I feel like this whole volume could fit in one chapter. The plot is moving really slow. And art style can be so confusing. At some parts I didn't know what the heck was happening. I will read next volume, but if it stays like this, I don't think I'll be continuing on with the series.

Well the good news is this was better than volume 1. The bad news? It's still rough. This volume focuses on the escape of our main hero. He's the titan boy we've all come to love and know. He's just a normal dude going face to face with a titan. What I liked: The pacing is far quicker and better IMO. I liked the idea of showing out the units got together again to make the guards. It's their pre-badass stage when they get their equipment so basically just a bunch of sitting ducks. Also was cool to see that even the main character can get hurt pretty bad. The bad: Well, it's got some really rough art that I can't tell what in the fuck is happening! I also think the leads are pretty boring. One just kind of there, the girl kind of there, no one doing much. Also the mentality behind the main lead is dumb. So yeah, it's more entertaining than the last but I'm still going 2.5/5 and hitting it with a 2/5 because I KNOW it can be better and that's the worst part of it. So come on Before the Fall! I'll give you 2 more volumes to prove your worth!

Not much going on with the plot, but it's only volume 2 so I'm confident it will pick up the pace soon. Also, the art style makes it hard to tell what's going on with the action scenes. Sometimes I had to stare at the panels for a while, head tilted slighly, eyes squinted in puzzlement. It's difficult to see through all the blood flying and blades swishing. Sometimes I never even worked out what was happening and just had to continued on and hope it would get cleared up for me later. I love Attack on Titan and this paled in comparison. It was just really hard for me to accept that anyone would believe that a baby was a "son of a titan" for real. or even metaphorically.

~4/5[Read more at my blog, Geeky Reading!]I am rather unabashedly enjoying this series. There was some more depth developed from the first volume, and while it’s violent and a little horrible, there’s also a shojo element thrown in that I’m just plain enjoying.I’m a shojo girl at heart, so I’m looking for and liking the budding romance between Kuklo and Sharle, as well as the development of both of their characters.I like the way that Sharle made the decisions for herself, and how she’s doing wh ~4/5[Read more at my blog, Geeky Reading!]I am rather unabashedly enjoying this series. I feel bad for her, with the fact that Kuklo has to leave for a while, and she doesn't know how to help.I like Kuklo. He finally really sees who he is despite what everyone has always told him in this volume, and he also makes a big decision not to give in. I like his discovery, and look forward to seeing how he toughens up later. We’re learning some interesting history about the survey corps, and I can’t remember if any of this is mentioned in the original series or not, but I’m intrigued to see where that goes. The cliffhanger was rather mean, so I’m eager for the next volume to see what happens next. The novel version is being released soon, too, and I look forward to reading that quite a lot.

Story Things are kind of moving too slow for me. I think if I was buying this, I'd be disappointed and stop, but since I'm borrowing them from the library I'll give the next volume a go if they pick it up.There seems potential for an interesting story here if only they'd get on with it. Artwork The artwork here is definitely better than the main series, but I'm still not blow away or anything.

What is it like to be the alleged son of a Titan? Are you strong willed? Do you have heart enough to stand up to your oppressors? I thought this was really great and then the action came and then it ended.Major sadness to wait for book 3, but so far so good.

I just don't like this story for some reason. I think it's almost like what a typical shonen manga would be if it wasn't as clever and unique as the original Attack on Titan.

Minus a star for that horrible hack job they call a haircut. Otherwise, awesome action with tons of weirdness. Now I have to wait impatiently for part trois.

This volume consists of chapters 4-7. The story has picked up quickly. Kuklo wants to see a titan to prove to himself that he isn't one of them, that he's human. However it does seem like this series is written by a different author either if Isayama's name is on the cover. It's still not on par with Isayama's series, but it's not too bad either. I enjoy the world and the characters are sure to grow on me.

I found the action sequences very hard to follow. In some frames, I had no idea what was going on. That was a bit frustrating to me. The artwork could be more clear. I liked the progression of events. It needed to happen. I don't think I could go through another full volume of Kuklo imprisoned. No further spoilers, but the way it happened was quite a surprise to me.It ends on a cliffhanger (like they all do, usually), so be sure to have the next volume on hand to read for when you finish this on I found the action sequences very hard to follow. The story revolves around a boy that was born after his mother was regurgitated and the girl he befriended. In the second installment the time has come for Sharle and Kuklo to escape from the life that holds them both prisoners but it won’t be without casualties. When the night comes for them to escape they find that the Titan worshipers have come to free the titan child but it won’t be easy and they won’t be the only ones to make it out alive. Sharle’s brother who’s tortured Kuklo also makes it out but not before giving Kuko a permanent reminder. It’s been a while since I dove back into the world of the Titans but decided it was time to read about what happened before Attack on Titan. It’s interesting to see what happened 70 years in the past, and I’m curious to see how we will evolve to fight the titans. The art is entertaining it works well with the story. I really enjoy that each installment is a mix of story and action giving just enough to keep you wanting more. I’m already captivated by the two characters Sharle and Kuklo who escaped with their lives. I quickly fell in love with the prequel just like I did Attack on Titans. I can’t wait to see how it will progress and learn more about the characters in this series. The more I read the more I am enjoying this new spin.

Kuklo, born from the womb of a pregnant woman who was eaten by a titan, was branded as the 'Titan's Son' from the moment he was born. Having lived the first part of his life in a cage, and the second in a dungeon of a rich noble's family, Kuklo knew nothing of kindness, he didn't even know how to speak! However, soon after Kuklo was brought into the Inocencio family dungeon to become a plaything for her brother, Sharle, the sole daughter of the Inocencio family, visited Kuklo for the first time. However, soon after Kuklo was brought into the Inocencio family dungeon to become a plaything for her brother, Sharle, the sole daughter of the Inocencio family, visited Kuklo for the first time. She went down there to kill him out of fear, but her ambition quickly changed from murdering him to teaching him, after she had realized he was only as human as herself. Sharle and Kuklo became quite close over the span of two years, however, Sharle had been betrothed to the heir of another noble's family. She despised the idea, so her and Kuklo devised a plan to escape together. But on the night of their escape, many horrors will await them...Gripping, exciting, but not fantastic. Attack on Titan: Before the Fall volume 1 was pretty grand all on its own, but volume 2 was one hell of a let down. It still has potential, so I will still read volume 3, but I really am starting to feel like volume 1 was nothing more than an intro into the Before the Fall series, and this is just going to be like any other shonen manga.Don't know. It's like they got really lazy on thinking up some good plot twists for this volume. Hopefully this is just a set up for a whole new arc in Attack on Titan: Before the Fall. Then again, I guess spin-off series can only be so good, huh?

*SPOILERS*I am loving this story line almost a much as the original. I thought it was very obvious from the beginning that he wasn't part titan. I'm hoping that he joins the survey corps after the expedition. Otherwise, I don't see how they are going to revolve an entire story around him.

Enjoyed the 2nd installment. Much more action in this so it moved pretty quickly. Some of the scenes were hard to decipher though but maybe that was the point... Still, I like to be able to tell what it is I am looking at...

I haven't read the first one and that did detract from the overall story, but it's still good. I'm glad to get to see other times in the history in aot, but I didn't get a good feel for the new characters which in other aot books was not a problem. Probably just need to read this series in order.
