing all of the Mavericks again and they added a nice lightness to the story. Quinn and Sean were their awesome selves and I loved meeting Leo Landry. I also loved Trixie’s closeness to her family and the support they give. They are a hoot together and I hope we get to see more of them.I love the Mavericks Tackle Love series and I cannot wait for more!! Bring on Leo Landry in 4th & Girl, releasing November 20, 2018!*ARC generously provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review*

I mean, he has been permanently etched onto my book boyfriend list. I just…gah! Seriously, he embodies so many of the things I gravitate towards in a book boy. He’s smart, funny, motivated, dedicated…but most importantly, he’s kind of sensitive and romantic at heart. I just don’t get to read enough guys like him, and that feels like a shame. He likes romantic comedies you guys!!! He quotes Notting Hill! Watching him deal with his crush on Lana was nothing short of adorable!! I just wanted to push her in the face and step into her place. Oooo, that rhymed!! But seriously, he was upfront about his feelings, confident on the outside, nervous on the inside, and just a man of integrity and honesty. *sigh* Excuse me while I twitterpate. (and side shoutout to Lucky the Bulldog…you were hilarious, and I’m kind of bummed that we didn’t get more of you)Anyways, while I was fully enraptured by Cam, I definitely loved Lana as well. She could be a tough nut to crack, and I experienced many frustrations with her throughout the book, but I also understood why she was the way she was. I loved her dedication to her career, and the passion she had for it. I worried for her, and the situation she was in, but thankfully she made it to the end unscathed. I appreciated that while she was tough and “badass”, she also cried when her heart was broken (even though she was the one breaking it). It’s refreshing to have a tough girl who isn’t afraid to cry. And I LOVED her support system with her family and extended “family”. They were hilarious, and so cute with the way they cared for her.And OMG, the chemistry between Cam and Lana was just perfect. They gave me butterflies in the “crush” stage, and tingles in the steamy scenes. And they made me laugh with their banter back and forth.Seriously you guys, this book made me laugh out loud MULTIPLE times. I kept covering my mouth, even though I was home and my hubby had earphones on so it wasn’t like I was disturbing anyone. It was just so enjoyable to read.So yeah. Totes gonna have to read MUCH MORE Max Monroe now.

Some of the things dealt with in this story make it a little bit deeper and darker.I freaking adore Cam. I have liked him in the first two books, however I love his story."Trixie" is amazing - as a stripper and as everything else (and yes, there is an "everything else"). She is smart and sassy and so much more that you think.I don't want to give anything away about Cam and "Trixie's" story, but there is so much more to this story than just them falling for each other. It will keep you wondering what will happen to them next.I love love loved getting more of Quinn and Sean and their ladies - they had my laughing at times. There is also some great set up for the final Maverick's book, which is all about Leo. Sweet, sexy, smart and funny, I adored Trick Shot from the first word to the last.I can't wait to see what this duo bring us next

The evening does not end as planned, but Cam is totally distracted by Trixie, a stripper he feels a strong connection to, so he hardly cares. As he tries everything he can to find out more about her, but also attempts not to be stalkerish, we do get to know that he is a genuinely good guy. We also learn that there is a pretty big complication holding Trixie, aka Lana, back from getting to know Cam better. I love this extra twist and the dilemmas it brings to the story. The fact that we get both their POVs ensures we know the score, even when they are in the dark.As they do spend more time together - the problem of separating work from pleasure becomes an even bigger issue for Lana, and one that is causing her a crisis of conscience and threatening heartbreak. Obviously Max Munroe will give us the story we want, we just have to be patient, and enjoy the ride, in all its twists and turns. As in the other two books, there is some sport, although much of the romance happens away from the bright lights, for very good reason! I am looking forward to Leo's story coming soon.

Trixie -aka Lana Simone - is an undercover detective working to bring the owners of the club and she doesn't want to appear to be anything other than a girl down on her luck having to work the mean streets of Hoboken. Well, the pole anyway.Cam knows there's more to Lana than meets the eye but the on again/off again vibes he's getting from her confuse him. He genuinely cares about her but Lana's ability to close herself off from him is beginning to make him believe that she's just not that into him.Lana's realization that her career is not the most important thing in her life also causes to reflect on the person that is all that and wrapped up in a tight fitting jersey for her own personal enjoyment.~~Wicked Reads Review Team~~

What you have here is a sexy, steamy, funny and entertaining story that will keep you glued to the pages till the very end!

Another Amazing read by Max Monroe. BTW how hot is that cover...Trick Play is about Cam Mitchell who we have definitely come to adore and Lana Simone. I'm not having the best luck with the Mavericks series. Sigh.Instead of finding the shenanigans of the MC's cute and amusing, I thought they were silly and annoying.
