Once Upon a Ghost (Murder by Design #3)
With Bailey Burke’s design and staging business booming- it turns out tangling with a serial killer is the best advertising ever- she has no time to lament her lack of love life, or wonder where her dead friend Ryan’s ghost has gone. She hasn’t seen him in months, but when she finds a body in a home she’s been hired to stage she’s hounded by the dead man’s ghost.Having been a medium before, this guy is by far the most irritating ghost she’s ever met, with his constant need to talk over her and flick pennies at her head. Without Ryan to guide her, she’s on her own to figure out what the dead man needs from her. On top of all that, cop Jake Marner is back in her life, ostensibly to protect her, but mostly to confuse her as to whether they are dating or not. Before she can say “Put It Where?” Bailey finds herself immersed in mob dealings, the secret world of male-only sweat baths, and double dealings. When another body turns up, there is no doubt that she’s in over her head… again.

Once Upon a Ghost (Murder by Design #3) Review

Once Upon a Ghost is as unique as Erin McCarthy. I'm still trying to figure her out as an author, but boy am I enjoying the experience. It takes a vivid imagination to come up with characters as eccentric as they are lovable. Where else would you find a designing ghost whisperer and her brand of over the top scenarios and haunting clients? Mysteries tend to get too serious and Ms. McCarthy delivers all the intrigue with a hint of light, crazy and fearless fun.

I thoroughly enjoyed this conclusion to McCarthy's Murder By Design Series. Bailey Burke is a spunky, likable heroine, and this book once again finds her seeing and interacting with ghosts. This book is fun, filled with quirky characters and plenty of action. This is a lighthearted cozy mystery with a touch of romance.

Bailey has a very challenging past year or so. First, she loses Ryan unexpectedly but now he has been reappearing to her as a ghost trying to provide her guidance. Next, she is kidnapped by a psychopath trying to kill her because he doesn’t want to bust him for bad activities killing people. Her paranormal powers have created her to be standalone from her friends and even her kind of boyfriend Marner when she talks paranormal.Bailey has taken on a new job to stage a new old home for sale. As she is working on it she finds a body on the deck and its dead. What she finds out later is she is the only one that can see the body not the cops or anyone else. The escapades that happen in this book between the ghost and bailey at times were hilarious and some time you actually felt bad for her because they didn’t believe her. I thought the story had many fun twist and turns in it. As usual Ern McCarthy is an awesome writer. I have loved her writing and this book and series does not disappoint. I highly recommend reading this book. I have fallen for this character and her desire for the shy cop. Give it a chance it’s a good Romance with a twist of mystery.I provided this review after receiving an ARC from the Author.

The schvitz and storage unit are just to name a few.Jake is a conundrum. He likes Bailey but is having a hard time with things. We do see him go out on the limb in this book. He is the one who tries to ground Bailey but isn’t having much luck. This is a fun light hearted quirky book as you go on a whodunit with a quirky Bailey, serious Jake and ghosts galore that has you thoroughly entertained and wanting more. I wonder where the series will go now after all that was revealed and can’t to find out.

Marner just can't get enough of his girl, “you’re lucky I’m hungry,” he said. “Or I’d drag your tempting little butt back to bed.” When his woman is out of it marner likes to bust her chops, “you just talked about how hot I am, how much you like my muscles.” This is the first book I've read by Erin that wasn't New Adult, it was alright I didn't hate it but I didn't love it as much as her other genre.

Erin McCarthy hit another one out of the ball park. I loved this. I loved the suspense of finding out who killed the ghosts. And something always happens to Bailey when she is investigating who did it.

She is an unlikely hero but is one all the same. These books are well written and humorous. I am very sad to hear that this is the last one planned in the series! I really hope that Ms. McCarthy changes her mind and there are more in the future! I highly recommend that you read all three books in the series if you have not done so already.

Fun fast read. Third book in the series I suspect is the final, to truly appreciate it you should read the previous books. Bailey's world was turned upside down with death of her friend Ryan, but he reappeared to her in the first book and thus began her seeing and talking to ghosts. In this installment, Bailey finds what she thinks is a dead guy at a house she is supposed to stage for selling and the adventure takes off from there. This is the third book in the series Murder by Design. For me it is the best of the three. I like the story line and the well written plot. Bailey is a great character and well described. This was a good read for sure. I loved her reactions and how she's just enough of a priss that when she finds herself in situations she's uncomfortable with, she's coming up with stuff on the fly that actually gets her off the hook. This one is a bit different from the last two and I really enjoyed that. Yes, there's still a ghost bugging her, but this one really kept my attention and had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes at times. Great addition to the series. I didn't realise this was the last book in the series until I read some other reviews. No more Bailey, Marner and Ryan makes me very sad.The author has most definitely saved the best until last with this book. I started highlighting 'funny' passages, but ended up with most of the book picked out. It made me laugh so many times with all the funny, witty and snarky comments and thoughts.I'm hoping this isn't the last we see of this well written and fun group. At least Bailey got her guy.

This is book 3 in the Murder by Design series and it features Bailey, Jake and Cezar Wozniak. Bailey and Jake are getting closer, which is fantastic! We see a sexier side of Marner, which adds a little bit of spicy angst to this book. Cezar, the ghost, is a real pain in the butt, as most of them are. Once Upon A Ghost is the third book in the Murder By Design series. Once again Bailey is back at it and finds another ghost, this one the most irritating yet. While she tries to figure out what the ghost needs, she tangles with Jake, the cop, who is trying to protect her again. She struggles to figure out what both Jake and the ghost want from her. Can she figure it out? This story was really good. I definitely recommend it.

Really liked the book and how things turned out for Bailey, Jake, and Ryan. I was a bit worried about how things would turn out after the ending of the previous book but things turned out quite well. I didn't see the plot twist on who was the bad guy but there was no reason to suspect that character at all or at least none that I noticed.
