Spark in the Ashes is my first journey into the world of Nikki Groom, and I never wanted to leave! I'm going to try and break it down as simply as I can before I move on to all of my dramatic girly girl emotions. Sadie Foster is filled with the desire for revenge every waking hour of the day, so she's now putting it into action, one evil douche at a time. One night as she's taking care of business, she comes face to face with Ramsey Dalton, and her world is never the same. Ramsey is the VP of the Steel Souls MC, and is only interesting in keeping his brothers safe, no matter what it takes. But the night he meets Sadie, his world is shaken up in ways he never thought possible. That's the best that I could do without giving things away, but know this, there is SO MUCH MORE to this story! First of all, I couldn't have loved Sadie more if I tried, as she was so feisty, and bad a**! The things she did to drive Ramsey crazy had me rolling in laughter like a crazy person. Ramsey is a mouthwatering HOT alpha, and together they SIZZLED in panty destroying sexy scene goodness. Nikki Groom had such a talented writing style that I was instantly all in. Her diabolical twists and turns kept me guessing, had my heart pounding, and so many loud f-bombs dropped, that I'm sure I scandalized my neighbors. Now that ending, well, it put Nikki Groom on the list of authors trying to KILL ME, so I must hash tag her forevermore, #EVILWHORE! With all of that being said, I CANNOT WAIT for book 2 to come out, and I may or may not stalk her on social media while I wait! Bottom line to all of this new fan girl gushing is that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Favorite Quotes:The camaraderie and tight-knit feel of the Steel Souls brothers and their wives is intense. It’s unapologetic, violent at times, and pretty damn explosive, but it feels like a raucous version of The Waltons… Bound by soul not blood, and in some respects, it’s a more honest connection. There’s nothing to say what’s happened here, or who did this, but it’s hanging in the air, like a bad smell that no one wants to admit to.My Review: Favorite Quotes:The camaraderie and tight-knit feel of the Steel Souls brothers and their wives is intense. This was not a sweet alpha teddy bear MC, no, no, no! This group of misfits consisted of dangerous outlaws who like to toy and torture their victims before they finally kill. So I found it to be extremely moronic of the feisty bratty female character to continuously push their limits, pick fights, stamp her little foot, toss insults and demands as freely as her luscious head of hair, and generally kept up an extremely dangerous game of mean girl for no particular reason. Yet I remained intrigued and despite frequently cringing at the brutality, I could not seem to put my kindle down until the worst thing of all happened. After a shattering revelation, the book ended in a vile cliffhanger, GRRR! Those demonic contrivances should be illegal.

Spark in the Ashes by Nikki Groom a sublime five-star read. This is the first book in the Steel Souls series, and wow what a first book, If I am honest I was getting a little done with the whole MC genre, this book has ignited a spark, that will not be put out. It brought a different side to the bikers, and it is a refreshing and honest view point, not the typical overused version we see most often. Ramsey Dalton is the vice president of the Steel Souls motor cycle club, he’s hard in all the right places and would do anything for his brothers, and has been known to skid the lines of the law to keep those he sees as his safe, and get what he deserves. When he sees someone murdered whom he was about to get something from, he takes the murderer to settle the debt, that one decision will change his life in ways he couldn’t imagine.Sadie Foster is a woman with two sides, on the one she is a raven-haired beauty that works as a computer nerd and lives still lives at home at 24. On the other side, she is a revenge seeking banshee that will stop at nothing and doesn’t care who she crossed, when she crosses the wrong person, unexpected consequences ensue. This is just the first part of Ramsey and Sadie’s story, but what a story, don’t expect a HEA just yet, but the story will keep you hooked and the background characters like JJ and Ruck will provide enough intrigue to keep you from putting this down.

Spark in the Ashes is a fantastic initiation for Nikki Groom into the dark and gritty world of MC contemporary romance. This book delivered in droves, as it held many elements that make a good book great including suspense, violence, sex and the best part... likeable (even though a little fucked up) characters. From chapter one this book makes one hell of an opening impact with a young woman who has made a very conscious decision to walk the dangerous path of revenge. Her reasoning becomes very apparent as the story unfolds, and one that kept me riveted until the end.Ramsey is enamoured with the young beauty who carries herself so calmly, whilst holding a gun that just ended a renowned local lowlife, but unfortunately her actions have caused him somewhat of a problem. He was owed a debt, and now it seems it will have to be paid by another - the very female walking away from her new kill.Sadie and Ramsey's first meeting ends in a car wreck and many unanswered questions. But if there is one good thing Ramsey Dalton, Vice President of the Steel Souls MC is good at, and that is getting answers - he just never expected a feisty female with personality traits close to his own. This is no wannabe MC whore like he's used to, Sadie 'Raven' Foster is a whole new ballgame.Sadie is a ticking time bomb, her promise to do the job she set out for doesn't as much come under scrutiny but understanding, making her realise that the life of a bikers old lady could have its merits, and yet she never envisioned that life with Ramsey could prove more dangerous than the life she set out for herself when a rival MC finally shows their hand and will stop at nothing to take the reins and their territory. And oh my goodness what a fucking ride this book was! I can't tell you how many MC books I've read, but I can tell you that this one stood out for many reasons, but none more so than having two strong, brave and undeniably hard-core characters at the helm. There are no shrinking violets here ladies, and for that alone it was absolutely awesome! There is a deeper backstory here that moulds both our characters into what they are today, and yet there were still rules, lines you didn't cross that were admirable. There was no violence for the sake of it which many MC books I've read lately seem to have made a theme. I felt most actions were justified even if one in particular was a little gruesome, it wasn’t overdone - and that ending will have you shouting HOLY HELLS BELLS with that wicked little twist, and no, I didn't see it coming!I can't wait for the sequel. Write like the wind Nikki, I need it now

Wow, this was my first book by Nikki Groom and what an introduction it was. I just had to read this book when I saw this cover, talk about eye catching, this cover is amazing!! The blurb had me sitting in anticipation because whew it sounded like a doozy. One thing that I must say is that there should be a bit of a warning that this book does touch on some sensitive topics. This by no means impacted how I felt about this book, well I did think that Nikki did a great job with it I can say that. Wow, this was my first book by Nikki Groom and what an introduction it was. I loved that about this book. She is impacted by things from her past but she kicks some major butt and she cracks me up with her take no crap attitude. Ramsey is one that you won't be able to help to fall in love with. He is so hooked on Sadie that he lets her get away with a lot more than anyone else would and he loves it. He just wants to find his special someone and he isn't going to let anyone take that from him.Holy crap talk about a cliffy. This book was so, so good. I really, really can't wait for the next and I hope it isn't too long because I am dying!!! I hesitated reading another MC book, although it's my go to genre and by a first time author. Thankfully my blip was momentary because Spark in the Ashes was a complex book filled with flawed characters. Parts were dark and twisted, made you wanting more. Sadie & Ramsey, the main characters and written from their POV's are opposites in many ways but are drawn to each other at the most basic level. Anyhow, I'm really taken aback by Spark in the Ashes, everyone knows I have a penchant for dark DARK romance and well, Nikki Groom has given me a hit of a very addictive and gripping duo here. I loved Sadie, and Ramsey... weeeeeeeell... I loved him too. A lot. Very. Very. Much. Yup. He just has it all; attitude - check, heart - check, sex appeal - CHECK. Totally book boyfriend material, and just like that I'm in love. So Sadie, I know I just skipped over her back there - BUT, it's actually because although I love Ramsey, it's Sadie that made this book for me. She's got so many layers that are slowly pealed away throughout the book that you are constantly double guessing where her character is headed - which isn't helped by the ginormous cliffhanger that has to be the plot equivalent to a serious case of stinking blue balls. This book had me all over my seat, mostly on the edge admittedly, but I just couldn't sit still... it was like all the nervous energy within the plot was coursing through every single limb of mine, non-stop and it just had me gripped to the point that I couldn't even take a toilet break without major withdrawal symptoms kicking in. A lot of this was down to how relatable and empathise-able Sadie and Ramsey are as characters. They are truly what keeps you anchored to the story. Plot wise, this isn't your average MC novel with a dash of angst and sprinkling of punches thrown in. In all honesty it's very much an emotional journey. The plot has some elements that are predictable, however there are also enough twists that you need that familiarity/ predictability to stop the story from going overboard. Groom's plot development is spot on and interwoven with the character development - which I love because it grounds the story. I especially loved that Sadie's character traits reflected what her past had endured. I find that many authors create an ideal character whose traits don't correlate with the scars from their past. Nikki Groom has excelled at creating a window into Sadie's troubled past through her actions and reactions in the present story. Not to mention the chemistry and intensity between the her and Ramsey... yeeba... it's scorching.I have to admit that I was sold on Spark in the Ashes the moment I saw the cover and read the blurb, however the moment I started reading I was completely hooked and way in over my head. I'm still reeling from the cliffhanger and my mind is just firing in all these different direction trying to find my next fix. I just hope that Nikki Groom doesn't take too long to bring out the book #2 in the Steel Souls series.

I have always LOVED this genre, but to be honest it has all got a bit same samey of late, leaving me to avoid reading anything in this genre for a while now. But having loved Against the Tide by Ms Groom, I knew this was a book I would most certainly have to make an allowance for. Let me tell you how glad I am about that.Nikki’s first venture into this popular style is a roaring success as far as I am concerned. Not only is it departure for her in terms of subject and backdrop, thankfully it is also a departure from the rather generic MC stories that every Tom, Dick and Harry seem to be releasing. Straight away I was sucked in by the rather dark and interesting prologue, then I became addicted to the mystery and secrets that you know are waiting just around the corner. It had an almost suspenseful feel about it and I applaud Nikki for being able to get that across in her writing. Both characters have a history and I think they recognise the darkness they both possess in each other. The chemistry between them is electric, but it is the connection and understanding of who they are as people that seems to attract them the most. Sadie isn’t scared to stand up to Ramsey and he totally respects her for that. On the flip side, Sadie isn’t a shrinking violet that he needs to protect and that seems to be a major turn on for Ram. They can be themselves and although that works for them, I’m not sure it works for all.So don’t go in expecting a rush job of a storyline; that is totally not Nikki Groom’s style. Their story continues into book 2, Fire in the Stars. So do expect an amazing ending, one that I personally didn’t see coming; and I totally had my own little conspiracy theories running through my head as I raced to the books conclusion, all of which were not on the money in this book anyway. I hope we get further books as well, there are a few interesting secondary characters that I hope Nikki explores more for us in the future.Another great read from a talented British writer. I highly recommend reading her books of you like a bit of grittiness in your reads. Well done Nikki, and thank-you for restoring my faith in MC romance. I seriously can’t wait for book 2.

She is not easy to control and Ramsey knows there are secrets behind her that she is not ready to share.Soon Ramsey discovers that Sadie is a distraction and causing him to lose focus on the jobs he has at hand. But will he be willing to let her go when necessary? What secrets does Sadie hide from Ramsey and will her own life out her into danger when it's clear she has her own agenda?"In this second I know, he could be my savior... and my downfall."I loved this story from start to finish as it's not exactly a typical MC book. There is definitely the tough biker thing going on but Sadie is not a typical girl in distress. She was so much more right from the beginning and I loved how she never gave up.When we discover Sadie's past we understand why she is hell bent on revenge against men who go after little girls. As a mom I can understand the need to eliminate the world of these scum but I never knew if she would get caught or not. Part of me is still very suspicious over who killed her family and I didn't know if there was a link to her current life and the people in it.Ramsey himself didn't have an easy childhood and he and his brother, Ruckus, were helped by JJ, President of the Steel Souls. Yet there is definitely something off with Ruckus and I'm really curious to see what we learn in the 2nd book in regards to his own problems.Ramsey wanted Sadie right from the beginning and I love how much she fought him and how he loved the challenge that she brought but at the same time only put up with so much. He wanted to protect Sadie but at times that meant he was torn between her and his responsibilities which really came into play a few times. JJ drops quite the bomb at the end of the book and I really need to have book 2 asap!!- Rebecca

This was the first book that I have ever read by Nikki Groom and the one statement that I can say is WOW! As I have been on a bit of an MC romance kick here recently this one was a surprise as it was two strong independent characters are being brought to the table. The flow of the story kept me on the edge of my seat until the very last page and I *SPOILERS* Ha you thought I would tell you! NOT GO READ it yourself you will not be disappointed.Sadie Foster grabbed you by the collar of your shirt from the very first chapter of this book and never let you go. She is on a mission to rid the world of men who think they can get away with assaulting little girls. I loved that this character was so bold and not afraid to take care of herself and to fight back. Sadie is strong, sassy and independent woman. Not the typical girl in distress thank goodness.Enter Ramsey Dalton, Vice President of the Reno Steel Souls MC, a typical alpha male, ruthless who is all about his club, a shoot first doesn't need any questions asked male who just want to make sure things are going right. While Ramsey and his brother did not have the easy childhood the President of the Steel Souls helped them out. (I So hope that we learn more about Ruckus in the next book) Ramsey wants Sadie from the first moment he sees her. But is this a good thing or will it lead to being a huge distraction for him in his duties to the MC?I highly recommend Sparks in the Ashes for any MC romance readers out there. You will love it just make sure you are 18+."In this second I know, he could be my savior... and my downfall."My only warning ... Goodness what a cliffhanger! Which totally comes out of Left field!Mixing in some other rival MCs, romance and revenge and it is a wonderful rainy day read where you can just curl up and finish an entire book! Can't wait for book 2 in this hot new series! 4 HEARTS!

4 Stars! What I loved: From the very first page, this story starts out with a bang. Sadie is pretty ruthless when we first meet her and I am not even going to pretend that I didn't love it. I am always ecstatic to read about strong, brave women and Sadie is definitely that, even if it may get her into trouble. I am a huge fan of action and I loved that this book is full of that. It seems like something is always going on and it was interesting seeing how things were connected in ways that the characters didn't always understand. The author definitely doesn't hold her punches either and do we get the dark gritty and violent life that these characters live. Not just Ram with his biker lifestyle but also Sadie and her past, brutal and sad, that has shaped the person she's become. The writing was very well done. This is my first book by Nikki Groom and I was impressed with how well written it was. I'd definitely read more from her in the future (as long as they aren't cliffhangers). What I Liked: The chemistry between Sadie and Ramsey is really good. It's obvious that they each push each other's buttons in many different ways and they are extremely hot together. However, there were quite a few moments where I was uncomfortable with how rough they were with each other in the beginning. Not to mention the amount of times he calls her a "[email protected]$?#". What I Didn't Like: I do not like cliffhangers, in fact, I hate them! I'm usually the type of person who waits til all books have been out so that I can read them without having to wait for the next to be released in order to get resolution or closure. So the fact that I had no clue that this one was going to end on a cliffy left me angry. Overall, I would definitely recommend Spark in the Ashes, although if you are not a fan of cliffhangers, I'd wait until Book 2 comes out this summer. ***Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie by the author/publisher for my reading pleasure in hopes of an unbiased opinion, a review was not a requirement.***

Not only is she seeking revenge for herself but for she is righting the wrongs of others too. Seen while out taking revenge leads has consequences that Sadie could never have dreamt.Watching this raven haired beauty dole out punishment to someone who deserved it stops Ramsey in his tracks. Determined to know more about her and why she did what she did but mostly just to be near her Ramsey takes Sadie by surprise. He has never let a woman get to him before but he cannot deny the pull and electricity that there is between him and Sadie.By seeking revenge Sadie never thought it would lead to her being embroiled into the world of bikers and their battles but that is exactly what happens as she also cannot deny the intense pull towards the Vice President of the Steel Souls MC, Ramsey.I loved this story from start to finish. There was plenty of action to keep you engrossed wanting to know what happens next and a connection between Sadie and Ramsey that had you cheering them on from the sidelines. They are two jaded and guarded souls that have somehow found their other half and they might be involved in violence and death but you are rooting for them from the start. As I said a brilliant start to a MC series that I cannot wait to read more of. Nikki Groom is definitely up there as one of my favourite authors.

I've got to be honest, when I first started reading this book I wasn't really sure where the book was going... It did take me a while to get into the story and become really attached to the characters. But I've also got to say, by the end I was totally hooked!! In this book we meet Ramsay and Sadie. Ramsey is VP of the Steel Souls MC. When Ramsey stumbles upon Sadie, he wants to know more about her and why she's done what she's done. He wants answers! I liked Ramsey's character straight away. He's a strong, loyal, badass, alpha, mc, who will protect his family and his brothers to the core. But is Sadie going to be a distraction? It took me a while to warm to Sadie - I wasn't sure about her behaviour initially, and was a little surprised about some of the circumstances surrounding her. She seemed a little naive and immature at times, but I did warm to her as the book went on. I did like her strength and determination which seemed to shine more and more as the book went on, getting her into some potentially tricky situations. Plus the way she gave as good as she got to Ramsey was great at times, really adding to the chemistry between the two characters. The book is written in a dual PoV, so we get both of their perspectives and fully experience both of their troubled and traumatic pasts, plus the things that motivate them. As I said earlier, by the second half of the book, I couldn't put it down, and although there were elements of predictability for me with a few few clues scattered throughout the book, and with how the book ended, it didn't take away from the overall enjoyment of the story for me. And I do LOVE a cliffhanger... Bring on book 2!Overall a really great storyline, with plenty of twists, a good amount of action, plenty of chemistry and heat, great banter, and some brilliant suspense. A great first MC book from Nikki Groom, and I can't wait to see that she brings us in the next part of this story.**** 4 Raven Stars ****Lou4TLOReading Blog

Spark in the Ashes By Nikki GroomI love me a good Motorcycle club book! And she is going to pay back the debt that she took away from me by putting a bullet in Donny Carden’s head."Sadie, lost girl looking for revenge, and Ramsey, the VP of the Steel Souls, have overcome horrible things throughout their lives. Even though their stories are different, one thing they have in common is strength. Strength to move forward and strength to forget. But what happens when they enter each other's worlds, and their strength is tested? "I have a neanderthal need to claim her, a primal desire to own her, and perhaps what scares me the most is the compulsion to wipe that pain and fear from her soul, and to make her smile and laugh and mend, just for me."Nikki is a mastermind! I love MC books and Nikki wrote a great one! Each page captivated me and held my attention! I couldn't get enough of each character. Nikki made an effort to make each character important in Spark in the Ashes, which I think made me love this book even more. The suspense and action were gripping, and well, who am I kidding? The sexual chemistry was the highlight! Sadie and Ramsey are the ultimate badass duo!"Every second of the day, for as long as I have breath in my body, I choose to step where I walk, to put a bullet where I aim, and end a life where I see fit."⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Tara

So it took me a while to read this one as I have been busy lately but when I finally got time to sit down and read it I couldn't put it down! This is actually my first book by Nikki Groom. And one thing I always look for in a book is that I love heroes who are fucking bad asses and can stand on their own. Especially the Heroine. The tension between the two is thick and you can cut with a knife it's hot!Sadie is a sassy. bad ass heroine on the path of revenge and Ramsey is the VP of the steel souls MC. From the moment they meet Ramsey is fascinated by Sadie because of what she has done but realizes that it is also a problem. But it seems that doesn't matter as much since He wants her and gets what he wants and doesn't care that she fights him back because it doesn't deter him. From the first chapter you are drawn in and trust me you won't be able to stop. This one has action and twist and turns, drama that have you turning the pages and not putting it down at all. I was on the edge needing to know what was going to happen next. I don't want to give too much away because it will take away from the story and I don't want to spoil it for other readers. But if you are into MC books and bad ass heroes and sassy heroines then one-click this one.I am very picky when it comes to MC books being that I have read a fair share and only like about three authors who have MC series and I will say that I will add this series into that list as a must read and one click! **** ARC provided for an honest review****
