See, I have very mixed feelings about this because it was a phenomenal standalone book (literally one of my favorites). It ended not needing a second book... but then again, I would love to dive back into this world and revisit all my friends and see what adventures are awaiting! Usually, books that are standalones, make a lot of money, and then decide they want more money and so they make a second one... flop. So I’m hoping that’s not the case and Cline just really has a great second story to t See, I have very mixed feelings about this because it was a phenomenal standalone book (literally one of my favorites). Last year I LOVED Armada, although I'm not big Sci-Fi fan..Now I'm currently reading Ready Player one, and although I'm not a gamer.. almost 1%XP..BUT I LOVE IT SO MUCH...I really feel LOVE to be in OASIS as much as Hogwarts.. which anyone knows me must sure what's that means..I adore his geeky references and fun trivia and facts of everything..He's Dan Brown of the Sci-Fi and Games of the golden age to me :)..Can't wait for any bits of information about this new release

“The fun of the sequel for me would be exploring other facets of pop culture that I love and not just using the same ones over again,” said Cline. “That’s one of the reasons that I'm drawn to write more stories in this world. It was a lot of work creating the Oasis and the rules of the Oasis, but the Oasis was kind of the ultimate video game, and the ultimate entertainment platform, and that's a very fun landscape in which to tell stories." -Ernest Cline in an interview with Den of GeekCline als “The fun of the sequel for me would be exploring other facets of pop culture that I love and not just using the same ones over again,” said Cline. “That’s one of the reasons that I'm drawn to write more stories in this world. I would not be surprised if we got an announcement about the publishing date somewhere around the release of the Blu-Ray.

I'm all for getting wrapped up in a good book series however I don't know if it's just me, but it seems that the standalone book is becoming a rare gem. Ready Player One had a complete and satisfying ending. I have been recommending that book to family and friends as one of my "go-to" standalones for sci-fi. I'm still active with my toons on WoW [undead shadow priest alllll day], and love the lore and questing for each class. So yeah, chances are very, very high that I'll read this sequel no matter what because I completely got sucked into Wade's adventure as he weaved his way through each puzzle. The Verge reports [12/10/17] that during a Facebook livestream, the author said the following about writing a sequel: “It’s true. I can’t talk about it too much, but there’s no better inspiration for a writer to return to a world they’ve already worked on when they’re watching Steven Spielberg bring that world to life.”Linky: https://www.theverge.com/2017/12/10/1...

I'm not sure how I feel about a sequel. I really loved Ready Player One a lot but I feel like the story had a good end. I'm excited to see more of the world and the characters but I'm a bit concerned the motivation for writing a sequel isn't what it should be.
