4.5 StarsIf you are a fan of YouTube, you have most likely become familiar with Tanya Burr and her hilarious and informative lifestyle channel. When I was asked by Penguin Random House Canada if I wanted to review this cookbook, I obviously jumped at the chance. This book has the most beautiful images, and it is one that contains some fantastic recipes that even the most inexperienced of chefs can attempt. The book also has lots of personal stories attached to the recipes which make for quite a 4.5 StarsIf you are a fan of YouTube, you have most likely become familiar with Tanya Burr and her hilarious and informative lifestyle channel. When I was asked by Penguin Random House Canada if I wanted to review this cookbook, I obviously jumped at the chance. This book has the most beautiful images, and it is one that contains some fantastic recipes that even the most inexperienced of chefs can attempt. The book also has lots of personal stories attached to the recipes which make for quite a fun and enlightening read. My only criticism of this book would be that for the average North American reader, this book contains British cooking measurements which will require the user to convert measurements if you don’t have the required tools at hand.Tanya Bakes has got to be one of the most gorgeous cookbooks that I have ever seen, and I am quite a fan of the genre. The images are so full of life and the pictures just seem to pop with excitement. It is so enjoyable to flip through a book of recipes and see gorgeous images of how the recipe will look when it is all finished. Definitely my favourite aspect of this book. What is really fun and interesting about Tanya Bakes is the narrative that is included in the book. Tanya shares lots of life stories and inspiration as to why certain recipes are included in the book. This is something that takes this book into the memoir or autobiography genre, as readers learn little tidbits about Tanya’s childhood and present day life.I typically attempt a few recipes from the cookbooks that I am reviewing, as I find that the process is just as important as the layout. The instructions for the recipes are clear and concise. There are tons of different types of desserts and even some wonderful seasonal recipes to try. I did give the Australian Toasted Banana Bread a whirl, as the ingredients were something I had on hand and the result was phenomenal, although I do prefer it untoasted myself. It was a bit time consuming to convert the ingredients, though. There are some great converters online and I did find one site that I found useful for this recipe if you are interested in making something from a cookbook that has different measurements than you are accustomed to.Tanya Bakes is a gorgeous book that is sure to be enjoyed by all of her fans and those who love to bake. I am looking forward to taking a look at Tanya’s newest cookbook as well, as it centres around my favourite time of the year: Christmas!

So many delicious recipes....although I admit...I baked with my mom...I’m lying....I helped her...she did most of the work. Because, I’m a menace in the kitchen! 5 out of 5 stars

When the publisher sent me a copy of this cookbook to review I'll admit that I hadn't heard of Tanya Burr. Apparently, I live under a rock ... or maybe it's because I'm not well-versed on YouTube stars. The cover art is eye-catching, and the photography highlights the beautiful and diverse recipes that will entice readers. Little blurbs are added throughout which give the book a personal feel as Burr chats about her inspirations in the kitchen which help readers get to know a bit about the author herself. Burr has included a variety of options for different tastes and skill levels. Readers will be enticed with delicious dishes like Salted Caramel Cheesecake, Bailey's Tiramisu (I'm in love!), Lemon Drizzle Loaf (my fav!) and unique and tempting Earl Grey Tea Loaf!My only issue is that for North American audiences, who aren't as well versed in the metric system (yes, I'm Canadian but still bake with imperial measurements), figuring out the measurements may be a little time consuming until you get the hang of it.Overall, this is an impressive and beautiful cookbook that has a down-to-earth feel to it as Burr shares her love of food, cooking and sharing well-loved recipes Disclaimer: This ARC was generously provided by the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Unfortunately there are way to many errors in the book and i'm very disappointed in it's content.I will admit that the book is beautiful and the photography is stunning but this is a baking book and not a photography book...........

This cookbook was very well-put together. It is evident that a team of people with a high aesthetic were in charge of selecting fonts, colours, images, etc. etc. etc. It was really a pleasure to read this book, or even just flip through it. The manner in which the recipes in this book are categorized was very helpful because it’s easy to find the type of recipe that you’re looking for, such as pies vs. cookies for example.I am a big fan of cookbooks that are bound with a hardcover binding, becau This cookbook was very well-put together. The manner in which the recipes in this book are categorized was very helpful because it’s easy to find the type of recipe that you’re looking for, such as pies vs. cookies for example.I am a big fan of cookbooks that are bound with a hardcover binding, because let’s be real, cookbooks spend a good amount of their time in kitchens, and kitchens can be very messy places! At least, my kitchen is. I tend to spill ingredients everywhere, especially when I’m in a rush, and a paperback cookbook might not survive in this kind of kitchen very long. Tanya Bakes is strongly bound, and the pages are thick and glossy. I like that the interior was also very pretty, and it was pleasing for me to look at, whether I’m actually looking for a recipe, or just flipping through.Overall, I think that this book is great for fans of Tanya Burr, as well as people who like to bake, or would like to start baking. Even if you don’t bake and just want to look at pretty pictures of cookies, and cakes, and loafs, or you collect cook books, this book is definitely for you!

Now here is a cookbook I can get excited about - only dessert. And delicious looking dessert. With lots of chocolate. My only complaint is the measurements are in grams (yes, I know it's better) rather than cups, which is easier.

I guess i can't really judge a cook book until i try the recepies, but a lot of these were really appetizing and i will definetly try them.one little hiccup is that i'm used to step by step pictures for my recepies, in this book there are only pictures of the final result.
