Then I expanded the photo and realized my mistake. *epic sad face is epic* Congrats, Alex Mecum! *fake smile* *grumbles*(b) The main character's name is Gideon! What? I have a name kink. Don't judge. This Gideon is eerily reminiscent of another (also slightly Neanderthalish) Gideon I've lusted over read before and while Sylvia Day might take exception to the similarities, my thoughts are more akin to...The story itself is not groundbreaking and rife with non/miscommunication with a heaping of martyr syndrome that I loathe. Lucy is up for a promotion at her good ole boys law firm and won't get it unless someone puts a ring on it. Gideon's a friend of her ex-fiancé and was once hers too, so that coupled with his reputation as a skilled headhunter, leads her to hire him to find her a suitable husband. His reputation as a sex gawd leads her to ask him for "lessons" on how to have the HILLY DILLY amazingly since her ex told her she was a bad lay. Can you say projecting, boys and girls? Regardless, the boning is top-notch! On the couch, on a conference table AT A FANCY SCHMANCY CLUB, a naughty video chat, in a lingerie dressing room and they did make it to the bedroom a couple times. Gideon's also on the bossy/toppy side too! I mean...Seriously, this thing should come with a complimentary box of wipes, a pack of cigs and some Gatorade. I will most definitely be reading the next in this series. One-handed, but still. Now that I know what I'm in for I will be prepared like the devoted Girl Scout I am to see Roman getting his swerve on!Recommend to... hells bells, you know who you are. It’s a friends to lovers trope story with a hero tasked with finding a husband for the heroine only to discover he wants the role for himself!Lucy Baudin’s last relationship ended in heartbreak when she discovered her fiance was cheating on her. Not only that, but he’d made her feel inadequate in the bedroom, dealing a blow to her self esteem. She’s an accomplished lawyer but to be considered for partner, her odds would be better if she wasn’t still single due to some lingering misogynistic attitudes among the old guard. Lucy’s not interested in the dating scene so she comes up with a better plan – hiring her friend Gideon Novak, an accomplished headhunter, to find her a husband. The last thing Gideon wants is to play the role of matchmaker for Lucy. If things had worked out differently, she’d have ended up with him instead of his loser friend Jeff who didn’t appreciate what he had. Residual guilt over not telling Lucy about Jeff’s extracurricular activities in a more timely fashion means he can’t turn down her request. The trouble is he doesn’t think any of the men he knows are good enough for her. And when Lucy approaches him for some ‘practice’ in the bedroom to help curb her self esteem issues, Gideon can’t say no to that either. Now he’s got a dilemma on his hands. Having Lucy in his bed fulfills his wildest fantasies. Is he really going to watch her marry someone else? For more of this review please visit Harlequin Junkie: http://harlequinjunkie.com/review-mak...A copy of this story was provided by the publisher for review.

I loved that their passion was so fiery and that the more time they a spent with one another they realized how great the other was. I did get frustrated with Lucy at times however as I felt she was so in her head all the time overthinking things. Likewise, Gideon's aboutface came out of nowhere and was SO random that I actually went back to see what I missed. But all in all It hought this was such a fantastic spin on a mathmaker/friends to lovers story and honestly hope we get Roman's story next!! MS Robert has written a story with fabulous dialogue and a connection between Gideon and Lucy that will leave the reader smiling, I highly recommend this one.

I couldn't care less for the characters, and I didn't feel their chemistry at all. I'm sad because there was so much potential and yet it fell flat for me.Will keep an eye out for Roman's book, tho.E-ARC is received thanks to the publisher via Netgalley.

She's decided she needs to get married to secure partnership at her law firm, as some of the old-timers at the top still have outdated ideas about single women. So, she calls on her friend Gideon for help, though she hasn't seen him in quite some time. Gideon Novak is a headhunter, and he's the best in the business. When Lucy approaches him about using his skills to fill the position of her husband, he's totally thrown. But, he owes her, so he agrees to do it. He also agrees to her additional stipulation, regarding brushing up on her sexual skills. As if any man wouldn't be thrilled to have her as she is. He's had feelings for her for a long, long time. But he's not the keeping kind, and he feels Lucy deserves better. So he has to take what he can get, and keep the memories. He has no idea how hard that will turn out to be. Not to mention that picturing her with another man makes him ragey. Gideon and Lucy's chemistry was off the charts once they got together. I loved seeing their interactions, and watching as they realized that there was no way they could keep things casual between them. They each had their own reasons for the separation of their friendship, but they were so happy to be back in each other's lives, and that helped to blur the lines of their feelings even more. Though Gideon makes a bonehead decision, I like how they both fought for what they wanted, and that it wasn't solely on Gideon to make the move toward making things right. I really enjoyed Lucy's sister as a side character. Her book isn't next, but I'm hoping she'll get one, because I would love to know more about her, and her dating exploits. Gideon's best friend Roman was an interesting character as well, and his book IS next. I'm definitely intrigued by him, and I'm very much looking forward to his story.I highly recommend this book for a quick, steamy read, with well written characters that really make you feel for them. Plus, despite the fact that Lucy is looking for a complete stranger to make her husband by the end of year, she refuses to tell Gideon her true feelings for him in case she ruins their friendship! How about you tell him and marry him as it's clear you both have strong feelings or each other instead of marrying some random stranger that you've known for 2 minutes! The writing for this book is what saved it slightly and despite the bad plot points is was a well written book and the sex scenes were super steamy. But ultimately, as mentioned above I couldn’t get over all the bad plot points which is why I rated this 2 stars.

Was given an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.Make Me Want is about Lucy getting her mojo back and using her friend Gideon for help. I am a fan of Ms. Roberts, but this story has been done before. h comes off bad break up, uses hot H to help her feel like a women again, but then falls in love with said H. Overall it was an enjoyable read and Ms. Roberts does a good job with the story. Can’t wait to see what happens to Roman!

3.5 starsSo out of the four Dare books that I have read thus far, this one was my least favorite of them. Not that the plot was bad or anything like that, it was just missing something to give it that extra special something that would have made this book magical. Not that the plot was bad or anything like that, it was just missing something to give it that extra special something that would have made this book magical. There was a missing spark there, and it didn’t give me the feels like the other Dare books have. I thought I would like this book a lot more than I did especially since the trope was friends to lovers. And that part was okay, but it was less angsty than I expected. For one, Lucy and Gideon spent almost two years apart so all that built up anticipation wasn’t quite there, therefore there wasn’t a lot of angst going on. They meet again and boom they jump into a physical relationship pretty quickly. There wasn’t a lot of denial going on, and that’s why I love to see in the journey with this type of trope. So there was less build up than I liked. And number two, since they had spent so much time apart, their relationship wasn’t there throughout the years, which just added a different spin to things. They knew each other from the past but not who they were in the present, so though there was an attraction there all along a lot of it was based on the ideal version of themselves than their true selves. With that being said, I did like it was shown how they grew to get to know each other of who there were as people. So, their relationship steadily built over the course of the book, and I liked seeing those get to know you session. I liked intimacy that they were creating and building throughout the story to show that there was more between them than just a raging hot physical attraction. There was something there that could be built on. I really seeing all the little moments between them. The staple, and defiantly the highlight of the book, were the love scenes. They were so delicious hot, and there were just so many of them. Oh, my goodness. It got the pulse racing for sure in all the different ways that the love scenes came about. Just different locations added to the excitement as well. I may have blushed a time or two, but I loved it. That was definitely more the focus than the romance/plot per say, and it was so good. They had some good chemistry. I also liked how the love scenes were approached especially in the beginning due to the fact that Lucy wasn’t as sexually confidant due to her ex’s scathing comments. I liked how Gideon kind of eased them into a more intimate relationship, and there were some of the most beautiful moments between them. I really appreciated that.As for them as a couple, I liked them together, but at same time something was missing too. I think it was the emotional intensity that was missing between them. They had sexual intensity up the woozo, but just something wasn’t hitting for me. I think there were a lot of moments with untapped potential there between them. Just something with their connection didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I wasn’t rooting for them, nor was I against them. I was kind neutral to them as a couple. Again their relationship just didn’t give me all the feels like I was expecting it to.This I would consider more on the erotica side of the story, which was what I thought the Dare line more would be, but was surprised to find they had emotional love story, and I think if I would have read this one first then I think I would have had a different reaction to this story, but because I got those major feels from the others in the Dare line that sometimes touched me and sometimes broke me, then that was what I was expecting from this one. And I just didn’t get that here not that it was a bad story, I just wanted to feel more of the emotional story too that would have balanced out the bedroom activities. Not that I didn’t enjoy those activities between them because I did they were really hot and steamy. They really were the selling point of this book. I just needed more than what I was getting. I needed a bit more magic.

When Lucy needs a husband to get a promotion at her law firm, she calls in a favor from a former friend Gideon.Gideon was once a good friend of Lucy and best friend of her former fiancée, and did I mention an individual who broke the news to Lucy about her fiancée’s infidelity, who now lives in self guilt of not telling her sooner. It took him a month to come clean to Lucy about her cheating fiancée, to make it worse all their friends knew about it. But also he has been madly in love with Lucy since the moment he saw her at university bar. So now that she calls in a favor that he can’t say no to, it also gives him a second chance in proving that she can trust him. He is a top headhunter and only person Lucy can trust with this task. This is also the first time a client has asked of such thing, it will be a challenge but he will do everything to make sure Lucy is happy, even if it is to find her a husband.Lucy might be successful in her work, gorgeous and smart, but her ex-fiancée has done a number on her, making her question her appeal and worth as a woman, which is why she asks for another thing of Gideon; to teach her all things sexual. Gideon reluctantly agreed with this, with one condition; he gets Lucy exclusively for the duration of the period while she finds a husband. But quickly the rules are being broken down when the passion between these two start to grow and open feelings that Gideon has been hiding for years.“Make me want” was a wonderful read; I managed to read it in one sitting while on the train, which was just under 3 hour journey  . I don’t usually read books like this, but when I saw it on NetGalley it sounded exciting, so I had to give it a try. The reason why I didn’t give a higher rating was because I was expecting more sexual scenes instead of reading how their feeling about each other, but that is purely my own opinion.I loved the characters chemistry; it was fun to read their development and seeing Lucy realize her feelings towards Gideon. There was never really a moment where I wanted to skip pages/chapters because it was boring; it was quick and easy pace. I was always rooting for these characters and loved their interaction with other people. Both Lucy and Gideon had rules about being completely honest with each other, which was I refreshing to read without secrets and lies between the love interests. I feel like it was giving a great example of an adult relationship and their goals. I also enjoyed reading this without reading sentences like “he thrusted his member into her” or other over emphasized words to describe a body parts. The thing that surprised me was how every time before they had sex, Gideon put a condom on, it usually never gets mentioned (or maybe I just don’t read enough smutty books), but it was great to read that to show safe sex between a couple, instead of them just jumping each other bones not thinking or mentioning being safe. But of course there’s nothing sexy about condoms, but it is sexy to be safe. High five to you Katee! I was given a chance to review this ARC by Netgalley and my opinions are entirely my own.

A flirty and sexy read 4 starsThis is the second book I’ve read in Mills & Boon’s new Dare line and it’s exactly what I was hoping and expecting from books that are billed as sexy, passionate and bold.Make Me Want is the story of Lucy - a kick ass New York lawyer who needs a husband to convince her bosses that she’s partner material. And while she rocks her professional life, a douche of an ex has left her feeling a little bit unsure about her skills in the romance department. That’s where Gideon comes in. A former friend of her crappy ex, Gideon is a head-hunter - perfect for finding her a husband. And equally perfect for teaching her how to bring out the sex kitten in her and teach her a few new things. Ah but the best laid plans…Lucy was the perfect heroine. She was feisty and smart in her chosen career but had been hurt by her ex and had lingering issues due to his treatment of her. At times I was frustrated with Lucy because of the way she let Jeff’s treatment affect her even 5 years later. Having said that, it was very honest and exactly the way that any normal person would think and act. Yes, it was frustrating but also quite refreshing at the same time. And of course I loved Gideon. You just have to. He thinks he’s in control and can help Lucy with her ‘problems’ without losing the heart that he probably lost to her years before. Silly man. He was slightly arrogant, big, brash and in control - except when it came to Lucy. As I said - loved him.The pair had banter and sparked off each other. I loved their interactions both sexually and otherwise. Speaking of sex, it was fun, exciting and didn’t eclipse the plot of the book - which is ultimately the love story of Lucy and Gideon.I loved the writing style of the book, too. It kept the pages turning, making this a quick read. The only reason I didn’t give this book the full five stars is because I was a little bit baffled by the conflict at the end. Gideon left Lucy because he thought it was for the best - but I couldn’t figure out why he thought that. And then he did a quick 180˚ and I was a bit confused by that, too! It wasn’t a problem, it was resolved perfectly in the end I was just a tiny bit confused. Oh and epilogues - pretty please give me an epilogue! As I said, this was exactly the kind of book, story and characters that I was hoping for when I heard Mills & Boon were bringing out a new line. I loved the previous M&B Blaze line and this is the kind of book that reminds me of that line but amps up the sex just a touch. It’s fresh, fun, flirty and dirty - and I honestly cared about the characters and wanted to see them happy. The writing is excellent and the sex, while enjoyable, is not there instead of a storyline. All in all, if you’re looking for a sexy romance - I would recommend this one to you. I’ve already got other Katee Robert books on my wishlist and if she writes another Dare, I’ll be sure to snap that one up, too.

Now, she's in a position to make partner, but her personal life needs a bit of a lift. So she hires headhunter Gideon Novak, professionally, to find her a husband, and personally to help her gain her confidence back in the bedroom. Gideon has had a thing for Lucy since she dated, and almost married, one of his best friends. After that relationship ended as usually happens during break-ups, so did the friendship between Gideon and Lucy. The last thing he ever expected after a two year silence is to have Lucy asking him to find her a husband ASAP. But what throws him even more is the request to teach her some skills in the bedroom. Will he be able to keep his personal and professional feelings for Lucy separate? When it becomes very clear that his old feeling for Lucy haven't gone anywhere, Gideon will have to speak up this time, or watch Lucy marry someone else. Katee Robert certainly packs a lot of heat into a relatively short read. The sex between Lucy and Gideon, that connection they have, is so hot. It conveys a world feelings. I thought that Katee Robert did a great job of balancing the fact that these are two people who started out at friends (even though Gideon has had feelings for Lucy all along) and then had a lengthy separation, pick back up and add a deepening layer to their former relationship status. Katee Robert also does a great job in showing what harsh words from those we are close to can do to us mentally and emotionally, and the fact that sometimes those scars aren't easy to fade. It's clear in the way Lucy, at first, hesitates when it comes to being intimate. What didn't work so well for me was the fact that Gideon was tasked with both finding her a husband - like a business transaction, using his headhunter profession aka playing the "matchmaker" - and acting as her "friends-with-benefits" in helping her gain back her confidence in the bedroom. It was just too much. Instead, it unfortunately came across for me a little more preposterous. The conflict Gideon faces could have just as easily been conveyed using one trope or the other. For me, utilizing both was not necessary to the connection between Gideon and Lucy. Besides that, I really enjoyed the book. It's a quick read and, as mentioned above, full of quite the steaminess. There's already a couple of characters I can see taking up the mantle in the next book(s). I'll definitely be checking back and seeing where things go. *ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

“The position I need filled is a husband.”Lawyer Lucy Baudin has a favour to ask Gideon Novak - find a suitable candidate for her potential husband...and some lessons on how to be a better lover.Having been hurt by her ex-fiancee (and good friend of Gideon’s), Lucy is naturally wary of making a commitment, and apparently Gideon’s ‘tuition’ will be beneficial for the lucky candidate. Whilst Lucy believes this can be a no strings attached arrangement, Gideon has been somewhat in love with Lucy for “The position I need filled is a husband.”Lawyer Lucy Baudin has a favour to ask Gideon Novak - find a suitable candidate for her potential husband...and some lessons on how to be a better lover.Having been hurt by her ex-fiancee (and good friend of Gideon’s), Lucy is naturally wary of making a commitment, and apparently Gideon’s ‘tuition’ will be beneficial for the lucky candidate. Whilst Lucy believes this can be a no strings attached arrangement, Gideon has been somewhat in love with Lucy for years, and, naturally, their sleeping together makes him realise that the idea of Lucy ending up with any other man is somewhat unpalatable to him. As far as Lucy is concerned though, she might be attracted to Gideon (and the sex may be amazing for her), but he is a man who doesn’t do commitment, so there is no future.Katee Robert has created two well written lead characters who have a history, a believable mutual attraction to each other, and undeniable chemistry. Their coming together is in no way forced, and Gideon and Lucy make an excellent couple who spark off each other, and, underneath the bravado, genuinely care for each other to the point where, when the lines become blurred, they both worry for their friendship. As this is the Dare series, the sex scenes are rather explicit, and it turns out that Lucy knows what she wants without any tuition from Gideon in that department. Indeed the sparks fly between the two regularly as Gideon struggles to stay on track with Lucy’s request to find her a husband; his 'pick me' speech (where he can't quite bring himself to say I love you) is actually a poignant moment, and it makes the reader realise just how deep his feelings for Lucy actually go. Essentially, you realise that Gideon is somewhat vulnerable when it comes to his relationship with Lucy, and, luckily the author has created an idea partner for him in Lucy, who has loved and been hurt, but needs to realise that the man of her dreams is closer than she thinks. The strong writing makes the story enjoyable, and you genuinely want Gideon to come to his senses and realise he’s being a martyr to the cause by letting Lucy walk away because he thinks that is what she wants. For a story largely centred on two people, the secondary characters also shine in their brief appearances - Lucy’s sister, Becka, is wonderfully feisty and probably needs her own book, such is the impression she leaves on the reader after she confronts Gideon about his intentions. The scene is a brilliant piece of writing in itself.Easy going, strongly crafted and likeable, this is the first of book by Katee Robert I have read, and, based on this, I look forward to reading more in the future. Thanks to M&B for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
