Shout out to this book and GMM in general for getting me through some of the toughest moments in my life. The past 2 weeks have been awful but being able to lose myself in this book and the show has helped so much!! Will have a full review up once I have more free time and things in my life have calmed down and sorted themselves out. Thank you Hachette Australia for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Rhett and Link are two of the funniest guys you've probably never heard of. They host the daily YouTube show Good Mythical Morning, the podcast Ear Biscuits, have appeared on Jimmy Fallon, and created the viral "NOPE! Chuck Testa!" local taxidermy commercial.Amidst all the hijinx, there's also a very powerful tale of staying true to yourself, and a heartwarming story of two guys who have been attached at the hip since grade school making it against all odds. The Book of Mythicality is a cross bet Rhett and Link are two of the funniest guys you've probably never heard of. You have to like them as much as they seem to like themselves in order to like this book. I’m glad they find themselves to be hilarious. Good for them

Loved it just like I love GMM. And I laughed really hard...unsurprisingly. Also, bacon will bookmark when it comes in bookmark form.

I went back and forth as to whether or not I should write a review about this book. I bought it myself, so there wasn't any pressure from publisher, etc. but I have a hard enough time reviewing non-fiction, let alone non-fiction I read by choice, for my own enjoyment. But I decided to write a review about this book, less in a critical sense, and more in an "I read this book for fun" sense, if that makes any sense. If you are not familiar with Rhett and Link, you need to remedy that immediately. But I decided to write a review about this book, less in a critical sense, and more in an "I read this book for fun" sense, if that makes any sense. If you are not familiar with Rhett and Link, you need to remedy that immediately. They are most notably known for their daily YouTube show Good Mythical Morning and are iconic for remaining best friends since elementary school. While I have been a fan and fairly religious watcher of their show for about 3 years now, I will admit, I was skeptical about this book. Really, what else was there that I needed, or wanted, to know about these two that they hadn't already talked about on the show. As it turned out, there was a lot I didn't know I wanted to know. The book recounts the story of how their friendship developed, the shenanigans they were a part of growing up, college, meeting their respective wives, how GMM came to be. While these topics may seem benign and ordinary, Rhett and Link tell them in extraordinary ways. Through text, comics, graphics, quizzes, games, photos and guest-written appearances, Rhett and Link share not only their life story but ways to be more Mythical in your life.I was shocked at how well the voices of each of the narrators came through. They use a collective narration for a large portion of the book, but there are sections where Rhett and Link are talking individually. Despite the helpful tabs to show who is who, I was able to hear their voices shine through. It was as though they were narrating the book for me.Now, I mentioned at the beginning that this wasn't going to be a critique, so excuse me if it seems like I'm rambling on about how good this book is. But like their show, Rhett and Link have somehow captured the positivity and connectivity that they exude on the show and have put it in this book. I found myself laughing along with their antics, smiling with their heartfelt recollections of falling in love with their wives, and experiencing a bittersweet goodbye when the book came to an end. This may all sound cheesy but frankly, I don't care. In a world so full of negativity, it was nice to sit down and enjoy a little bit of light-hearted fun, and I think that is what makes them and the show so popular.Overall, I do believe that whether you are a dedicated fan or if you are someone who has just stumbled upon this book, you will truly enjoy the stories Rhett and Link tell and will find yourself trying to make your life a little bit more mythical.

Coming from a fan of Rhett and Link, I thought this book was really interesting and fun. The best part of the book in my opinion was the chapter about their wives. The pictures and stories were incredibly cute and I don't think they've ever delved into how they met their wives- so that was nice. Aside from that, it was simply written and probably wouldn't please non-fans. I don't think many non-fans would really be interested in this book anyways. I thought of it as looking through a family memb Coming from a fan of Rhett and Link, I thought this book was really interesting and fun. It has some touching advice in general, and you can tell they put their hearts and souls into it. Even if you aren't a fan, read it! It's got lots of cute stories, pictures and activities.

Full disclosure: I originally wasn’t going to buy this book. Yes, I enjoy Rhett & Link, and yes, I watch nearly every episode of GMM every morning with a cup of coffee and my breakfast (or at least when I get home from work on the days I have to go in early), but the book never really struck me as something I had to read. And yet, after the last couple of months of a steady diet of Star Wars novels and comics, horror, and other fictional genres, I felt it was time to go the non-fiction route, and since this was actually sold at my local Target (and I didn’t have to sit around waiting for Amazon), I figured it was worth a shot and, at the very least, something different I could add to my already record breaking 2017 list.I’m glad I went with my idea because the Book of Mythicality ended up being yet another one of those rare (well, maybe not so rare in 2017, since there’s been a lot) surprise books that comes out of nowhere and hits you over the head with its greatness. One part autobiography, one part “how to” guide, the Book of Mythicality made me laugh, made me smile, made me want to try to live life to its fullest through the advice of 2 of YouTube’s (and probably the whole internet’s) stars through a variety of means. Should I get a dog? That’s answered. Should I host a party? Only if it’s a “mythical” party of greatness. Should I go eat something disgusting? If I psyche myself up and realize it’ll make me a more interesting and all around cool person. And of course, it’s always recommended to take time out for myself. The book did get a bit weird and childish at times (that whole chapter on the future, especially) but in the overall scheme of things, the book was incredibly enjoyable and I don’t regret a single moment I spent reading this. Easily one of the more enjoyable books to come out this year and I easily recommend this for practically anyone who wants to laugh and still try to better themselves by not taking rings too seriously.

I loved this. It was a story of friendship, being friends, and staying friends. It's an interesting take on how to live life. For people that watch the show on YouTube, there are some stories that have already been told (Link's broken pelvis) but I didn't care that it was included again, I still find that one of the funniest stories I have ever heard (not just from Rhett and Link but of all the comedies I have listened to and watched). I hope their friendship is forever... I have sort of emotionally invested in it at this point and I would feel sadness if it weren't... And that's why this book gets five stars from me. They are likeable and relatable... And funny. I saw a three star rating when I was scrolling through and I thought... How could that be?! But to each their own. I loved it and I would recommend it to just about everyone I know... More highly to those that laugh easily and heartily, no scratch that... Even to those that don't... Because this is really about learning to laugh and have experiences. I know we have experiences every day, but how many do we actually have... Or experience on autopilot? Rhett and Link experience life and this book is about that

It's definitely more what the title suggests: a field guide to mythicality, and is better suited for somebody with only a cursory familiarity with GMM. I'm a big fan of the show, a loyal Beast, all that, I think I just went into this with the wrong expectations. Get the physical book (or the audiobook maybe, but not the eBook), and understand what you're getting, and you'll enjoy this more than I did.

The celebrity memoir is my guilty pleasure genre. And I've been a fan of Rhett and Link for quite a few years now. Their silly, zany humor just cracks me up sometimes. I liked the book, and some of the stories in it were pretty great, but I didn't love it as much as I expected to. It dragged on a little too long, for my tastes. And, as is quite frequently the case in this genre, it was pretty dang self-indulgent. I'm probably a solid 3.5 on this. I'm not a big fan of Good Mythical Morning. I've seen maybe two or three of their videos- enough to recognize them and feel like I had a pretty good idea what I might be getting into with this audiobook. That said, it's an enjoyable listen if you're interested in a sort of general introduction to who these guys are. Sorry Rhett and Link, but as much as I like your content this book was a fail to me. I found it mostly stupid instead of funny. I listened to the audio book and most of the time I was bored. It felt really artificial like you were looking for stuff to create more content instead of doing some really awesome avant garde. I think real life Rhett and Link come across much better. Book format made your humor come across as very juvenile. I smiled very little as I listened.

As a longtime fan of Rhett and Link I may be biased in saying this, so you might want to get to know these YouTubers before diving into the book to really appreciate the humor... but I felt like this book wasn’t just a book of their life stories or just a humor focused book, but both entwined along with a message to impart to their readers: to be your mythical best.
