This Anthology has 4 Authors' Art withinEach novella is dark-fantasy. We get to know many types of characters, who have a good amount of depth for these stories being Novellas. The action keeps things moving along. There is plenty of angst, a bit of love, & loads of suspense. Recommended to anyone who is looking for a read that you can't put down!

The Aching Darkness: A Dark Fantasy Anthology was that perfect mix of everything you love about dark fantasy and more. As with will anthology's I review, I'm not going to get to much into the stories, as there are too many and I don't want to get mixed up, and with so many characters it happens. I will say that this anthology has been by far my favourite of the year. As I said it has everything, vampires, witches, mages, angels, demons, monsters, and my favourite, assassins. There is something for everyone, and for me I found that each story had the same high level of writing, flow, plot and overall cohesion. Each story drew you in, connected you with their characters and made you slightly obsessed with them.. (not naming names, by I have a few new book boy crushes). I liked how easy it was to fall into the next story. The action, suspense never stopped and I loved every minuted of it. You can tell a lot of work, care and dedication went into this wondrous anthology. Being as it was the first time reading for each author, I was impressed with how much I loved their writing. Normally I have a few favourites in anthology's, as you can't like everything. But The Aching Darkness, I can honestly say, I loved every single story. This book was everything I love about reading. It was like I finally found the perfect mix of terror=fantasy I've been waiting for. I can't expressed enough how much I am in love with this book and it's Authors. Take my high recommendation that you will not only love this book, but yearn to want more, more and more!Happy Reading -E.A. Walsh

This story has everything from vampires to witches and every story is written with a pace that will leave you breathless. The action in these stories is extremely well written and is used to drive the stories forward instead of having the stories revolve around the action. The romance portions were also well done and rather steamy; again they were background to the central stories and didn’t take away from the character building at all. I definitely have to give this collection of shorts a five star rating for the uniqueness of each story and the worlds they build.

I know that everything is supposed to build to the climax, but the final fight and the ending really made the story. I'm looking forward to the next parts of the story to find out all the mysteries that were disclosed.

Excellent CollectionI have just started with Brevity and I must admit it is a little different from what I am used to reading, but I enjoyed it. I am still realing from that scary movie vibe, even though it wasn't that scary.Everything about the book came together with all the elements that make a great book. The characters give you an interesting story. Even if you have not read other books in this series you could still understand what was going on.Until Next Time... Tabi

Brevity by Alexia Purdy is a great entry in this dark anthology. It is the prequel to The Vampires of Vegas series and tells readers the origin of the virus that changed everything. Alexia Purdy has done a masterful job of telling the story of how it all started, how the Vampires organized themselves and made the most of this new world order. It prompts me to reread the series with the benefit of this new insight. I also look forward to reading the rest of this collection. Will update as I read. If you love paranormal stories this anthology is for you. It contains vampires. Witches, angel, demons, and I could list more but you get the idea. I usually do not read anthology mixes but I am glad I took this group to read. Each of the authors has a unique writing style. There was enough detail in each story to keep your interest. The topics are a little dark in nature. There is enough material in the books that there is something for everyone. An entertaining anthology with vampires, angles, evil creations, demons and lots of action. I especially likes “Brevity” by Alexia Purdy. It is a great prequel to her Vampires of Vagus series and tells us how it all started. The characters are great, there’s lots of suspense and it leaves you wanting to reread the series. A thrilling anthology that’s full of action, suspense, love and uncertainty.

The Aching Darkness: A Dark Fantasy Anthology is an amazing Dark Fantasy Collection! I love anthologies with Novellas instead of short stories because you get so much more out of reading each story. I loved that some of my favorite authors were included in this! This collection is the perfect length! I look forward to reading more of what these authors have to offer!

This is a review for 'A Darker Fall', Parker Sinclair's short story in the anthology. It didn't take my long to get into this story. If I didn't have things to do that kept interrupting me, I would have read it from start to finish without stopping. It was paced very well, and well written.Would definitely re-read it.
