This book is outrageously adorable! I was literally squealing with cuteness at each new dog illustration. I was so impressed with all the different types of dogs Sirotich included. Then when we see all these dogs find homes I found myself wanting to get up and go to the shelter to get myself a third dog. This is a must-read for dog lovers of all ages!

Found Dogs is just a perfect read-aloud for the little animal loving kids. And isn't that most kids? Erica Sirotich paints a diverse world of animals and people as we count up to 10 and then back down again. I love that each group of dogs finds it's just right group. It's not just a strong counting book, the story will charm adults and children alike. And a great message about looking at shelters for our furry companions.

In Found Dogs young children will learn how to identify numbers and count to ten, forward and backward, as friendly dogs of all shapes and sizes are adopted from the city shelter. This is a fun homage to dogs and their important place in our communities as well. My favorite spread is the final city scene where the reader can see all the dogs and their new families happily looking out of the windows of apartments, houses and even the fire station. A tail-waggingly delightful book!

This is a cute counting book about dogs that are in a shelter and then get adopted. It includes some good vocabulary and concepts to discuss. For example the 2 dogs are silver and slow. You can talk about the fact that their hair is silver because they are aging and that one of the dogs has his leg bandaged making him slower than usual.
