Hot Single Dad (Book Boyfriends, #3)
Reasons I need to stop fantasizing about Linnea:1. She’s too young for me.2. She’s my daughter’s nanny.I could stop there, couldn’t I? I’m already a cliché. The single dad who’s hot for the nanny. But it gets worse.3. She’s my sister-in-law.My wife died when our daughter was a baby, and Linnea was just a quiet teenager. I barely knew her. When my in-laws insist she move to Seattle to be my live-in nanny—after a string of caregivers who didn’t work out—I reluctantly agree. I wasn’t counting on the smoking hot blonde with sinful curves, kissable lips, and shy smile. Linnea is perfect for my daughter—fun, patient, and kind. She might be perfect for me too, but I can’t think that way. She needs to live her own life, not be saddled with my insta-family.Being around her is a special kind of torture, but I have to keep this infatuation to myself. I can’t fall for my daughter’s nanny. But it might be too late.

Hot Single Dad is by Claire Kingsley. In Book Boyfriend we met Alex Lawson. Then in Cocky Roommate, we met the sister, Kendra. Now in Hot Single Dad, Caleb gets his story. I first met Caleb in the previous books and knew him to be the more serious of the siblings. He had to be. Caleb is a trauma surgeon but more importantly, he is a single dad. He lost his wife, Melanie, when their daughter, Charlotte, was just a baby. Now Charlotte is six years old. Caleb recently moved to Seattle to be near his family. Charlotte is extremely shy and withdrawn. Caleb thought it would be better for her to be near his family. Plus he just wanted to be near them. He has missed them. He is having trouble managing his hectic schedule and trying to be a good dad to Charlotte. His family is pitching in but it’s still tough. He has gone through a couple of nannies but none have worked out yet.Linnea Frasier is twenty-two years old and recently graduated college with a music degree in piano performance. Linnea is the younger sister of Melanie, Caleb’s deceased wife. Linnea also grew up shy but she did love to play the piano. Linnea’s sister had been a successful surgeon like Caleb but with her gone, all her mother’s attention is now forced upon her. And let me tell you, this woman was determined her daughter would be a success, no matter what. Linnea’s mother decides that she should travel to Seattle and be Caleb’s live in nanny while she is practicing and auditioning for a permanent position in a symphony. Linnea and Caleb hadn’t seen each other in years. Linnea was still a withdrawn teenager the last time he saw her. So he was definitely not prepared for the curvy, beautiful woman that got off the plane. And Linnea is hit with an instant crush when she first sees Caleb. But both of them keep their attraction a secret. There couldn’t be more cards stacked against them. Linnea is the nanny, she is the younger sister of Caleb’s deceased wife, and there is a ten year age difference between them. This could never work.As the weeks and months go by, Linnea becomes part of the Lawson family. The bond grows stronger between she and Charlotte and Charlotte blossoms. The chemistry between Caleb and Linnea also strengthens. Could they risk letting their feelings be known? What if it doesn’t work out? What would happen to Charlotte? And Linnea’s manipulative mother isn’t done yet. She manages to once again insert herself into planning Linnea’s future. Will Linnea ever be able to speak her mind to her parents, to stand up for what she wants?Claire Kingsley once again managed to steal my heart with this one. I’m a sucker for adorable kids in my books and little Charlotte was so cute. I loved watching Linnea blossom as well. It was clearly the life she was meant for, the place she was meant to be. She just had to figure it out. I also loved getting plenty from Alex and Mia, and Weston and Kendra. Weston especially came through for Caleb. I have never started out disliking a character as much as I did Weston in the beginning of his book and loving him as much as I do now.Which brings me to the final tipping point that made this book a five star rating. This fabulous author added a little surprise mini chapter at the end of this book featuring Weston. That’s all I’m going to say for now, except that it will make you swoon for sure. Gosh I love that guy.So, if you haven’t read any of these books yet, get busy. Is that too bossy? Just take a look at them. They are all fabulous. I am just in love with these characters. I hope you will be too.

Why do I keep doing this to myself? It's obvious that I don't like this author's style and yet just because I'm curious I keep reading her books. This one was just like the others in series. And honestly, this whole sister-in-law thing was an eek for me. I didn't feel the love or anything.

Hot Single Dad is the third installation in the Book Boyfriends series. In it, you will meet Caleb and Linnea. They were cute and shit - plus their story was a bit different that what I usually read in a romance. So, Caleb was married to Linnea's sister but then she died. However, she left behind a beautiful six year old girl Charlotte.Linnea's family (aka parents) never really cared about her or her future. The short version of how they get into each other's lives is all due to her mom - she makes her become the nanny for Charlotte.Along the way, their crushes and feelings popped up. They had some sparks and chemistry - which made me like them a bit more. Their relationship was cute but ugh, I hated the mom in this. I hated how she looked down on both her kid and caleb. Overall, it was cute and I look forward to dive into the other books in this series.

Yep. Three books inside of five days. I did that. I would have had them finished sooner, but I don't get paid to read so I had to actually go to work. Gross. Anyway, Caleb. Yeah, there's something about a hot, single dad that has women dropping their panties and throwing themselves (vagina first) at them. I get it. There's just something sexy about a man who cares for and spends time with his child. There's just something about a man who puts his little girl--or guy--first in his life. Silly, bu Yep. Silly, but that's how it is. Don't mind me, I'll be over here, grabbing a new pair of panties. Linnea. Man, I had to ask how to pronounce that name, but after figuring it out, I have to say it's one of the most beautiful names I've stumbled upon. And she's just so amazing. Kind, caring, giving, nurturing, sweet, beautiful. She's just all the things and so much more. It's no wonder Caleb and his darling daughter, Charlotte, fall for her. She's the missing key to this duo. But, as with any story, real or fiction, there are complications. Things that make this relationship more difficult than it should ever have to be. What things, you ask? Well, there's the age gap, the fact Linnea is Charlotte's nanny, oh and one other teeny, tiny thing that I'll force you to find out on your own. But the odds are against them, as they are with many couples. This is one couple you don't want to miss. And if you make it this far, I think you'll want to subscribe to Claire Kingsley's newsletter so you can read her short story about a certain cool kid and her bestie. The following is a spoiler for book 2, so read at your own risk(view spoiler)[**Did I mention this book has an extra little WESTON bonus?! OMG. As if one sexy dad wasn't enough, WESTON IS BABYWEARING! (hide spoiler)]

4.5 stars.Third book in this series, boy oh boy did I enjoy reading all of them (great vacation reading). Claire Kingsley is now a favorite author for me and what I really liked here was her writing style and storylines, they were so fun and relatable. Great contemporary romance writer and she sexes it up just enough for me. Also it was a perfect finish to the series, she even threw in an extra bonus chapter for Kendra and Weston from the second book in this series.

Based on Carol [Goodreads Addict], I gave this a try not knowing it was a sequel to Book Boyfriend which started out strong and wimped out for me.Hot Single Dad was sooooo much better. If you liked BB, Mia and Alex are still here, but this story is about Caleb and Linnea and is just too sweet. I usually hate sibling to sibling plots, but I'm going with this as the two never really knew each other. Caleb is widower with a six year old little girl, Charlotte, and essentially receives Linnea as his new nanny. Linnea is his dead wife's little sister, and she is quite grown up as in pinup bombshell material. Linnea's insufferable parents demanded that she go be the nanny as she needs time to practice to be the world class pianist THEY want her to be. I have really been on a narcissistic mother roll lately.Anyway, instant attraction between Caleb and Linnea. For a contemporary romance, their build up is pretty slow, but it works and is quite sweet. When they finally get together it is rather smoking. Charlotte is more than a stock character plot moppet and is pretty adorable. Well done and charming proposal.Linnea's parents, really her mother and don't mothers almost always do the dirty work, tries to manipulate and control some more, and I received a lot of satisfaction from Linnea's response.HEA!

Thanks to whispersync, I both read and listened to the audiobook, narrated by Savannah Peachwood and Rock Engle. You don't need to read the previous books to enjoy this one, but the series is interconnected, so previous characters do appear.Caleb was just as sweet and loving as he was in the previous books, but getting to finally be inside his head helped to understand how he struggled to balance his home and professional life. I loved his relationship with his daughter Charlotte and his family. His confusion and hesitation regarding pursuing a relationship with Linnea was honest and realistic. I was amazed that it was Weston who actually gave the best advice in the book. I also really liked Linnea and felt that her kind and nurturing personality complemented Caleb very well. She definitely grew throughout the book, but sometimes her age and naivete were very apparent. One of my favorite moments in the book was their first kiss. Emotions were running so high and this is where listening to the audio really took it to another level. Rock Engle was amazing as sexy and vulnerable Caleb! He gave such an emotional performance and I could feel all of Caleb's confusion, anger, longing, desire, and love. Engle's enthusiasm during the more intimate scenes will have you fanning yourself too! I also really enjoyed Savannah Peachwood's performance, and her narration as the shy and youthful Linnea was excellent. Engle and Peachwood complemented each other very well and of the three books in this series, this was my favorite narrating duo.I will admit that though I really enjoyed the book, it took me a bit to wrap my head around a few things due to personal preference/feelings. First, I'm not usually a fan of the dead spouse trope. It takes me longer to be on board with the romance when I know in the back of my mind that the previous relationship/marriage either wouldn't have ended or wasn't given a chance to end naturally. Second, the heroine happens to be the hero's former sister in law. Linnea is Charlotte's aunt, but will Charlotte call her mom? Will it be confusing for Charlotte that her future siblings will actually be her cousins too? Having sisters myself, this was a really tough pill to swallow. Third, the heroine is about a decade younger than our hero. The ten years isn't as big of an issue for me, as the actual age of our heroine is. It's just hard when the characters are in different stages of their lives (especially with Caleb settled with a daughter and Linnea a recent college graduate). Many readers will have no issues with these items, but for me it definitely gave me pause. I think what helped me understand the story most was the Afterword at the end of the ebook. Honestly, it is such a shame that these Afterwords from the author are not included in the audio versions. They give so much insight into the thought process of the character and that, coupled with the advice Weston dispenses in the book to Caleb, really helped me put my personal feelings aside and just enjoy the story. The epilogue brought a huge smile to my face and seeing all the former couples as well as Mr. Lawson a little into the future was perfect. The end of the ebook also includes a bonus chapter from Weston's POV and his adjustment to fatherhood (Gah! I love him so much!), as well as a link to a short story featuring Caleb's daughter Charlotte and her friend Noah in the future. Definitely recommend this series and I'm sad that it's come to a close.Audiobook ReviewOverall 4.5 starsPerformance 5 starsStory 4 stars

A lovely end to the Book Boyfriends series. Caleb Lawson is a single dad to the shy and adorable Charlotte, working crazy hours as a trauma surgeon. Due to his in-laws insistence, their younger daughter is sent to help look after their granddaughter. Linnea is a brilliant pianist, who is still figuring out what she wants to do while waiting for a spot to open up at one of the symphonies. She takes the opportunity of looking after her niece as a way for her to be out from under her parents contro A lovely end to the Book Boyfriends series. It was a steady buildup between them, with many factors playing a part - age difference, family perceptions and the cute six-year old. It was great to see Linnea grow and become more confident. And a nice epilogue, with a bonus about Weston from Cocky Roommate. And another bonus and so welcomed was the bonus book about Charlotte and Noah. If you sign up to Claire Kingsley's newsletter you'll get this little gem Her Best Friend that also gives a look into everyone's lives a few years on.

I received an ARC for an honest review of this book. It was no hardship. It was the third book about the Lawson siblings, and I was so glad to read Caleb's story. He was in love with his dead wife sister ( LINNEA )and he said he really doesn’t know her but come on I really tried to be with the story but my brain wouldn’t let me. Didn’t feel right whn LINNEA kept referring herself as a nanny?!? What the hell?? Charlotte is her freaking niece! It’s just gross.

I don't really care for the single parent trope, or the May/December (age difference) romances, but the Book Boyfriends series has me in so deep I couldn't not read this third and final book in the series despite it being about some of my least favorite tropes. That being said, this was my least favorite in the series - which had a lot to do with the aforementioned least fave tropes. This is the third book in the Book Boyfriends series, and while it can be read as a stand alone, there are some spoilers for the first two books in this one. I think you'll also appreciate some turnabout is fair play type of circumstances (like Weston giving Caleb some much-needed advice) that you'd only really get if you've read the earlier books in the series. Caleb's siblings and their significant others make a fair amount of side character time in this one as well, and if you haven't read the earlier books in the series they might seem pretty... weird. THEY ARE SO LOVABLE, I PROMISE. I highly recommend reading Book Boyfriend and Cocky Roommate before reading this one. There's also a follow-up novella, her Best Friend, about Charlotte and Noah, which I haven't quite decided yet if I'll read.

This book was cute, really really cute and family oriented. The title did and didn't match the story in a way but when read it from a to z it fit but I would have love a more sweeter title. It was really nice to have a bio of the characters and also a book about the 2 children in the upcoming one.

ugh = 1* but +1 for Weston = 2*This follows from Book Boyfriend and Cocky Roommate. Each of these three follow a different romance book trope, which the characters Alex, Mia, and Kendra are fully aware of. I read the blurb for this one and knew it was single dad plus nanny combined with relative/friend of dead wife. Neither of these are really my thing but given the first two books were pleasant and had solid if unexciting writing I was looking forward to the book. Oh was I disappointed. Linn ugh = 1* but +1 for Weston = 2*This follows from Book Boyfriend and Cocky Roommate. Neither of these are really my thing but given the first two books were pleasant and had solid if unexciting writing I was looking forward to the book. Oh was I disappointed. Linnea is Cade's (former) sister-in-law and current nanny. She is 22 and he is early thirties. Without any other description that is going to be a bit creepy and would need some sensitivity to pull it off in a romantic manner. I would like to say Ms. Kinglsy tried but failed but she did not even do that. Where I liked Cade in the first two books I very quickly disliked him. From minute one his chapters are all about how much he loves Linnea's body. There is nothing that shows the two of them having anything in common other than lust. When he decides he is going to see if she is interested in a relationship with him he says it is important to talk to her about all the implications, especially her parents and how she feels about her deceased sister. But that conversation never occurs. Basically they just hop into bed. So much for taking things slowly and carefully. There was not a single thing I liked about this couple. There were also several inconsistencies. For example Linnea mentions that the couple do a baby sitting swap with another couple. Then at the end of the book Cade has no idea who the man in that couple is. I hate that sort of thing. Literally the only thing I liked about this book was the characters from the other books. Especially Weston. I smiled every time he came along and did a typical Weston thing. And clearly the author knew he was more interesting than Cade and Linnea as she includes a chapter at the very end that is all about Weston and what he is up to now. It was cute.

I know it sounds like a lot but they are each threads that Claire weaves into a tender and loving relationship that is solid and true. Having the rest of the family, Alex and Mia, Kendra and Weston and Charlotte's new friend Noah along to provide laughs and advice and tons of live just makes the story that much richer. I am so very glad to have met the Lawsons and I know I will go back and revisit them in the future.

So Caleb is actually an old acquaintance. We catch a peek of his story in Claire’s previous books so if the reader has read the first books, Caleb’s life is already figured out. Linnea is simply gorgeous but mostly she is the sweetest girl he has ever laid eyes on. On the other hand Linnea has a crush on Caleb but since she is so shy, she feels she doesn’t have a chance with him. So, how will things go from here? It is not my duty to reveal the surprise but what can I say…..Claire has written once again a smashing story with two beautiful characters. The story mainly whirls around Caleb, Linnea and little Charlotte catching also a glimpse of his unique family. I loved this book, it is simply magical.

I had been highly anticipating Caleb's story- and she certainly did not disappoint! I have loved getting to "know" all the characters along the way throughout the past books- ( this can be read perfectly well as a standalone ) for me - reading Calebs POV about his bug Charlotte; his job, etc. was the icing on the cake of these of books!Once again, I find myself blown by how much I loved this book in the end! Definite five stars from me!

This story was so cute and well written. I have been waiting for this story for a while now and I was not disappointed. I really enjoyed the characters and how they related to each other. I feel in love with Caleb in chapter 14, I mean seriously I think I highlighted the entire chapter and had to stop reading because I was swooning so hard. When you read it you will understand. In that moment, Caleb was my perfect man (my heart becomes his in that moment). As with all of Claire’s stories, I crie This story was so cute and well written. I fell in love, laughed well, and am sad it is over. I highly recommend this story for any reader but especially those readers who have been following this family for years. It is well worth the wait. . I received an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.

Rowena: Holly and I have been digging the Single Dad romances lately so when Hot Single Dad came on to our radar, we knew that we were going to read it and read it together. Claire Kingsley is a new to us author and we were happy to dive right in.Caleb is a single Dad who works long hours at the hospital and needs a little help caring for his young daughter. When his late wife’s parents offer the services of their other daughter, Linnea, Caleb isn’t wild about the idea but he doesn’t turn them down. He figured he would get the help he needed and his young daughter Charlotte would get to know her Aunt Linnea. He didn’t figure that Linnea would turn his world upside down and that he would be so attracted to her. When Linnea returns that attraction, things get really interesting. What a cute story this turned out to be. What did you think, Holly?Holly: I was a little hesitant about going into this book because the blurb mentions an age gap and I hate when that’s the main focus of a story. That ended up being a small part of it, however, and I thought the story was really cute.Rowena: Not me. I jumped right in and was super excited about it. While I didn’t LOVE it and want to shout about my love from the rooftops, I still really enjoyed the book. Caleb and Linnea’s romance was sweet and I liked how it unfolded. I loved seeing both of their relationships with Charlotte and gah, this book was just oozing sweetness.Holly: I liked what a great dad Caleb was. He wasn’t some inept fool who needed a woman to do everything for him. He had it all handled, he just needed a babysitter for when he was at work.Rowena: I agree with you about Caleb. He was a great father to Charlotte and I really liked that he loved spending time with her and treasured the time he had with her. He didn’t let Linnea take care of Charlotte while he was home. He didn’t lean on Linnea for anything. He took being a Dad seriously and he tried the best he could. What’s not to love about that? What did you think about Linnea’s parents and that whole thing?Holly: I didn’t like her parents at all, and that the aspect of the book that left me the least satisfied. The resolution with them left a lot to be desired.Rowena: Same. I thought the Mom was really dumb and that part of the book was so small that it didn’t feel necessary.Their awkwardness with each other when their feelings are first brought out into the light was cute. It could have easily been super cheesy and not fun but I enjoyed that. I really enjoyed how they became a team where Charlotte was concerned and I liked the relationship that Linnea formed with Charlotte. Were you at all itchy about Linnea being Caleb’s sister in law?Holly: I expected to feel kind of skeevy about the sister-in-law thing, but I didn’t. Maybe it was the way it was written, but the focus wasn’t on it so much that I felt like it was a huge deal. You?Rowena: It didn’t bother me any. I enjoyed Caleb and Linnea together and the way that they were with Charlotte. They were two good people who fell in love with each other and I dug their story.I give this book a 4 out of 5. You?Holly: I’m giving it 3.5. As sweet as the story was, I felt a little disconnected from it somehow. I enjoyed it, but I had to reread it before we began our discussion.Holly’s Grade: 3.5 out of 5Rowena’s Grade: 4 out of 5

Book Boyfriend, we met the older brother Alex who's a writer. In Cocky Roommate we met their sister, Kendra who's a freelance editor and now, it's Caleb's turn in Hot Single Dad.In out of the three Lawson Siblings, Caleb is the more serious one and a single father to a beautiful and shy girl, Charlotte. He's a trauma surgeon and has a very busy schedule due of his work. He married early but lost his wife after his daughter Charlotte born because of the car accident. Since then he take care of his child while busy on his Job. Trying to balance his life as a father and a trauma surgeon. Now, Charlotte is six years old, shy and withdrawn child and they moved back to his home town Seattle to be with his family again. He missed his family so much and he thought that it's better to be near with them. Being a single dad he did everything for Charlotte, to be a good dad to her, his family especially his siblings (Alex and Kendra, but mostly Kendra) helps him to look after Charlotte but it was not enough and Charlotte is having a hard time in school due of her shyness. Caled tried to get some Nanny for Charlotte but each one of them either they left Charlotte or none of them really work. While, Linnea is a recently graduated twenty-two years old and has a degree in music. Younger sister of Melanie, Caleb's deceased wife. Every since her sister died their mother focused on her. To maker her successful in a famous orchestra. But Linnea is a shy girl ever since childhood and music is her passion especially piano. She loves to teach children but her mother has other plans for her. To be a successful pianist in a famous Orchestra/Symphony group. Linnea's mother makes her pack her bags and moved to Seattle and lived with Caleb and Charlotte and become nanny of Charlotte while practicing and auditioning to a symphony. The last time Caleb saw Linnea when she was just a shy and withdrawn teenager. Years later since Melanie died. He doesn't know what will Linnea will be look like while waiting at the airport with Charlotte. Due of not seeing each other for years, it didn't make Caleb prepared when her saw Linnea when she came out from the plane. Hot, sexy, curvy body of beautiful woman. While Linnea had a insta-crush to Caleb. Both of them are attracted to each other but there's some other things that stop them and be nice to each other first. 1. Linnea was Melanie's younger sister, 2. Caleb was 10 years older than Linnea (on his 30's), 3rd. She was living in his place to take care of Charlotte and 4th, it will never be work out for the two of them. Plus the fact that Linnea's parents especially her mother was not a fan of Caleb even before Melanie died.Things are good while Linnea staying with the Lawson family. She met Caleb's family and met new friends, teach Piano in a near by Music shop. And Caleb and Linnea are getting to know each other every each day, weeks and months and their chemistry are getting closer and stronger every each day. The bond to both Charlotte and Linnea blossoms and each passing day Linnea loves more of the shy child. Even if she doesn't care that some mothers are talking about her and Caleb's and Charlotte's life (due of a lot of nannies left). But both of Caleb and Linnea still thinking if it's worth the risk if they let go of their feeling for each other. How about Charlotte's feelings? Also Linnea's mother. Her mother was a manipulative and she will do everything so that Linnea won't get close to Caleb. And that's why she manage to get some connection to make Linnea Audition to a very famous symphony and she will do anything to separate Linnea to the father and daughter. Will Linnea stand up for what she wants and talk to her parents and will Caleb loves her?Actually, I like Caleb's story but there's some scenes that dragging to me or too slow pace for me. I love on how Charlotte change in the story also to Linnea who starting to know what she wants and she really wants to be part with the Lawson family especially she really loves both Caleb and Charlotte. Sometimes, Linnea irritates me because of her issues with her mother but I'm glad that she manage to get herself to her feet and know what she wants in her life and fights for it. It's nice to see the other Lawson siblings like Alex and Kendra even Mia. But I'm so happy that there's a lot of scenes of Weston. if it's not because of him, this book will be just a typical cliche story. The plot is okay but the conflict is kinda cliche.4.0 out of 5,0 stars.

Loved it but it's a sleepy Sunday afternoon for me so here's my lazy lady summarization :Sexy times between hot, sexy, single daddy doctor and shy and sweet NILF (NANNY I'd like to...) +A few cute scenes with nanny's shy young charge sprinkled in for moments of "awwww" +A bitchy mother/mother-in-law thrown in for drama (and in order to tempt you to throw your Kindle across the room)= an all round enjoyable read. I've not been disappointed by Claire Kingsley yet.
