Shadowlands
"This.. this is what's left of that beautiful girl that stole my blackened heart when I first laid eyes on her."TATE: "She is the epitome of the word enemy. Don't let her good looks fool you. She is the daughter of the man that ruined us years ago. She is the heir to our fortune.""Do you want her dead? Is that what you're playing at?" I ask."No. Not right away. I want whatever information she has first. Scare her. Play your little games. Make her give us what we want first. Then kill her."FAWN: Have you ever been alone for so long that you start to doubt your own sanity? The things that run through your head haunt you? The darkness becomes a blanket that you want to wrap yourself in and never come out?

That old tale is the first thing Fawn Russel hears when she moves to a new town upon the death of her parents in a tragic accident, and she moves into her uncle's house. The crowd in her college is very much the same as everywhere else and she just wants to be left alone. BUT she can't escape the dark and mysteriously dangerous foursome: Tate, Maddox, Nixon and Zander. in fact she's not even aware that she's being taunted herself. She's lurred in. And her life is about to change in full speed...She feels this strange connection to Tate and he's the one who's in control of the group. He's the one who sets the motion in action and he's the one with the task.He needs to lure her in. Cause she's the collateral damage. She needs to pay for her father's sins. And she has no fuckin idea about any of it.Tate is holding off the execution of the task cause he recognized the "connection" between them and he can't just hand her over BUT the circumstances play out differently and she's snatched and taken away from their grasp. "Where am I?"Welcome to Shadowlands A place of horrors, a place of torment and execution of all the collaterals that have to pay for the crimes of their families that in some way crossed paths with this cruel sect of merciless, ruthless, evil people that run this organization and kill, torture, for the pleasure of it.And suddenly Fawn is faced with the Shadows, the very group that lurred her in, the only group she had known since she came into the town...and the bertayal stung, no matter how short the amount of time she had to get to know them...the fact is, she shouldn't have trusted them, she should have known better...BUT the only thing she can do to survive it to endure it.And she will go the distance, finding the inner darknes to fight the darkness around her. She would beat them with their own game...and the roles would change, as she becomes a Shadow herself, from a victim to a tormentor. I've seen the way she's changed. She's darker-deadly but she also embraces that connection with Tate, and re-kindles it inspite all the odds and she falls even deeper... Our two halves melted together in pure dark perfection. as she finds a way to play another game - a game of revenge. She will again find the way towards trust and fulfillment in her relationship with Tate, She holds me in her darkness, but together we form a light. while she's facing her past along the way, only to be slapped by the secrets kept from her...but she takes it all and deals in the most brutal and final of ways!this was my first book written by Erin Trejo and it had all the DARK elements I like - the tension and suspenseful dread from the descriptory torment, towards the action, passion, sexual tease that include a dark-minded dangerous heroine and delectable/devious alphas...and I liked it!even though, the "connection" between Tate and Fawn was visible, I wished it were more emotionally palpable from the beginning or even just trancendently intertwined from the first part of the story into the second part, I won't even mention the (view spoiler)[no condom slippery when wet action the very first time *sigh* damn, I think I m way over sayin that shit LOL (hide spoiler)]. And the epilogue could have been more descriptive and informative with more detailed insight into their farther future, or simply, I just wanted a little bit more. ;)

I'm so happy to see this author has more books I can hopefully get lost into.

Unbeknown to her she is exactly where she needs to be, as she is part of a game that has spanned time, in an endless battle for power, control and wealth. Meeting the four mysterious men at college fuels her desire for the truth but once revealed it's uglier than she could ever imagine. Can Fawn find her place on the board and learn the rules fast enough to win? Honestly this story is dark, it's shrouded in mystery with an air of confusion that keeps the reader on the edge of your seat. I went in blind so was unsure whether it was gong into a paranormal genre but instead I got story filled with family legacy that involves torture, blood and death. Each character has their part to play and I was staggered by the twists and turns. I would have liked a little more about the origins of the Shadowlands, how it evolved and what happened next..but overall I was left reeling by the plot and the shadows that it explored. An excellent gripping read that I thoroughly enjoyed. A four star blood stained read. ~*~ Reviewed on behalf of Obsessed by Books ~*~

Let me start off with, what a book!! from the first word to the last I was sucked in and wanting more. This is the dark book that I have been looking for! The emotions that Erin made me feel for Fawn throughout this book were insane. So much happens to the young woman, it is up to her whether she lets it break her, or makes her stronger. I fell in love with the men in this book as well. All of them are sexy as sin! This is by far one of the best dark books that I have read in a long while.Review Let me start off with, what a book!! from the first word to the last I was sucked in and wanting more. Wow! This is a dark, dark story. What if all you know is not true? What if the life you were leading is just a facade? What will you do when the darkness overtakes you and you become the very thing that scared you? This is a psychological mindf^*k to say the least. It is an intense story with so many twists and turns. If you fancy a dark story this one is for you.

Shadowlands took my breath away! It was dark and twisted, but I was sucked into the story. Fawn was a little adrift, being sent to live with her uncle and cousins and starting over at a new college. It started with Fawn being drawn into Maddox's world, but Tate always remained nearby, not saying much but clearly there was something sinister at play. There were so many twists, my mind was going to all kinds of shadowy corners trying to figure out just what was happening. It's riveting, but pay cl Shadowlands took my breath away! Jessica's Review This is the first book I read by this author and enjoyed it a lot. It was dark but at the same time addictive and you couldn't look away. There's not a whole lot I can say about the characters. While they were both so different at the start, as the book goes on we see that they are not alike then even they thought. Fawn had this attitude that I loved and she didn't back down, even when she seemed broken. Tate is yummy! Fawn had this attitude that I loved and she didn't back down, even when she seemed broken. Tate is yummy! I really enjoyed him and even though he was a jerk, he was still a prince..... a dark prince, but a prince none the less. This is fast paced. There's a lot that happens but we get pretty much everything resolved. It's dark and disturbing, but it's a love story. The setting of the shadowlands was awesome! I enjoyed it and while bad things happened there I was drawn to that place and not wanting it to end. The main thing I didn't like was how fast paced it was. Yes it was awesome that there wasn't a whole lot of unnecessary filler, but at the same time I felt there were some things that could've really been elaborated on. To me personally I felt that I wanted a few things more elaborated on in more depth detail. Overall I really did enjoy it. I'm a huge fan of fast paced books and lots of dialogue and this book delivers. It's dark and gritty so if your not into that, then don't read this book, it's not your typical love story, but the love in the end was beautiful. 4 stars #2OCCJD Ashlee's ReviewThis story confused me til about 20% in. I knew Fawn was the main herione but I was introduced to 4 different guys in the span of 10 pages Zander who is her quazi cousin, Maddox the Abercrombie looking model and big bad brooding Tate and Nix. Poor Fawn has it tough we find put her parents just died and shes uprooted from everything she knows and sent to live with her Uncle Vic, Zander and Nelly her cousins. Shes inrolled in the local college and basically just very depressed and closed off to everything around her. Shes a bit of a spitfire though and she seems to enjoy the unknown which is going to be her downfall. We find out that Tate is the antihero in this, ill be honest for almost half this story I couldn't stand Tate. Hes cruel, cold, brooding and completely closed off. You don't really know who he is in this book the hero or villain. But I grow to love him and understand not only him but Nix, Zander, and Maddox and even begin to sympathize with them. The plot is very hard to discribe because if I say to much the story is ruined. But ill say their is a legend about the four shadows who hide in the woods and take unsuspecting girls to never be seen again and Fawn is on their radar. This story takes a turn for the VERY dark about 45% in so if you have trigger warnings like rape, torture or murder you may want to steer clear of this one. This story then takes some interesting turns with Fawn becoming pretty dark herself and getting excited by the darkest place shes ever been. Entering the shadowlands on her own merit to quench her new sick darkness. Her and Tate become this gruesome awesome sick pair who aren't whole without the darkness of the Shadowlands but who is friend and who is foe? The twists are insane who's lying? Who's telling the truth? What are the Shadow lands? This story keeps you guessing and when you think you have a idea it throws you right off guard! I give this story 4 stars a bit of a confusing start and a bit slow but I understand why but when the story kicks in whew I couldn't stop I needed to know everything! I truly fell in love with Tate boy is he a sick puppy but he will do anything for Fawn. And Fawn she gets dark, I loved seeing her like that I don't see many heriones who become the villain then bounce between hero and villain through the second part of the story.

I really liked this author's writing style, but really didn't understand the story at all. I was not able to connect with any of the characters and didn't feel like any one of them were likable at all. The story follows Fawn as she moves in with her uncle and his kids following the death of her parents in a car crash. However, I can definitely tell you that the story is full of drama, sometimes not very well explained and which keeps on coming, angst and just weirdness all around. It really kept me glued to find out how it was going to end. But I really didn't think the epilogue matched the rest of the story and it left me with a feeling of wtf (as did the rest of the story). I was happy to be done with it, and a little scared of the condition of my mental health when I was finally done with it.All in all, the book is definitely worth reading if you are of fan of this author's stories. With this being my first book by her, I am a little scared of diving into her other ones due to the craziness in this one.***I received and ARC in exchange for an honest review***

How is that Love? I recommend the book for the sexiness and the madness. Would make an interesting psych case study. Nicely done Erin.

Erin has to be my favourite dark genre author. She knows how to suck you into a book and keep you there until the end and this story is no different. Shadowlands is a dark and twisted story of Fawn and Tate but we are also introduced to Maddox, Nix and Zander. Even though Tate is an anti-hero it's hard not to fall in love with him. The story is fast paced but full of mystery and suspense. If and when you delve into this amazing read remember nothing is ever as it seems.

Deliciously dark and twisted, Fawn just made my list of one of my most favorite female characters of all time!! The characters are deviously layered to the point where you don't know which way is up, who is on what side, and just how it will all end up. I inhaled this book and didn't look up until it was done!! Sucked right in by the suspense, heart-pounding build up, and the end you won't see coming!I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!~~~Erika, Book Haven Book Blog
